Jeremiah 6
1 Assemble, O ye children of Benjamin, to flee out of the midst of Jerusalem, and in Tekoa, blow the cornet, and on Beth-hakkerem set up a fire signal; for evil is seen [coming] out of the north, and great havoc.
“பென்யமீன் மக்களே, பாதுகாப்புக்காக தப்பி ஓடுங்கள். எருசலேமைவிட்டுத் தப்பி ஓடுங்கள்! தெக்கோவாவில் எக்காளத்தை ஊதுங்கள்! பெத்கேரேமில் சைகை காட்டுங்கள்! ஏனெனில் ஒரு பேராபத்து வடக்கிலிருந்து வருகிறது. அது பயங்கர பேரழிவாய் வருகிறது.
2 The comely and the delicate, the daughter of Zion do I destroy.
அழகும் மென்மையுமுள்ள சீயோன் மகளை நான் அழிப்பேன்.
3 Unto her shall come shepherds with their flocks; they shall pitch their tents against her round about; they shall feed off every one his own place.
மேய்ப்பர்கள் தங்கள் மந்தைகளோடு அவளுக்கெதிராக வருவார்கள். அவளைச் சுற்றித் தங்கள் கூடாரங்களை அடித்து, அவனவன் தான் தெரிந்துகொண்ட பகுதியில் தன் மந்தைகளை மேய்ப்பான்.”
4 Prepare ye war against her! “Arise, and let us go up at noon. Woe unto us! for the day waneth, for the shadows of the evening are stretched out.
“அவளுக்கெதிராக ஒரு யுத்தத்தை ஆயத்தப்படுத்துங்கள், எழுந்திருங்கள், நண்பகலில் தாக்குவோம். ஆனால் ஐயோ! பகல் வெளிச்சம் மங்குகிறது. அந்திப்பொழுதும் சாய்கிறது.
5 Arise, and let us go up by night, and let us destroy her palaces.”
ஆகவே எழும்புங்கள். நாம் இரவில் தாக்கி அவளுடைய கோட்டைகளை அழிப்போம்.”
6 For thus hath said the Lord of hosts, Cut ye down trees, and cast up a mound against Jerusalem: this is the city whose time of punishment is come; she is full of oppression in her midst.
சேனைகளின் யெகோவா சொல்வது இதுவே: “மரங்களை வெட்டி வீழ்த்தி எருசலேமிற்கு எதிராக முற்றுகைக் கொத்தளங்களைக் கட்டுங்கள். இந்தப் பட்டணம் தண்டிக்கப்பட வேண்டும்; அது அடக்கு முறையால் நிறைந்திருக்கிறது.
7 As a well sendeth forth its waters, so doth she cause her wickedness to spring forth: violence and robbery are heard in her; in my presence there are continually disease and wounds.
ஊற்றிலிருந்து தண்ணீர் சுரப்பதுபோல, அவளிலிருந்து கொடுமை சுரந்துகொண்டே இருக்கிறது. வன்செயலும், அழிவுமே அப்பட்டணத்தின் வீதிகளில் எதிரொலிக்கின்றன; அவளுடைய நோய்களும், காயங்களும் எப்போதும் எனக்கு முன்பாக இருக்கின்றன.
8 Be thou instructed, O Jerusalem, that my soul tear itself not away from thee; that I render thee not desolate, a land which is not inhabited.
எருசலேமே, இந்த எச்சரிப்பைக் கவனி. இல்லாவிட்டால் நான் உன்னைவிட்டுப் போய்விடுவேன், ஒருவரும் அதில் குடியிருக்கமாட்டார்கள். அப்பொழுது உன் நாடு பாழாகும்.”
9 Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, They shall thoroughly glean like a vine the remnant of Israel: carry back thy hand as a grape-gatherer frequently to the baskets.
சேனைகளின் யெகோவா சொல்வது இதுவே: “திராட்சைக்கொடிகளில் பறிக்காமல் விடப்பட்ட பழங்களை திரும்ப சேர்த்தெடுப்பதுபோல், இஸ்ரயேலில் மீதியாயிருப்பவர்களை சேர்த்தெடுங்கள். திராட்சைப் பழங்களைச் சேர்க்கிறவனைப்போல, திரும்பவும் கிளைகளுக்கு இடையில் உனது கையைப் போடு.”
10 To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot be attentive: behold, the word of the Lord is become unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.
நான் யாரோடு பேசி எச்சரிக்கை கொடுப்பேன்? யார் எனக்குச் செவிகொடுப்பான்? கேட்க முடியாதபடி அவர்களின் காதுகள் மூடப்பட்டிருக்கின்றன. யெகோவாவின் வார்த்தை அவர்களுக்கு வெறுப்பாயிருக்கிறது. அதில் அவர்கள் மகிழ்ச்சி கொள்ளவில்லை.
11 And I am full of the fury of the Lord; I am weary with sustaining it: [I must] pour it out over the child in the street, and over the assembly of young men together; for even the husband with the wife shall be seized, the aged with him that is full of days.
நான் யெகோவாவினுடைய கடுங்கோபத்தினால் நிறைந்திருக்கிறேன், என்னால் அதை அடக்கிக்கொண்டிருக்க முடியாது. “அதை வீதிகளில் இருக்கும் பிள்ளைகள் மேலும், ஒன்று கூடியிருக்கும் இளைஞர் மேலும் ஊற்றிவிடு; கணவனும் மனைவியும் முதியவர்களும் வயது சென்றவர்களுங்கூட அதில் அகப்படுவார்கள்.
12 And their houses shall be transferred unto others, fields and wives together; for I will stretch out my hand over the inhabitants of the land, saith the Lord.
அவர்களுடைய வீடுகளும் வயல்களும் மற்றவர்களுக்குச் சொந்தமாகும். மனைவிகளுங்கூட மற்றவர்களுக்குச் சொந்தமாவார்கள். நாட்டில் குடியிருப்பவர்களுக்கு எதிராக நான் என்னுடைய கையை நீட்டும்போது, இது நிகழும்” என்று யெகோவா அறிவிக்கிறார்.
13 For from their least even unto their greatest, every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one practiseth falsehood.
ஏனெனில், “தாழ்ந்தோர்முதல் உயர்ந்தோர்வரை, எல்லோரும் அநியாய இலாபம் பெற பேராசைப்படுகிறார்கள். இறைவாக்கினர்முதல் ஆசாரியர்வரை அனைவரும் ஒருமித்து வஞ்சனையே செய்கிறார்கள்.
14 And they heal the breach of the daughter of my people very lightly, saying, Peace, peace: when there is no peace.
என் மக்களின் கடுமையான காயத்தை, கடுமையற்றதைப்போல் மருந்திட்டுக் கட்டுகிறார்கள். சமாதானம், சமாதானம் என்று சொல்கிறார்கள், ஆனால் சமாதானமோ அங்கே இல்லை.
15 They should have been ashamed, because they had committed an abomination; but they neither felt the least shame, nor did they know how to blush: therefore shall they fall among those that fall; at the time that I punish their sin shall they stumble, saith the Lord.
அவர்கள் தங்களுடைய அருவருக்கத்தக்க நடத்தையைக் குறித்து வெட்கப்படுகிறார்களா? இல்லை, அவர்களுக்குச் சிறிதளவும் வெட்கம் இல்லை; நாணங்கொள்ளவும் அவர்கள் அறியார்கள். ஆதலால் அவர்கள் விழுந்தவர்கள் மத்தியில் விழுவார்கள்; நான் அவர்களைத் தண்டிக்கும்போது, தள்ளுண்டு போவார்கள்” என்று யெகோவா சொல்கிறார்.
16 Thus hath said the Lord, Place yourselves on the ways, and see, and ask after the ancient paths, where is the way which is good, that ye may walk thereon, and find rest for your soul. But they said, We will not walk [thereon].
யெகோவா சொல்வது இதுவே: “வழியின் நாற்சந்திகளில் நின்று பாருங்கள். முன்னோர்களின் வழிகளைக் கேட்டு விசாரியுங்கள். நன்மையான வழி எங்கே என்று கேட்டு அதிலே நடவுங்கள். அப்பொழுது உங்கள் ஆத்துமாவுக்கு ஆறுதல் கிடைக்கும். ஆனால் நீங்களோ, ‘நாங்கள் அதில் நடக்கமாட்டோம்’ என்றீர்கள்.
17 Then did I set watchmen over you, [saying, ] Listen to the sound of the cornet. But they said, We will not listen.
நான் உங்கள்மேல் காவற்காரரை நியமித்து, ‘எக்காள சத்தத்தைக் கவனித்துக் கேளுங்கள்!’ என்று சொன்னேன். ஆனால் நீங்களோ, ‘நாங்கள் அதைக் கேட்க மாட்டோம்’ என்றீர்கள்.
18 Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O assembly, what [guilt] is among them.
ஆகையால் நாடுகளே! கேளுங்கள்; கூடியிருப்போரே! அவர்களுக்கு என்ன நடக்கப்போகிறது என்பதைக் கவனியுங்கள்.
19 Hear, O earth! behold, I will bring evil upon this people, the fruit of their thoughts; because unto my words have they not been attentive, and as regardeth my law, —that have they despised.
பூமியே கேள்: இந்த மக்கள்மேல் பேராபத்தைக் கொண்டுவரப் போகிறேன். அவர்களுடைய சதித்திட்டங்களின் பலனே இது. அவர்கள் என் வார்த்தைகளைக் கவனித்துக் கேட்கவில்லை. என் சட்டத்தையும் புறக்கணித்துவிட்டார்கள்.
20 To what purpose serveth me the frankincense which cometh from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far-off country? your burnt-offerings are not acceptable, and your sacrifices are not agreeable unto me.
சேபாவிலிருந்து வரும் தூபவர்க்கமும், தூரதேசத்திலிருந்து வரும் நறுமணப் பொருட்களும் எனக்கு எதற்கு? உங்கள் தகனபலிகள் எனக்கு ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளத்தக்கவை அல்ல; உங்கள் பலிகளும் என்னை மகிழ்விப்பதில்லை.”
21 Therefore thus hath said the Lord, Behold, I will place before this people stumbling-blocks, and thereon shall stumble the fathers and the sons together, the neighbor and his friend, and they shall perish.
ஆகையால் யெகோவா சொல்வது இதுவே: “நான் இந்த மக்களுக்கு முன்பாக தடைகளை வைப்பேன். தந்தையரும், மகன்களும் அவைகளின்மேல் இடறி விழுவார்கள்; அயலவரும், சிநேகிதரும் அழிந்துபோவார்கள்.”
22 Thus hath said the Lord, Behold, a people is coming from the north country, and a great nation shall wake up from the farthest ends of the earth.
யெகோவா சொல்வது இதுவே: “பாருங்கள்! வடதிசை நாட்டிலிருந்து ஒரு படை வருகிறது. ஒரு பெரிய நாடு பூமியின் கடைசி எல்லைகளிலிருந்து எழும்புகிறது.
23 Bow and spear shall they firmly grasp; cruel are they, and will have no mercy; their voice roareth like the sea; and upon horses do they ride; set in array as one man for the war, against thee, O daughter of Zion.
அவர்கள் வில்லையும், ஈட்டியையும் ஆயுதமாய் ஏந்தியிருக்கிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் இரக்கமற்ற கொடியவர்கள். அவர்கள் தங்கள் குதிரைகளில் சவாரி செய்யும்போது அவர்களின் சத்தம், இரைகிற கடலைப் போலிருக்கிறது; சீயோன் மகளே! அவர்கள் போருக்கு அணிவகுத்த மனிதரைப்போல் உன்னைத் தாக்க வருகிறார்கள்.”
24 We have heard the fame of him—our hands grow feeble: anguish hath taken hold of us, pain, as of a woman in giving birth.
அவர்களைப்பற்றிய செய்தியை நாங்கள் கேள்விப்பட்டோம்; எங்கள் கைகள் தளர்ந்து செயலிழந்தன. பிரசவ வேதனைப்படும் ஒரு பெண்ணைப்போல பயமும் வேதனையும் எங்களைப் பற்றிக்கொண்டது.
25 Go not forth into the field, on the road must ye not walk; for [there is] the sword of the enemy, terror on every side.
வயல்வெளி இடங்களுக்குப் போகவோ வீதிகளில் நடக்கவோ வேண்டாம். ஏனெனில் பகைவன் வாளை வைத்திருக்கிறான். நாற்புறமும் பயங்கரம் இருக்கிறது.
26 O daughter of my people, gird thyself with sackcloth, and roll thyself in the ashes: a mourning as for an only son prepare unto thee, a most bitter lamentation; for suddenly will the destroyer come over us.
என் மக்களே, நீங்கள் துக்கவுடை உடுத்தி, சாம்பலில் புரளுங்கள்; ஒரே மகனுக்காக மனங்கசந்து அழுவதைப்போல் துக்கப்படுங்கள். ஏனெனில் அழிக்கிறவன் நம்மேல் திடீரென வருவான்.
27 I have set thee for a tower and a fortress among my people, that thou mayest know and probe their way.
“எரேமியாவே! உன்னை உலோகங்களைப் பரிசோதிப்பவனாகவும், என் மக்களை உலோகத் துகள்களாகவும் ஆக்கினேன். நீயே என் மக்களுடைய வழிகளைக் கவனித்து, பரிசோதித்துப் பார்க்கவேண்டும்.
28 They all are grievous revolters, going about as talebearers, copper and iron: they all are corrupt.
அவர்கள் யாவரும் மனக்கடினமுள்ள கலகக்காரர். தூற்றுவதற்காக சுற்றித் திரிகிறார்கள். அவர்கள் வெண்கலமும் இரும்புமே; அவர்கள் எல்லோரும் சீர்கேடாய் நடக்கிறார்கள்.
29 The bellows are burnt, by the fire the lead is consumed: in vain the melter refineth; for the wicked are not separated away.
நெருப்பினால் ஈயத்தை எரித்துப்போடுவதற்கு உலைத்துருத்தி பயங்கரமான காற்றை ஊதுகிறது; ஆனால் புடமிடுதல் பலனின்றி வீணாய்ப் போகிறது. கொடுமை அவர்களிடமிருந்து அகற்றப்படவில்லை.
30 Refuse silver men call them; because the Lord hath rejected them.
அவர்கள் புறக்கணித்து விடப்பட்ட வெள்ளி என அழைக்கப்படுகிறார்கள். ஏனெனில் யெகோவா அவர்களைப் புறக்கணித்துவிட்டார்.”
