Jeremiah 6
1 Assemble, O ye children of Benjamin, to flee out of the midst of Jerusalem, and in Tekoa, blow the cornet, and on Beth-hakkerem set up a fire signal; for evil is seen [coming] out of the north, and great havoc.
Sammelt euch, ihr Kinder Benjamin, aus Jerusalem und blaset die Trommeten auf der Warte Thekoa und werfet auf ein Panier auf der Warte Beth-Cherem; denn es gehet daher ein Unglück von Mitternacht und ein großer Jammer.
2 The comely and the delicate, the daughter of Zion do I destroy.
Die Tochter Zion ist wie eine schöne und lustige Aue.
3 Unto her shall come shepherds with their flocks; they shall pitch their tents against her round about; they shall feed off every one his own place.
Aber es werden Hirten über sie kommen mit ihren Herden, die werden Gezelte rings um sie her aufschlagen und weiden, ein jeglicher an seinem Ort (und sprechen):
4 Prepare ye war against her! “Arise, and let us go up at noon. Woe unto us! for the day waneth, for the shadows of the evening are stretched out.
Rüstet euch zum Kriege wider sie! Wohlauf, laßt uns hinaufziehen, weil es noch hoch Tag ist! Ei, es will Abend werden, und die Schatten werden groß.
5 Arise, and let us go up by night, and let us destroy her palaces.”
Wohlan, so laßt uns auf sein, und sollten wir bei Nacht hinaufziehen, und ihre Paläste verderben!
6 For thus hath said the Lord of hosts, Cut ye down trees, and cast up a mound against Jerusalem: this is the city whose time of punishment is come; she is full of oppression in her midst.
Denn also spricht der HERR Zebaoth: Fället Bäume und macht Schütte wider Jerusalem; denn sie ist eine Stadt, die heimgesucht werden soll. Ist doch eitel Unrecht drinnen.
7 As a well sendeth forth its waters, so doth she cause her wickedness to spring forth: violence and robbery are heard in her; in my presence there are continually disease and wounds.
Denn gleichwie ein Born sein Wasser quillet, also quillet auch ihre Bosheit. Ihr Frevel und Gewalt schreiet über sie; und ihr Morden und Schlagen treiben sie täglich vor mir.
8 Be thou instructed, O Jerusalem, that my soul tear itself not away from thee; that I render thee not desolate, a land which is not inhabited.
Bessere dich, Jerusalem, ehe sich mein Herz von dir wende und ich dich zum wüsten Lande mache, darinnen niemand wohne!
9 Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, They shall thoroughly glean like a vine the remnant of Israel: carry back thy hand as a grape-gatherer frequently to the baskets.
So spricht der HERR Zebaoth: Was übrig geblieben ist von Israel, das muß auch nachher abgelesen werden wie am Weinstock. Der Weinleser wird eins nach dem andern in die Butten werfen.
10 To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot be attentive: behold, the word of the Lord is become unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.
Ach, mit wem soll ich doch reden und zeugen? Daß doch jemand hören wollte! Aber ihre Ohren sind unbeschnitten, sie mögen's nicht hören. Siehe, sie halten des HERRN Wort für einen Spott und wollen sein nicht.
11 And I am full of the fury of the Lord; I am weary with sustaining it: [I must] pour it out over the child in the street, and over the assembly of young men together; for even the husband with the wife shall be seized, the aged with him that is full of days.
Darum bin ich des HERRN Dräuen so voll, daß ich's nicht lassen kann. Schütte aus, beide, über Kinder auf den Gassen und über die Mannschaft im Rat miteinander; denn es sollen beide, Mann und Weib, beide, Alte und der Wohlbetagte, gefangen werden.
12 And their houses shall be transferred unto others, fields and wives together; for I will stretch out my hand over the inhabitants of the land, saith the Lord.
Ihre Häuser sollen den Fremden zuteil werden samt den Äckern und Weibern; denn ich will meine Hand ausstrecken, spricht der HERR, über des Landes Einwohner.
13 For from their least even unto their greatest, every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one practiseth falsehood.
Denn sie geizen allesamt, klein und groß, und beide Propheten und Priester lehren allesamt falschen Gottesdienst
14 And they heal the breach of the daughter of my people very lightly, saying, Peace, peace: when there is no peace.
und trösten mein Volk in seinem Unglück, daß Sie es gering achten sollen, und sagen: Friede, Friede! und ist doch nicht Friede.
15 They should have been ashamed, because they had committed an abomination; but they neither felt the least shame, nor did they know how to blush: therefore shall they fall among those that fall; at the time that I punish their sin shall they stumble, saith the Lord.
Darum werden sie mit Schanden bestehen, daß sie solche Greuel treiben, wiewohl sie wollen ungeschändet sein und wollen sich nicht schämen. Darum müssen sie fallen über einen Haufen; und wenn ich sie heimsuchen werde, sollen sie fallen, spricht der HERR.
16 Thus hath said the Lord, Place yourselves on the ways, and see, and ask after the ancient paths, where is the way which is good, that ye may walk thereon, and find rest for your soul. But they said, We will not walk [thereon].
So spricht der HERR: Tretet auf die Wege und schauet und fraget nach den vorigen Wegen, welches der gute Weg sei, und wandelt drinnen, so werdet ihr Ruhe finden für eure Seele. Aber sie sprechen: Wir wollen's nicht tun.
17 Then did I set watchmen over you, [saying, ] Listen to the sound of the cornet. But they said, We will not listen.
Ich habe Wächter über euch gesetzt. Merket auf die Stimme der Trommeten! Aber sie sprechen: Wir wollen's nicht tun.
18 Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O assembly, what [guilt] is among them.
Darum so höret, ihr Heiden, und merket samt euren Leuten!
19 Hear, O earth! behold, I will bring evil upon this people, the fruit of their thoughts; because unto my words have they not been attentive, and as regardeth my law, —that have they despised.
Du Erde, höre zu! Siehe, ich will ein Unglück über dies Volk bringen, nämlich ihren verdienten Lohn, daß sie auf meine Worte nicht achten und mein Gesetz verwerfen.
20 To what purpose serveth me the frankincense which cometh from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far-off country? your burnt-offerings are not acceptable, and your sacrifices are not agreeable unto me.
Was frage ich nach dem Weihrauch, der aus Reicharabien, und nach den guten Zimmetrinden, die aus fernen Landen kommen? Eure Brandopfer sind mir nicht angenehm und eure Opfer gefallen mir nicht.
21 Therefore thus hath said the Lord, Behold, I will place before this people stumbling-blocks, and thereon shall stumble the fathers and the sons together, the neighbor and his friend, and they shall perish.
Darum spricht der HERR also: Siehe, ich will diesem Volk ein Ärgernis stellen, daran sich beide, Väter und Kinder miteinander stoßen, und ein Nachbar mit dem andern umkommen sollen.
22 Thus hath said the Lord, Behold, a people is coming from the north country, and a great nation shall wake up from the farthest ends of the earth.
So spricht der HERR: Siehe, es wird ein Volk kommen von Mitternacht, und ein groß Volk wird sich erregen hart an unserm Lande,
23 Bow and spear shall they firmly grasp; cruel are they, and will have no mercy; their voice roareth like the sea; and upon horses do they ride; set in array as one man for the war, against thee, O daughter of Zion.
die Bogen und Schild führen. Es ist grausam und ohne Barmherzigkeit sie brausen daher wie ein ungestüm Meer und reiten auf Rossen, gerüstet wie Kriegsleute, wider dich, du Tochter Zion.
24 We have heard the fame of him—our hands grow feeble: anguish hath taken hold of us, pain, as of a woman in giving birth.
Wenn wir von ihnen hören werden, so werden uns die Fäuste entsinken; es wird uns angst und weh werden wie einer Gebärerin.
25 Go not forth into the field, on the road must ye not walk; for [there is] the sword of the enemy, terror on every side.
Es gehe ja niemand hinaus auf den Acker, niemand gehe über Feld; denn es ist allenthalben unsicher vor dem Schwert des Feindes.
26 O daughter of my people, gird thyself with sackcloth, and roll thyself in the ashes: a mourning as for an only son prepare unto thee, a most bitter lamentation; for suddenly will the destroyer come over us.
O Tochter meines Volks, zeuch Säcke an und lege dich in die Asche; trage Leid wie um einen einigen Sohn und klage wie die, so hoch betrübt sind; denn der Verderber kommt über uns plötzlich.
27 I have set thee for a tower and a fortress among my people, that thou mayest know and probe their way.
Ich habe dich zum Schmelzer gesetzt unter mein Volk, das so hart ist, daß du ihr Wesen erfahren und prüfen sollst.
28 They all are grievous revolters, going about as talebearers, copper and iron: they all are corrupt.
Sie sind allzumal Abtrünnige und wandeln verräterisch; sie sind eitel verdorben Erz und Eisen.
29 The bellows are burnt, by the fire the lead is consumed: in vain the melter refineth; for the wicked are not separated away.
Der Blasbalg ist verbrannt, das Blei verschwindet; das Schmelzen ist umsonst, denn das Böse ist nicht davon geschieden.
30 Refuse silver men call them; because the Lord hath rejected them.
Darum heißen sie auch ein verworfen Silber; denn der HERR hat sie verworfen.
