Jeremiah 50
1 The word that the Lord spoke concerning Babylon, concerning the land of the Chaldeans, by means of Jeremiah the prophet.
A palavra que Javé falou a respeito da Babilônia, a respeito da terra dos caldeus, por Jeremias, o profeta.
2 Announce ye among the nations, and publish, and lift up a standard; publish, conceal not; say, Babylon is captured, Bel is put to shame, Merodach is broken in pieces; put to shame are her idols; broken in pieces are her images.
“Declare entre as nações e publique, e estabelecer um padrão; publicar, e não esconder; dizem: “A Babilônia foi tomada, Bel está decepcionado, Merodach está consternado! Suas imagens estão desapontadas. Seus ídolos estão consternados”.
3 For there is come up against her a nation out of the north, which will change her land into a desert, so that there shall not be any one dwelling therein: both man and beast are fled away, they are departed.
Para uma nação sai do norte contra ela, o que tornará suas terras desoladas, e ninguém vai morar nela. Eles fugiram. Eles se foram, tanto o homem quanto o animal.
4 In those days, and at that time, saith the Lord, shall the children of Israel come, they and the children of Judah together, going and weeping shall they go, and the Lord their God shall they seek.
“Naqueles dias, e naquele tempo”, diz Yahweh, “os filhos de Israel virão”, eles e os filhos de Judá juntos; eles seguirão seu caminho chorando, e buscarão a Javé seu Deus.
5 After Zion shall they ask, with their faces on the way thitherward, [saying, ] Come: and they will join themselves to the Lord in a perpetual covenant that shall not be forgotten.
Eles perguntarão sobre Zion com seus rostos voltados para ela, dizendo: 'Venham e juntem-se a Yahweh em um pacto eterno que não será esquecida”.
6 Lost sheep were my people; their shepherds had caused them to go astray, they had let them roam wildly on the mountains: from mountain to hill did they go, they forgot their resting-place.
Meu povo se perdeu ovelhas. Seus pastores fizeram com que se extraviassem. Eles os afastaram nas montanhas. Eles foram da montanha para a colina. Eles esqueceram seu lugar de descanso.
7 All that found them devoured them; and their adversaries said, We offend not, because they have sinned against the Lord, the habitation of righteousness, and the hope of their fathers, the Lord.
Todos os que os encontraram os devoraram. Seus adversários disseram: “Não somos culpados”, porque pecaram contra Yahweh, a morada da retidão, até Yahweh, a esperança de seus pais”.
8 Fly away out of the midst of Babylon, and go forth out of the land of the Chaldeans, and be ye as the he-goats before the flocks.
“Fuja do meio da Babilônia! Saia da terra dos caldeus, e ser como os caprinos machos diante dos rebanhos.
9 For, lo, I will awaken and cause to come up against Babylon an assemblage of great nations from the north country; and they shall set themselves in battle-array against her; from there shall she be captured: their arrows are as those of a skilful mighty one, none of which ever returneth in vain.
Pois, eis que eu vou agitar e fazer frente à Babilônia uma empresa de grandes nações do país do norte; e eles se colocarão contra ela. Ela será tirada de lá. Suas flechas serão como de um homem poderoso e experiente. Nenhum deles retornará em vão.
10 And Chaldea shall be given up to spoil: all that spoil her shall be satisfied, saith the Lord.
A Caldéia será uma presa. Todos os que a atormentam ficarão satisfeitos”, diz Yahweh.
11 Though ye rejoice, though ye be glad, O ye plunderers of my heritage, though ye be grown fat as the heifer at grass, and neigh as stud-horses:
“Porque você está feliz, porque você se regozija, Ó você que saqueia minha herança, porque você é carente como uma novilha que pisa o grão, e quase como cavalos fortes,
12 Your mother is made greatly ashamed; she that bore you is put to the blush; behold, the end of nations shall be wilderness, dry land, and desert.
sua mãe ficará totalmente desapontada. Ela, que o aborreceu, ficará confusa. Eis que ela será a menor das nações, um deserto, uma terra seca e um deserto.
13 Because of the wrath of the Lord shall it not be inhabited, and it shall be wholly desolate: every one that passeth by Babylon shall be astonished, and hiss over all her wounds.
Por causa da ira de Yahweh ela não será habitada, mas ela estará totalmente desolada. Todos os que passarem pela Babilônia ficarão espantados, e assobiar em todas as suas pragas.
14 Put yourselves in battle-array against Babylon round about, all ye that bend the bow, shoot at her, spare not the arrows: for against the Lord hath she sinned.
Ponham-se em ordem contra a Babilônia por toda parte, todos vocês que dobram o arco; atire nela. Não poupe setas, pois ela pecou contra Yahweh.
15 Shout against her round about; she hath stretched out her hand: fallen are her foundations, thrown down are her walls; for it is the vengeance of the Lord; take vengeance upon her; as she hath done, so do unto her.
Gritar contra ela por todos os lados. Ela se submeteu. Seus baluartes caíram. Suas paredes foram derrubadas, pois é a vingança de Yahweh. Vingue-se dela. Como ela já fez, faça com ela.
16 Cut off the sower from Babylon, and him that handleth the sickle in the time of harvest; because of the wasting sword shall they turn about every one to his people, and every one to his own land shall they flee.
Cortar o semeador da Babilônia, e aquele que maneja a foice no momento da colheita. Por medo da espada opressora, cada um deles voltará para seu próprio povo, e cada um deles fugirá para suas próprias terras.
17 A scattered lamb is Israel; the lions have driven him away: first the king of Assyria devoured him; and this last one broke his bones, [even] Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon.
“Israel é uma ovelha caçada. Os leões o expulsaram. Primeiro, o rei da Assíria o devorou, e agora finalmente Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, quebrou seus ossos”.
18 Therefore thus hath said the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Behold, I will inflict punishment on the king of Babylon and on his land, as I have punished the king of Assyria.
Portanto Yahweh dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel, diz: “Eis que castigarei o rei da Babilônia e sua terra”, como eu castiguei o rei da Assíria.
19 And I will bring Israel back again to his habitation, and he shall feed on Carmel and Bashan: and upon the mountain of Ephraim and Gil'ad shall his soul be satisfied.
Levarei Israel novamente ao seu pasto, e ele vai se alimentar de Carmel e Bashan. Sua alma estará satisfeita nas colinas de Efraim e em Gilead.
20 In those days, and at that time, saith the Lord, shall the iniquity of Israel be sought for, and it shall not be there; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found; for I will pardon those whom I will leave remaining.
Naqueles dias, e naquele tempo”, diz Yahweh, “a iniqüidade de Israel será procurada”, e não haverá nenhuma, também os pecados de Judá, e eles não serão encontrados; pois perdoarei aqueles que eu deixar como remanescente.
21 Against the land of twofold rebellion—even against it go thou up, and against the inhabitants of the country of punishment: lay in ruins and utterly destroy their offspring, saith the Lord, and do in accordance with all that I have commanded thee.
“Suba contra a terra de Merathaim, mesmo contra ela, e contra os habitantes de Pekod. Matar e destruir totalmente depois deles”, diz Yahweh, “e fazer de acordo com tudo o que eu lhe ordenei.
22 A sound of battle [is heard] in the land, and of great destruction.
Um som de batalha está na terra, e de grande destruição.
23 How is cut asunder and broken the hammer of all the earth! how is Babylon become an astonishment among the nations!
Como o martelo de toda a terra é cortado e quebrado! Como a Babilônia se tornou uma desolação entre as nações!
24 I have laid a snare for thee, and thou art also captured, O Babylon, while thou wast not aware: thou art found, and also caught, because thou hadst entered into a contest against the Lord.
Eu coloquei uma armadilha para você, e você também é levado, Babilônia, e você não estava ciente. Você é encontrado, e também capturados, porque você lutou contra Yahweh.
25 The Lord hath opened his treasury, and hath brought forth the weapons of his indignation; for it is a work for the Lord, the Eternal of hosts, in the land of the Chaldeans.
Yahweh abriu seu arsenal, e trouxe à tona as armas de sua indignação; pois o Senhor, Javé dos Exércitos, tem um trabalho a fazer na terra dos caldeus.
26 Come against her from the end of the earth, open her garners; tread her down as sheaves of corn, and destroy her utterly: let there not be left of her a remnant even.
Venha contra ela da fronteira mais longínqua. Abrir seus armazéns. Atire-a para cima como pilhas. Destruí-la completamente. Que nada dela seja deixado.
27 Destroy all her bullocks; let them go down to the slaughter: Woe unto them! for their day is come, the time of their visitation.
Matar todos os seus touros. Deixe-os descer para o abate. Ai deles! Pois chegou o dia deles, o momento de sua visita.
28 There is the voice of those that flee and escape out of the land of Babylon, to tell in Zion the vengeance of the Lord our God, the vengeance for his temple.
Ouça aqueles que fogem e escapam da terra da Babilônia, declarar em Zion a vingança de Yahweh nosso Deus, a vingança de seu templo.
29 Call together the archers against Babylon; all ye that bend the bow, encamp against her round about; let there be no escape for her: recompense her according to her work; in accordance with all that she hath done, do unto her; for against the Lord hath she acted presumptuously, against the Holy One of Israel.
“Chame juntos os arqueiros contra a Babilônia, todos aqueles que dobram o arco. Acampe contra ela por toda parte. Não deixe escapar nada disso. Pague-a de acordo com seu trabalho. De acordo com tudo o que ela fez, faça com ela; pois ela tem se orgulhado contra Yahweh, contra o Santo de Israel.
30 therefore shall her young men fall in her streets, and all her men of war shall perish on that day, saith the Lord.
Portanto, seus jovens cairão em suas ruas. Todos os seus homens de guerra serão levados ao silêncio naquele dia”, diz Yahweh.
31 Behold, I am against thee, O presumptuous one! saith the Lord, the Eternal of hosts; for thy day is come, the time that I will visit thee [with punishment].
“Eis que estou contra você, seu orgulhoso”, diz o Senhor, Yahweh dos Exércitos; “pois seu dia chegou, a hora em que eu o visitarei.
32 And the presumptuous shall stumble and fall, with none to raise him up: and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall devour all his environs.
O orgulhoso vai tropeçar e cair, e ninguém o levantará. Eu acenderei um incêndio em suas cidades, e devorará todos os que estão ao seu redor”.
33 Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, The children of Israel and the children of Judah are oppressed together: and all that took them captive hold them fast; they refuse to dismiss them.
Yahweh dos exércitos diz: “Os filhos de Israel e os filhos de Judá são oprimidos juntos. Todos os que os levaram em cativeiro os seguram com firmeza. Eles se recusam a deixá-los ir.
34 Their Redeemer is strong; The Lord of hosts is his name: he will surely contend in their cause, in order that he may give rest to the land, and make the inhabitants of Babylon tremble.
O seu Redentor é forte. Yahweh dos Exércitos é seu nome. Ele defenderá a causa deles, que ele possa dar descanso à terra, e inquietar os habitantes da Babilônia.
35 The sword is upon the Chaldeans, saith the Lord, and against the inhabitants of Babylon, and against her princes, and against her wise men.
“Uma espada está nos caldeus”, diz Yahweh, “e sobre os habitantes da Babilônia”, em seus príncipes, e em seus sábios.
36 The sword is against the lying soothsayers, and they shall be made foolish: the sword is against her mighty men, and they shall be dismayed.
Uma espada está nos jactanciosos, e eles se tornarão tolos. Uma espada está sobre seus poderosos homens, e eles ficarão consternados.
37 The sword is against their horses, and against their chariots, and against all the confederates that are in the midst of her, and they shall become as women: the sword is against her treasures, and they shall be plundered.
Uma espada está em seus cavalos, em suas carruagens, e em todas as pessoas mistas que estão no meio dela; e elas se tornarão como mulheres. Uma espada está em seus tesouros, e eles serão roubados.
38 The drought is against her waters, and they shall be dried up; for it is the land of graven images, and with their horrid idols do they play the madman.
Uma seca está em suas águas, e eles serão secados; pois é uma terra de imagens gravadas, e eles são loucos por ídolos.
39 Therefore shall martens dwell [there] with jackals, and the ostriches shall dwell therein: and it shall be not inhabited any more for ever; and it shall not be dwelt in from generation to generation.
Portanto, os animais selvagens do deserto com os lobos habitarão lá. As avestruzes habitarão ali. Não será mais habitada para sempre, nem será vivida de geração em geração.
40 Like the overthrow by God of Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighbors, saith the Lord, so shall no man dwell there, nor shall any son of man sojourn therein.
Como quando Deus derrubou Sodoma e Gomorra e suas cidades vizinhas”, diz Yahweh, “para que nenhum homem habite lá”, nem qualquer filho do homem viverá nele.
41 Behold, a people cometh from the north, and a great nation, and many kings shall be awakened from the farthest ends of the earth.
“Eis que um povo vem do norte. Uma grande nação e muitos reis serão agitados a partir das partes mais remotas da terra.
42 Bow and lance do they firmly grasp; they are cruel, and show not any mercy; their voice roareth like the sea, and upon horses do they ride, placed in array, like one man, for the battle, against thee, O daughter of Babylon.
Eles pegam o arco e a lança. Eles são cruéis e não têm piedade. A voz deles ruge como o mar. Eles cavalgam em cavalos, todos em conjunto, como um homem para a batalha, contra você, filha de Babilônia.
43 The king of Babylon hath heard the report of them, and his hands are grown feeble: anguish hath taken fast hold of him, pangs as of a woman in travail.
O rei da Babilônia ouviu as notícias deles, e suas mãos se enfraquecem. A angústia se apoderou dele, dores como as de uma mulher em trabalho de parto.
44 Behold, like a lion shall he come up from the overflow of the Jordan unto the strong habitation; for I will hasten them [and] make them suddenly prevail over her, and him who is chosen will I array against her; for who like me? and who will challenge me to battle? and who is that shepherd that can stand before me?
Eis que o inimigo surgirá como um leão da mata do Jordão contra a forte habitação; pois de repente eu os farei fugir dele. Quem for escolhido, Eu o nomearei sobre ele, para quem é como eu? Quem me indicará um horário? Quem é o pastor que pode estar diante de mim”?
45 Therefore hear ye the counsel of the Lord, that he hath resolved against Babylon; and his purposes, that he hath devised against the land of the Chaldeans: Surely the least of the flock shall drag them away; surely he will devastate over them their habitation.
Portanto, ouça o conselho de Yahweh que ele tomou contra a Babilônia; e seus propósitos que ele se propôs contra a terra dos caldeus: Certamente, eles os arrastarão para longe, mesmo os mais pequenos do rebanho. Certamente, ele fará com que a habitação deles seja desolada sobre eles.
46 At the noise of the conquest of Babylon the earth quaketh, and the outcry is heard among the nations.
A terra treme com o barulho da tomada da Babilônia. O grito é ouvido entre as nações.
