Jeremiah 43
1 And it came to pass, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking unto the whole people all the words of the Lord their God, with which the Lord their God had sent him to them, [namely, ] all these words,
Khi Giê-rê-mi công bố sứ điệp của Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của họ, cho mọi người xong,
2 That then spoke 'Azaryah the son of Hosha'yah, and Jochanan the son of Kareach, and all the presumptuous men, saying unto Jeremiah, Thou speakest falsely: the Lord our God hath not sent thee to say, Ye shall not go into Egypt to sojourn there;
A-xa-ria, con Hô-sai, và Giô-ha-nan, con Ca-rê-át, và những người ngạo mạn nói với Giê-rê-mi: “Ông nói dối! Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời chúng ta, không cấm chúng ta đi xuống Ai Cập!
3 But Baruch the son of Neriyah setteth thee on against us, in order to deliver us into the hand of the Chaldeans, that they may put us to death, or carry us away as exiles to Babylon.
Chính Ba-rúc, con Nê-ri-gia, xúi ông nói điều này, vì ông ấy muốn chúng tôi ở lại đây để quân Ba-by-lôn giết hoặc bắt chúng tôi đi lưu đày.”
4 So Jochanan the son of Kareach, and all the captains of the armies, and all the people, hearkened not to the voice of the Lord, to remain in the land of Judah.
Vậy, Giô-ha-nan, các lãnh đạo quân lưu tán, và toàn dân không vâng theo mệnh lệnh của Chúa Hằng Hữu phán dặn phải ở lại đất Giu-đa.
5 But Jochanan the son of Kareach, and all the captains of the armies, took all the remnant of Judah, that were returned from all the nations, whither they had been driven, to sojourn in the land of Judah;
Giô-ha-nan và các lãnh đạo khác dẫn tất cả người Giu-đa còn sót lại là những người từng trải lạc khắp mọi nước đã trở về Giu-đa.
6 The men, and the women, and the children, and the king's daughters, and every person that Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had left with Gedalyahu the son of Achikam the son of Shaphan; and Jeremiah the prophet, and Baruch the son of Neriyah;
Trong đám đông ấy có đàn ông, phụ nữ, và trẻ em, các công chúa, và tất cả dân cư sót lại mà Nê-bu-xa-ra-đan, quan chỉ huy thị vệ, cho ở lại với Ghê-đa-lia và luôn cả nhà tiên tri Giê-rê-mi và Ba-rúc.
7 And they entered into the land of Egypt; for they hearkened not to the voice of the Lord; and they came as far as Thachpanches.
Những người này không vâng lời Chúa dạy và kéo nhau xuống thành Tác-pha-nết, nước Ai Cập.
8 Then came the word of the Lord unto Jeremiah in Thachpanches, saying,
Tại Tác-pha-nết, Chúa Hằng Hữu lại ban một sứ điệp khác cho Giê-rê-mi. Chúa phán:
9 Take great stones in thy hand, and hide them in the mortar in the brick-kiln which is at the entrance of Pharaoh's house in Thachpanches, before the eyes of the Jewish men;
“Trong khi người Giu-đa đang nhìn, hãy lượm những viên đá lớn và chôn chúng dưới những tảng đá lát tại lối ra vào của cung Pha-ra-ôn trong Tác-pha-nết.
10 And thou shalt say unto them, Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Behold, I will send for and take Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and I will set his throne above these stones that I have hidden; and he shall spread his royal pavilion over them.
Con hãy nói với dân cư Giu-đa: ‘Đây là điều Chúa Hằng Hữu Vạn Quân, Đức Chúa Trời của Ít-ra-ên, phán: Này, Ta sẽ sai gọi Nê-bu-cát-nết-sa, vua Ba-by-lôn, đầy tớ Ta, đến Ai Cập. Ta sẽ đặt ngôi người trên các tảng đá mà Ta đã giấu. Người sẽ giăng màn trướng trên đó.
11 And he shall come and smite the land of Egypt: such as are destined for death shall be given to death; and such as are destined for captivity, to captivity; and such as are destined for the sword, to the sword.
Và khi người đến, người sẽ đem quân tấn công vào đất nước Ai Cập. Ai đáng chết sẽ bị giết, ai đáng bị lưu đày sẽ bị lưu đày, ai muốn chiến tranh sẽ có chiến tranh.
12 And I will kindle a fire in the houses of the gods of Egypt, and he shall burn them, and carry them away captive: and he shall wrap around him the land of Egypt, as a shepherd wrappeth his garment around him; and he shall go forth from there in peace.
Người sẽ nhóm một ngọn lửa thiêu hủy những đền thờ của các thần Ai Cập; người sẽ đốt phá các thần tượng và mang các tượng ấy đi. Người sẽ cướp phá đất nước Ai Cập như người chăn bắt bọ chét bu trên áo choàng. Và người sẽ ra đi bình an.
13 And he shall break the statues of Bethshemesh, which is in the land of Egypt; and the houses of the gods of the Egyptians shall he burn with fire.
Người sẽ đập phá các trụ thờ trong đền thờ Bết-se-mét và phóng hỏa những đền thờ của các thần Ai Cập.’”
