Jeremiah 36
1 And it came to pass in the fourth year of Jehoyakim the son of Josiah the king of Judah, that this word came unto Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,
Y aconteció en el cuarto año de Joacim, hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, que fue esta palabra a Jeremías de Jehová, diciendo:
2 Take thee a roll-book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken unto thee against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day that I spoke unto thee, from the days of Josiah, even until this day.
Tómate un envoltorio de libro, y escribe en él todas las palabras que te he hablado contra Israel y contra Judá, y contra todas las naciones, desde el día que comencé a hablarte, desde los días de Josías hasta hoy:
3 Peradventure it be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do unto them: in order that they may return every man from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.
Quizá oirá la casa de Judá todo el mal que yo pienso hacerles, para que se torne cada uno de su mal camino, y yo les perdone su maldad y su pecado.
4 Then did Jeremiah call Baruch the son of Neriyah: and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the Lord, which he had spoken unto him, upon a roll-book.
Y llamó Jeremías a Baruc, hijo de Nerías, y escribió Baruc de la boca de Jeremías en un envoltorio de libro todas las palabras que Jehová le había hablado.
5 And Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, I am shut up; I am not able to enter into the house of the Lord:
Y mandó Jeremías a Baruc, diciendo: Yo estoy preso: no puedo entrar a la casa de Jehová.
6 Therefore go thou, and read in the roll, which thou hast written from my mouth, the words of the Lord before the ears of the people in the house of the Lord on the fast-day; and also before the ears of all Judah that come out of their cities shalt thou read them.
Entra tú pues, y lee de este envoltorio, que escribiste de mi boca, las palabras de Jehová, en oídos del pueblo, en la casa de Jehová el día del ayuno; y también en oídos de todo Judá, que vienen de sus ciudades, leerlas has.
7 Perhaps it may be that they will humbly present their supplication before the Lord, and will return every one from his evil way; for great are the anger and the fury that the Lord hath decreed against this people.
Quizá caerá oración de ellos en la presencia de Jehová, y se tornarán cada uno de su mal camino; porque grande es el furor, y la ira que ha hablado Jehová contra este pueblo.
8 And Baruch the son of Neriyah did in accordance with all that Jeremiah the prophet had commanded him, to read in the book the words of the Lord in the house of the Lord.
Y Baruc, hijo de Nerías, hizo conforme a todas las cosas que le mandó Jeremías profeta, leyendo en el libro las palabras de Jehová en la casa de Jehová.
9 And it came to pass in the fifth year of Jehoyakim the son of Josiah the king of Judah, in the ninth month, that they proclaimed a fast before the Lord for all the people in Jerusalem, and for all the people that came from the cities of Judah unto Jerusalem.
Y aconteció en el año quinto de Joacim, hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, en el mes noveno, que pregonaron ayuno en la presencia de Jehová a todo el pueblo de Jerusalem, y a todo el pueblo que venía de las ciudades de Judá a Jerusalem.
10 And Baruch read in the book the words of Jeremiah in the house of the Lord, in the chamber of Gemaryahu the son of Shaphan the scribe, in the upper court, at the entrance of the new gate of the Lord's house, before the ears of all the people.
Y Baruc leyó en el libro las palabras de Jeremías en la casa de Jehová en la cámara de Gamarías, hijo de Safán, escriba, en el patio de arriba, a la entrada de la puerta nueva de la casa de Jehová, en oídos de todo el pueblo.
11 And when Michayhu the son of Gemaryahu, the son of Shaphan, had heard all the words of the Lord out of the book:
Y oyendo Miqueas, hijo de Gamarías, hijo de Safán, todas las palabras de Jehová del libro,
12 He went down into the king's house, into the scribe's chamber; and, lo, all the princes were sitting there, even Elishama' the scribe, and Delayahu the son of Shema'yahu, and Elnathan the son of 'Achbor, and Gemaryahu the son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah the son of Chananyahu, and all the princes.
Descendió a la casa del rey a la cámara del escriba, y he aquí que todos los príncipes estaban allí sentados, Elisama escriba, y Dalaías, hijo de Semeías, y Elnatán, hijo de Acobor, y Gamarías, hijo de Safán, y Sedecías, hijo de Jananías, y todos los príncipes.
13 And Michayhu told unto them all the words which he had heard, when Baruch read in the book before the ears of the people.
Y contóles Miqueas todas las palabras que había oído, leyendo Baruc en el libro en oídos del pueblo.
14 Thereupon sent all the princes Jehudi the son of Nethanyahu, the son of Shelemyahu, the son of Cushi, unto Baruch, saying, The roll wherein thou hast read before the ears of the people, —this take in thy hand, and come. So Baruch the son of Neriyahu took the roll in his hand, and came unto them.
Y todos los príncipes enviaron a Jehudi, hijo de Natanías, hijo de Selemías, hijo de Cusi, para que dijese a Baruc: Toma el envoltorio en que leíste a oídos del pueblo, y ven acá. Y Baruc, hijo de Nerías, tomó el envoltorio en su mano, y vino a ellos.
15 And they said unto him, Sit down, we pray thee, and read it before our ears. So Baruch read it before their ears.
Y dijéronle: Siéntate ahora, y léelo en nuestros oídos. Y leyó Baruc en sus oídos.
16 Now it came to pass, when they heard all the words, they looked terrified at each other, and they said unto Baruch, We will surely tell the king of all these words.
Y fue que como oyeron todas aquellas palabras, cada uno se volvió espantado a su compañero, y dijeron a Baruc: sin duda contaremos al rey todas estas palabras.
17 And they asked Baruch, saying, Do tell us, How didst thou write down all these words from his mouth?
Y preguntaron al mismo Baruc, diciendo: Cuéntanos ahora como escribiste de su boca todas estas palabras.
18 Then said Baruch unto them, With his mouth did he utter clearly all these words unto me, and I wrote them in the book with ink.
Y Baruc les dijo: El me dictaba de su boca todas estas palabras, y yo escribía con tinta en el libro.
19 Then said the princes unto Baruch, Go, hide thyself, thou with Jeremiah; and let no man know where ye are.
Y los príncipes dijeron a Baruc: Vé, y escóndete tú, y Jeremías, y nadie sepa donde estáis.
20 And they went in to the king into the court, but the roll they had put in safe keeping in the chamber of Elishama' the scribe; and they told before the ears of the king all the words.
Y entraron al rey al patio habiendo depositado el envoltorio en la cámara de Elisama escriba, y contaron en los oídos del rey todas estas palabras.
21 But the king sent Jehudi to fetch the roll; and he took it out of the chamber of Elishama' the scribe. And Jehudi read it before the ears of the king, and before the ears of all the princes who stood around the king.
Y el rey envió a Jehudi que tomase el envoltorio, el cual lo tomó de la cámara de Elisama escriba, y leyó en él Jehudi en oídos del rey, y en oídos de todos los príncipes que estaban junto al rey.
22 Now the king was sitting in the winter-house in the ninth month: and a pan of coals was burning before him.
Y el rey estaba en la casa del invierno en el mes noveno, y había un brasero ardiendo delante de él.
23 And it came to pass, when Jehudi had read three or four pages, that he cut it with the writer's knife, and cast it into the fire that was in the coal-pan, until all the roll was consumed in the fire that was in the coal-pan.
Y fue que como Jehudi hubo leído tres versos o cuatro, lo rompió con un cuchillo de escribanía, y echólo en el fuego que estaba en el brasero, hasta que todo este envoltorio se consumió sobre el fuego que estaba en el brasero.
24 Yet they were not terrified, nor did they rend their garments, either the king, or any of his servants that had heard all these words.
Y no hubieron temor, ni rompieron sus vestidos, el rey y todos sus siervos que oyeron todas estas palabras.
25 And although Elnathan and Delayahu and Gemaryahu had also made intercession with the king that he might not burn the roll, he would not listen to them.
Y aun Elnatán, y Dalaías, y Gamarías rogaron al rey que no quemase aquel envoltorio, y no los quiso oír.
26 And the king commanded Yerachmeel the son of the king, and Serayahu the son of 'Azriel, and Shelemyahu the son of 'Abdeel, to seize on Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet; but the Lord hid them.
Antes mandó el rey a Jeremeel, hijo de Amelec, y a Saraías, hijo de Ezriel, y a Selemías, hijo de Abdeel, que prendiesen a Baruc el escribano, y a Jeremías profeta: mas Jehová los escondió.
27 Then came the word of the Lord to Jeremiah, after the king had burnt the roll, and the words which Baruch had written down from the mouth of Jeremiah, saying,
Y fue palabra de Jehová a Jeremías después que el rey quemó el envoltorio, las palabras que Baruc había escrito de la boca de Jeremías, diciendo:
28 Take thee again another roll, and write on it all the former words that have been on the first roll, which Jehoyakim the king of Judah hath burnt.
Vuelve, tómate otro envoltorio, y escribe en él todas las palabras primeras, que estaban en el primer envoltorio, que quemó Joacim, rey de Judá.
29 And concerning Jehoyakim the king of Judah shalt thou say, Thus hath said the Lord, Thou hast indeed burnt this roll, saying, Why hast thou written therein, saying, The king of Babylon shall certainly come and destroy this land, and shall cause to cease therefrom man and beast!
Y a Joacim, rey de Judá, dirás: Así dijo Jehová: Tú quemaste este envoltorio, diciendo: ¿Por qué escribiste en él, diciendo: De cierto vendrá el rey de Babilonia, y destruirá esta tierra, y hará que no queden en ella hombres ni animales?
30 Therefore thus hath said the Lord concerning Jehoyakim the king of Judah, He shall have no one to sit upon the throne of David; and his dead body shall be cast out to the heat in the day, and to the cold in the night.
Por tanto así dijo Jehová a Joacim, rey de Judá: No tendrá quien se asiente sobre el trono de David; y su cuerpo será echado al calor del día, y al hielo de la noche.
31 And I will visit on him and on his seed and on his servants their iniquity; and I will bring over them, and over the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and against the men of Judah, all the evil that I have spoken against them, while they did not hearken.
Y visitaré sobre él, y sobre su simiente, y sobre sus siervos, su maldad; y traeré sobre ellos, y sobre los moradores de Jerusalem, y sobre los varones de Judá, todo el mal que les he dicho; y no oyeron.
32 And Jeremiah took another roll, and gave it to Baruch the son of Neriyahu the scribe; who wrote thereon from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoyakim the king of Judah had burnt in the fire: and there were yet added unto them many words like them.
Y Jeremías tomó otro envoltorio, y diólo a Baruc, hijo de Nerías, escribano, y escribió en él de la boca de Jeremías todas las palabras del libro que quemó en el fuego Joacim, rey de Judá; y aun fueron añadidas sobre ellas muchas otras palabras semejantes.
