Jeremiah 30
1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,
La parole qui vint à Jérémie de par l’Éternel, disant:
2 Thus hath said the Lord the God of Israel, saying, Write thee all the words that I have spoken unto thee in a book.
Ainsi parle l’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël, disant: Écris pour toi dans un livre toutes les paroles que je t’ai dites.
3 For, behold, days are coming, saith the Lord, when I will bring back again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah, saith the Lord; and I will cause them to return to the land that I have given to their fathers, and they shall possess it.
Car voici, les jours viennent, dit l’Éternel, où je rétablirai les captifs de mon peuple Israël et Juda, dit l’Éternel; et je les ferai retourner au pays que j’ai donné à leurs pères, et ils le posséderont.
4 And these are the words that the Lord spoke concerning Israel and concerning Judah;
Et ce sont ici les paroles que l’Éternel a dites touchant Israël et touchant Juda;
5 For thus hath said the Lord, A voice of terror have we heard, dread, and no peace.
car ainsi dit l’Éternel: Nous entendons la voix de la frayeur; il y a la peur, et point de paix.
6 Ask ye now, and see whether a male doth give birth to a child? wherefore do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in giving birth? and why are all faces turned pale?
Demandez, je vous prie, et voyez si un mâle enfante. Pourquoi vois-je tout homme tenant ses mains sur ses reins comme une femme qui enfante, et pourquoi tous les visages sont-ils devenus pâles?
7 Alas, for that day is great, there is none like it; and a time of distress it is unto Jacob; yet out of it shall he be saved.
Hélas! que cette journée est grande! Il n’y en a point de semblable; et c’est le temps de la détresse pour Jacob, mais il en sera sauvé.
8 And it shall come to pass on that day, saith the Lord of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and thy bands will I burst asunder; and strangers shall not make him serve any more;
Et il arrivera en ce jour-là, dit l’Éternel des armées, que je briserai son joug de dessus ton cou, et que je romprai tes liens, et les étrangers ne se serviront plus de lui;
9 But they shall serve the Lord their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up unto them.
et ils serviront l’Éternel, leur Dieu, et David, leur roi, lequel je leur susciterai.
10 And thou—do not fear, O my servant Jacob, saith the Lord; and be not dismayed, O Israel; for, behold, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity: and Jacob shall return, and shall be at rest, and be secure, with none to terrify him.
Et toi, mon serviteur Jacob, ne crains point, dit l’Éternel, et ne t’effraie pas, Israël! car voici, je te sauve d’un [pays] lointain, et ta semence, du pays de leur captivité, et Jacob reviendra, et sera tranquille et en repos, et il n’y aura personne qui l’effraie.
11 For with thee am I, saith the Lord, to save thee: though I make a full end of all the nations whither I have scattered thee, yet of thee will I not make a full end; but I will correct thee in moderation, and will not leave thee altogether unpunished.
Car je suis avec toi, dit l’Éternel, pour te sauver; car je détruirai entièrement toutes les nations où je t’ai dispersé; mais quant à toi, je ne te détruirai pas entièrement, mais je te corrigerai avec mesure, et je ne te tiendrai point pour innocent.
12 For thus hath said the Lord, Incurable is thy bruise, and painful, thy wound.
Car ainsi dit l’Éternel: Ta blessure est incurable, ta plaie est difficile à guérir.
13 There is no one to plead thy cause, to bind up [thy wound]: useful remedies there are none for thee.
Nul ne défend ta cause pour bander [ta plaie]; il n’y a point de remèdes, [point] de guérison pour toi.
14 All thy lovers have forgotten thee; thee they seek not; for with the blow of an enemy have I smitten thee, with cruel chastisement, for the multitude of thy iniquity, because thy sins were so numerous.
Tous tes amants t’ont oubliée, ils ne te recherchent pas; car je t’ai frappée d’une plaie d’ennemi, d’une correction d’homme cruel, à cause de la grandeur de ton iniquité: tes péchés se sont renforcés.
15 Why wilt thou cry out because of thy breach? for thy pain which is incurable? because of the multitude of thy iniquity, because thy sins were so numerous, have I done these things unto thee.
Pourquoi cries-tu à cause de ton brisement? Ta douleur est incurable; je t’ai fait ces choses à cause de la grandeur de ton iniquité, [parce que] tes péchés se sont renforcés.
16 Nevertheless all they that devour thee shall be devoured; and all thy adversaries, all of them, shall go into captivity; and they that plunder thee shall be [given up] to plunder, and all that prey upon thee will I give up for a prey.
C’est pourquoi tous ceux qui te dévorent seront dévorés, et tous tes ennemis, oui, tous, iront en captivité, et ceux qui te dépouillent seront dépouillés, et tous ceux qui te pillent je les livrerai au pillage.
17 For I will place a healing plaster on thy bruise, and of thy wounds will I cure thee, saith the Lord; because they called thee “an Outcast.” “This is Zion, whom no one seeketh after.”
Car je t’appliquerai un appareil et je te guérirai de tes plaies, dit l’Éternel; car ils t’ont appelée la Chassée: c’est Sion, que personne ne recherche!
18 Thus hath said the Lord, Behold, I will bring back again the captivity of the tents of Jacob, and on his dwelling-places will I have mercy; and the city shall be rebuilt upon her own heap of ruins, and the palace shall be inhabited after its [ancient] manner.
Ainsi dit l’Éternel: Voici, je rétablirai les captifs des tentes de Jacob, et j’aurai compassion de ses demeures; et la ville sera bâtie sur le monceau de ses ruines, et le palais sera habité selon sa coutume.
19 And there shall proceed out of them thanksgiving, and the voice of those that make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be diminished; I will also make them numerous, and they shall not be made few in number.
Et il en sortira la louange et la voix de gens qui s’égaient; et je les multiplierai, et ils ne seront pas diminués; et je les glorifierai, et ils ne seront pas amoindris.
20 And their children shall be as aforetimes, and their congregation shall be firmly established before me, and I will punish all that oppress them.
Et ses fils seront comme jadis, et son assemblée sera affermie devant moi, et je punirai tous ses oppresseurs.
21 And their leader shall be of themselves, and their ruler shall proceed from the midst of them; and I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach unto me; for who is this that will venture of his own heart to approach unto me? saith the Lord.
Et son chef sera de lui, et son dominateur sortira du milieu de lui; et je le ferai approcher, et il viendra à moi; car qui est celui qui engage son cœur pour venir à moi? dit l’Éternel.
22 And ye shall be unto me for a people, and I will be unto you for a God.
Et vous serez mon peuple, et moi je serai votre Dieu.
23 Behold, the storm-wind of the Lord goeth forth with fury, an abiding storm-wind: upon the head of the wicked shall it fall.
Voici, une tempête de l’Éternel, la fureur, est sortie; une tempête continue fondra sur la tête des méchants.
24 The fierceness of the anger of the Lord will not turn back, until he have done, and until he have fulfilled the purposes of his heart: in the latter days shall ye understand this.
L’ardeur de la colère de l’Éternel ne retournera pas, jusqu’à ce qu’il ait exécuté et accompli les pensées de son cœur. À la fin des jours vous le comprendrez.
