Jeremiah 29
1 And these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem unto the residue of the elders of the exiles, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon;
Și acestea sunt cuvintele scrisorii pe care profetul Ieremia a trimis-o de la Ierusalim către rămășița bătrânilor care au fost duși captivi și către preoți și către profeți și către tot poporul pe care Nebucadnețar îl dusese captiv de la Ierusalim în Babilon;
2 (After king Jechonyah and the queen-mother, and the court-officers, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, and the carpenters, and the locksmiths, were departed from Jerusalem; )
(După ce împăratul Ieconia și împărăteasa și famenii, prinții lui Iuda și ai Ierusalimului, și tâmplarii și fierarii plecaseră din Ierusalim; )
3 By the hand of El'assah the son of Shaphan, and Gemaryah the son of Chilkiyah, [whom Zedekiah the king of Judah sent unto Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, ] saying,
Prin mâna lui Eleasa, fiul lui Șafan, și Ghemaria fiul lui Hilchia (pe care Zedechia, împăratul lui Iuda îi trimisese la Babilon la Nebucadnețar, împăratul Babilonului) spunând:
4 Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, unto all the exiles, whom I have caused to be carried into exile from Jerusalem unto Babylon,
Astfel spune DOMNUL oștirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel, către toți cei care sunt duși captivi, pe care i-am făcut să fie duși de la Ierusalim în Babilon:
5 Build ye houses, and dwell therein; and plant gardens, and eat their fruit;
Zidiți-vă case și locuiți în ele; și sădiți grădini și mâncați rodul lor;
6 Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; that ye may multiply there, and not be diminished.
Luați-vă soții și nașteți fii și fiice; și luați soții pentru fiii voștri și dați pe fiicele voastre unor soți, ca ele să nască fii și fiice; ca să vă înmulțiți acolo și să nu vă împuținați.
7 And seek the welfare of the city whither I have banished you, and pray in its behalf unto the Lord; for in its welfare shall ye fare well.
Și căutați pacea cetății în care v-am făcut să fiți duși captivi și rugați-vă DOMNULUI pentru ea, pentru că în pacea ei veți avea pace.
8 For thus hath said the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Let not your prophets, that are in the midst of you, and your diviners, deceive you, and do not hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamt;
Pentru că astfel spune DOMNUL oștirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel: Să nu vă înșele profeții voștri și ghicitorii voștri, care sunt în mijlocul vostru, nici nu dați ascultare la visurile voastre pe care voi le faceți să fie visate.
9 For with falsehood do they prophesy unto you in my name: I have not sent them, saith the Lord.
Pentru că ei vă profețesc fals în numele meu: eu nu i-am trimis, spune DOMNUL.
10 For thus hath said the Lord, Because only after the accomplishment of seventy years for Babylon, will I visit you, and fulfill respecting you my good word, in causing you to return to this place.
Pentru că astfel spune DOMNUL: Că după ce șaptezeci de ani vor fi împliniți la Babilon, vă voi cerceta și voi împlini cuvântul meu cel bun față de voi, făcându-vă să vă întoarceți în acest loc.
11 For I alone know the thoughts that I entertain respecting you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you a [happy] future and hope.
Pentru că eu cunosc gândurile pe care le gândesc față de voi, spune DOMNUL, gânduri de pace și nu de răutate, pentru a vă da un sfârșit așteptat.
12 And you will call upon me, and ye will go and will pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
Atunci mă veți chema și veți merge și mă veți ruga, iar eu vă voi da ascultare.
13 And ye will seek me, and shall find me, for ye will search for me with all your heart.
Și mă veți căuta și mă veți găsi, când mă veți căuta cu toată inima voastră.
14 And I will be found of you, saith the Lord; and I will bring back your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the Lord; and I will cause you to return unto the place whence I have banished you.
Și voi fi găsit de voi, spune DOMNUL; și mă voi întoarce la captivitatea voastră și vă voi aduna dintre toate națiunile și din toate locurile în care v-am alungat, spune DOMNUL; și vă voi aduce din nou în locul de unde v-am dus captivi.
15 Because ye have said, The Lord hath raised us up prophets in Babylon.
Deoarece ați spus: DOMNUL ne-a ridicat profeți în Babilon;
16 But thus hath said the Lord concerning the king that sitteth upon the throne of David, and concerning all the people that dwell in this city, your brethren that are not gone forth with you into exile;
Să cunoașteți că astfel spune DOMNUL despre împăratul care șade pe tronul lui David și despre tot poporul care locuiește în această cetate și despre frații voștri care nu au mers cu voi în captivitate;
17 Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, Behold, I will send out against them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence; and I will render them like the detestable figs, that cannot be eaten, from being so bad.
Astfel spune DOMNUL oștirilor: Iată, voi trimite asupra lor sabia, foametea și ciuma, și îi voi face ca smochine stricate, care nu pot fi mâncate, de rele ce sunt.
18 And I will pursue after them with the sword, with the famine, and with the pestilence, and will make them a horror unto all the kingdoms of the earth, a curse, and an astonishment, and a derision, and a disgrace, among all the nations whither I have driven them;
Și îi voi persecuta cu sabia, cu foametea și cu ciuma și îi voi da să fie îndepărtați în toate împărățiile pământului, pentru a fi un blestem și o înmărmurire și o șuierare și o ocară printre toate națiunile unde îi voi fi alungat;
19 For the reason that they have not hearkened to my words, saith the Lord, since I sent unto them my servants the prophets, causing them to rise up early and sending them; but ye would not hear, saith the Lord.
Pentru că ei nu au dat ascultare cuvintelor mele, spune DOMNUL, pe care le-am trimis la ei prin servitorii mei, profeții, ridicându-i devreme și trimițându-i; dar voi ați refuzat să ascultați, spune DOMNUL.
20 But ye—hear ye the word of the Lord, all ye exiles whom I have sent away from Jerusalem to Babylon.
Ascultați de aceea cuvântul DOMNULUI, voi toți cei ai captivității, pe care v‑am trimis din Ierusalim în Babilon:
21 Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning Achab the son of Kolayah, and of Zedekiah the son of Ma'asseyah, who prophesy unto you in my name falsehood, Behold, I will give them up into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon: and he shall smite them before your eyes.
Astfel spune DOMNUL oștirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel, despre Ahab, fiul lui Colaia, și despre Zedechia, fiul lui Maaseia, care vă profețesc o minciună în numele meu: Iată, îi voi da în mâna lui Nebucadnețar, împăratul Babilonului; și el îi va ucide înaintea ochilor voștri;
22 And a curse shall be derived from them for all the exiles of Judah who are in Babylon, saying, “May the Lord make thee like Zedekiah and like Achab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire;”
Și din ei va fi luat un blestem de către toată captivitatea lui Iuda, care sunt în Babilon, spunând: DOMNUL să îți facă precum lui Zedechia și precum lui Ahab, pe care împăratul Babilonului i-a prăjit în foc;
23 Because they have done scandalous deeds in Israel, and have committed adultery with the wives of their neighbors, and have spoken in my name falsehood, which I had not commanded them; whereas I am the one that know, and am the witness, saith the Lord.
Pentru că ei au comis nebunie în Israel și au comis adulter cu soțiile celor apropiați ai lor și au vorbit în numele meu cuvinte mincinoase pe care eu nu le‑am poruncit; chiar eu știu și sunt martor, spune DOMNUL.
24 And to Shema'yahu the Nechelamite shalt thou say, as followeth,
Astfel să îi vorbești lui Șemaia nehelamitul, spunând:
25 Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, Because thou hast sent in thy name letters unto all the people that are at Jerusalem, and to Zephanyah the son of Ma'asseyah the priest, and to all the priests, saying,
Astfel vorbește DOMNUL oștirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel, spunând: Fiindcă ai trimis scrisori în numele tău către tot poporul care este la Ierusalim și către Țefania, fiul lui Maaseia, preotul, și către toți preoții, spunând:
26 The Lord hath appointed thee priest in the place of Jehoyada' the priest, that ye should be superintendents in the house of the Lord, for every man that is mad, and that prophesieth, that thou shouldst put him in the stocks, and in prison:
DOMNUL te-a făcut pe tine preot în locul lui Iehoiada preotul ca voi să fiți ofițeri în casa DOMNULUI, pentru orice om care este nebun și se face pe sine însuși profet, ca să îl pui în închisoare și în butuci.
27 And now, why hast thou not rebuked Jeremiah of 'Anathoth, who prophesieth to you?
De aceea acum de ce nu l-ai mustrat pe Ieremia din Anatot care se face pe sine însuși profet pentru voi?
28 For the reason that he hath sent unto us to Babylon saying, It will last a long time: build ye houses, and dwell therein; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit thereof.
Pentru că el a trimis la noi în Babilon, spunând: Această captivitate este lungă; zidiți-vă case și locuiți în ele și sădiți grădini și mâncați rodul lor.
29 And Zephanyah the priest read the letter before the ears of Jeremiah the prophet.
Și Țefania preotul a citit această scrisoare în urechile profetului Ieremia.
30 Then came the word of the Lord unto Jeremiah, saying,
Atunci a venit cuvântul DOMNULUI la Ieremia, spunând:
31 Send to all the exiles, saying, Thus hath said the Lord concerning Shema'yah the Nechlamite, Whereas Shema'yah hath prophesied unto you, while I have not sent him, and he hath caused you to rely on a falsehood:
Trimite la toți cei captivi, spunând: Astfel spune DOMNUL referitor la Șemaia, nehelamitul: Fiindcă Șemaia v-a profețit vouă fără ca eu să îl trimit și v-a făcut să vă încredeți într-o minciună;
32 Therefore thus hath said the Lord, Behold, I will inflict punishment on Shema'yah the Nechlamite, and on his seed; he shall not have a man to dwell in the midst of this people; and he shall not behold the good that I am doing for my people, saith the Lord; because he hath spoken revolt against the Lord.
De aceea astfel spune DOMNUL: Iată, îl voi pedepsi pe Șemaia, nehelamitul, și sămânța lui; nu va avea vreun bărbat să locuiască printre poporul acesta; nici nu va vedea binele pe care îl voi face pentru poporul meu, spune DOMNUL; deoarece el a învățat pe popor răzvrătire împotriva DOMNULUI.
