Jeremiah 28

1 And it came to pass in the same year, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah the king of Judah, in the fourth year, in the fifth month, that there said unto me Chananyah the son of 'Azzur the prophet, who was from Gib'on, in the house of the Lord, before the eyes of the priests, and of all the people, as followeth,

در همان سال، در ابتدای سلطنت صدقیا، پادشاه یهودا، در ماه پنجم از سال چهارم، یک نبی دروغین به نام حننیا (پسر عزور)، اهل جبعون، در خانهٔ خداوند ایستاد و در مقابل کاهنان و مردم، رو به من کرد و گفت:

2 Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon;

«خداوند لشکرهای آسمان، خدای اسرائیل می‌فرماید: من یوغ بندگی پادشاه بابِل را از گردن شما برمی‌دارم.

3 Within yet two years' time will I cause to be brought back unto this place all the vessels of the house of the Lord, which Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon hath taken away from this place, and which he hath carried to Babylon:

بعد از دو سال، تمام ظروف و اشیاء گرانبهای خانۀ خداوند را که نِبوکَدنِصَّر به بابِل برده، پس خواهم آورد.

4 And Jechonyah the son of Jehoyakim the king of Judah, and all the exiles of Judah that are gone to Babylon, will I cause to return to this place, saith the Lord; for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.

یهویاکین (پسر یهویاقیم) پادشاه یهودا را نیز با تمام کسانی که به بابِل به اسارت رفته‌اند، به اینجا باز خواهم گرداند. بله، من یوغی را که پادشاه بابِل بر گردن شما گذاشته، خواهم شکست. من، خداوند، این را می‌گویم.»

5 Then said Jeremiah the prophet unto Chananyah the prophet before the eyes of the priests, and before the eyes of all the people that stood in the house of the Lord,

آنگاه من در حضور کاهنان و مردمی که در خانهٔ خدا جمع شده بودند، به حننیا گفتم:

6 Yea, then said Jeremiah the prophet, Amen, may the Lord do so: may the Lord fulfill thy words which thou hast prophesied, to cause the vessels of the Lord's house, and all that have been carried into exile, to be brought back from Babylon unto this place.

«آمین! خدا کند پیشگویی‌های تو همه عملی شوند! امیدوارم هر چه گفتی، خداوند همان را بکند و گنجینه‌های این عبادتگاه را با تمام عزیزان ما که در بابِل اسیرند، باز آورد.

7 Nevertheless hear thou now this word which I speak before thy ears, and before the ears of all the people:

ولی حال در حضور تمام این مردم به سخنان من گوش بده!

8 The prophets that have been before me and before thee from olden times prophesied both concerning many countries, and against great kingdoms, respecting war, and respecting evil, and respecting pestilence.

انبیای گذشته که پیش از من و تو بوده‌اند، اکثراً بر ضد قومهای دیگر پیشگویی می‌کردند و همیشه از جنگ و قحطی، بلا و مرض خبر می‌دادند.

9 The prophet who prophesieth of peace, when the word of the prophet doth come to pass, then shall the prophet be known, [as the one] whom the Lord hath sent in truth.

اما آن نبی‌ای که دربارهٔ صلح و آرامش پیشگویی می‌کند، زمانی ثابت می‌شود که از جانب خداوند سخن گفته است که پیشگویی‌اش به انجام برسد.»

10 Then took Chananyah the prophet the yoke-bar from off the neck of Jeremiah the prophet, and broke it.

آنگاه حننیای نبی یوغی را که بر گردن من بود، برداشت و آن را شکست.

11 And Chananyah said before the eyes of all the people, as followeth, Thus hath said the Lord, Even so will I break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon within two years' time from the neck of all the nations. And Jeremiah the prophet went his way.

سپس به جمعیتی که در آنجا بودند، گفت: «خداوند قول داده است که دو سال دیگر یوغ نِبوکَدنِصَّر، پادشاه بابِل را به همین شکل از گردن قومها بردارد و آن را بشکند و ایشان را آزاد سازد.» با شنیدن سخنان او، من از آنجا بیرون رفتم.

12 Then came the word of the Lord unto Jeremiah, after Chananyah the prophet had broken the yoke-bar from off the neck of Jeremiah the prophet, saying,

پس از مدتی خداوند به من فرمود:

13 Go and say unto Chananyah as followeth, Thus hath said the Lord, Yoke-bars of wood hast thou broken; but thou shalt make in their stead yoke-bars of iron.

«برو به حننیا بگو که خداوند چنین می‌فرماید:”تو یوغ چوبین را شکستی، ولی یوغ آهنین جای آن را خواهد گرفت.

14 For thus hath said the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, A yoke of iron have I placed upon the neck of all these nations, that they may serve Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon; and they shall work for him: and also the beasts of the field have I given him.

خداوند لشکرهای آسمان، خدای اسرائیل می‌فرماید: من بر گردن تمام این قومها، یوغ آهنین گذاشته‌ام تا نِبوکَدنِصَّر، پادشاه بابِل را بندگی نمایند. حتی تمام حیوانات وحشی را مطیع او ساخته‌ام!“»

15 Then said Jeremiah the prophet unto Chananyah the prophet, Hear now, Chananyah, The Lord did not send thee; but thou hast caused this people to trust on a falsehood.

آنگاه به حننیا گفتم: «حننیا، گوش کن! خداوند تو را نفرستاده و با تو سخن نگفته است. تو می‌خواهی مردم را مجبور کنی که به وعده‌های دروغین تو امید ببندند.

16 Therefore thus hath said the Lord, Behold, I will send thee away from off the face of the earth: this year shalt thou die, because thou hast spoken rebellion against the Lord.

از این جهت خداوند فرموده که تو خواهی مرد؛ همین امسال عمرت به پایان خواهد رسید، چون مردم را علیه خداوند شورانیده‌ای!»

17 So Chananyah the prophet died in that same year, in the seventh month.

دو ماه بعد، حننیا مرد.
