Jeremiah 28
1 And it came to pass in the same year, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah the king of Judah, in the fourth year, in the fifth month, that there said unto me Chananyah the son of 'Azzur the prophet, who was from Gib'on, in the house of the Lord, before the eyes of the priests, and of all the people, as followeth,
Cette même année, au commencement du règne de Sédécias, roi de Juda, la quatrième année, le cinquième mois, le prophète Hananias, fils d’Azur, de Gabaon, me dit, dans la maison de Yahweh, en présence des prêtres et de tout le peuple:
2 Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon;
Ainsi parle Yahweh des armées, Dieu d’Israël: J’ai brisé le joug du roi de Babylone.
3 Within yet two years' time will I cause to be brought back unto this place all the vessels of the house of the Lord, which Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon hath taken away from this place, and which he hath carried to Babylon:
Encore deux ans, et je ramènerai dans ce lieu tous les ustensiles de la maison de Yahweh, que Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, a enlevés de ce lieu et qu’il a emportés à Babylone.
4 And Jechonyah the son of Jehoyakim the king of Judah, and all the exiles of Judah that are gone to Babylon, will I cause to return to this place, saith the Lord; for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.
Et je ferai revenir dans ce lieu Jéchonias, fils de Joakim, roi de Juda, et tous les captifs de Juda qui sont allés à Babylone, — oracle de Yahweh —, car je briserai le joug du roi de Babylone.
5 Then said Jeremiah the prophet unto Chananyah the prophet before the eyes of the priests, and before the eyes of all the people that stood in the house of the Lord,
Et Jérémie le prophète répondit à Hananias le prophète, en présence des prêtres et en présence de tout le peuple qui se tenaient dans la maison de Yahweh.
6 Yea, then said Jeremiah the prophet, Amen, may the Lord do so: may the Lord fulfill thy words which thou hast prophesied, to cause the vessels of the Lord's house, and all that have been carried into exile, to be brought back from Babylon unto this place.
Jérémie le prophète dit: Amen! Ainsi fasse Yahweh! Que Yahweh accomplisse les paroles que tu viens de prophétiser, en ramenant de Babylone en ce lieu les ustensiles de la maison de Yahweh et tous les captifs!
7 Nevertheless hear thou now this word which I speak before thy ears, and before the ears of all the people:
Toutefois entends cette parole que je prononce à tes oreilles et aux oreilles de tout le peuple:
8 The prophets that have been before me and before thee from olden times prophesied both concerning many countries, and against great kingdoms, respecting war, and respecting evil, and respecting pestilence.
Les prophètes qui ont été avant moi et avant toi, dès les temps anciens, ont prophétisé à de nombreux pays et à de grands royaumes la guerre, le malheur et la peste.
9 The prophet who prophesieth of peace, when the word of the prophet doth come to pass, then shall the prophet be known, [as the one] whom the Lord hath sent in truth.
Quant au prophète qui prophétise la paix, ce sera lorsque s’accomplira la parole de ce prophète qu’il sera reconnu pour le prophète véritablement envoyé par Yahweh.
10 Then took Chananyah the prophet the yoke-bar from off the neck of Jeremiah the prophet, and broke it.
Alors Hananias le prophète prit le joug de dessus le cou de Jérémie le prophète, et le brisa.
11 And Chananyah said before the eyes of all the people, as followeth, Thus hath said the Lord, Even so will I break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon within two years' time from the neck of all the nations. And Jeremiah the prophet went his way.
Et Hananias dit en présence de tout le peuple: Ainsi parle Yahweh: C’est ainsi que dans deux ans je briserai le joug de Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, de dessus le cou de toutes les nations. Et Jérémie le prophète s’en alla.
12 Then came the word of the Lord unto Jeremiah, after Chananyah the prophet had broken the yoke-bar from off the neck of Jeremiah the prophet, saying,
Et la parole de Yahweh fut adressée à Jérémie, — après que Hananias le prophète eut brisé le joug de dessus le cou de Jérémie le prophète, — en ces termes:
13 Go and say unto Chananyah as followeth, Thus hath said the Lord, Yoke-bars of wood hast thou broken; but thou shalt make in their stead yoke-bars of iron.
Va, parle à Hananias en ces termes: Ainsi parle Yahweh: Tu as brisé un joug de bois, et tu as fait à sa place un joug de fer.
14 For thus hath said the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, A yoke of iron have I placed upon the neck of all these nations, that they may serve Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon; and they shall work for him: and also the beasts of the field have I given him.
Car ainsi parle Yahweh des armées, Dieu d’Israël: Je mets un joug de fer sur le cou de toutes ces nations, pour qu’elles soient assujetties à Nabuchodonosor, et elles lui seront assujetties; je lui ai donné même les animaux des champs.
15 Then said Jeremiah the prophet unto Chananyah the prophet, Hear now, Chananyah, The Lord did not send thee; but thou hast caused this people to trust on a falsehood.
Puis Jérémie le prophète dit à Hananias le prophète: Ecoute, Hananias: Yahweh ne t’a pas envoyé, et tu as fait que ce peuple se confie au mensonge.
16 Therefore thus hath said the Lord, Behold, I will send thee away from off the face of the earth: this year shalt thou die, because thou hast spoken rebellion against the Lord.
C’est pourquoi ainsi parle Yahweh: Voici que je te renvoie de la face de la terre; cette année même tu mourras, car tu as prêché la révolte contre Yahweh.
17 So Chananyah the prophet died in that same year, in the seventh month.
Et Hananias le prophète mourut cette même année, au septième mois.
