Jeremiah 25
1 The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah, in the fourth year of Jehoyakim the son of Josiah the king of Judah, which is the first year of Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon;
La palabra que llegó a Jeremías sobre todo el pueblo de Judá, en el cuarto año de Joacim hijo de Josías, rey de Judá (era el primer año de Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia),
2 Which Jeremiah the prophet spoke concerning all the people of Judah, and to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying,
que el profeta Jeremías habló a todo el pueblo de Judá y a todos los habitantes de Jerusalén:
3 From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon the king of Judah, even until this day, that is now three and twenty years, the word of the Lord hath come unto me, and I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking; but ye have not hearkened.
Desde el año trece de Josías hijo de Amón, rey de Judá, hasta el día de hoy, estos veintitrés años, me ha llegado la palabra de Yahvé, y os he hablado, madrugando y hablando; pero no habéis escuchado.
4 And the Lord hath sent unto you all his servants the prophets, making [them] rise early and sending [them]; but ye have not hearkened, and have not inclined your ear to hear.
Yahvé os ha enviado a todos sus siervos los profetas, madrugando y enviándolos (pero no habéis escuchado ni inclinado vuestro oído para oír),
5 They said, O do turn away every one from his evil way, and from the wrongfulness of your doings; and ye shall remain in the land that the Lord hath given unto you and to your fathers, for from eternity to eternity;
diciendo: “Volved ahora cada uno de su mal camino y de la maldad de vuestras acciones, y habitad en la tierra que Yahvé os ha dado a vosotros y a vuestros padres, desde siempre y para siempre.
6 And go not after other gods to serve them, and to bow down to them, and provoke me not to anger with the works of your hands; and I will not injure you.
No vayan en pos de otros dioses para servirlos o adorarlos, y no me provoquen a ira con la obra de sus manos; entonces no les haré ningún daño.”
7 Yet have ye not hearkened unto me, saith the Lord: in order that ye might provoke me to anger with the works of your own hands to your own injury.
“Sin embargo, no me habéis escuchado — dice Yahvé —, para provocarme a la ira con la obra de vuestras manos para vuestro propio perjuicio.”
8 Therefore thus hath said the Lord of hosts, Because ye have not hearkened to my words:
Por eso dice Yahvé de los Ejércitos: “Porque no habéis oído mis palabras,
9 Behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, saith the Lord, and to Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and I will bring them over this land, and over its inhabitants, and over all these nations round about, and I will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and a derision, and perpetual ruins.
he aquí que enviaré y tomaré a todas las familias del norte — dice Yahvé — y enviaré a Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, mi siervo, y los traeré contra esta tierra, y contra sus habitantes, y contra todas estas naciones de alrededor. Los destruiré por completo, y los convertiré en un asombro, en un silbido y en una desolación perpetua.
10 And I will banish from them the voice of gladness, and the voice of joy, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the sound of the mill, and the light of the lamp.
Además, les quitaré la voz del gozo y la voz de la alegría, la voz del novio y la voz de la novia, el sonido de las piedras de molino y la luz de la lámpara.
11 And this whole land shall become a ruin and an [object of] astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.
Toda esta tierra será una desolación y un asombro; y estas naciones servirán al rey de Babilonia durante setenta años.
12 And it shall come to pass, when seventy years are completed, that I will visit on the king of Babylon, and on that nation, saith the Lord, their iniquity, and on the land of the Chaldeans, and will change it into perpetual desolations.
“Sucederá que cuando se cumplan setenta años, castigaré al rey de Babilonia y a esa nación — dice el Señor — por su iniquidad. Haré que la tierra de los caldeos quede desolada para siempre.
13 And I will bring over that land all my words which I have spoken concerning it, all that is written in this book, which Jeremiah hath prophesied concerning all the nations.
Traeré sobre esa tierra todas mis palabras que he pronunciado contra ella, todo lo que está escrito en este libro, que Jeremías ha profetizado contra todas las naciones.
14 For when many nations and great kings shall have made them also serve: I will then recompense them according to their deeds, and according to the work of their own hands.
Porque muchas naciones y grandes reyes los harán siervos, incluso de ellos. Los recompensaré según sus hechos y según la obra de sus manos”.
15 For thus hath said the Lord the God of Israel unto me, Take the cup of the wine of this fury out of my hand, and cause all the nations to whom I send thee to drink it.
Porque Yahvé, el Dios de Israel, me dice “Toma de mi mano esta copa del vino de la ira, y haz que la beban todas las naciones a las que te envío.
16 And they shall drink, and reel about, and be mad, because of the sword that I will send among them.
Beberán, se tambalearán y se volverán locos, a causa de la espada que enviaré entre ellos.”
17 And I took the cup out of the hand of the Lord, and caused to drink all the nations, unto whom the Lord had sent me:
Entonces tomé la copa de la mano de Yahvé, e hice beber a todas las naciones a las que Yahvé me había enviado:
18 Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, and its kings, and its princes, to make them a ruin, an astonishment, a derision, and a curse; as it is this day;
Jerusalén y las ciudades de Judá, con sus reyes y sus príncipes, para convertirlas en desolación, asombro, silbido y maldición, como lo es hoy;
19 Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and his servants, and his princes, and all his people;
Faraón, rey de Egipto, con sus siervos, sus príncipes y todo su pueblo
20 And all the confederated nations, and all the kings of the land of 'Uz, and all the kings of the land of the Philistines, and Ashkelon, and Gazzah, and 'Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod;
y todo el pueblo mixto, y todos los reyes de la tierra de Uz, todos los reyes de los filisteos, Ascalón, Gaza, Ecrón y el resto de Asdod;
21 Edom, and Moab, and the children of 'Ammon;
Edom, Moab y los hijos de Amón
22 And all the kings of Tyre, and all the kings of Zidon, and the kings of the isle which is beyond the sea;
y todos los reyes de Tiro, todos los reyes de Sidón, y los reyes de la isla que está al otro lado del mar;
23 Dedan, and Thema, and Buz, and all those that have their hair cut round;
Dedán, Tema, Buz, y todos los que tienen las comisuras de la barba cortadas;
24 And all the kings of Arabia, and all the kings of the confederated nations that dwell in the wilderness;
y todos los reyes de Arabia, todos los reyes de los pueblos mixtos que habitan en el desierto
25 And all the kings of Zimri, and all the kings of 'Elam, and all the kings of Media;
y todos los reyes de Zimri, todos los reyes de Elam, y todos los reyes de los medos;
26 And all the kings of the north, that are far and that are near, one with another, and all the kingdoms of the world, which are upon the face of the earth; and the king of Sheshach shall drink after them.
y todos los reyes del norte, de lejos y de cerca, unos con otros; y todos los reinos del mundo, que están sobre la superficie de la tierra. El rey de Sheshach beberá después de ellos.
27 And thou shalt say unto them, Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Drink ye, and become drunken, and vomit, and fall, and rise no more, because of the sword, which I am sending among you.
“Les dirás: ‘El Señor de los Ejércitos, el Dios de Israel, dice: “Bebed y embriagaos, vomitad, caed y no os levantéis más, a causa de la espada que voy a enviar entre vosotros”’.
28 And it shall be, if they refuse to take the cup of thy hand to drink, that thou shalt say unto them, Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, Ye must certainly drink;
Si se niegan a tomar la copa de tu mano para beber, les dirás: “El Señor de los Ejércitos dice: “Bebed sin falta.
29 For lo, on the city which is called by my name, I begin to inflict evil, and ye will remain utterly unpunished? Ye shall not remain unpunished; for a sword am I calling up over all the inhabitants of the earth, saith the Lord of hosts.
Porque he aquí que yo comienzo a obrar el mal en la ciudad que se llama con mi nombre; ¿y tú has de quedar totalmente impune? No quedarás impune; porque llamaré a la espada a todos los habitantes de la tierra, dice el Señor de los Ejércitos”.
30 But thou, do thou prophesy concerning them all these words, and say unto them, The Lord will cry aloud from on high, and from his holy habitation will he send forth his voice; he will cry out very loudly over his habitation; the vintner's call, as they that tread out the grapes, will he lift up against all the inhabitants of the earth.
“Por tanto, profetiza contra ellos todas estas palabras, y diles, “‘Yahvé rugirá desde lo alto, y pronuncie su voz desde su santa morada. Rugirá poderosamente contra su redil. Dará un grito, como los que pisan las uvas, contra todos los habitantes de la tierra.
31 A tumultuous noise cometh even to the ends of the earth; for the Lord hath a controversy with the nations, he holdeth judgment over all flesh: the wicked, —these he giveth up to the sword, saith the Lord.
Un ruido llegará hasta el final de la tierra; porque Yahvé tiene una controversia con las naciones. Entrará en juicio con toda la carne. En cuanto a los malvados, los entregará a la espada”, dice Yahvé”.
32 Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, Behold, evil goeth forth from nation to nation, and a great storm-wind waketh up from the farthest ends of the earth.
El Señor de los Ejércitos dice, “He aquí que el mal saldrá de nación en nación, y se levantará una gran tormenta desde los confines de la tierra”.
33 And the slain of the Lord shall be on that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth: they shall not be lamented, nor gathered up, nor buried; they shall be as dung upon the surface of the ground.
Los muertos de Yahvé estarán en ese día desde un extremo de la tierra hasta el otro extremo de la tierra. No serán lamentados. No serán recogidos ni enterrados. Serán estiércol en la superficie de la tierra.
34 Wail, ye shepherds, and cry; and roll yourselves about [in the dust], ye leaders of the flocks; for full are your days for you to be slaughtered, and I will scatter you; and you shall fall like a costly vessel.
Aullad, pastores, y llorad. Revuélcate en el polvo, líder del rebaño; porque los días de tu matanza y de tus dispersiones han llegado plenamente, y caerás como la cerámica fina.
35 And lost shall be the place of refuge for the shepherds, and the escape for the leaders of the flocks to escape.
Los pastores no tendrán forma de huir. El líder del rebaño no tendrá escapatoria.
36 There is the voice of the cry of anguish of the shepherds, and the wailing of the leaders of the flocks; for the Lord hath devastated their pasture.
La voz del grito de los pastores, y el lamento del líder del rebaño, porque Yahvé destruye sus pastos.
37 And in silent desolation lie the pasture-lands of peace, because of the fierceness of the anger of the Lord.
Los pacíficos pliegues son llevados al silencio a causa de la feroz ira de Yahvé.
38 He hath forsaken his covert, like the young lion; for their land is become desolate, because of the fierceness of the wasting [sword], and because of the fierceness of his anger.
Ha abandonado su guarida, como el león; porque su tierra se ha convertido en un asombro a causa de la ferocidad de la opresión, y por su feroz ira.
