Jeremiah 22
1 Thus said the Lord, Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and speak there this word;
Yahvé dijo: “Baja a la casa del rey de Judá y di allí esta palabra:
2 And thou shalt say, Hear the word of the Lord, O king of Judah, that sittest upon the throne of David, thou, and thy servants, and thy people that enter in by these gates:
‘Escucha la palabra de Yahvé, rey de Judá, que se sienta en el trono de David: tú, tus siervos y tu pueblo que entran por estas puertas.
3 Thus hath said the Lord, Execute ye justice and righteousness, and deliver him that is robbed out of the hand of the oppressor; and the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow shall ye not oppress, and do them no violence, and shed no innocent blood in this place.
Yahvé dice: “Ejecuta el derecho y la justicia, y libera al despojado de la mano del opresor. No hagas ningún mal. No hagas violencia al extranjero, al huérfano o a la viuda. No derrames sangre inocente en este lugar.
4 For if ye indeed will do this thing, then shall enter in through the gates of this house kings sitting after David upon his throne, riding in chariots and on horses, he, and his servants, and his people.
Porque si hacéis esto, los reyes que se sientan en el trono de David entrarán por las puertas de esta casa, montados en carros y en caballos: ellos, sus siervos y su pueblo.
5 But if ye will not hear these words, then do I swear by myself, saith the Lord, that this house shall become a ruin.
Pero si no escuchan estas palabras, juro por mí mismo — dice el Señor — que esta casa se convertirá en una desolación”.
6 For thus hath said the Lord concerning the house of the king of Judah, A Gil'ad [though] thou art unto me, a summit of the Lebanon: yet I will surely change thee into a wilderness, cities which are not inhabited.
Porque Yahvé dice sobre la casa del rey de Judá: “Tú eres Gilead para mí, el jefe del Líbano. Sin embargo, ciertamente te convertiré en un desierto, ciudades que no están habitadas.
7 And I will make ready against thee destroyers, every one with his weapons: and they shall cut down the choice of thy cedars, and cast them into the fire.
Prepararé destructores contra ti, todos con sus armas, y cortarán sus cedros preferidos, y los echó al fuego.
8 And [when] many nations [then] pass by this city, they will say every man to his neighbor, Wherefore hath the Lord done the like unto this great city?
“Muchas naciones pasarán por esta ciudad, y cada una de ellas preguntará a su vecino: “¿Por qué ha hecho esto Yahvé a esta gran ciudad?”
9 Then shall they say, Because they had forsaken the covenant of the Lord their God, and bowed down unto other gods, and served them.
Entonces responderán: “Porque abandonaron la alianza de Yahvé, su Dios, adoraron a otros dioses y les sirvieron.”
10 Weep not for the dead, and do not bemoan him: weep sorely for him that goeth away; for he shall never return any more, and see the land of his birth.
No llores por los muertos. No lo lamentes; pero llora amargamente por el que se va, porque no volverá más, y no ver su país natal.
11 For thus hath said the Lord respecting Shallum the son of Josiah the king of Judah, who reigneth in the place of Josiah his father, who is gone forth out of this place, He shall never return thither any more;
Porque el Señor dice tocando a Salum, hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, que reinó en lugar de su padre Josías, y que salió de este lugar “No volverá más allí.
12 But in the place whither they have led him into exile, there shall he die; but this land shall he not see any more.
Pero morirá en el lugar donde lo han llevado cautivo. No volverá a ver esta tierra”.
13 Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by injustice; that maketh his neighbor work without wages, and giveth him not the reward for his labor;
“Ay del que construye su casa con la injusticia, y sus habitaciones por la injusticia; que utiliza el servicio de su vecino sin cobrar, y no le da su alquiler;
14 That saith, I will build me a roomy house, and ample chambers, and cutteth himself out windows, and ceileth it with cedar, and painteth it with colors.
que dice: “Voy a construirme una casa amplia y habitaciones espaciosas”. y recorta las ventanas para sí mismo, con un techo de cedro, y pintado de rojo.
15 Shalt thou reign, because thou strivest to excel with cedar buildings? behold, thy father ate and drank, but he executed justice and righteousness: then was it well with him!
“¿Debes reinar porque te esfuerzas por sobresalir en el cedro? ¿Tu padre no comía y bebía? y hacer justicia y rectitud? Entonces le fue bien.
16 He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then was it well: is not this the proper knowledge of me? saith the Lord.
Juzgó la causa de los pobres y necesitados; así que entonces estaba bien. ¿No era esto para conocerme?” dice Yahvé.
17 But thy eyes and thy heart are directed on nothing but upon thy own gain, and upon innocent blood to shed it, and upon oppression, and upon extortion, to practise them.
Pero tus ojos y tu corazón son sólo para tu codicia, por derramar sangre inocente, para la opresión, y para hacer violencia”.
18 Therefore thus hath said the Lord concerning Jehoyakim the son of Josiah the king of Judah, They shall not lament for him, with, “Woe, my brother!” and, “Woe, sister!” they shall not lament for him, with “Woe, lord!” and, “Woe, to his glory!”
Por lo tanto, Yahvé dice respecto a Joacim, hijo de Josías, rey de Judá “No se lamentarán por él, diciendo: “¡Ah, mi hermano!” o “¡Ah, hermana! No se lamentarán por él, diciendo “¡Ah señor!” o, “¡Ah su gloria!
19 With the burial of an ass shall he be buried, dragged about and cast forth beyond the gates of Jerusalem.
Será enterrado con la sepultura de un burro, arrastrados y expulsados más allá de las puertas de Jerusalén”.
20 Ascend the Lebanon, and cry aloud; and let thy voice resound in Bashan; and cry aloud from 'Aharim; for crushed are all thy lovers.
“Sube al Líbano y grita. Alza tu voz en Basán, y claman desde Abarim; porque todos tus amantes han sido destruidos.
21 I spoke unto thee in thy prosperity; but thou saidst, I will not hear. This hath been thy manner from thy very youth, that thou didst not hearken to my voice.
Te hablé en tu prosperidad, pero tú dijiste: “No voy a escuchar”. Este ha sido tu camino desde tu juventud, que no obedeciste mi voz.
22 The wind shall scatter abroad all thy shepherds, and thy lovers shall go into captivity: surely then shalt thou be ashamed and confounded because of all thy wickedness.
El viento alimentará a todos tus pastores, y tus amantes irán al cautiverio. Seguramente entonces te avergonzarás y confundido por toda tu maldad.
23 O inhabitress of Lebanon, that makest thy nest in the cedars, how full of grace wilt thou be! when pangs come upon thee, the pain as of a woman in travail!
Habitante del Líbano, que hace su nido en los cedros, que se compadecerá de ti cuando te lleguen los dolores, ¡el dolor como el de una mujer de parto!
24 As I live, saith the Lord, though Conyahu the son of Jehoyakim the king of Judah were a signet upon my right hand, yet for a surety would I thence pluck thee;
“Vivo yo — dice el Señor — que aunque Conías, hijo de Joacim, rey de Judá, fuera el sello de mi mano derecha, te arrancaría de allí.
25 And I will give thee into the hand of those that seek thy life, and into the hand of those of whom thou art afraid, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans.
Te entregaría a la mano de los que buscan tu vida, y a la mano de los que te dan miedo, a la mano de Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, y a la mano de los caldeos.
26 And I will hurl thee out, and thy mother that hath born thee, into another country, where ye were not born; and there shall ye die.
Te echaré con tu madre que te dio a luz a otro país, donde no naciste, y allí morirás.
27 But to the land whitherward they direct their soul to return, thither shall they not return.
Pero a la tierra a la que su alma anhela regresar, allí no volverán”.
28 Is this man Conyahu a despised broken image? or a vessel without value? wherefore are they hurled out, he and his seed, and are cast forth into a land which they know not?
¿Es este hombre, Conías, un vaso roto y despreciado? ¿Es un recipiente en el que nadie se deleita? Por qué son expulsados, él y su descendencia, y arrojados a una tierra que no conocen?
29 O land, land, land! hear the word of the Lord.
Oh, tierra, tierra, tierra, ¡escuchen la palabra de Yahvé!
30 Thus hath said the Lord, Write ye down this man as childless, as a man that shall not prosper in his days; for no man of his seed shall succeed to sit upon the throne of David, and to rule any more in Judah.
Dice Yahvé, “Registra a este hombre como sin hijos, un hombre que no prosperará en sus días; porque ya no prosperará el hombre de su descendencia, sentado en el trono de David y gobernando en Judá”.
