Jeremiah 22
1 Thus said the Lord, Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and speak there this word;
Tak mówi PAN: Zejdź do domu króla Judy i mów tam to słowo;
2 And thou shalt say, Hear the word of the Lord, O king of Judah, that sittest upon the throne of David, thou, and thy servants, and thy people that enter in by these gates:
Powiedz: Słuchaj słowa PANA, królu Judy, który zasiadasz na tronie Dawida, ty i twoi słudzy oraz twój lud, którzy wchodzicie przez te bramy.
3 Thus hath said the Lord, Execute ye justice and righteousness, and deliver him that is robbed out of the hand of the oppressor; and the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow shall ye not oppress, and do them no violence, and shed no innocent blood in this place.
Tak mówi PAN: Wykonajcie sąd i sprawiedliwość i wybawiajcie uciśnionego z ręki ciemięzcy. Nie krzywdźcie ani nie uciskajcie obcego, sieroty i wdowy i nie przelewajcie krwi niewinnej na tym miejscu.
4 For if ye indeed will do this thing, then shall enter in through the gates of this house kings sitting after David upon his throne, riding in chariots and on horses, he, and his servants, and his people.
Jeśli bowiem rzeczywiście spełnicie to słowo, wtedy będą wchodzić przez bramy tego domu królowie zasiadający na tronie, jeżdżący na rydwanach i na koniach, [sam] król i jego słudzy, i jego lud.
5 But if ye will not hear these words, then do I swear by myself, saith the Lord, that this house shall become a ruin.
Lecz jeśli nie posłuchacie tych słów, sam na siebie przysięgam, mówi PAN, że ten dom stanie się pustkowiem.
6 For thus hath said the Lord concerning the house of the king of Judah, A Gil'ad [though] thou art unto me, a summit of the Lebanon: yet I will surely change thee into a wilderness, cities which are not inhabited.
Tak bowiem mówi PAN o domu króla Judy: Ty jesteś mi Gileadem [i] szczytem Libanu, lecz naprawdę zamienię cię w pustynię [i] w miasta niezamieszkane.
7 And I will make ready against thee destroyers, every one with his weapons: and they shall cut down the choice of thy cedars, and cast them into the fire.
I przygotuję przeciwko tobie niszczycieli, każdego ze swoim sprzętem. Wytną twoje wyborne cedry i wrzucą je w ogień.
8 And [when] many nations [then] pass by this city, they will say every man to his neighbor, Wherefore hath the Lord done the like unto this great city?
I wiele narodów będzie przechodzić koło tego miasta, i powiedzą jeden do drugiego: Dlaczego PAN tak uczynił temu wielkiemu miastu?
9 Then shall they say, Because they had forsaken the covenant of the Lord their God, and bowed down unto other gods, and served them.
Wtedy odpowiedzą: Dlatego że porzucili przymierze PANA, swego Boga, a oddawali pokłon innym bogom i służyli im.
10 Weep not for the dead, and do not bemoan him: weep sorely for him that goeth away; for he shall never return any more, and see the land of his birth.
Nie opłakujcie zmarłego ani nie żałujcie go, [lecz] nieustannie płaczcie nad tym, który odchodzi, bo już nigdy nie wróci ani nie zobaczy swojej rodzinnej ziemi.
11 For thus hath said the Lord respecting Shallum the son of Josiah the king of Judah, who reigneth in the place of Josiah his father, who is gone forth out of this place, He shall never return thither any more;
Tak bowiem mówi PAN o Szallumie, synu Jozjasza, króla Judy, który królował w miejsce Jozjasza, swego ojca, który wyszedł z tego miejsca: Już nigdy nie wróci;
12 But in the place whither they have led him into exile, there shall he die; but this land shall he not see any more.
Ale umrze na tym miejscu, gdzie go przeniosą, i już nie zobaczy tej ziemi.
13 Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by injustice; that maketh his neighbor work without wages, and giveth him not the reward for his labor;
Biada temu, kto buduje swój dom na niesprawiedliwości, a swoje komnaty na krzywdzie; kto swemu bliźniemu każe pracować za darmo i nie daje mu jego zapłaty;
14 That saith, I will build me a roomy house, and ample chambers, and cutteth himself out windows, and ceileth it with cedar, and painteth it with colors.
Który mówi: Zbuduję sobie wielki dom i przestronne komnaty; wybija sobie okna, wykłada jego wnętrze drzewem cedrowym i maluje cynobrem.
15 Shalt thou reign, because thou strivest to excel with cedar buildings? behold, thy father ate and drank, but he executed justice and righteousness: then was it well with him!
Czy będziesz królował dlatego, że otaczasz się cedrem? Czyż twój ojciec nie jadał i nie pijał? A kiedy wykonywał sąd i sprawiedliwość, wtedy było mu dobrze.
16 He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then was it well: is not this the proper knowledge of me? saith the Lord.
Gdy sądził sprawę ubogiego i nędznego, wtedy było mu dobrze. Czy nie [na tym polega] poznanie mnie? – mówi PAN.
17 But thy eyes and thy heart are directed on nothing but upon thy own gain, and upon innocent blood to shed it, and upon oppression, and upon extortion, to practise them.
Lecz twoje oczy i serce pragną jedynie własnej korzyści, przelania niewinnej krwi, wywierania ucisku oraz przemocy.
18 Therefore thus hath said the Lord concerning Jehoyakim the son of Josiah the king of Judah, They shall not lament for him, with, “Woe, my brother!” and, “Woe, sister!” they shall not lament for him, with “Woe, lord!” and, “Woe, to his glory!”
Dlatego tak mówi PAN o Joakimie, synu Jozjasza, króla Judy: Nie będą go opłakiwać [ani mówić]: Ach, mój bracie! Albo: Ach, siostro! Nie będą go opłakiwać [ani mówić]: Ach, panie! Albo: Ach, jego majestat!
19 With the burial of an ass shall he be buried, dragged about and cast forth beyond the gates of Jerusalem.
Będzie pogrzebany jak osioł, wywloką go i wyrzucą poza bramy Jerozolimy.
20 Ascend the Lebanon, and cry aloud; and let thy voice resound in Bashan; and cry aloud from 'Aharim; for crushed are all thy lovers.
Wejdź na Liban i wołaj, na Baszanie podnieś swój głos, wołaj też z przełęczy, gdyż wszyscy twoi kochankowie zostali zniszczeni.
21 I spoke unto thee in thy prosperity; but thou saidst, I will not hear. This hath been thy manner from thy very youth, that thou didst not hearken to my voice.
Przemówiłem do ciebie w czasie twojej pomyślności, [ale] powiedziałaś: Nie posłucham. Taka jest twoja droga od twej młodości, nie usłuchałaś mojego głosu.
22 The wind shall scatter abroad all thy shepherds, and thy lovers shall go into captivity: surely then shalt thou be ashamed and confounded because of all thy wickedness.
Wiatr rozproszy wszystkich twoich pasterzy i twoi kochankowie pójdą w niewolę. Wtedy będziesz się rumienić i wstydzić z powodu całej twojej niegodziwości.
23 O inhabitress of Lebanon, that makest thy nest in the cedars, how full of grace wilt thou be! when pangs come upon thee, the pain as of a woman in travail!
Ty, która mieszkasz na Libanie, która robisz sobie gniazdo wśród cedrów, jakże będziesz pełna wdzięku, gdy ogarną cię boleści jak bóle rodzącej!
24 As I live, saith the Lord, though Conyahu the son of Jehoyakim the king of Judah were a signet upon my right hand, yet for a surety would I thence pluck thee;
Jak żyję ja, mówi PAN, choćby Choniasz, syn Joakima, króla Judy, był sygnetem na mojej prawej ręce, zerwałbym cię stamtąd;
25 And I will give thee into the hand of those that seek thy life, and into the hand of those of whom thou art afraid, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans.
I wydam cię w ręce tych, którzy czyhają na twoje życie, i w ręce tych, których twarzy ty się lękasz, to jest, w ręce Nabuchodonozora, króla Babilonu, i w ręce Chaldejczyków;
26 And I will hurl thee out, and thy mother that hath born thee, into another country, where ye were not born; and there shall ye die.
Wyrzucę ciebie i twoją matkę, która cię urodziła, do obcej ziemi, w której się nie urodziliście, i tam pomrzecie.
27 But to the land whitherward they direct their soul to return, thither shall they not return.
Lecz do ziemi, za którą będą tęsknić, aby tam wrócić, nie wrócą.
28 Is this man Conyahu a despised broken image? or a vessel without value? wherefore are they hurled out, he and his seed, and are cast forth into a land which they know not?
Czy ten człowiek, Choniasz, jest posągiem wzgardzonym i zdruzgotanym? Albo naczyniem, w którym nie ma żadnego piękna? Czemu zostali odrzuceni on i jego potomstwo i wyrzuceni do ziemi, której nie znają?
29 O land, land, land! hear the word of the Lord.
Ziemio, ziemio, ziemio! Słuchaj słowa PANA.
30 Thus hath said the Lord, Write ye down this man as childless, as a man that shall not prosper in his days; for no man of his seed shall succeed to sit upon the throne of David, and to rule any more in Judah.
Tak mówi PAN: Zapiszcie tego człowieka jako bezpotomnego i że mu się nie poszczęści za jego dni. Nie poszczęści się nikomu z jego potomstwa, by zasiąść na tronie Dawida i panować jeszcze w Judzie.
