Jeremiah 18
1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,
परमप्रभुको वचन यर्मियाकहाँ यसो भनेर आयो,
2 Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there will I let thee hear my words.
“उठ् र कुमालेको घरमा जा, किनकि त्यहाँ म तँलाई मेरो वचन सुनाउनेछु ।”
3 Then went I down to the potter's house, and, behold, he was doing work on the wheels.
त्यसैले म कुमालेको घरमा गएँ र हेरें । कुमाले आफ्नो चक्कामा काम गरिरहेको थियो ।
4 And the vessel that he was making became spoiled as [happeneth] with the clay in the hand of the potter; and he made again thereof another vessel, as it seemed good in the eyes of the potter to make it.
तर त्यसले बनाइरहेको माटोको भाँडो त्यसको आफ्नै हातमा बिग्रियो । त्यसैले उसले आफ्नो मन बद्ल्यो र आफ्नो दृष्टिमा असल लागेअनुसार अर्को भाँडो बनायो ।
5 Then came the word of the Lord to me, saying,
तब परमप्रभुको यो वचन यसो भनेर मकहाँ आयो,
6 Shall I not be able to do unto you as this potter, O house of Israel? saith the Lord. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in my hand, O house of Israel.
“ए इस्राएलका घराना हो, के म तिमीहरूलाई यही कुमालेले जस्तै गर्न सक्दिनँ र? यो परमप्रभुको घोषणा हो । हेर, ए इस्राएलका घराना हो, कुमालेको हातमा माटो भएझैं तिमीहरू मेरो हातमा तेस्तै छौ ।
7 At one instant I speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy it;
एक समय एक जाति वा राज्यलाई म धपाउनेछु, त्यसलाई तोड्नेछु वा नष्ट गर्नेछु भनी म घोषणा गर्न सक्छु ।
8 But should that nation, against whom I have spoken, return from their wrong-doing: then will I bethink me of the evil that I had thought to do unto them.
तर मैले त्यस्तो घोषणा गरेको त्यो जाति दुष्ट्याइँबाट फर्कन्छ भने मैले त्यसमाथि ल्याउने योजना गरेको विपत्ति म ल्याउनेछैनँ ।
9 And at one instant I speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it;
अर्को समयमा मैले कुनै जाति वा राज्यलाई बनाउने वा रोप्नेछु भनी म घोषणा गर्न सक्छु ।
10 But should it do what is evil in my eyes, so as not to hearken to my voice: then will I bethink me of the good, wherewith I had thought to benefit the same.
तर मेरो कुरा नसुनेर त्यसले मेरो दृष्टिमा खराबी गर्छ भने, मैले त्यसलाई गर्नेछु भनेको घोषणाको भलाइ गर्न म रोक्नेछु ।
11 And now do say to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, as followeth, Thus hath said the Lord, Behold, I form against you evil, and devise against you a device: do but return now every one from his evil way, and amend your ways and your deeds.
त्यसैले अब, यहूदाका मानिसहरू र यरूसलेमका बासिन्दाहरूसित बोल् र भन्, “परमप्रभु यसो भन्नुहुन्छ, 'हेर, मैले तिमीहरूको विरुद्धमा विपत्तिको रचना गर्नै लागेको छु । मैले तिमीहरूको विरुद्धमा योजना बनाउने लागेको छु । तिमीहरूका चाल र तिमीहरूका अभ्यासहरूले तिमीहरूलाई भलो ल्याउने गरी हरेक व्यक्तिले आफ्नो दुष्ट चालबाट पश्चात्ताप गरोस् ।'
12 And they said, It is useless: for after our own thoughts will we walk, and we will every one do after the stubbornness of his evil heart.
तर तिनीहरू भन्छन्, 'यो व्यर्थ छ । हामी आफ्नै योजनाअनुसार काम गर्नेछौं । हामी हरेकले आफ्नै दुष्ट, हठी हृदयले इच्छा गरेअनुसार गर्नेछौं ।'
13 Therefore thus hath said the Lord, Only ask among the nations, Who hath heard the like things? a very horrible act hath the virgin of Israel committed.
त्यसकारण परमप्रभु यसो भन्नुहुन्छ, “जातिहरूलाई सोध्, यो जस्तो कुरो कसले कहिलै सुनेको छ? इस्राएली कन्याले अति घृणित काम गरेकी छे ।
14 Doth the snow of Lebanon ever quit the rock of the field? or do the far-coming, cold, flowing waters ever fail?
के लेबनानको हिउँले कहिल्यै यसका चट्टानका पहाडहरूलाई छोड्छ र? के टाढाबाट आउने पहाडका नदीहरू, ती चिसा नदीहरू कहिल्यै सुक्छन् र?
15 That my people have forgotten me, that they have burnt incense to false gods, and are made to stumble on their ways, the ancient beaten tracks, to walk in paths, on a road which is not leveled?
तापनि मेरा मानिसहरूले मलाई भुलेका छन् । तिनीहरूले बेकम्मा मूर्तिहरूलाई भेटी चढाएका छन्, र आफ्ना मार्गहरूमा ठक्कर खाएका छन् । कच्ची बाटोमा हिंड्न भनेर तिनीहरूले प्राचीन बाटोलाई छाडेका छन् ।
16 To make their land desolate, a perpetual derision: every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished, and shake his head.
तिनीहरूको देश त्रास बन्नेछ । सदासर्वदा गिल्लाको वस्तु बन्नेछ । त्यसबाट भएर जाने हरेक डराउनेछ, र टाउको हल्लाउनेछ ।
17 Like an east wind will I scatter them before the enemy; with the back, and not the face, will I regard them on the day of their calamity.
तिनीहरूका शत्रुहरूकै सामु म तिनीहरूलाई पुर्वीय बतासझैं तितर-बितर पार्नेछु । तिनीहरूको विपत्तिको दिनमा म तिनीहरूलाई मेरो पिठिउँ फर्काउनेछु, मेरो मुहार होइन ।”
18 And they said, Come, and let us contrive devices against Jeremiah; for the law will not be lost from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not listen to any of his words.
त्यसैले मानिसहरूले भने, “आओ, हामी यर्मियाको विरुद्धमा षड्यन्त्रहरू रचौं, किनकि पुजारीहरूबाट व्यवस्था वा बुद्धिमान् मानिसहरूबाट सरसल्लाह वा अगमवक्ताहरूबाट वचन कहिल्यै नष्ट हुने छैनन् । आओ, हाम्रा वचनहरूले त्यसलाई आक्रमण गरौं, अनि अब फेरि त्यसले घोषणा गरेका कुराहरूमा हामी ध्यान नदिऊँ ।”
19 Listen to me, O Lord, and hearken to the voice of those that contend with me.
हे परमप्रभु, मेरो कुरा ध्यानसित सुन्नुहोस्, र मेरा शत्रुहरूका आवाज सुन्नुहोस् ।
20 Shall evil be recompensed instead of good, that they have dug a pit for my life? Remember my standing before thee to speak good concerning them, to cause thy wrath to turn away from them.
म तिनीहरूका लागि असल भएको हुनाले के साँच्चै तिनीहरूबाट आउने विपत्ति मेरो इनाम हुनेछ? किनकि तिनीहरूले मेरो लागि एउटा खाडल खनेका छन् । तिनीहरूबाट तपाईंको क्रोध हटाउन तिनीहरूको कल्याणको पक्षमा म कसरी तपाईंको सामु खडा भएको थिएँ भनी सम्झनुहोस् ।
21 Therefore give up their children to the famine, and let their life ebb out by means of the sword; and let their wives be bereaved of their children, and widows; and let their men be slain by death; their young men smitten by the sword in the battle.
त्यसकारण तिनीहरूका सन्तानलाई अनिकालमा पर्न दिनुहोस्, र तिनीहरूलाई तरवार खेलाउनेहरूका हातमा सुम्पिनुहोस् । यसरी तिनीहरूका स्त्रीहरू शोकमा परून् र विधना होऊन्, अनि तिनीहरूका पुरुषहरू मारिऊन्, र तिनीहरूका युवाहरू युद्धमा तरवारले मारिऊन् ।
22 Let a cry be heard from their houses, when thou bringest a troop over them suddenly; for they have dug a pit to catch me, and laid concealed snares for my feet.
तपाईंले तिनीहरूको विरुद्धमा एक्कासि आक्रमणकारीहरू ल्याउनुहुँदा तिनीहरूका घरहरूबाट रुवाबासीको सोर सुनियोस् । किनकि तिनीहरूले मलाई पक्रन एउटा खाडल खनेका छन्, र मेरो खुट्टाका लागि लुकाएर पासो थापेका छन् ।
23 Yet thou, Lord, knowest well all their counsel against me to [procure my] death: forgive not their iniquity, and let their sin not be blotted out from before thee; but let them be brought to stumbling before thee; in the time of thy anger deal thus with them.
तर हे परमप्रभु, मलाई मार्न तिनीहरूले मेरो विरुद्धमा बनाएका तिनीहरूका सबै योजना तपाईंलाई थाहा छ । तिनीहरूका अधर्म र पाप क्षमा नगर्नुहोस् । तिनीहरूका पाप तपाईंबाट नहटाउनुहोस् । बरु, तिनीहरू तपाईंकै सामु पराजित होऊन् । तपाईंको क्रोधको समयमा तिनीहरूको विरुद्धमा उत्रनुहोस् ।
