Jeremiah 15

1 And the Lord said unto me, If Moses and Samuel were to stand before me, my favor would [still] not be toward this people: send them away out of my sight, that they may go forth.

Und der HERR sprach zu mir: Und wenngleich Mose und Samuel vor mir stünden, so haben ich doch kein Herz zu diesem Volk. Treibe sie weg von mir und laß sie hinfahren!

2 And it shall come to pass, if they should say unto thee, Whither shall we go forth, that thou shalt say unto them, Thus hath said the Lord, Such as are destined to death, to death; and such as are destined to the sword, to the sword; and such as are destined to famine, to famine; and such as are destined to captivity, to captivity.

Und wenn sie zu dir sagen: Wo sollen wir hin? so sprich zu ihnen: So spricht der HERR: Wen der Tod trifft, den treffe er; wen das Schwert trifft, den treffe es; wen der Hunger trifft, den treffe er; wen das Gefängnis trifft, den treffe es.

3 And I will appoint over them four species, saith the Lord: The sword to slay, and the dogs to drag away, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the earth, to devour and to destroy.

Denn ich will sie heimsuchen mit viererlei Plagen, spricht der HERR: mit dem Schwert, daß sie erwürget werden; mit Hunden, die sie schleifen sollen; mit den Vögeln des Himmels und mit Tieren auf Erden, daß sie gefressen und verweset werden sollen.

4 And I will cause them to become a horror unto all the kingdoms of the earth, on account of Menasseh the son of Hezekiah the king of Judah, because of what he did in Jerusalem.

Und ich will sie in allen Königreichen auf Erden hin und her treiben lassen um Manasses willen, des Sohns Jehiskias, des Königs Judas, deshalben, das er zu Jerusalem begangen hat.

5 For who will have pity upon thee, O Jerusalem? or who will condole with thee? or who will go aside to ask after thy welfare?

Wer will denn sich dein erbarmen, Jerusalem? Wer wird denn Mitleid mit dir haben? Wer wird denn hingehen und dir Frieden erwerben?

6 Thou hast indeed forsaken me, saith the Lord, thou art gone backward; therefore do I stretch out my hand against thee, and destroy thee: I am weary with repenting.

Du hast mich verlassen, spricht der HERR, und bist mir abgefallen; darum habe ich meine Hand ausgestreckt wider dich, daß ich dich verderben will; ich bin des Erbarmens müde.

7 And I winnow them with a fan in the gates of the land: I make childless, I annihilate my people, [since] from their ways they have not turned away.

Ich will sie mit der Worfschaufel zum Lande hinaus worfeln und will mein Volk, so von seinem Wesen sich nicht bekehren will, zu eitel Waisen machen und umbringen.

8 Their widows are more numerous before me than the sand of the seas: I bring unto them, over the mothers of the young men, a waster at noonday; I cause to fall upon her suddenly the enemy with [his] terrors.

Es sollen mir mehr Witwen unter ihnen werden, denn des Sandes am Meer ist. Ich will über die Mutter der jungen Mannschaft kommen lassen einen offenbarlichen Verderber und die Stadt damit plötzlich und unversehens überfallen lassen,

9 She that had born seven children fadeth away; she breatheth out her soul, her sun is set while it is yet day; she is made ashamed and put to the blush: —and their residue will I give up to the sword before their enemies, saith the Lord.

daß die, so sieben, Kinder hat, soll elend sein und von Herzen seufzen. Denn ihre Sonne soll bei hohem Tage untergehen, daß beide, ihr Ruhm und Freude, ein Ende haben soll. Und die übrigen will ich ins Schwert geben vor ihren Feinden, spricht der HERR.

10 Woe is me, my mother, that thou hast born me, a man of contention and a man of strife to the whole land! I have not lent, nor have men lent to me: [yet] every one of them curseth me.

Ach, meine Mutter, daß du mich geboren hast, wider den jedermann hadert und zankt im ganzen Lande! Habe ich doch weder auf Wucher geliehen noch genommen, noch flucht mir jedermann.

11 The Lord said, Truly I will release thee for [thy] good; truly I will cause the enemy to meet thee in the time of distress and in the time of affliction.

Der HERR sprach: Wohlan, ich will euer etliche übrig behalten, denen es soll wieder wohlgehen, und will euch zu Hilfe kommen in der Not und Angst unter den Feinden.

12 Can iron break in pieces the northern iron and copper?

Meinest du nicht, daß etwa ein Eisen sei, welches könnte das Eisen und Erz von Mitternacht zerschlagen?

13 Thy wealth and thy treasures will I give up as spoil without price, and this for all thy sins, even in all thy borders.

Ich will aber zuvor euer Gut und Schätze in die Rapuse geben, daß ihr nichts dafür kriegen sollt, und das um aller eurer Sünden willen, die ihr in allen euren Grenzen begangen habt.

14 And I will cause them to pass over with thy enemies into a land which thou knowest not; for a fire is kindled in my anger, over you shall it burn.

Und will euch zu euren Feinden bringen in ein Land, das ihr nicht kennet; denn es ist das Feuer in meinem Zorn über euch angegangen.

15 Thou well knowest it, O Lord! remember me and think of me, and avenge me on my persecutors; not according to thy long-suffering act thou for me: know, that for thy sake I have borne shame.

Ach, HERR, du weißt es; gedenke an uns und nimm dich unser an und räche uns an unsern Verfolgern! Nimm uns auf und verzeuch nicht deinen Zorn über sie; denn du weißt, daß wir um deinetwillen geschmähet werden.

16 When thy words were made manifest to me, then I greedily received them; and thy word became unto me the gladness and joy of my heart; for thy name is called upon me, O Lord of hosts.

Indes enthalte uns dein Wort, wenn wir's kriegen; und dasselbe, dein Wort ist unsers Herzens Freude und Trost; denn wir sind ja nach deinem Namen genannt, HERR, Gott Zebaoth!

17 I sat not in the assembly of the mirthful, and was rejoiced; because of thy inspiration I sat solitary; for thou hadst filled me with indignation.

Wir gesellen uns nicht zu den Spöttern noch freuen uns mit ihnen, sondern bleiben alleine vor deiner Hand; denn du zürnest sehr mit uns.

18 Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable? it refuseth to be healed; it is truly become unto me as a deceptive spring, as waters that are not reliable.

Warum währet doch unser Schmerz so lange, und unsere Wunden sind so gar böse, daß sie niemand heilen kann? Du bist uns worden wie ein Born, der nicht mehr quellen will.

19 Therefore thus hath said the Lord, If thou return, and I bring thee back again, then shalt thou stand before me; and if thou bring forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth: these shall return unto thee; but thou shalt not return unto them.

Darum spricht der HERR also: Wo du dich zu mir hältst, so will ich mich zu dir halten, und sollst mein Prediger bleiben; und wo du die Frommen lehrest sich sondern von den bösen Leuten, so sollst du mein Lehrer sein; und ehe du solltest zu ihnen fallen, so müssen sie eher zu dir fallen.

20 And I will make thee unto this people as a fortified brazen wall; and they will fight against thee, but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee to save thee and to deliver thee, saith the Lord.

Denn ich habe dich wider dies Volk zur festen ehernen Mauer gemacht; ob sie wider dich streiten, sollen sie dir doch nichts anhaben; denn ich bin bei dir, daß ich dir helfe und dich errette, spricht der HERR.

21 And I will deliver thee out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem thee out of the grasp of the tyrants.

Und will dich auch erretten aus der Hand der Bösen und erlösen aus der Hand der Tyrannen.
