< Jeremiah 14 >
1 The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah concerning the drought.
Yei ne Awurade asɛm a ɔde maa Yeremia a ɛfa nsuweɛ ho:
2 Judah mourneth, and her gates languish; they lie grieved on the ground; and the distressed cry of Jerusalem ascendeth upward.
“Yuda di awerɛhoɔ ne nkuropɔn hunu amane. Wɔbɔ asase no ho abubuo, na wɔsu wɔ Yerusalem.
3 And their nobles have sent out their subordinates for water: they come to the pits, they find no water; they return with their vessels empty; they are ashamed and confounded, and cover their head.
Mmapɔmma soma wɔn asomfoɔ ma wɔkɔpɛ nsuo; wɔkɔhwɛ ankorɛ mu nanso wɔnnya nsuo. Wɔde wɔn nsuhina sane ba a hwee nni mu; wɔkatakata wɔn tiri so wɔ abotuo ne abasamutuo mu.
4 Because of the ground which is cracked open, since there hath been no rain in the land, are the ploughmen ashamed, they cover their head.
Asase no apaapae ɛfiri sɛ osuo ntɔ wɔ asase no so; akuafoɔ no bo atu na wɔkata wɔn tiri so.
5 Yea, the hind also bringeth forth her young in the field, and forsaketh [them], because there is no grass.
Mpo ɔforotebereɛ a ɔwɔ ɛserɛ so gya ne ba a wawo no foforɔ ɛfiri sɛ ɛserɛ biara nni hɔ.
6 And the wild asses stand on the mountain-tops, they snuff up the wind like serpents: their eyes fail, because there are no herbs.
Ɛsrɛ so mfunumu gyinagyina nkokoɔ wesee no so home sɛ sakraman; wɔkenakena wɔn ani hwehwɛ adidibea nanso wɔnhunu bi.”
7 If our iniquities testify against us, O Lord, do thou act for the sake of thy name; for our backslidings are many; against thee have we sinned.
Ɛwom sɛ yɛn amumuyɛ di adanseɛ tia yɛn deɛ, nanso Ao Awurade, wo din enti yɛ ho biribi. Yɛn akyirisane dɔɔso; na yɛayɛ bɔne atia wo.
8 O thou hope of Israel, his saviour in time of trouble, why shouldst thou be as a stranger in the land, and as a wayfarer that turneth aside to lodge for a night?
Ao, Israel Anidasoɔ, yɛn Agyenkwa wɔ amanehunu mmerɛ mu, adɛn enti na woayɛ sɛ ɔhɔhoɔ wɔ asase no so, te sɛ ɔkwantuni a ɔsoɛ anadwo pɛ?
9 Why shouldst thou be as a man that is surprised, as a mighty man that cannot save? yet thou art in the midst of us, O Lord, and we are called by thy name: abandon us not.
Adɛn enti na woayɛ sɛ obi a adeɛ afu ne mu yi, te sɛ ɔkofoɔ a ɔnni ahoɔden a ɔde boa? Wowɔ yɛn ntam, Ao Awurade na wo din da yɛn so; nnya yɛn mu!
10 Thus hath said the Lord unto this people, Thus have they loved to wander about, their feet have they not restrained: therefore the Lord doth not receive them in favor; now will he remember their iniquity, and will punish their sins.
Yei ne deɛ Awurade ka fa saa nnipa yi ho: “Wɔn ani gye akyinkyinakyinkyini ho bebree; wɔmma wɔn nan nhome. Ɛno enti Awurade nnye wɔn nto mu; afei ɔbɛkae wɔn amumuyɛsɛm no na watwe wɔn aso wɔ wɔn bɔne ho.”
11 Then said the Lord unto me, Pray not in behalf of this people for their good.
Na Awurade ka kyerɛɛ me sɛ, “Mmɔ yieyɛ ho mpaeɛ mma saa nnipa yi.
12 When they fast, I will not hear their entreaty: and when they offer burnt-offering and meat-offering, I will not receive them in favor; but by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence, will I make an end of them.
Mmom ɛwom sɛ wɔdi mmuada deɛ, nso merentie wɔn sufrɛ; ɛwom sɛ wɔbɔ ɔhyeɛ afɔdeɛ ne aduane afɔdeɛ deɛ, nso merennye. Mmom, mede akofena ɛkɔm ne ɔyaredɔm bɛsɛe wɔn.”
13 Then said I, Ah, Lord Eternal! behold, the prophets say unto them, Ye shall not see the sword, neither shall ye have famine; but a permanent peace will I give you in this place.
Nanso mekaa sɛ, “Ao, Otumfoɔ Awurade, adiyifoɔ no ka kyerɛ wɔn daa sɛ, ‘Monnhunu akofena na ɛkɔm remma. Nokorɛm mema mo asomdwoeɛ a ɛbɛtena hɔ daa wɔ ha.’”
14 Then said the Lord unto me, Falsehood do the prophets prophesy in my name; I have not sent them, neither have I commanded them, neither have I spoken unto them: a vision of falsehood, and divination, and idolatrous folly, and the deceit of their heart do they prophesy unto you.
Na Awurade ka kyerɛɛ me sɛ, “Adiyifoɔ no hyɛ nkɔmtorɔ wɔ me din mu. Mensomaa wɔn mennyii wɔn, na menkasa nkyerɛɛ wɔn. Wɔrehyɛ nkɔm afa atorɔ anisoadehunu, nsumansɛm, abosonsom ne wɔn ankasa nnaadaa adwene ho.
15 Therefore thus hath said the Lord concerning the prophets that prophesy in my name, when I have not sent them, while they say, Sword and famine shall not come in this land: By the sword and by the famine shall these prophets come to their end.
Ɛno enti, deɛ Awurade ka fa adiyifoɔ a wɔde me din hyɛ nkɔm no ho nie: mensomaa wɔn nanso wɔka sɛ, ‘Akofena biara anaa ɛkɔm biara remma asase yi so.’ Saa adiyifoɔ no ara bɛtotɔ akofena ano ne ɛkɔm mu.
16 And the people to whom they prophesy shall lie cast down in the streets of Jerusalem by means of the famine and the sword; and they shall have none to bury them, them, their wives, and their sons, and their daughters; for I will pour out their wickedness over them.
Na nnipa a wɔhyɛ nkɔm kyerɛ wɔn no, wɔbɛtoto wɔn agu Yerusalem mmɔntene so ɛsiane ɛkɔm ne akofena enti. Wɔrenya obiara nsie wɔn, wɔn yerenom, wɔn mmammarima anaa wɔn mmammaa. Mɛma amanehunu a ɛfata wɔn aba wɔn so.
17 But thou shalt say unto them this word. My eyes shall run down with tears night and day, and they shall not cease; for with a great breach is the virgin-daughter of my people broken, with a very painful blow.
“Ka saa asɛm yi kyerɛ wɔn: “‘ma nisuo nnware me anadwo ne awia a ɛtoɔ ntwa da ɛfiri sɛ me babaa bunu, me nkurɔfoɔ anya apirakuro a ɛyɛ hu na ɛyɛ ahodwirie mmorosoɔ.
18 If I go forth into the field, behold, there are the slain with the sword! and if I enter into the city, behold, there are those that are sick with famine! for both the prophet and the priest travel round into a land that they know not.
Sɛ mekɔ ɔman no mu a, mehunu nnipa a wɔatotɔ akofena ano; sɛ mekɔ kuropɔn no mu a mehunu ɛkɔm nsunsuansoɔ. Odiyifoɔ ne ɔsɔfoɔ nyinaa kɔ asase a wɔnnim so so.’”
19 Hast thou entirely rejected Judah? or hath thy soul loathing on Zion? why hast thou smitten us, so that there is no healing for us? we hoped for peace, and there is no good; and for the time of healing, and behold, there is terror!
Woapo Yuda kora anaa? Wokyi Sion anaa? Adɛn enti na wode ɔhaw aba yɛn so na yɛnnya ayaresa? Yɛn ani daa asomdwoeɛ so, nanso ade papa biara mmaeɛ, yɛn ani daa ayaresaberɛ so nanso ehubɔ na ɛbaeɛ.
20 We know, O Lord, our wickedness, the iniquity of our fathers; for we have sinned against thee.
Ao, Awurade, yɛagye yɛn amumuyɛ ato mu ne yɛn agyanom afɔdie; nokorɛm yɛayɛ bɔne atia wo.
21 Do not cast us off, for the sake of thy name, do not disgrace the throne of thy glory: remember, break not thy covenant with us.
Na wo din enti mmu yɛn animtia; nhura wʼanimuonyam ahennwa no ho. Kae wo ne yɛn apam no na mmu so.
22 Are there any among the vanities of the nations those that bestow rain? or can the heavens give forth showers? Behold, thou art this, O Lord our God, and we will hope in thee; for thou hast done all these things.
Na amanaman ahoni ahuhuo no mu bi ma osuo tɔ anaa? Anaasɛ ewiem bɛtumi ama obosuo apete? Dabi, ɛyɛ wo, Ao Awurade yɛn Onyankopɔn. Enti wo so na yɛn ani da, yɛretwɛn mmoa afiri wo hɔ.
