Jeremiah 10
1 Hear ye the word which the Lord hath spoken concerning you, O house of Israel:
੧ਹੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ, ਇਸ ਬਚਨ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣੋ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਹੈ,
2 Thus hath said the Lord, Do not habituate yourselves on the way of the nations, and at the signs of the heavens be ye not dismayed; although the nations should be dismayed at them.
੨ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, - ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਾਲ ਨਾ ਸਿੱਖੋ, ਨਾ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਦੇ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਘਬਰਾਓ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਘਬਰਾਉਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
3 For the statutes of these people concern what is vanity; for it is but a tree which a man hath cut out of a forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
੩ਉੱਮਤਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਿਧੀਆਂ ਤਾਂ ਫੋਕੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਕੋਈ ਜੰਗਲ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਰੁੱਖ ਵੱਢਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਕੁਹਾੜੇ ਨਾਲ ਤਰਖਾਣ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਹੈ।
4 With silver and with gold do they ornament it; with nails and with hammers do they fasten it, that it move not from its place.
੪ਚਾਂਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੋਨੇ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਸਜਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਹਥੌੜਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਿੱਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਭਈ ਉਹ ਹਿੱਲ ਨਾ ਸਕੇ।
5 As a wrought-out palm-like column are they, and cannot speak; they must needs be borne, because they cannot step along. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do any harm, so also to do any good is not in them.
੫ਉਹ ਕਕੜੀਆਂ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਬੋਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ ਉਹ ਚੁੱਕ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਜਾਣੇ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਤੁਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ! ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਨਾ ਡਰੋ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ, ਨਾ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਭਲਿਆਈ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ।
6 Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O Lord: thou [alone] art great, and great is thy name in might.
੬ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਤੇਰੇ ਜਿਹਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ, ਤੂੰ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ।
7 Who would not fear thee, O King of the nations? for to thee doth it appertain; because among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, [they say] there is none like unto thee.
੭ਹੇ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ, ਤੇਰੇ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਕੌਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਡਰੇਗਾ? ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਇਹ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਜੋਗ ਹੈ। ਕੌਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ, ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ, ਤੇਰੇ ਜਿਹਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ।
8 But at once shall they be shown to be brutish and foolish: it is a doctrine of vanities, it concerneth but wood.
੮ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਬੇਦਰਦ ਅਤੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਫੋਕੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਲਈ ਲੱਕੜੀ ਹੀ ਹੈ।
9 The beaten out silver is brought from Tharshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands of the goldsmith: blue and purple is their clothing; the work of skilful men are they all.
੯ਤਰਸ਼ੀਸ਼ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੀ ਕੁੱਟੀ ਹੋਈ ਚਾਂਦੀ, ਅਤੇ ਊਫਾਜ਼ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਸੋਨਾ ਲਿਆਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਿਸਤਰੀ ਦਾ, ਸਰਾਫ਼ ਦੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੁਸ਼ਾਕ ਨੀਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਬੈਂਗਣੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਹੈ!
10 But the Lord God is the truth, he is the living God, and the everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall quake, and nations cannot endure his indignation.
੧੦ਪਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਸੱਚਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਜੀਉਂਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਅਤੇ ਸਦੀਪਕਾਲ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਦੇ ਲਾਲ ਪੀਲਾ ਹੋਣ ਨਾਲ ਧਰਤੀ ਕੰਬਦੀ ਹੈ, ਕੌਮਾਂ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਗਜ਼ਬ ਨਹੀਂ ਝੱਲ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ।
11 Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, shall perish away from the earth, and from under these heavens.
੧੧ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੱਸੋ, ਉਹ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਜਿਹਨਾਂ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਾਇਆ, ਉਹ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਦੇ ਹੇਠੋਂ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
12 He made the earth by his power, he established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding he stretched out the heavens.
੧੨ਉਸ ਨੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਬਣਾਇਆ, ਉਸ ਆਪਣੀ ਬੁੱਧ ਨਾਲ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਇਮ ਕੀਤਾ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਮਝ ਨਾਲ ਅਕਾਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਣਿਆ ਹੈ।
13 At the sound when he giveth a multitude of waters in the heavens, and causeth clouds to ascend from the ends of the earth; when he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures:
੧੩ਜਦ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਕੱਢਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਣੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ੋਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਕੰਢਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਭਾਫ਼ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੱਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਵਰਖਾ ਲਈ ਬਿਜਲੀਆਂ ਚਮਕਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣਿਆਂ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਹਵਾ ਵਗਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
14 Then standeth every man as brutish without knowledge; ashamed is every goldsmith because of the graven image; for falsehood is his molten work, and there is no breath therein.
੧੪ਹਰੇਕ ਆਦਮੀ ਬੇਦਰਦ ਅਤੇ ਗਿਆਨਹੀਣ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰਾਫ਼ ਆਪਣੀ ਮੂਰਤ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਸ਼ਰਮਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਢਾਲੀ ਹੋਈ ਮੂਰਤ ਝੂਠੀ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ।
15 They are vanity, the work of deception; in the time of their punishment shall they vanish.
੧੫ਉਹ ਫੋਕੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਧੋਖੇ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਦੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
16 Not like these is the portion of Jacob; for he is the former of all things; and Israel is the tribe of his inheritance: The Lord of hosts is his name.
੧੬ਜਿਹੜਾ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਦਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਜਿਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਹੈ, ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਗੋਤ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਮਿਰਾਸ ਹੈ, ਸੈਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੈ।
17 Gather up thy wares from the ground, O inhabitress of the beleaguered city.
੧੭ਧਰਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਗਠੜੀ ਇਕੱਠੀ ਕਰ ਲੈ, ਤੂੰ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਘੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈਂ।
18 For thus hath said the Lord, Behold, I will cast forth as with a sling the inhabitants of the land at this time, and I will enclose them, in order that they may find them.
੧੮ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਵੇਖੋ, ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਦੇਸ ਦੇ ਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੋਪੀਏ ਨਾਲ ਸੁੱਟਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੁੱਖ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ, ਭਈ ਉਹ ਸਮਝਣ।
19 Woe is me for my breach! my wound is painful; but I thought, This is but pain, and I shall be able to bear it.
੧੯ਮੇਰੇ ਘਾਓ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਅਫ਼ਸੋਸ! ਮੇਰਾ ਫੱਟ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਝੱਲਾਂਗਾ।
20 [But now] my tent is laid waste, and all my cords are torn asunder; my children are gone away from me, and they are not [here]; there is no one to stretch forth my tent any more, and to set up my curtains.
੨੦ਮੇਰਾ ਤੰਬੂ ਲੁੱਟਿਆ ਗਿਆ, ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਸਭ ਲਾਸਾਂ ਤੋੜ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ, ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਤੁਰ ਗਏ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ, ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਤੰਬੂ ਫੇਰ ਤਾਣੇ, ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਕਨਾਤਾਂ ਲਾਵੇ।
21 For the shepherds were brutish, and the Lord had they not sought; therefore have they not prospered, and all their flocks are scattered.
੨੧ਆਜੜੀ ਤਾਂ ਬੇਦਰਦ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਭਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਸਫ਼ਲ ਨਾ ਹੋਏ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਇੱਜੜ ਖੇਰੂੰ-ਖੇਰੂੰ ਹੋ ਗਏ।
22 Behold, the noise of the report is come, and a great commotion out of the north country, to render the cities of Judah desolate, a dwelling for monsters.
੨੨ਇੱਕ ਸੁਨੇਹੇ ਦੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਸੁਣਾਈ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਵੇਖੋ, ਉੱਤਰ ਦੇਸ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡਾ ਰੌਲ਼ਾ, ਭਈ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿਰਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਣ, ਉਹ ਗਿੱਦੜਾਂ ਦੇ ਘੁਰਨੇ ਬਣਨ।
23 I know, O Lord, that the way of man is not in his own power: it is not in man that passeth away to direct his own steps.
੨੩ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਮੈਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਕਿ ਆਦਮੀ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿ ਤੁਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਦਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਇਮ ਕਰੇ।
24 Correct me, O Lord, but with justice; not in thy anger, lest thou bring me to nothing.
੨੪ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਧਾਰ ਕਰ ਪਰ ਨਰਮਾਈ ਨਾਲ, ਨਾ ਕਿ ਆਪਣੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨਾਲ ਮਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਘਟਾਵੇਂ।
25 Pour out thy fury over the nations that know thee not, and over the families that have not called on thy name; for they have eaten up Jacob, and devoured him, and consumed him, and have made his dwelling desolate.
੨੫ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਗੁੱਸਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਾ ਦੇ ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੀਆਂ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਘਰਾਣਿਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੈਂਦੇ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੂੰ ਖਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਭੱਖ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਕਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਵਸੇਬਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਰਾਨ ਕਰ ਛੱਡਿਆ ਹੈ।
