Isaiah 8
1 And the Lord said unto me, Take thyself a large table, and write on it with distinct letters, Lemaher-shalal-chash-bas.
Mai mult, DOMNUL mi-a spus: Ia-ţi un pergament mare şi scrie pe el cu condeiul unui om, referitor la Maher–Şalal-Haş-Baz.
2 And I was to summon for myself trustworthy witnesses, Uriyah the priest, and Zecharyahu the son of Yeberechyahu.
Şi mi-am luat martori credincioşi ca mărturie, pe preotul Urie şi Zaharia, fiul lui Ieberechia.
3 And I came near unto the prophetess; and she conceived, and bore a son. Then said the Lord to me, Call his name Maher-shalal-chash-bas.
Şi am mers la profetesă; şi ea a rămas însărcinată şi a născut un fiu. Atunci DOMNUL mi-a spus: Pune-i numele Maher–Şalal-Haş-Baz.
4 For before yet the boy shall know to call, My father, and my mother, the wealth of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be carried away before the king of Assyria.
Căci înainte ca pruncul să aibă ştiinţa de a striga: Tatăl meu! şi: Mama mea! bogăţiile Damascului şi prada Samariei vor fi luate dinaintea împăratului Asiriei.
5 And the Lord continued to speak unto me again, saying,
DOMNUL mi-a vorbit din nou, spunând:
6 Forasmuch as this people despiseth the waters of Shiloach that flow softly, and rejoice in Rezin and Remalyahu's son:
Întrucât acest popor refuză apele din Şiloa, care curg încet, şi se bucură în Rezin şi în fiul lui Remalia,
7 Yea therefore behold, the Lord bringeth up over them the strong and many waters of the river, —the king of Assyria, and all his glory; and he shall come up over all his channels, and step over all his banks;
Iată, că acum Domnul aduce peste ei apele puternice şi multe ale râului, pe împăratul Asiriei şi toată gloria lui; şi el va veni peste toate canalele lui şi va trece peste toate malurile lui;
8 And he shall penetrate into Judah, overflow and flood over, even to the neck shall he reach; and his outstretched wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O 'Immanu-el.
Şi va trece prin Iuda; va inunda şi se va revărsa, va ajunge până la gât; şi întinderea aripilor lui va umple lăţimea ţării tale, Emanuele.
9 Associate yourselves, O ye people, yet shall ye be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of the far portions of the earth: gird yourselves, yet shall ye be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, yet shall ye be broken in pieces.
Împrieteniţi-vă popoarelor şi veţi fi sparte în bucăţi; şi deschideţi urechea, toţi cei din ţările îndepărtate; încingeţi-vă şi veţi fi sparţi în bucăţi; încingeţi-vă şi veţi fi sparţi în bucăţi.
10 Take counsel together, yet shall it come to naught; speak the word, and it shall not stand firm; for with us is God.
Ţineţi sfat împreună şi va fi nimicit; vorbiţi cuvântul şi nu va rezista, căci Dumnezeu este cu noi.
11 For thus said the Lord to me with the strength of prophecy, and warned me not to walk in the way of this people, saying,
Fiindcă DOMNUL mi-a vorbit astfel cu o mână tare şi m-a instruit să nu merg pe calea acestui popor, zicând:
12 Call ye not a conspiracy all that this people may call a conspiracy, and what it feareth shall ye not fear, and be not terrified [thereat].
Nu spuneţi: O uneltire, tuturor [cărora] acest popor va spune: O uneltire; nici să nu vă temeţi de teama lui, nici nu vă înfricoşaţi.
13 The Lord of hosts, him shall ye sanctify; and let him be your fear, and let him be your terror.
Sfinţiţi pe însuşi DOMNUL oştirilor; şi el [să fie] teama voastră şi el [să fie] groaza voastră.
14 And he will be for a sanctuary; but also for a stone of stumbling and for a rock to fall over unto both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
Şi va fi pentru sanctuar, dar şi piatră de cădere şi stâncă de poticnire ambelor case ale lui Israel, un laţ şi o cursă locuitorilor Ierusalimului.
15 And many shall stumble over them, and fall, and be broken, and snared, and be caught.
Şi mulţi dintre ei se vor poticni şi vor cădea şi vor fi frânţi şi vor fi prinşi în capcană şi vor fi luaţi.
16 Bind up the testimony, seal up the law among my disciples.
Leagă mărturia, sigilează legea printre discipolii mei.
17 And I will wait for the Lord, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will hope for him.
Şi voi aştepta pe DOMNUL, care îşi ascunde faţa de casa lui Iacob, şi îl voi căuta.
18 Behold, I and the children whom the Lord hath given me are for signs and for tokens in Israel, from the Lord of hosts who dwelleth on mount Zion.
Iată, eu şi copiii pe care DOMNUL mi i-a dat, suntem pentru a fi însemne şi minuni în Israel, de la DOMNUL oştirilor care locuieşte în muntele Sion.
19 And when they shall say unto you, “Inquire of those that have familiar spirits, and of the wizards, that whisper, and that mutter:” should not a people inquire of their God? [should we then] in behalf of the living [inquire] of the dead?
Şi când vă vor spune: Căutaţi la cei care au demoni şi la vrăjitorii care şoptesc şi care bolborosesc; nu ar trebui un popor să caute pe Dumnezeul lui? [Să meargă] la cei morţi pentru cei vii?
20 [Hold] to the law and to the testimony: if they are not to speak according to this word, in which there is no light.
La lege şi la mărturie; dacă ei nu vorbesc conform acestui cuvânt, este pentru că nu au lumină în ei.
21 And the [people] shall pass through [the land], hard oppressed and hungry: and it shall come to pass, that when they shall be hungry, they will become enraged, and curse their king and their god, and turn toward on high [for aid].
Şi vor trece prin aceasta greu apăsaţi şi flămânzi; şi se va întâmpla, când vor flămânzi, că se vor îngrijora şi vor blestema pe împăratul lor şi pe Dumnezeul lor privind în sus.
22 And they will look unto the earth; and behold there are trouble and darkness, dimness of oppression, and they shall be scattered into obscurity.
Şi vor privi spre pământ; şi, iată, tulburare şi întuneric, întunecime a chinului! Şi vor fi alungaţi în întuneric.
