Isaiah 8
1 And the Lord said unto me, Take thyself a large table, and write on it with distinct letters, Lemaher-shalal-chash-bas.
याहवेह ने मुझसे कहा, “एक बड़ी पटिया में बड़े-बड़े अक्षरों में यह लिखो: महेर-शालाल-हाश-बाज़ अर्थात् त्वरित लूट, द्रुत डाका.”
2 And I was to summon for myself trustworthy witnesses, Uriyah the priest, and Zecharyahu the son of Yeberechyahu.
मैं पुरोहित उरियाह और यबेरेकयाह के पुत्र ज़करयाह को अपने साथ दो विश्वासयोग्य गवाह के रूप में रखूंगा.
3 And I came near unto the prophetess; and she conceived, and bore a son. Then said the Lord to me, Call his name Maher-shalal-chash-bas.
तब मैं नबिया के पास गया और उसने गर्भवती होकर एक पुत्र को जन्म दिया. तब याहवेह ने मुझसे कहा, “उसका नाम महेर-शालाल-हाश-बाज़ रखो.
4 For before yet the boy shall know to call, My father, and my mother, the wealth of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be carried away before the king of Assyria.
और इससे पहले कि वह पिता और माता बुलाए, दमेशेक की संपत्ति और शमरिया की लूट अश्शूर के राजा के द्वारा ले जाई जाएगी.”
5 And the Lord continued to speak unto me again, saying,
फिर याहवेह ने मुझसे कहा:
6 Forasmuch as this people despiseth the waters of Shiloach that flow softly, and rejoice in Rezin and Remalyahu's son:
“इसलिये कि इस प्रजा ने शिलोह के धीरे धीरे बहने वाले सोते को छोड़ दिया और रेमालियाह के पुत्र और वे रेज़िन से मिलकर खुश हैं,
7 Yea therefore behold, the Lord bringeth up over them the strong and many waters of the river, —the king of Assyria, and all his glory; and he shall come up over all his channels, and step over all his banks;
इसलिये अब प्रभु उन पर अर्थात् अश्शूर के राजा और उसके समस्त वैभव पर फरात का कष्ट लाने पर हैं. उसका जल उसकी समस्त नहरों, और तटों पर से उमड़ पड़ेगा.
8 And he shall penetrate into Judah, overflow and flood over, even to the neck shall he reach; and his outstretched wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O 'Immanu-el.
तब पानी यहूदिया पर भी चढ़ जाएगा और बढ़ता जाएगा. और इम्मानुएल का पूरा देश उसके पंखों से ढंक जाएगा!”
9 Associate yourselves, O ye people, yet shall ye be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of the far portions of the earth: gird yourselves, yet shall ye be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, yet shall ye be broken in pieces.
हे दूर-दूर देश के सब लोगों, चिल्लाओ अपनी-अपनी कमर कसो. परंतु तुम्हारे टुकड़े-टुकड़े किए जाएंगे और तुम नाश किए जाओगे!
10 Take counsel together, yet shall it come to naught; speak the word, and it shall not stand firm; for with us is God.
तुम चाहे कुछ भी करो, कोई फायदा नहीं; और तुम्हारी सब बात झूठी होगी, क्योंकि परमेश्वर तो हमारे साथ हैं.
11 For thus said the Lord to me with the strength of prophecy, and warned me not to walk in the way of this people, saying,
और याहवेह का मजबूत हाथ मेरे ऊपर था, और उन लोगों के समान न बनने के लिए याहवेह ने कहा:
12 Call ye not a conspiracy all that this people may call a conspiracy, and what it feareth shall ye not fear, and be not terrified [thereat].
“जिससे ये सब लोग नफरत करे तुम उससे नफरत न करना; और जिससे वे डरे हैं, तुम उससे डरो मत.
13 The Lord of hosts, him shall ye sanctify; and let him be your fear, and let him be your terror.
सर्वशक्तिमान याहवेह ही पवित्र परमेश्वर हैं, उन्ही का भय मानना, और उन्ही से डरना.
14 And he will be for a sanctuary; but also for a stone of stumbling and for a rock to fall over unto both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
तब वे तुम्हारे शरणस्थान होंगे; लेकिन इस्राएल के दोनों परिवारों के लिए वे ठोकर का पत्थर और लड़खड़ाने की चट्टान. तथा येरूशलेम वासियों के लिए वे एक जाल और एक फंदा होंगे.
15 And many shall stumble over them, and fall, and be broken, and snared, and be caught.
कई लोग उनसे ठोकर खाकर गिरेंगे; और टूट जाएंगे, वे फंदे में फंसेंगे और पकड़े जाएंगे.”
16 Bind up the testimony, seal up the law among my disciples.
इस चेतावनी को बंद कर दो और मेरे चेलों के सामने इस व्यवस्था पर छाप लगा दो.
17 And I will wait for the Lord, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will hope for him.
मैं याहवेह की प्रतीक्षा करता रहूंगा, जो याकोब वंश से अपना मुख छिपाए हुए हैं. मैं उन्हीं पर आशा लगाए रहूंगा.
18 Behold, I and the children whom the Lord hath given me are for signs and for tokens in Israel, from the Lord of hosts who dwelleth on mount Zion.
देख: मैं यहां हूं, और याहवेह ने जो संतान मुझे दिये हैं! ज़ियोन पर्वत पर रहनेवाला जो सर्वशक्तिमान याहवेह हैं, उनकी ओर से हम चिन्ह और चमत्कार होंगे.
19 And when they shall say unto you, “Inquire of those that have familiar spirits, and of the wizards, that whisper, and that mutter:” should not a people inquire of their God? [should we then] in behalf of the living [inquire] of the dead?
जब वे तुमसे कहें कि, बुदबुदानेवाले और गुनगुनानेवाले तंत्र मंत्र करनेवालों से पूछो, तो क्या वे जीवित परमेश्वर से नहीं पूछ सकते, क्या जीवित लोग मरे हुओं से पूछेंगे?
20 [Hold] to the law and to the testimony: if they are not to speak according to this word, in which there is no light.
परमेश्वर की शिक्षा और उनकी चेतावनी से पूछताछ करें. यदि वे लोग सच्चाई की बातों को नहीं मानते तो उनके लिए सुबह का नया दिन नहीं.
21 And the [people] shall pass through [the land], hard oppressed and hungry: and it shall come to pass, that when they shall be hungry, they will become enraged, and curse their king and their god, and turn toward on high [for aid].
वे इस देश से बहुत दुःखी और भूखे होकर निकलेंगे और जब वे भूखे होंगे वे क्रोधित हो जाएंगे, वे क्रोध में अपना मुंह आकाश की ओर उठाकर अपने राजा और अपने परमेश्वर को शाप देंगे.
22 And they will look unto the earth; and behold there are trouble and darkness, dimness of oppression, and they shall be scattered into obscurity.
तब वे पृथ्वी की ओर देखेंगे और उन्हें धुंधलापन संकट, और अंधकार दिखाई देगा और वे घोर अंधकार में फेंक दिए जाएंगे.
