Isaiah 45
1 Thus hath said the Lord to his anointed, to Cyrus, whom I have taken hold of by his right hand, to subdue nations before him, even the loins of kings will I ungird, to open before him [city-]doors, and gates that they shall not be shut;
Yahvé dit à son oint, à Cyrus, dont j'ai tenu la droite pour soumettre les nations devant lui et dépouiller les rois de leurs armures, d'ouvrir les portes devant lui, et les portes ne seront pas fermées:
2 I myself will go before thee, and proud eminences will I level: doors of brass will I break in pieces, and bolts of iron will I cut asunder.
« J'irai devant vous et rendre les endroits rugueux lisses. Je briserai les portes d'airain en morceaux et écarte les barres de fer.
3 And I will give unto thee the treasures of darkness, and riches hidden in secret places; in order that thou mayest know that I am the Lord, who call thee by thy name, the God of Israel;
Je vous donnerai les trésors des ténèbres et les richesses cachées des lieux secrets, pour que tu saches que c'est moi, Yahvé, qui t'appelle par ton nom, même le Dieu d'Israël.
4 For the sake of my servant Jacob, and Israel my elect; and I have called thee by thy name: I have designated thee, though thou hast not known me.
Pour l'amour de Jacob, mon serviteur, et Israël mon élu, Je t'ai appelé par ton nom. Je vous ai donné un titre, bien que vous ne m'ayez pas connu.
5 I am the Lord, and there is none else, beside me there is no god; I assisted thee, though thou hast not known me.
Je suis Yahvé, et il n'y a personne d'autre. En dehors de moi, il n'y a pas de Dieu. Je vais te renforcer, bien que vous ne m'ayez pas connu,
6 In order that they may know from the rising of the sun, and from its setting, that there is nothing without me. I am the Lord, and there is no one else;
afin qu'ils sachent dès le lever du soleil, et de l'ouest, qu'il n'y a personne d'autre que moi. Je suis Yahvé, et il n'y a personne d'autre.
7 Forming the light, and creating darkness; making peace, and creating evil: I the Lord do all these things.
Je forme la lumière et créer l'obscurité. Je fais la paix et créer des calamités. Je suis Yahvé, qui fait toutes ces choses.
8 Drop down ye heavens, and let the skies distil blessing; let the earth open and let them [all] be fruitful of prosperity, and let righteousness spring up likewise: I the Lord have created it.
Pluie, cieux, d'en haut, et que les cieux déversent la justice. Que la terre s'ouvre, pour qu'elle produise le salut, et qu'elle fasse jaillir la justice avec elle. Moi, Yahvé, je l'ai créé.
9 Woe unto him that contendeth with the one who formed him—a potsherd among the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?
Malheur à celui qui se bat avec son créateur- un pot d'argile parmi les pots d'argile de la terre! L'argile demandera-t-elle à celui qui la façonne: « Que fais-tu? ou votre travail, « Il n'a pas de mains »?
10 Woe unto him that saith unto [his] father, What begettest thou? or to the woman, What bringest thou forth?
Malheur à celui qui dit à un père: « De quoi es-tu devenu le père? ou à une mère: « De quoi avez-vous accouché? ».
11 Thus hath said the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, and he who hath formed him, About events to come will you ask me? concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands will ye command me?
Yahvé, le Saint d'Israël et son créateur dit: « Vous m'interrogez sur les choses à venir, concernant mes fils, et tu me donnes des ordres concernant le travail de mes mains!
12 [When] I myself have made the earth, and created man upon it; [when] I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and I have ordained all their host.
J'ai fait la terre, et j'ai créé l'homme sur elle. Moi, même mes mains, j'ai étendu les cieux. J'ai commandé toute leur armée.
13 I myself have waked him up in righteousness, and all his ways will I make straight: he shall build my city, and my exiles shall he dismiss free, not for purchase-money nor for presents, saith the Lord of hosts.
Je l'ai élevé dans la justice, et je rendrai toutes ses voies droites. Il bâtira ma ville, et il laissera partir mes exilés en liberté, sans prix ni récompense, dit Yahvé des Armées.
14 Thus hath said the Lord, The labor of Egypt, and the merchandise of Ethiopia, and of the Sabeans, men of high stature, shall pass over unto thee, and thine shall they be: behind thee shall they walk; in chains shall they pass along, and unto thee shall they bow, unto thee shall they pray, [saying] Yea, only among thee is God; and there is no one else beside God.
Yahvé dit: « Le travail de l'Égypte, et les marchandises de l'Éthiopie, et les Sabéens, des hommes de taille, viendront vers vous, et ils seront à vous. Ils s'en prendront à vous. Ils viendront enchaînés. Ils se prosterneront devant vous. Ils te feront des supplications: Dieu est en vous, et il n'y a personne d'autre. Il n'y a pas d'autre dieu.
15 Verily thou art a God that hidest thyself, O God of Israel, the Saviour.
Tu es certainement un Dieu qui s'est caché, Dieu d'Israël, le Sauveur. »
16 They are ashamed, and also confounded, all of them: together shall they go to confusion that are makers of idols.
Ils seront déçus, oui, confondus, tous. Ceux qui fabriquent des idoles entreront ensemble dans la confusion.
17 [But] Israel shall be helped by the Lord with an everlasting salvation: ye shall not be ashamed and not be confounded unto all eternity.
Israël sera sauvé par Yahvé d'un salut éternel. Vous ne serez pas déçu ni confondu dans les siècles des siècles.
18 For thus hath said the Lord the creator of the heavens; he, the God that formed the earth and made it; he that hath established it, —not for naught did he create it, to be inhabited did he form it: I am the Lord; and there is no one else.
Car Yahvé, qui a créé les cieux, le Dieu qui a formé la terre et l'a faite, qui l'a établi et qui ne l'a pas créé un gaspillage, qui l'a formé pour être habité dit: « Je suis Yahvé. Il n'y en a pas d'autre.
19 Not on a secret spot have I spoken, in a dark place of the earth; I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me for naught; [but] I the Lord speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.
Je n'ai pas parlé en secret, dans un endroit de la terre des ténèbres. Je n'ai pas dit à la progéniture de Jacob: « C'est en vain que vous me cherchez. Moi, Yahvé, je dis la justice. Je déclare les choses qui sont justes.
20 Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye escaped fugitives of the nations! They have no knowledge that carry the wood of their graven image, and pray unto a god that cannot save.
« Rassemblez-vous et venez. Approchez-vous, vous qui avez fui les nations. Ceux qui n'ont aucune connaissance qui portent le bois de leur image gravée, et prier un dieu qui ne peut pas sauver.
21 Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: Who hath announced this in ancient times? told it from the beginning? is it not I the Lord? and there is no other god without me, a just god and a saviour; there is none beside me.
Déclarez et présentez-la. Oui, qu'ils prennent conseil ensemble. Qui l'a montré depuis les temps anciens? Qui l'a déclaré autrefois? N'est-ce pas, Yahvé? Il n'y a pas d'autre Dieu que moi, un Dieu juste et un Sauveur. Il n'y a personne d'autre que moi.
22 Turn unto me, so that ye may be helped, all ye ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no one else.
« Regardez vers moi, et soyez sauvés, toutes les extrémités de la terre; car je suis Dieu, et il n'y en a pas d'autre.
23 By myself have I sworn, righteousness is gone out of my mouth, a word [which] shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bend, every tongue shall swear.
J'ai juré par moi-même. La parole est sortie de ma bouche en toute justice, et elle ne sera pas révoquée, que tout genou s'incline devant moi, chaque langue doit prêter serment.
24 Only in the Lord, —shall men say of me, —there are righteousness and strength. Unto him shall come and be ashamed all that are incensed against him.
Ils diront de moi, Il n'y a de justice et de force qu'en Yahvé. » Même à lui, les hommes viendront. Tous ceux qui se sont déchaînés contre lui seront déçus.
25 In the Lord shall be justified, and shall glory themselves all the seed of Israel.
Toute la descendance d'Israël sera justifiée en Yahvé, et se réjouiront!
