Isaiah 40
1 Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.
Tröstet, tröstet mein Volk! spricht euer Gott.
2 Speak ye [comfort] to the heart of Jerusalem, and call out unto her, that her time of sorrow is accomplished, that her iniquity is atoned for; for she hath received from the hand of the Lord double for all her sins.
Redet mit Jerusalem freundlich und prediget ihr, daß ihre Ritterschaft ein Ende hat, denn ihre Missetat ist vergeben; denn sie hat Zwiefältiges empfangen von der Hand des HERRN um alle ihre Sünde.
3 A voice calleth out, In the wilderness make ye clear the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for God.
Es ist eine Stimme eines Predigers in der Wüste: Bereitet dem HERRN den Weg; machet auf dem Gefilde eine ebene Bahn unserm Gott!
4 Every valley shall be raised, and every mountain and hill shall be made low; and the crooked shall be made a straight path, and the rough places a plain:
Alle Täler sollen erhöhet werden, und alle Berge und Hügel sollen geniedriget werden, und was ungleich ist, soll eben, und was höckericht ist, soll schlicht werden.
5 And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed; and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.
Denn die HERRLIchkeit des HERRN soll offenbaret werden; und alles Fleisch miteinander wird sehen, daß des HERRN Mund redet.
6 A voice saith, Proclaim; and he saith, What shall I proclaim? all flesh is grass, and all its goodliness is as the flower of the field:
Es spricht eine Stimme: Predige! Und er sprach: Was soll ich predigen? Alles Fleisch ist Heu, und alle seine Güte ist wie eine Blume auf dem Felde.
7 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth; because the breath of the Lord hath blown upon it; surely the people is grass.
Das Heu verdorret, die Blume verwelket; denn des HERRN Geist bläset drein. Ja, das Volk ist das Heu.
8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth; but the word of our God will stand firm for ever.
Das Heu verdorret, die Blume verwelket; aber das Wort unsers Gottes bleibet ewiglich.
9 Upon a high mountain get thee up, thou that bringest good tidings to Zion; lift up with strength thy voice, thou who bringest good tidings to Jerusalem; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold, [here is] your God!
Zion, du Predigerin, steig auf einen hohen Berg! Jerusalem, du Predigerin, hebe deine Stimme auf mit Macht, heb auf und fürchte dich nicht; sage den Städten Judas: Siehe, da ist euer Gott!
10 Behold, the Lord Eternal will come with might, and his arm ruleth for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his recompense before him.
Denn siehe, der HERR HERR kommt gewaltiglich; und sein Arm wird herrschen. Siehe, sein Lohn ist bei ihm, und seine Vergeltung ist vor ihm.
11 Like a shepherd will he feed his flock: with his arm will he gather the lambs, and in his bosom will he carry them, will he lead gently those that suckle their young.
Er wird seine Herde weiden wie ein Hirte; er wird die Lämmer in seine Arme sammeln und in seinem Busen tragen und die Schafmütter führen.
12 Who hath measured in the hollow of his hand the waters, and meted out the heavens with the span, and comprised in a measure the dust of the earth, and weighed in the scale-beam the mountains, and the hills in balances?
Wer misset die Wasser mit der Faust und fasset den Himmel mit der Spanne und begreift die Erde mit einem Dreiling und wieget die Berge mit einem Gewicht und die Hügel mit einer Waage?
13 Who hath meted out the Spirit of the Lord? and [who was] his counsellor that he could have given him information?
Wer unterrichtet den Geist des HERRN, und welcher Ratgeber unterweiset ihn?
14 With whom took he counsel, that he gave him understanding, and taught him the path of justice, and taught him knowledge, and caused him to know the way of understanding?
Wen fragt er um Rat, der ihm Verstand gebe und lehre ihn den Weg des Rechts und lehre ihn die Erkenntnis und unterweise ihn den Weg des Verstandes?
15 Behold, nations are as a drop out of a bucket, and as the small dust of the balance are they accounted: behold, isles are like the flying dust.
Siehe, die Heiden sind geachtet wie ein Tropfen, so im Eimer bleibt, und wie ein Scherflein, so in der Wage bleibet. Siehe, die Inseln sind wie ein Stäublein.
16 And Lebanon is not sufficient for burning, and its beasts do not suffice for burnt-offering.
Der Libanon wäre zu geringe zum Feuer und seine Tiere zu geringe zum Brandopfer.
17 All the nations are as naught before him; less than nothing, and vanity are they accounted to him.
Alle Heiden sind vor ihm nichts und wie ein Nichtiges und Eitles geachtet.
18 To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?
Wem wollt ihr denn Gott nachbilden, oder was für ein Gleichnis wollt ihr ihm zurichten?
19 The graven image the artificer hath cast and the goldsmith hath overspread it with gold, and fabricated [on it] silver chains.
Der Meister gießt wohl ein Bild, und der Goldschmied übergüldet es und macht silberne Ketten dran.
20 He that is skilled in the choice chooseth a wood that will not rot; he seeketh unto himself a skilful workman to prepare a graven image, that shall not be moved.
Desgleichen wer eine arme Hebe vermag, der wählet ein Holz, das nicht fault, und sucht einen klugen Meister dazu, der ein Bild fertige, das beständig sei.
21 Know ye not? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not paid attention to the foundations of the earth?
Wisset ihr nicht? Höret ihr nicht? Ist's euch nicht vormals verkündiget? Habt ihr's nicht verstanden von Anbeginn der Erde?
22 [It is he] that dwelleth above the circle of the earth, while its inhabitants are as grasshoppers; that stretched out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in;
Er sitzt über dem Kreis der Erde; und die darauf wohnen, sind wie Heuschrecken. Der den Himmel ausdehnet wie ein dünn Fell und breitet sie aus wie eine Hütte, da man innen wohnet;
23 That bringeth princes to naught; rendering the judges of the earth as vanity.
der die Fürsten zunichte macht und die Richter auf Erden eitel macht,
24 Yes, they were not yet planted; yea, they were not yet sown; yea, their stem had not yet taken root in the earth: when he but breathed upon them, and they withered, and the storm-wind carrieth them away as stubble.
als hätte ihr Stamm weder Pflanzen noch Samen noch Wurzel in der Erde, daß sie, wo ein Wind unter sie wehet, verdorren, und sie ein Windwirbel wie Stoppeln wegführet.
25 To whom then will ye liken me, that I should be equal to? saith the Holy One.
Wem wollt ihr denn mich nachbilden, dem ich gleich sei? spricht der Heilige.
26 Lift up your eyes on high, and see who hath created these? he that bringeth out their host by number; that calleth them all by name; from the Mighty One not one escapeth.
Hebet eure Augen in die Höhe und sehet! Wer hat solche Dinge geschaffen und führet ihr Heer bei der Zahl heraus? Der sie alle mit Namen rufet; sein Vermögen und starke Kraft ist so groß, daß nicht an einem fehlen kann.
27 Why wilt thou say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel, My way is hidden from the Lord, and my cause hath passed from the cognizance of my God?
Warum sprichst du denn, Jakob, und du, Israel, sagest: Mein Weg ist dem HERRN verborgen, und mein Recht gehet vor meinem Gott über?
28 Dost thou not know? hast thou not heard? The God of everlasting is the Lord, is the Creator of the ends of the earth; he will not be faint and weary; unsearchable is his understanding.
Weißt du nicht? Hast du nicht gehört? Der HERR, der ewige Gott, der die Enden der Erde geschaffen hat, wird nicht müde noch matt; sein Verstand ist unausforschlich.
29 He giveth to the faint strength; and to the powerless he imparteth much might.
Er gibt dem Müden Kraft und Stärke genug dem Unvermögenden.
30 Though youths should grow faint and be weary, and young men should utterly stumble:
Die Knaben werden müde und matt, und die Jünglinge fallen;
31 Yet they that wait upon the Lord shall acquire new strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk, and not become faint.
aber die auf den HERRN harren, kriegen neue Kraft, daß sie auffahren mit Flügeln wie Adler, daß sie laufen und nicht matt werden, daß sie wandeln und nicht müde werden.
