Isaiah 28
1 Woe to the crown of pride, of the drunkards of Ephraim, and to the fading flower of his glorious ornament, which is on the eminence of the fat valley of those who are struck down by wine!
¡Ay de la arrogante corona de los ebrios de Efraín y de la flor marchita de su gloriosa hermosura que está sobre la cabeza de los que se jactan en la abundancia, aturdidos por el vino!
2 Behold, [it cometh] mighty and strong from the Lord, as a tempest of hail, a storm of destruction; as a tempest of mighty overflowing waters, will he cast it down to the earth with force.
Ciertamente ʼAdonay tiene uno que es fuerte y poderoso, como aguacero de granizo, como tormenta trastornadora, y como aguacero de recias aguas desbordantes que derriban la tierra con fuerza.
3 Under feet shall be trodden the crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim:
Con los pies pisoteará la arrogante corona de los ebrios de Efraín
4 And the fading flower of his glorious ornament, which is on the eminence of the fat valley, shall be as its early ripe fruit before the summer; which one, when he just seeth it, while it is scarcely in his hand, hastily devoureth.
y la flor marchita de su gloriosa hermosura que está sobre la cabeza de los que se jactan de la abundancia. Será como la fruta temprana que llega antes del verano, la cual cuando alguno la mira, se la traga tan pronto como la tiene en la mano.
5 On that day will the Lord of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people,
Aquel día Yavé de las huestes será corona de gloria y diadema de hermosura al remanente de su pueblo,
6 And for a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, and for strength to those that drive back the battle to the gate [of the enemy].
y Espíritu de justicia para el que se sienta a juzgar, valor para los que repelen el asalto a la puerta.
7 But these also are now stumbling through wine, and reeling through strong drink: priest and prophet are stumbling through strong drink, they are overpowered with wine, they reel through strong drink; they stumble in [divine] vision, they are unsteady in giving judgment.
Éstos también erraron a causa del vino y se entontecieron con el licor. Sacerdotes y profetas se tambalean por el licor. Los aturde el vino. Dan traspiés por el licor. El sacerdote y el profeta erraron por el licor. Fueron trastornados por el vino. Erraron en la visión. Titubean en la sentencia.
8 For all tables are full of vomit of filthiness, there is no place [clean].
Todas las mesas están llenas de vómito y suciedad, y no queda sitio limpio.
9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he give to understand doctrine? those that are weaned from the milk, those that are taken from the breasts.
¿A quién enseñará conocimiento? ¿A quién interpretará el mensaje? ¿A los que acaban de ser destetados? ¿A los que acaban de ser quitados del pecho materno?
10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little.
Porque es precepto a precepto, mandamiento a mandamiento, renglón por renglón, línea por línea, un poquito allí, otro poquito allá.
11 For [as] with stammering lips and a foreign tongue will he speak to this people;
En verdad, en lenguaje humillante, en lengua extraña Él hablará a este pueblo,
12 When he said unto them, This is the rest, cause ye the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing; but they would not hear.
el que les dijo: Aquí está el reposo. Den reposo al cansado. Esto es lugar de descanso. Pero no quisieron escuchar.
13 Therefore shall be unto them the word of the Lord, precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; in order that they may go, and stumble backward, and be broken, and snared, and caught.
Por lo cual, la Palabra de Yavé para ellos será precepto por precepto, mandamiento por mandamiento, renglón por renglón, línea por línea, un poquito allí, otro poquito allá, hasta que vayan y caigan de espalda, sean quebrantados, enredados y llevados cautivos.
14 Therefore hear the word of the Lord, ye scornful men, who rule this people that is in Jerusalem.
Por tanto, oh varones burlones que gobiernan a ese pueblo de Jerusalén: Escuchen la Palabra de Yavé:
15 Because ye have said, “We have entered into a covenant with death, and with the nether world have we made an agreement; the overflowing scourge, when it passeth by, shall not come at us; for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we sought a hiding-place.” (Sheol h7585)
Por cuanto dijeron: Hicimos un pacto con la muerte y con el Seol tenemos convenio. Cuando pase el aguacero como torrente, no llegará a nosotros, porque designamos la mentira como nuestro refugio y la falsedad como nuestro escondrijo. (Sheol h7585)
16 Therefore thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Behold, I have laid in Zion as a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a costly corner-stone, well founded: he that believeth will not make haste.
Por tanto, ʼAdonay Yavé dice: Ciertamente Yo pongo como Cimiento en Sion, una Piedra, Piedra probada, angular, preciosa, de cimiento estable. El que cree, no será conturbado.
17 And I will make of justice a measuring line, and of righteousness a plummet: and the hail shall sweep off the refuge of lies, and the hiding-place against the waters shall these flood away.
Pondré la justicia como cordel y la rectitud como plomada. El granizo arrasará su refugio de mentiras, y las aguas inundarán su escondrijo.
18 And your covenant with death shall be annulled, and your agreement with the nether world shall not have permanence; the overflowing scourge, when it passeth by—then shall ye be trodden down by it. (Sheol h7585)
Su pacto con la muerte será anulado, y su convenio con el Seol no será estable. Cuando pase el aguacero arrollador serán aplastados por él. (Sheol h7585)
19 As often as it passeth by shall it take you; for morning by morning shall it pass by, by day and by night; and the mere understanding of the report shall cause terror.
Cada vez que pase, los arrollará, y pasará mañana tras mañana, de día y de noche. Entonces entender el mensaje solo traerá terror.
20 For the bed shall be too short for [a man] to stretch himself out [on it]: and the covering too narrow to wrap himself in.
La cama será corta para estirarse y la manta estrecha para envolverse.
21 For as on mount Perazim will the Lord rise up, as in the valley of Gib'on will he be wroth, that he may do his work, his singular work; and to accomplish his labor, his strange labor.
Yavé se levantará como en la montaña Perazim. Se enardecerá como en el valle de Gabaón para hacer su trabajo, su extraño trabajo.
22 And now be ye no longer scornful, lest your bonds be made strong; for as completed and fully decreed have I heard it from the Lord Eternal of hosts over all the earth.
Por tanto, no se burlen, no sea que se aprieten más sus ataduras. Porque escuché de parte de ʼAdonay Yavé de las huestes la destrucción decretada sobre toda la tierra.
23 Give ye ear, and hear my voice; listen, and hear my speech.
Estén atentos y escuchen mi voz. Atiendan y escuchen mi palabra:
24 Doth the ploughman plough all the time to sow? doth he open and harrow his ground [continually]?
El que ara para sembrar, ¿arará día tras día? ¿Romperá y deshará los terrones todo el día?
25 Is it not so? that, when he hath made level its surface he scattereth fennel, and streweth about cumin, and planteth the wheat in rows, and barley on its assigned [place], and millet on its proper spot?
Tan pronto como el campo esté allanado, ¿no siembra el eneldo, esparce el comino, echa el trigo en sus surcos o la cebada en la parcela determinada y centeno en su borde?
26 For his God instructed him rightly, taught him [so to do].
Porque su ʼElohim lo instruye y le enseña lo conveniente:
27 Truly not with a threshing instrument is fennel threshed, and a wagon-wheel is not turned about upon cumin; but fennel is beaten out with a staff, and cumin with a stick.
Que el eneldo no se trilla con el trillo, ni se debe pasar la rueda de la carreta sobre el comino, pero el eneldo se golpea con un palo y el comino con una vara.
28 Bread-corn is crushed; but not for ever doth [man] keep threshing it; and though he drive over it the wheel of his wagon and his horses, he will not [thereby] crush it.
El grano se trilla, pero no indefinidamente, ni lo comprime con la rueda de la carreta, ni lo quiebra con los dientes de su trillo.
29 This also cometh forth from the Lord of hosts; wonderful is he in counsel, and excellent in [his] wise deeds.
También esto viene de Yavé de las huestes, Quien hace maravilloso su consejo y grande su sabiduría.
