Isaiah 28
1 Woe to the crown of pride, of the drunkards of Ephraim, and to the fading flower of his glorious ornament, which is on the eminence of the fat valley of those who are struck down by wine!
¡Ay de la corona de orgullo de los borrachos de Efraín, y de la flor marchita de su gloriosa belleza, que está en la cabeza del fértil valle de los que se dejan vencer por el vino!
2 Behold, [it cometh] mighty and strong from the Lord, as a tempest of hail, a storm of destruction; as a tempest of mighty overflowing waters, will he cast it down to the earth with force.
He aquí que el Señor tiene uno que es poderoso y fuerte. Como una tormenta de granizo, una tormenta destructora, y como una tormenta de aguas poderosas que se desbordan, los arrojará a la tierra con su mano.
3 Under feet shall be trodden the crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim:
La corona de orgullo de los borrachos de Efraín será pisoteada.
4 And the fading flower of his glorious ornament, which is on the eminence of the fat valley, shall be as its early ripe fruit before the summer; which one, when he just seeth it, while it is scarcely in his hand, hastily devoureth.
La flor marchita de su gloriosa belleza, que está en la cabeza del valle fértil, será como el higo de primera maduración antes del verano, que alguien recoge y come en cuanto lo ve.
5 On that day will the Lord of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people,
En ese día, el Señor de los Ejércitos se convertirá en una corona de gloria y en una diadema de belleza para el resto de su pueblo,
6 And for a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, and for strength to those that drive back the battle to the gate [of the enemy].
y en un espíritu de justicia para el que se sienta a juzgar, y en fuerza para los que hacen retroceder la batalla en la puerta.
7 But these also are now stumbling through wine, and reeling through strong drink: priest and prophet are stumbling through strong drink, they are overpowered with wine, they reel through strong drink; they stumble in [divine] vision, they are unsteady in giving judgment.
También se tambalean con el vino, y se tambalean con la bebida fuerte. El sacerdote y el profeta se tambalean con la bebida fuerte. El vino se los tragó. Se tambalean con la bebida fuerte. Se equivocan en la visión. Tropiezan en el juicio.
8 For all tables are full of vomit of filthiness, there is no place [clean].
Porque todas las mesas están completamente llenas de vómito e inmundicia.
9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he give to understand doctrine? those that are weaned from the milk, those that are taken from the breasts.
¿A quién le enseñará el conocimiento? ¿A quiénes les explicará el mensaje? ¿A los que han sido destetados de la leche y sacados de los pechos?
10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little.
Porque es precepto sobre precepto, precepto sobre precepto; línea sobre línea, línea sobre línea; aquí un poco, allí un poco.
11 For [as] with stammering lips and a foreign tongue will he speak to this people;
Pero hablará a esta nación de labios tartamudos y en otra lengua,
12 When he said unto them, This is the rest, cause ye the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing; but they would not hear.
a la que dijo: “Este es el lugar de descanso. Da descanso al cansado” y “Este es el refrigerio”; pero no quisieron escuchar.
13 Therefore shall be unto them the word of the Lord, precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; in order that they may go, and stumble backward, and be broken, and snared, and caught.
Por lo tanto, la palabra de Yahvé será para ellos precepto sobre precepto, precepto sobre precepto; línea sobre línea, línea sobre línea; aquí un poco, allí un poco; para que vayan, caigan de espaldas, sean quebrantados, atrapados y tomados.
14 Therefore hear the word of the Lord, ye scornful men, who rule this people that is in Jerusalem.
Escuchen, pues, la palabra de Yahvé, burlones, que gobiernan a este pueblo en Jerusalén:
15 Because ye have said, “We have entered into a covenant with death, and with the nether world have we made an agreement; the overflowing scourge, when it passeth by, shall not come at us; for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we sought a hiding-place.” (Sheol h7585)
“Porque ustedes han dicho: ‘Hemos hecho un pacto con la muerte, y estamos de acuerdo con el Seol. Cuando pase el azote desbordante, no vendrá a nosotros; porque hemos hecho de la mentira nuestro refugio, y nos hemos escondido bajo la mentira.’” (Sheol h7585)
16 Therefore thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Behold, I have laid in Zion as a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a costly corner-stone, well founded: he that believeth will not make haste.
Por eso dice el Señor Yahvé: “He aquí que pongo en Sión como fundamento una piedra, una piedra probada, una piedra angular preciosa de fundamento seguro. El que crea no actuará precipitadamente.
17 And I will make of justice a measuring line, and of righteousness a plummet: and the hail shall sweep off the refuge of lies, and the hiding-place against the waters shall these flood away.
Haré que la justicia sea la línea de medida, y la rectitud la línea de plomada. El granizo barrerá el refugio de la mentira, y las aguas desbordarán el escondite.
18 And your covenant with death shall be annulled, and your agreement with the nether world shall not have permanence; the overflowing scourge, when it passeth by—then shall ye be trodden down by it. (Sheol h7585)
Tu pacto con la muerte será anulado, y tu acuerdo con el Seol no se mantendrá. Cuando pase el azote desbordante, entonces serás pisoteado por él. (Sheol h7585)
19 As often as it passeth by shall it take you; for morning by morning shall it pass by, by day and by night; and the mere understanding of the report shall cause terror.
Todas las veces que pase, te apresará; porque de mañana a mañana pasará, de día y de noche; y no será más que terror entender el mensaje”.
20 For the bed shall be too short for [a man] to stretch himself out [on it]: and the covering too narrow to wrap himself in.
Porque el lecho es demasiado corto para extenderse, y la manta es demasiado estrecha para envolverse en ella.
21 For as on mount Perazim will the Lord rise up, as in the valley of Gib'on will he be wroth, that he may do his work, his singular work; and to accomplish his labor, his strange labor.
Porque Yahvé se levantará como en el monte Perazim. Se enfurecerá como en el valle de Gabaón; para hacer su obra, su insólita obra, y llevar a cabo su acto, su extraordinario acto.
22 And now be ye no longer scornful, lest your bonds be made strong; for as completed and fully decreed have I heard it from the Lord Eternal of hosts over all the earth.
Ahora, pues, no sean burlones, para que no se fortalezcan sus ataduras; porque he oído un decreto de destrucción de parte del Señor, Yahvé de los Ejércitos, sobre toda la tierra.
23 Give ye ear, and hear my voice; listen, and hear my speech.
¡Escuchen y oigan mi voz! ¡Escuchen, y oigan mi discurso!
24 Doth the ploughman plough all the time to sow? doth he open and harrow his ground [continually]?
¿Acaso el que ara para sembrar lo hace continuamente? ¿Acaso no revuelve la tierra y rompe los terrones?
25 Is it not so? that, when he hath made level its surface he scattereth fennel, and streweth about cumin, and planteth the wheat in rows, and barley on its assigned [place], and millet on its proper spot?
Cuando ha nivelado su superficie, ¿no planta el eneldo y esparce la semilla de comino, y coloca el trigo en hileras, la cebada en el lugar señalado y la escanda en su sitio?
26 For his God instructed him rightly, taught him [so to do].
Porque su Dios le instruye en el recto juicio y le enseña.
27 Truly not with a threshing instrument is fennel threshed, and a wagon-wheel is not turned about upon cumin; but fennel is beaten out with a staff, and cumin with a stick.
Porque el eneldo no se trilla con instrumento afilado, ni se hace girar una rueda de carro sobre el comino; sino que el eneldo se golpea con un palo, y el comino con una vara.
28 Bread-corn is crushed; but not for ever doth [man] keep threshing it; and though he drive over it the wheel of his wagon and his horses, he will not [thereby] crush it.
La harina de pan debe ser molida, por lo que no siempre estará trillando. Aunque pase la rueda de su carro de trillar sobre ella, sus caballos no la muelen.
29 This also cometh forth from the Lord of hosts; wonderful is he in counsel, and excellent in [his] wise deeds.
Esto también sale de Yahvé de los Ejércitos, que es maravilloso en el consejo, y excelente en la sabiduría.
