Isaiah 28
1 Woe to the crown of pride, of the drunkards of Ephraim, and to the fading flower of his glorious ornament, which is on the eminence of the fat valley of those who are struck down by wine!
Wehe der stolzen Krone [Wahrsch. Samaria] der Trunkenen Ephraims, und der welkenden Blume seiner herrlichen Pracht auf dem Haupte des fetten Tales [Samaria lag auf einem Hügel] der vom Weine Überwältigten!
2 Behold, [it cometh] mighty and strong from the Lord, as a tempest of hail, a storm of destruction; as a tempest of mighty overflowing waters, will he cast it down to the earth with force.
Siehe, der Herr hat einen Starken und Mächtigen, gleich einem Hagelwetter, einem verderbenden Sturmwinde; wie ein Wetter gewaltiger, überflutender Wasser reißt er zu Boden mit Macht.
3 Under feet shall be trodden the crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim:
Mit Füßen wird zertreten die stolze Krone der Trunkenen Ephraims.
4 And the fading flower of his glorious ornament, which is on the eminence of the fat valley, shall be as its early ripe fruit before the summer; which one, when he just seeth it, while it is scarcely in his hand, hastily devoureth.
Und der welkenden Blume seiner herrlichen Pracht auf dem Haupte des fetten Tales ergeht es wie dessen [d. i. des Tales] Frühfeige vor der Obsternte: kaum ist sie in der Hand dessen, der sie erblickt, so verschlingt er sie.
5 On that day will the Lord of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people,
An jenem Tage wird Jehova der Heerscharen dem Überrest seines Volkes zur prächtigen Krone und zum herrlichen Kranze sein;
6 And for a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, and for strength to those that drive back the battle to the gate [of the enemy].
und zum Geiste des Rechts dem, der zu Gericht sitzt; und zur Heldenkraft denen, welche den Streit zurückdrängen ans Tor.
7 But these also are now stumbling through wine, and reeling through strong drink: priest and prophet are stumbling through strong drink, they are overpowered with wine, they reel through strong drink; they stumble in [divine] vision, they are unsteady in giving judgment.
Und auch diese wanken vom Wein und taumeln von starkem Getränk: Priester und Prophet wanken von starkem Getränk, sind übermannt [Eig. verschlungen] vom Wein, taumeln vom starken Getränk; sie wanken beim Gesicht, schwanken beim Rechtsprechen.
8 For all tables are full of vomit of filthiness, there is no place [clean].
Denn alle Tische sind voll unflätigen Gespeies, daß kein Platz mehr ist.
9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he give to understand doctrine? those that are weaned from the milk, those that are taken from the breasts.
Wen soll [O. will] er Erkenntnis lehren, und wem die Botschaft verständlich machen? Den von der Milch Entwöhnten, den von den Brüsten Entfernten?
10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little.
Denn es ist Gebot auf Gebot, Gebot auf Gebot, Vorschrift auf Vorschrift, Vorschrift auf Vorschrift, hier ein wenig, da ein wenig! -
11 For [as] with stammering lips and a foreign tongue will he speak to this people;
Ja, durch stammelnde Lippen [d. h. durch solche, die eine unverständliche Sprache reden; vergl. Kap. 33,19] und durch eine fremde Sprache wird er zu diesem Volke reden,
12 When he said unto them, This is the rest, cause ye the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing; but they would not hear.
er, der zu ihnen sprach: Dies ist die Ruhe, schaffet Ruhe dem Ermüdeten; und dies die Erquickung! Aber sie wollten nicht hören.
13 Therefore shall be unto them the word of the Lord, precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; in order that they may go, and stumble backward, and be broken, and snared, and caught.
Und so wird ihnen das Wort Jehovas sein: Gebot auf Gebot, Gebot auf Gebot, Vorschrift auf Vorschrift, Vorschrift auf Vorschrift, hier ein wenig, da ein wenig; auf daß sie hingehen und rücklings fallen und zerschmettert werden und verstrickt und gefangen werden.
14 Therefore hear the word of the Lord, ye scornful men, who rule this people that is in Jerusalem.
Darum höret das Wort Jehovas, ihr Spötter, Beherrscher dieses Volkes, das in Jerusalem ist!
15 Because ye have said, “We have entered into a covenant with death, and with the nether world have we made an agreement; the overflowing scourge, when it passeth by, shall not come at us; for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we sought a hiding-place.” (Sheol h7585)
Denn ihr sprechet: Wir haben einen Bund mit dem Tode geschlossen und einen Vertrag mit dem Scheol gemacht: Wenn die überflutende Geißel hindurchfährt, wird sie an uns nicht kommen; denn wir haben die Lüge zu unserer Zuflucht gemacht und in der Falschheit uns geborgen. (Sheol h7585)
16 Therefore thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Behold, I have laid in Zion as a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a costly corner-stone, well founded: he that believeth will not make haste.
Darum, so spricht der Herr, Jehova: Siehe, ich gründe [Eig. Siehe, ich bin der, der gegründet hat] einen Stein in Zion, einen bewährten Stein, [Eig. einen Stein der Bewährung] einen kostbaren Eckstein, aufs Festeste gegründet; [Eig. gegründetster Gründung] wer glaubt, [O. wer auf ihn vertraut] wird nicht ängstlich eilen.
17 And I will make of justice a measuring line, and of righteousness a plummet: and the hail shall sweep off the refuge of lies, and the hiding-place against the waters shall these flood away.
Und ich werde das Recht zur Richtschnur machen, und die Gerechtigkeit zum Senkblei. Und der Hagel wird hinwegraffen die Zuflucht der Lüge, und die Wasser werden den Bergungsort wegschwemmen.
18 And your covenant with death shall be annulled, and your agreement with the nether world shall not have permanence; the overflowing scourge, when it passeth by—then shall ye be trodden down by it. (Sheol h7585)
Und euer Bund mit dem Tode wird zunichte werden, und euer Vertrag mit dem Scheol nicht bestehen: Wenn die überflutende Geißel hindurchfährt, so werdet ihr von derselben zertreten werden. (Sheol h7585)
19 As often as it passeth by shall it take you; for morning by morning shall it pass by, by day and by night; and the mere understanding of the report shall cause terror.
So oft sie hindurchfährt, wird sie euch hinraffen; denn jeden Morgen wird sie hindurchfahren, bei Tage und bei Nacht. Und es wird eitel Schrecken sein, die Botschaft zu vernehmen.
20 For the bed shall be too short for [a man] to stretch himself out [on it]: and the covering too narrow to wrap himself in.
Denn das Bett ist zu kurz, um sich auszustrecken und die Decke zu schmal, um sich einzuhüllen.
21 For as on mount Perazim will the Lord rise up, as in the valley of Gib'on will he be wroth, that he may do his work, his singular work; and to accomplish his labor, his strange labor.
Denn Jehova wird sich aufmachen wie bei dem Berge Perazim, [Vergl. 1. Chron. 14,11] wie im Tale zu Gibeon [Vergl. 1. Chron. 14,13-16] wird er zürnen: um sein Werk zu tun-befremdend ist sein Werk! -und um seine Arbeit zu verrichten, -außergewöhnlich [Eig. fremdartig] ist seine Arbeit!
22 And now be ye no longer scornful, lest your bonds be made strong; for as completed and fully decreed have I heard it from the Lord Eternal of hosts over all the earth.
Und nun treibet nicht Spott, damit eure Bande nicht fester gemacht werden; denn ich habe Vernichtung vernommen und Festbeschlossenes von seiten des Herrn, Jehovas der Heerscharen, über die ganze Erde.
23 Give ye ear, and hear my voice; listen, and hear my speech.
Nehmet zu Ohren und höret meine Stimme, merket auf und höret meine Rede!
24 Doth the ploughman plough all the time to sow? doth he open and harrow his ground [continually]?
Pflügt wohl der Pflüger den ganzen Tag, um zu säen? Furcht und eggt er den ganzen Tag sein Ackerland?
25 Is it not so? that, when he hath made level its surface he scattereth fennel, and streweth about cumin, and planteth the wheat in rows, and barley on its assigned [place], and millet on its proper spot?
Ist es nicht so? wenn er dessen Fläche geebnet hat, so streut er Dill und sät Kümmel, und wirft Weizen reihenweise, und Gerste auf das abgesteckte Stück, und den Spelt an seinen Rand.
26 For his God instructed him rightly, taught him [so to do].
So unterwies ihn sein Gott zum richtigen Verfahren, er belehrte ihn.
27 Truly not with a threshing instrument is fennel threshed, and a wagon-wheel is not turned about upon cumin; but fennel is beaten out with a staff, and cumin with a stick.
Denn Dill wird nicht mit dem Dreschschlitten ausgedroschen und das Wagenrad nicht über Kümmel gerollt; sondern Dill wird mit dem Stabe ausgeschlagen und Kümmel mit dem Stocke.
28 Bread-corn is crushed; but not for ever doth [man] keep threshing it; and though he drive over it the wheel of his wagon and his horses, he will not [thereby] crush it.
Wird Brotkorn zermalmt? Nein, nicht unaufhörlich drischt er es; und wenn er das Rad seines Wagens und seine Pferde darüber hintreibt, so zermalmt er es nicht.
29 This also cometh forth from the Lord of hosts; wonderful is he in counsel, and excellent in [his] wise deeds.
Auch dieses geht aus von Jehova der Heerscharen; er ist wunderbar in seinem Rat, groß an Verstand.
