Hosea 6

1 “Come, and let us return unto the Lord; for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind up our wounds.

قوم اسرائیل می‌گویند: «بیایید به سوی خداوند بازگشت نماییم. او ما را دریده و خودش نیز ما را شفا خواهد داد. او ما را مجروح ساخته و خود بر زخم ما مرهم خواهد گذاشت.

2 He will revive us after two days: on the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his presence.

بعد از دو سه روز ما را دوباره زنده خواهد کرد و ما در حضور او زندگی خواهیم نمود.

3 And let us feel it, that we may strive to know the Lord; bright as the morning-dawn is his rising; and he will come as the rain unto us, as the latter rain that maketh fruitful the earth.”

بیایید تلاش کنیم تا خداوند را بشناسیم! همان‌طور که دمیدن سپیدهٔ صبح و ریزش باران بهاری حتمی است، اجابت دعای ما از جانب او نیز حتمی است.»

4 What shall I do unto thee, O Ephraim? what shall I do unto thee, O Judah? for your piety is as a morning cloud, and as the early dew that passeth away.

اما خداوند می‌فرماید: «ای اسرائیل و یهودا، من با شما چه کنم؟ زیرا محبت شما مانند ابر صبحگاهی زودگذر است و همچون شبنم به زودی ناپدید می‌شود.

5 Therefore did I hew [them] down by means of the prophets; I slew them by the words of my mouth: and thy punishments go forth like the light.

به این دلیل است که من انبیای خود را فرستاده‌ام تا کلام داوری مرا بیان کنند و از هلاکتی که در انتظارتان است شما را آگاه سازند. پس بدانید که داوری من چون صاعقه بر شما فرود خواهد آمد.

6 For piety I desired, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God, more than burnt-offerings.

من از شما محبت می‌خواهم نه قربانی. من از هدایای شما خشنود نیستم بلکه خواهان آنم که مرا بشناسید.

7 But they, like an ordinary man, have transgressed the covenant: there have they dealt treacherously against me.

«ولی شما نیز مانند آدم، عهد مرا شکستید و به من خیانت ورزیدید.

8 Gil'ad is become a city of workers of wickedness, is full of traces of blood.

جلعاد، شهر گناهکاران و قاتلان است.

9 And as troops that lie in wait for a man, so is the band of priests, they murder on the way in unison; for they commit scandalous deeds.

اهالی آن راهزنان تبهکاری هستند که برای قربانیان خود در کمین می‌نشینند. کاهنان در طول راه شکیم، کشتار می‌کنند و دست به هر نوع گناهی می‌زنند.

10 On the house of Israel have I seen a horrible thing: there is lewdness in Ephraim, Israel is become defiled.

آری، من عملی هولناک در اسرائیل دیده‌ام؛ مردم به دنبال خدایان دیگر رفته و به کلی نجس شده‌اند.

11 Also for thee, O Judah, will a harvest be prepared, when I bring back the captivity of my people.

«ای یهودا، مجازاتهای بسیاری نیز در انتظار توست، هرچند می‌خواستم سعادت را به قوم خویش بازگردانم.
