< Genesis 6 >

1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
And Noe was five hundred years old, and he begot three sons, Sem, Cham, and Japheth. And it came to pass when men began to be numerous upon the earth, and daughters were born to them,
2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were fair; and they took themselves wives of all whom they chose.
that the sons of God having seen the daughters of men that they were beautiful, took to themselves wives of all whom they chose.
3 And the Lord said, My Spirit shall not always strive for the sake of man, for that he is but flesh; yet his days [of grace] shall be a hundred and twenty years.
And the Lord God said, My Spirit shall certainly not remain amongst these men for ever, because they are flesh, but their days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
4 The giants were on the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bore children to them; these became the mighty men, who were of old the men of renown.
Now the giants were upon the earth in those days; and after that when the sons of God were wont to go in to the daughters of men, they bore [children] to them, those were the giants of old, the men of renown.
5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
And the Lord God, having seen that the wicked actions of men were multiplied upon the earth, and that every one in his heart was intently brooding over evil continually,
6 And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
then God laid it to heart that he had made man upon the earth, and he pondered [it] deeply.
7 And the Lord said, I will destroy the man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man and beast, and the creeping things and the fowls of the heaven; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
And God said, I will blot out man whom I have made from the face of the earth, even man with cattle, and reptiles with flying creatures of the sky, for I am grieved that I have made them.
8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.
But Noe found grace before the Lord God.
9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just, perfect man in his generation; Noah walked with God.
And these [are] the generations of Noe. Noe was a just man; being perfect in his generation, Noe was well-pleasing to God.
10 And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
And Noe begot three sons, Sem, Cham, Japheth.
11 And the earth was corrupt before God; and the earth was filled with violence.
But the earth was corrupted before God, and the earth was filled with iniquity.
12 And God looked upon the earth, and behold, it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.
And the Lord God saw the earth, and it was corrupted; because all flesh had corrupted its way upon the earth.
13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them, and I will destroy them with the earth.
And the Lord God said to Noe, A period of all men is come before me; because the earth has been filled with iniquity by them, and, behold, I destroy them and the earth.
14 Make thee an ark of gopher-wood, rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.
Make therefore for yourself an ark of square timber; you shall make the ark in compartments, and you shall pitch it within and without with pitch.
15 And this is the manner in which thou shalt make it: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.
And thus shall you make the ark; three hundred cubits the length of the ark, and fifty cubits the breadth, and thirty cubits the height of it.
16 A window shalt thou make to the ark, and thou shalt finish it above, to be one cubit broad, and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it.
You shall narrow the ark in making it, and in a cubit above you shall finish it, and the door of the ark you shall make on the side; with lower, second, and third storeys you shall make it.
17 And as regards myself, behold, I will bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under the heavens; every thing that is on the earth shall perish.
And behold I bring a flood of water upon the earth, to destroy all flesh in which is the breath of life under heaven, and whatever things are upon the earth shall die.
18 But I will establish my covenant with thee; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee.
And I will establish my covenant with you, and you shall enter into the ark, and your sons and your wife, and your sons' wives with you.
19 And of every living thing, of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee: male and female shall they be.
And of all cattle and of all reptiles and of all wild beasts, even of all flesh, you shall bring by pairs of all, into the ark, that you may feed them with yourself: male and female they shall be.
20 Of the fowls after their kind, and of the cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after its kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive.
Of all winged birds after their kind, and of all cattle after their kind, and of all reptiles creeping upon the earth after their kind, pairs of all shall come in to you, male and female to be fed with you.
21 And thou, for thy part, take unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be unto thee, and unto them for food.
And you shall take to yourself of all kinds of food which you eat, and you shall gather them to yourself, and it shall be for you and them to eat.
22 Thus did Noah; according to all that God had commanded him, so he did.
And Noe did all things whatever the Lord God commanded him, so did he.
