Genesis 36

1 Now these are the generations of Esau, who is Edom.

Hae sunt autem generationes Esau, ipse est Edom.

2 Esau took his wives of the daughters of Canaan; Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite;

Esau accepit uxores de filiabus Chanaan: Ada filiam Elon Hethaei, et Oolibama filiam Anae filiae Sebeon Hevaei:

3 And Bahsemath Ishmael's daughter, the sister of Nebayoth.

Basemath quoque filiam Ismael sororem Nabaioth.

4 And Adah bore to Esau Eliphaz; and Bahsemath bore Reuel;

Peperit autem Ada, Eliphaz: Basemath genuit Rahuel:

5 And Aholibamah bore Yeush, and Ya'lam, and Korach: these are the sons of Esau, that were born unto him in the land Canaan.

Oolibama genuit Iehus et Ihelon et Core. hi filii Esau qui nati sunt ei in terra Chanaan.

6 And Esau took his wives, and his sons, and his daughters, and all the persons of his house, and his cattle, and all his beasts, and all his substance, which he had gotten in the land of Canaan; and went into another country from the face of his brother Jacob.

Tulit autem Esau uxores suas et filios et filias, et omnem animam domus suae, et substantiam, et pecora, et cuncta quae habere poterat in terra Chanaan: et abiit in alteram regionem, recessitque a fratre suo Iacob.

7 For their riches were more than that they might dwell together; and the land of their sojourning could not bear them, because of their cattle.

Divites enim erant valde, et simul habitare non poterant: nec sustinebat eos terra peregrinationis eorum prae multitudine gregum.

8 Thus dwelt Esau in mount Seir: Esau is Edom.

Habitavitque Esau in monte Seir, ipse est Edom.

9 And these are the generations of Esau the father of the Edom in mount Seir.

Hae autem sunt generationes Esau patris Edom in monte Seir,

10 These are the names of Esau's sons: Eliphaz the son of Adah the wife of Esau, Reuel the son of Bahsemath the wife of Esau.

et haec nomina filiorum eius: Eliphaz filius Ada uxoris Esau: Rahuel quoque filius Basemath uxoris eius.

11 And the sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, and Ga'tam, and Kenaz.

Fueruntque Eliphaz filii: Theman, Omar, Sepho, et Gatham, et Cenez.

12 And Timna was concubine to Eliphaz Esau's son: and she bore to Eliphaz Amalek; these were the sons of Adah, Esau's wife.

Erat autem Thamna, concubina Eliphaz filii Esau: quae peperit ei Amalech. hi sunt filii Ada uxoris Esau.

13 And these are the sons of Reuel: Nachath, and Zerach, Shammah, and Mizzah; these were the sons of Bahsemath, Esau's wife.

Filii autem Rahuel: Nahath et Zara, Samma et Meza. hi filii Basemath uxoris Esau.

14 And these were the sons of Aholibamah, the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon, Esau's wife: and she bore to Esau Yeush, and Ya'lam, and Korach.

Isti quoque erant filii Oolibama filiae Anae filiae Sebeon, uxoris Esau, quos genuit ei Iehus et Ihelon et Core.

15 These are the dukes of the sons of Esau; the sons of Eliphaz the first-born of Esau: duke Teman, duke Omar, duke Zepho, duke Kenaz,

Hi duces filiorum Esau: Filii Eliphaz primogeniti Esau: dux Theman, dux Omra, dux Sepho, dux Cenez,

16 Duke Korach, duke Ga'tam, duke Amalek; these are the dukes of Eliphaz in the land of Edom; these are the sons of Adah.

dux Core, dux Gathan, dux Amalech. hi filii Eliphaz in terra Edom, et hi filii Ada.

17 And these are the sons of Reuel Esau's son: duke Nachath, duke Zerach, duke Shammah, duke Mizzah; these are the dukes of Reuel in the land of Edom; these are the sons of Bahsemath, Esau's wife.

Hi quoque filii Rahuel filii Esau: dux Nahath, dux Zara, dux Samma, dux Meza. hi autem duces Rahuel in terra Edom: isti filii Basemath uxoris Esau.

18 And these are the sons of Aholibamah, Esau's wife: duke Yeush, duke Ya'lam, duke Korach; these are the dukes of Aholibamah the daughter of Anah, Esau's wife.

Hi autem filii Oolibama uxoris Esau: dux Iehus, dux Ihelon, dux Core. hi duces Oolibama filiae Anae uxoris Esau.

19 These are the sons of Esau, and these are their dukes; this is Edom.

Isti sunt filii Esau, et hi duces eorum: ipse est Edom.

20 These are the sons of Seir the Chorite, who inhabited the land: Lotan, and Shobal, and Zibeon, and Anah,

Isti sunt filii Seir Horraei, habitatores terrae: Lotan, et Sobal, et Sebeon, et Ana,

21 And Dishon, and Etzer, and Dishan; these are the dukes of the Chorites, the children of Seir in the land of Edom.

et Dison, et Eser, et Disan. hi duces Horraei, filii Seir in Terra Edom.

22 And the children of Lotan were Chori and Heman; and Lotan's sister was Timna.

Facti sunt autem filii Lotan: Hori et Heman. erat autem soror Lotan, Thamna.

23 And these were the children of Shobal: Alvan, and Manachath, and Ebal, Shepho, and Onam.

Et isti filii Sobal: Alvan et Manahat et Ebal, et Sepho et Onam.

24 And these are the children of Zibeon: both Ajah, and Anah; this was that Anah that found the mules in the wilderness, as he fed the asses of Zibeon his father.

Et hi filii Sebeon: Aia et Ana. Iste est Ana qui invenit aquas calidas in solitudine, cum pasceret asinas Sebeon patris sui:

25 And these are the children of Anah: Dishon, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah.

habuitque filium Dison, et filiam Oolibama.

26 And these are the children of Dishan: Chemdan, and Eshban, and Yithran, and Cheran.

Et isti filii Dison: Hamdan, et Eseban, et Iethram, et Charan.

27 These are the children of Etzer: Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan.

Hi quoque filii Eser: Balaan, et Zavan, et Acan.

28 These are the children of Dishan: Uz, and Aran.

Habuit autem filios Disan: Hus, et Aram.

29 These are the dukes of the Chorites: duke Lotan, duke Shobal, duke Zibeon, duke Anah;

Hi duces Horraeorum: dux Lotan, dux Sobal, dux Sebeon, dux Ana,

30 Duke Dishon, duke Etzer, duke Dishan; these are the dukes of the Chorites, after their dukes in the land of Seir.

dux Dison, dux Eser, dux Disan: isti duces Horraeorum qui imperaverunt in Terra Seir.

31 And these are the kings that reigned in the land of Edom, before there reigned any king over the children of Israel.

Reges autem qui regnaverunt in Terra Edom antequam haberent regem filii Israel, fuerunt hi:

32 And there reigned in Edom Bela the son of Beor: and the name of his city was Dinhabah.

Bela filius Beor, nomenque urbis eius Denaba.

33 And Bela died, and there reigned in his stead Yobab the son of Zerach of Bozrah.

Mortuus est autem Bela, et regnavit pro eo Iobab filius Zarae de Bosra.

34 And Yobab died, and there reigned in his stead Chusham of the land of Teman.

Cumque mortuus esset Iobab, regnavit pro eo Husam de terra Themanorum.

35 And Chusham died, and there reigned in his stead Hadad the son of Bedad, who smote Midian in the field of Moab; and the name of his city was Avith.

Hoc quoque mortuo, regnavit pro eo Adad filius Badad, qui percussit Madian in regione Moab: et nomen urbis eius Avith.

36 And Hadad died, and there reigned in his stead Samlah of Masrekah.

Cumque mortuus esset Adad, regnavit pro eo Semla de Masreca.

37 And Samlah died, and there reigned in his stead Shaul of Rechoboth by the river.

Hoc quoque mortuo regnavit pro eo Saul de fluvio Rohoboth.

38 And Shaul died, and there reigned in his stead Baal-chanan the son of Achbor.

Cumque et hic obiisset, successit in regnum Balanan filius Achobor.

39 And Baal-chanan the son of Achbor died, and there reigned in his stead Hadar, and the name of his city was Pau; and his wife's name was Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Me-zahab.

Isto quoque mortuo regnavit pro eo Adar, nomenque urbis eius Phau: et appellabatur uxor eius Meetabel, filia Matred filiae Mezaab.

40 And these are the names of the dukes of Esau, according to their families, after their places, by their names: duke Timna, duke Alvah, duke Yetheth,

Haec ergo nomina ducum Esau in cognationibus, et locis, et vocabulis suis: dux Thamna, dux Alva, dux Ietheth,

41 Duke Aholibamah, duke Elah, duke Pinon.

dux Oolibama, dux Ela, dux Phinon,

42 Duke Kenaz, duke Teman, duke Mibzar,

dux Cenez, dux Theman, dux Mabsar,

43 Duke Magdiel, duke Iram; these are the dukes of Edom, according to their habitations in the land of their possession: this is Esau the father of the Edom.

dux Magdiel, dux Hiram: hi duces Edom habitantes in terra imperii sui, ipse est Esau pater Idumaeorum.
