Genesis 32
1 And Jacob went on his way, and there met him angels of God.
௧யாக்கோபு பயணம் செய்யும்போது, தேவதூதர்கள் அவனை சந்தித்தார்கள்.
2 And when Jacob saw them, he said, This is a host of God; and he called the name of that place Machanayim.
௨யாக்கோபு அவர்களைக் கண்டபோது: “இது தேவனுடைய படை” என்று சொல்லி, அந்த இடத்திற்கு மகனாயீம் என்று பெயரிட்டான்.
3 And Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother unto the land of Seir, the country of Edom.
௩பின்பு, யாக்கோபு ஏதோமின் எல்லையாகிய சேயீர் தேசத்திலிருக்கிற தன் சகோதரனாகிய ஏசாவினிடம் போவதற்காக ஆட்களை வரவழைத்து:
4 And he commanded them, saying, Thus shall ye speak unto my lord, to Esau, Thus hath said thy servant Jacob, With Laban have I sojourned, and stayed until now.
௪“நீங்கள் என் ஆண்டவனாகிய ஏசாவினிடம் போய், நான் இதுவரை லாபானிடத்தில் தங்கியிருந்தேன் என்றும்,
5 And I have acquired oxen, and asses, flocks, and men-servants, and women-servants; and I send now to tell my lord, to find grace in thy eyes.
௫எனக்கு எருதுகளும், கழுதைகளும், ஆடுகளும், வேலைக்காரரும், வேலைக்காரிகளும் உண்டென்றும், உம்முடைய கண்களில் எனக்குத் தயவு கிடைக்கத்தக்கதாக ஆண்டவனாகிய உமக்கு இதை அறிவிக்கும்படி ஆட்களை அனுப்பினேன் என்றும் உம்முடைய தாசனாகிய யாக்கோபு சொல்லச்சொன்னான்” என்று சொல்லுவதற்குக் கட்டளைகொடுத்துத் தனக்கு முன்பாக அவர்களை அனுப்பினான்.
6 And the messengers returned to Jacob, saying, We came to thy brother, to Esau, and also he cometh to meet thee, and four hundred men with him.
௬அந்த ஆட்கள் யாக்கோபினிடத்திற்குத் திரும்பிவந்து: “நாங்கள் உம்முடைய சகோதரனாகிய ஏசாவினிடத்திற்குப் போய்வந்தோம்; அவரும் நானூறு பேரோடு உம்மை எதிர்கொள்ள வருகிறார் என்றார்கள்.
7 Then Jacob was greatly afraid, and he felt distressed; and he divided the people that were with him, and the flocks, and the herds, and the camels, into two bands.
௭அப்பொழுது யாக்கோபு மிகவும் பயந்து, கலக்கமடைந்து, தன்னிடத்திலிருந்த மக்களையும் ஆடுமாடுகளையும் ஒட்டகங்களையும் இரண்டு பகுதியாகப் பிரித்து:
8 And he said, If Esau should come to the one band and smite it, then the other band which is left may escape.
௮ஏசா ஒரு பகுதியைத் தாக்கி அதை அழித்தாலும், மற்றப் பகுதி தப்பித்துக்கொள்ள முடியும் என்றான்.
9 And Jacob said, O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, the Lord who saidst unto me, Return unto thy country, and to thy birthplace, and I will deal well with thee:
௯பின்பு யாக்கோபு: “என் தகப்பனாகிய ஆபிரகாமின் தேவனும், என் தகப்பனாகிய ஈசாக்கின் தேவனுமாக இருக்கிறவரே: உன் தேசத்திற்கும் உன் இனத்தாரிடத்திற்கும் திரும்பிப்போ, உனக்கு நன்மை செய்வேன் என்று என்னுடன் சொல்லியிருக்கிற யெகோவாவே,
10 I am not worthy of all the kindness, and of all the truth, which thou hast shown unto thy servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two bands.
௧0அடியேனுக்கு தேவரீர் காண்பித்த எல்லா தயவுக்கும் எல்லா உண்மைக்கும் நான் எவ்வளவேனும் தகுதியுள்ளவன் அல்ல, நான் கோலும் கையுமாக இந்த யோர்தானைக் கடந்துபோனேன்; இப்பொழுது இவ்விரண்டு பரிவாரங்களையும் உடையவனானேன்.
11 Deliver me, I pray thee, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau; for I fear him, lest he will come and smite me, the mother with the children.
௧௧என் சகோதரனாகிய ஏசாவின் கைக்கு என்னைத் தப்புவியும், அவன் வந்து என்னையும் பிள்ளைகளையும் தாய்மார்களையும் தாக்குவான் என்று அவனுக்கு நான் பயந்திருக்கிறேன்.
12 And thou saidst, I will surely do thee good, and make thy seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.
௧௨தேவரீரோ: நான் உனக்கு மெய்யாகவே நன்மைசெய்து, உன் சந்ததியை எண்ணிமுடியாத கடற்கரை மணலைப்போல மிகவும் பெருகச் செய்வேன் என்று சொன்னீரே” என்றான்.
13 And he lodged there that same night; and he took of that which he carried with him a present for Esau his brother:
௧௩அன்று இரவு அவன் அங்கே தங்கி, தன்னிடம் உள்ளவைகளில் தன் சகோதரனாகிய ஏசாவுக்கு வெகுமதியாக,
14 Two hundred she-goats, and twenty he-goats, two hundred ewes, and twenty rams.
௧௪இருநூறு வெள்ளாடுகளையும், இருபது வெள்ளாட்டுக் கடாக்களையும், இருநூறு செம்மறியாடுகளையும், இருபது ஆட்டுக்கடாக்களையும்,
15 Thirty milch camels with their colts, forty cows, and ten bulls, twenty she-asses, and ten foals.
௧௫பால் கொடுக்கிற முப்பது ஒட்டகங்களையும், அவைகளின் குட்டிகளையும், நாற்பது பசுக்களையும், பத்துக் காளைகளையும், இருபது பெண் கழுதைகளையும், பத்துக் கழுதைக்குட்டிகளையும் பிரித்தெடுத்து,
16 And he delivered them into the hand of his servants, every drove by itself; and he said unto his servants, Pass on before me, and put a space between drove and drove.
௧௬வேலைக்காரர்களிடம் ஒவ்வொரு மந்தையைத் தனித்தனியாக ஒப்படைத்து, நீங்கள் ஒவ்வொரு மந்தைக்கும் முன்னும் பின்னுமாக இடம்விட்டு எனக்கு முன்னாக ஓட்டிக்கொண்டுசெல்லுங்கள்” என்று தன் வேலைக்காரர்களுக்குச் சொல்லி,
17 And he commanded the foremost, saying, When Esau my brother should meet thee, and ask thee, saying, Whose art thou? and whither art thou going? and for whom are these before thee?
௧௭முதலில் போகிறவனை நோக்கி: “என் சகோதரனாகிய ஏசா உனக்கு எதிர்ப்பட்டு: நீ யாருடையவன்? எங்கே போகிறாய்? உனக்குமுன் போகிற மந்தை யாருடையது? என்று உன்னைக் கேட்டால்,
18 Then shalt thou say, They belong to thy servant, to Jacob; it is a present sent unto my lord, to Esau; and, behold, also, he is himself behind us.
௧௮நீ: இது உமது அடியானாகிய யாக்கோபுடையது; இது என் ஆண்டவனாகிய ஏசாவுக்கு அனுப்பப்படுகிற வெகுமதி; இதோ, அவனும் எங்களுக்குப் பின்னே வருகிறான் என்று சொல்” என்றான்.
19 And so he commanded also the second, also the third, as also all that followed the droves, saying, After this manner shall ye speak unto Esau, when ye find him.
௧௯இரண்டாம் மூன்றாம் வேலைக்காரனையும், மந்தைகளின் பின்னாலே போகிற அனைவரையும் நோக்கி: நீங்களும் ஏசாவைக் காணும்போது, இந்தவிதமாகவே அவனிடம் சொல்லி,
20 And say ye moreover, Behold, also thy servant Jacob is behind us. For he said, I will appease him with the present that goeth before me, and afterward I will see his face; peradventure he will receive me kindly.
௨0“இதோ, உமது அடியானாகிய யாக்கோபு எங்களுக்குப் பின்னே வருகிறான் என்றும் சொல்லுங்கள் என்று கட்டளையிட்டான்; முன்னே வெகுமதியை அனுப்பி, அவனைச் சாந்தப்படுத்திவிட்டு, பின்பு அவனுடைய முகத்தைப் பார்ப்பேன், அப்பொழுது ஒருவேளை என்மீது தயவாயிருப்பான்” என்றான்.
21 The present went thus on before him; and he lodged himself that night in the camp.
௨௧அந்தப்படியே வெகுமதிகள் அவனுக்குமுன் போனது; அவனோ அன்று இரவில் முகாமிலே தங்கி,
22 And he rose up that night, and he took his two wives, and his two women-servants, and his eleven sons, and passed over the ford of the Yabbok.
௨௨இரவில் எழுந்திருந்து, தன்னுடைய இரண்டு மனைவிகளையும், இரண்டு மறுமனையாட்டிகளையும், பதினொரு மகன்களையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, யாப்போக்கு என்ற ஆற்றை அதன் ஆழமில்லாத பகுதியில் கடந்தான்.
23 And he took them, and sent them over the stream and sent over what he had.
௨௩அவர்களையும், தனக்கு உண்டான அனைத்தையும் ஆற்றைக்கடக்க செய்து, அக்கரைப்படுத்தினான்.
24 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.
௨௪யாக்கோபு தன்னைத் தனிமைப்படுத்திக்கொண்டான்; அப்பொழுது ஒரு மனிதன் பொழுது விடியும்வரை அவனுடன் போராடி,
25 And when he saw that he could net prevail against him, he struck against the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was put out of joint, as he was wrestling with him.
௨௫அவனை மேற்கொள்ள முடியாததைக்கண்டு, அவனுடைய தொடைச்சந்தைத் தொட்டார்; அதனால் அவருடன் போராடும்போது யாக்கோபின் தொடைச்சந்து சுளுக்கிற்று.
26 And he said, Let me go, for the day hath dawned. And he said, I will not let thee go until thou hast blessed me.
௨௬அவர்: “என்னைப் போகவிடு, பொழுது விடிகிறது என்றார். அதற்கு அவன்: “நீர் என்னை ஆசீர்வதித்தாலொழிய உம்மைப் போகவிடமாட்டேன்” என்றான்.
27 And he said unto him, What is thy name? and he said, Jacob.
௨௭அவர்: “உன் பெயர் என்ன” என்று கேட்டார்; “யாக்கோபு” என்றான்.
28 And he said, Not Jacob shall any more be called thy name, but Israel; for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.
௨௮அப்பொழுது அவர்: “உன் பெயர் இனி யாக்கோபு எனப்படாமல் இஸ்ரவேல் எனப்படும்; தேவனோடும் மனிதர்களோடும் போராடி மேற்கொண்டாயே” என்றார்.
29 And Jacob asked him, and said, tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.
௨௯அப்பொழுது யாக்கோபு: “உம்முடைய நாமத்தை எனக்கு தெரிவிக்கவேண்டும் என்று கேட்டான்; அதற்கு அவர்: “நீ என் நாமத்தைக் கேட்பதென்ன” என்று சொல்லி, அங்கே அவனை ஆசீர்வதித்தார்.
30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen an angel of God face to face, and my life hath been preserved.
௩0அப்பொழுது யாக்கோபு: “நான் தேவனை முகமுகமாகக் கண்டேன், உயிர் தப்பிப் பிழைத்தேன்” என்று சொல்லி, அந்த இடத்திற்குப் பெனியேல் என்று பெயரிட்டான்.
31 And the sun rose unto him as he passed by Penuel, and he halted upon his thigh.
௩௧அவன் பெனியேலைக் கடந்துபோகும்போது, சூரியன் உதயமானது; அவனுடைய தொடை சுளுக்கியதாலே நொண்டி நொண்டி நடந்தான்.
32 Therefore do the children of Israel not eat the sinew which shrank, which is upon the hollow of the thigh, unto this day; because he struck against the hollow of Jacob's thigh on the sinew that shrank.
௩௨அவர் யாக்கோபுடைய தொடைச்சந்து நரம்பைத் தொட்டதால், இஸ்ரவேல் வம்சத்தார் இந்த நாள்வரைக்கும் தொடைச்சந்து நரம்பைச் சாப்பிடுகிறதில்லை.
