Genesis 22
1 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and he said unto him, Abraham, and he said, Behold, here am I.
૧ત્યાર બાદ ઈશ્વરે ઇબ્રાહિમની આધીનતાની કસોટી કરી. તેમણે તેને કહ્યું, “ઇબ્રાહિમ!” ઇબ્રાહિમે કહ્યું, “હું આ રહ્યો.”
2 And he said: Take now thy son, thy only one, whom thou lovest, even Isaac, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt-offering upon one of the mountains which I tell thee of.
૨પછી ઈશ્વરે કહ્યું, “તારો એકનો એક દીકરો, ઇસહાક, જેના પર તું ખૂબ પ્રેમ કરે છે, તેને લઈને મોરિયા દેશમાં જા. અને ત્યાંના પર્વતોમાંના હું તને બતાવું તે પર તું તેનું દહનીયાર્પણ કર.”
3 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son; and he clave the wood for the burnt-offering, and arose, and went unto the place of which God had told him.
૩તેથી ઇબ્રાહિમ વહેલી સવારે ઊઠ્યો અને તેણે ગધેડા પર જીન બાંધ્યું. તેના બે યુવાન ચાકરોને તથા દીકરા ઇસહાકને તેની સાથે લીધા. દહનીયાર્પણને સારુ લાકડાં પણ લીધાં. ઈશ્વરે જે જગ્યા બતાવી હતી ત્યાં તેઓ ગયા.
4 On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.
૪ત્રીજા દિવસે ઇબ્રાહિમે દૂરથી તે જગ્યાને નિહાળી.
5 And Abraham said unto his young men, abide ye here with the ass, and I and the lad will go yonder, and we will worship, and then come again to you.
૫ઇબ્રાહિમે તેના જુવાનોને કહ્યું, “તમે અહીં ગધેડા પાસે રહો, હું તથા ઇસહાક ત્યાં ઉપર જઈશું. અમે અર્પણ કરીને તમારી પાસે પાછા આવીશું.”
6 And Abraham took the wood for the burnt-offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took in his hand the fire and the knife; and they went both of them together.
૬પછી ઇબ્રાહિમે દહનીયાર્પણ માટેનાં લાકડાં ઊંચકી લેવા માટે પોતાના દીકરા ઇસહાકને આપ્યાં. તેણે પોતાના હાથમાં અગ્નિ તથા છરો લીધાં અને તેઓ બન્ને સાથે પર્વત પર ગયા.
7 And Isaac spoke unto Abraham his father, and said, My father; and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold, here is the fire and the wood; but where is the lamb for a burnt-offering?
૭ઇસહાકે તેના પિતા ઇબ્રાહિમને કહ્યું, “મારા પિતા” અને તેણે કહ્યું, “બોલ, મારા દીકરા, હું આ રહ્યો.” તેણે કહ્યું, “જુઓ, અહીં અગ્નિ તથા લાકડાં તો છે, પણ દહનીયાર્પણને માટે ઘેટું ક્યાં છે?
8 And Abraham said, God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt-offering, my son; so they went both of them together.
૮ઇબ્રાહિમે કહ્યું, “મારા દીકરા, દહનીયાર્પણને સારુ ઈશ્વર પોતે ઘેટું પૂરું પાડશે.” અને તેઓ આગળ ચાલ્યા.
9 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built there an altar, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar above the wood.
૯જે જગ્યા વિશે ઈશ્વરે તેમને કહ્યું હતું, ત્યાં તેઓ પહોંચ્યા ત્યારે ઇબ્રાહિમે ત્યાં વેદી બનાવી અને તેના પર લાકડાં ગોઠવ્યાં. પછી તેના દીકરા ઇસહાકને બાંધીને તેને વેદી પરનાં લાકડાં પર મૂક્યો.
10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.
૧૦ઇબ્રાહિમે તેના દીકરાને મારવાને માટે હાથમાં છરો લીધો.
11 But the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham; and he said, Here am I.
૧૧પછી તેણે છરો ઉગામ્યો એવામાં ઈશ્વરના દૂતે આકાશમાંથી તેને હાંક મારીને કહ્યું, “ઇબ્રાહિમ, ઇબ્રાહિમ!” અને તેણે કહ્યું, “બોલો, હું અહીં છું.”
12 And he said, Lay not thy hand upon the lad, neither do thou the least unto him; for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing that thou hast not withheld thy son, thy only one, from me.
૧૨દૂતે તેને કહ્યું, “તારા દીકરા પર તારો હાથ ઉગામીશ નહિ અને તેને કશી ઈજા કરીશ નહિ, કેમ કે મને ખાતરી થઈ છે કે તેં તારા એકનાએક દીકરાને, મારાથી પાછો રાખ્યો નથી. તું ઈશ્વરની બીક રાખે છે.”
13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold, there was a ram that was afterward caught in a thicket by his horns; and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt-offering in the stead of his son.
૧૩ઇબ્રાહિમે ઉપર જોયું અને ત્યાં એક ઘેટો જોયો. તેનાં શિંગડાં ઝાડીમાં ભરાયેલાં હતા. ઇબ્રાહિમે તેના દીકરાને બદલે એ ઘેટાંનું દહનીયાર્પણ કર્યું.
14 And Abraham called the name of that place, Adonai-yireh: as it is said to this day, On the mount of the Lord it shall be seen.
૧૪પછી તેણે દહનીયાર્પણની એ જગ્યાનું નામ “યહોવાહ-યિરેહ “પાડ્યું.” તે આજ સુધી એ નામે ઓળખાય છે તેનો અર્થ એ છે કે, “ઈશ્વરના પર્વત પર ઈશ્વર પૂરું પાડે છે.”
15 And the angel of the Lord called unto Abraham the second time out of heaven,
૧૫ઈશ્વરના દૂતે આકાશમાંથી ઇબ્રાહિમ સાથે ફરીથી વાત કરી,
16 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, since, because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thy only one:
૧૬અને કહ્યું કે, “આ ઈશ્વરની વાણી છે, “મેં પોતાના સમ ખાધા છે, તેં એ કામ કર્યું છે અને તારા એકનાએક દીકરાને તેં પાછો રાખ્યો નથી,
17 That I will greatly bless thee, and I will exceedingly multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the seashore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
૧૭તેથી નિશ્ચે હું તને આશીર્વાદ આપીશ અને આકાશના તારા તથા સમુદ્ર કિનારાની રેતી જેટલાં તારાં સંતાન વધારીશ; અને તારાં સંતાન તેમના શત્રુઓના નગરના પ્રવેશદ્વારને કબજે કરશે.
18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because that thou hast obeyed my voice.
૧૮તારા વંશજોથી પૃથ્વીના સર્વ લોક આશીર્વાદિત થશે, કેમ કે તેં મારું કહ્યું માન્યું છે.”
19 And Abraham returned unto his young men; and they rose up, and went together to Beer-sheba; and Abraham dwelt in Beer-sheba.
૧૯પછી ઇબ્રાહિમ તથા ઇસહાક પોતાના જુવાન ચાકરો પાસે પાછા આવ્યા, ત્યાંથી તેઓ બેરશેબા આવ્યા અને ત્યાં રહ્યા.
20 And it came to pass after these things, that it was told to Abraham, saying, Behold, Milcah, she also, hath born children unto Nachor thy brother;
૨૦પછી ઇબ્રાહિમને જણાવવામાં આવ્યું કે, “તારા ભાઈ નાહોરની પત્ની મિલ્કાએ દીકરાઓને જન્મ આપ્યો છે.”
21 'Uz his first born, and Buz his brother, and Kemuel the father of Aram,
૨૧તેઓનાં નામ આ પ્રમાણે છે: તેનો મોટો દીકરો ઉસ, તેનો ભાઈ બૂઝ, પછી કમુએલ અરામનો પિતા,
22 And Kesed, and Chazo, and Pildash, and Yidlaph, and Bethuel.
૨૨કેસેદ, હઝો, પિલ્દાશ, યિદલાફ અને બથુએલ.
23 And Bethuel begat Rebekah; these eight did Milcah bear to Nachor, Abraham's brother.
૨૩રિબકા બથુએલની દીકરી હતી. ઇબ્રાહિમના ભાઈ નાહોરને માટે મિલ્કાએ આ આઠ દીકરાઓને જન્મ આપ્યો હતો.
24 And his concubine, whose name was Reumah, she also bore Tebach, and Gacham, and Thachash, and Maachah.
૨૪બથુએલની ઉપપત્ની, રઉમાએ પણ ચાર બાળકો ટેબા, ગાહામ, તાહાશ તથા માકાને જન્મ આપ્યો.
