Genesis 21
1 And the Lord visited Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did unto Sarah as he had spoken.
RAB verdiği söz uyarınca Sara'ya iyilik etti ve sözünü yerine getirdi.
2 And Sarah conceived, and bore unto Abraham a son in his old age, at the appointed time of which God had spoken to him.
Sara hamile kaldı; İbrahim'in yaşlılık döneminde, tam Tanrı'nın belirttiği zamanda ona bir erkek çocuk doğurdu.
3 And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bore to him, Isaac.
İbrahim Sara'nın doğurduğu çocuğa İshak adını verdi.
4 And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac, at eight days old, as God had commanded him.
Tanrı'nın kendisine buyurduğu gibi oğlu İshak'ı sekiz günlükken sünnet etti.
5 And Abraham was a hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him.
İshak doğduğunda İbrahim yüz yaşındaydı.
6 And Sarah said, God hath made me joy, whoever heareth it will laugh concerning me.
Sara, “Tanrı yüzümü güldürdü” dedi, “Bunu duyan herkes benimle birlikte gülecek.
7 And she said, Who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarai should have given children suck? yet I have born a son in his old age.
Kim İbrahim'e Sara çocuk emzirecek derdi? Bu yaşında ona bir oğul doğurdum.”
8 And the child grew, and was weaned; and Abraham made a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned.
Çocuk büyüdü. Sütten kesildiği gün İbrahim büyük bir şölen verdi.
9 And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had born unto Abraham, mocking.
Ne var ki Sara, Mısırlı Hacer'in İbrahim'den olma oğlu İsmail'in alay ettiğini görünce,
10 Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bond-woman and her son; for the son of this bond-woman shall not be heir with my son, with Isaac.
İbrahim'e, “Bu cariyeyle oğlunu kov” dedi, “Bu cariyenin oğlu, oğlum İshak'ın mirasına ortak olmasın.”
11 And the thing was very grievous in Abraham's eyes, because of his son.
Bu İbrahim'i çok üzdü, çünkü İsmail de öz oğluydu.
12 And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy eyes because of the lad, and because of thy bond-woman; in all that Sarah may say unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.
Ancak Tanrı İbrahim'e, “Oğlunla cariyen için üzülme” dedi, “Sara ne derse, onu yap. Çünkü senin soyun İshak'la sürecektir.
13 And also of the son of the bond-woman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed.
Cariyenin oğlundan da bir ulus yaratacağım, çünkü o da senin soyun.”
14 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it onto her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away; and she departed, and wandered astray in the wilderness of Beer-sheba.
İbrahim sabah erkenden kalktı, biraz yiyecek, bir tulum da su hazırlayıp Hacer'in omuzuna attı, çocuğunu da verip onu gönderdi. Hacer Beer-Şeva Çölü'ne gitti, orada bir süre dolaştı.
15 And the water was spent from the bottle, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs.
Tulumdaki su tükenince, oğlunu bir çalının altına bıraktı.
16 And she went, and seated herself down at some distance, a good way off, about a bow-shot; for she said, I cannot look on when the child dieth; so she sat at a distance, and lifted up her voice, and wept.
Yaklaşık bir ok atımı uzaklaşıp, “Oğlumun ölümünü görmeyeyim” diyerek onun karşısına oturup hıçkıra hıçkıra ağladı.
17 And God heard the voice of the lad; and an angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? Fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad, there where he is.
Tanrı çocuğun sesini duydu. Tanrı'nın meleği göklerden Hacer'e, “Nen var, Hacer?” diye seslendi, “Korkma! Çünkü Tanrı çocuğun sesini duydu.
18 Arise, lift up the lad, and lay hold on him with thy hand; for I will make of him a great nation.
Kalk, oğlunu kaldır, elini tut. Onu büyük bir ulus yapacağım.”
19 And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water: and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink.
Sonra Tanrı Hacer'in gözlerini açtı, Hacer bir kuyu gördü. Gidip tulumunu doldurdu, oğluna içirdi.
20 And God was with the lad; and he grew up, and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer.
Çocuk büyürken Tanrı onunlaydı. Çocuk çölde yaşadı ve okçu oldu.
21 And he dwelt in the wilderness of Paran; and his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt.
Paran Çölü'nde yaşarken annesi ona Mısırlı bir kadın aldı.
22 And it came to pass at that time, that Abimelech, and Phichol the chief captain of his host, spoke unto Abraham, saying, God is with thee in all that thou doest:
O sırada Avimelek'le ordusunun komutanı Fikol İbrahim'e, “Yaptığın her şeyde Tanrı seninle” dediler,
23 Now therefore swear unto me here by God, that thou wilt not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son's son; [but] according to the kindness that I have done unto thee, shalt thou do unto me, and to the land wherein thou hast sojourned.
“Onun için, Tanrı'nın önünde bana, oğluma ve soyuma haksız davranmayacağına ant iç. Bana ve konuk olarak yaşadığın bu ülkeye, benim sana yaptığım gibi iyi davran.”
24 And Abraham said, I will swear.
İbrahim, “Ant içerim” dedi.
25 And Abraham reproved Abimelech because of a well of water, which Abimelech's servants had violently taken away.
İbrahim Avimelek'e bir kuyuyu zorla ele geçiren adamlarından yakındı.
26 And Abimelech said, I know not who hath done this thing: neither didst thou tell me; nor have I heard of it except this day.
Avimelek, “Bunu kimin yaptığını bilmiyorum” diye yanıtladı, “Sen de bana söylemedin, ilk kez duyuyorum.”
27 And Abraham took sheep and oxen, and gave them unto Abimelech; and both of them made a covenant.
Daha sonra İbrahim Avimelek'e davar ve sığır verdi. Böylece ikisi bir antlaşma yaptılar.
28 And Abraham set seven ewe-lambs of the flock, by themselves.
İbrahim sürüsünden yedi dişi kuzu ayırdı.
29 And Abimelech said unto Abraham; What mean these seven ewe-lambs which thou hast set by themselves?
Avimelek, “Bunun anlamı ne, niçin bu yedi dişi kuzuyu ayırdın?” diye sordu.
30 And he said, For these seven ewe-lambs shalt thou take from my hand, that they may be a witness unto me that I have dug this well.
İbrahim, “Bu yedi dişi kuzuyu benim elimden almalısın” diye yanıtladı, “Kuyuyu benim açtığımın kanıtı olsun.”
31 Wherefore he called that place Beer-sheba; because there they swore, both of them.
Bu yüzden oraya Beer-Şeva adı verildi. Çünkü ikisi orada ant içmişlerdi.
32 Thus they made a covenant at Beer-sheba; then Abimelech rose up, and Phichol the chief captain of his host, and they returned into the land of the Philistines.
Beer-Şeva'da yapılan bu antlaşmadan sonra Avimelek, ordusunun komutanı Fikol'la birlikte Filist yöresine geri döndü.
33 And Abraham planted an orchard in Beer-sheba, and called there on the name of the Lord, the God of everlasting.
İbrahim Beer-Şeva'da bir ılgın ağacı dikti; orada RAB'bi, ölümsüz Tanrı'yı adıyla çağırdı.
34 And Abraham sojourned in the land of the Philistines many days.
Filist yöresinde konuk olarak uzun süre yaşadı.
