Genesis 17
1 And when Abram was ninety and nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God: walk before me, and be thou perfect.
Abram war 99 Jahre alt; da erschien der Herr dem Abram und sprach zu ihm: "Ich bin ein mächtiger Gott. Vor mir nur wandle! Alsdann fehlt dir nichts.
2 And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and I will multiply thee exceedingly.
Ich schließe zwischen mir und dir den Bund und will dich mächtig mehren."
3 And Abram fell on his face, and God spoke with him, saying,
Da fiel Abram auf sein Antlitz, und Gott redete mit ihm also:
4 As for me, behold my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt become the father of a multitude of nations.
"Das ist mein Bund mit dir: Stammvater einer Völkermenge wirst du jetzt.
5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for the father of a multitude of nations have I made thee.
Drum sollst du fortan nimmer Abram heißen. Nein, Abraham ist jetzt dein Name; zu einer Völkermenge Vater mache ich dich ja.
6 And I will make thee exceedingly fruitful, and I will cause thee to become nations; and kings shall come out of thee.
Ich lasse dich gar zahlreich werden und mache dich zu Völkern, und Könige entsprießen dir.
7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and between thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant: to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.
Und zwischen mir und dir errichte ich den Bund und zwischen mir und deinem Stamm nach dir, ja, einen ewigen Bund für alle die Geschlechter, daß ich dir Schutzgott sei und deinem Stamm nach dir.
8 And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou sojournest, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.
Ich gebe dir und deinem Stamm nach dir den Boden deiner Pilgerfahrten, das ganze Land von Kanaan, zu ewigem Besitze; ein Schutzgott will ich ihnen sein."
9 And God said unto Abraham, But thou, for thy part, shalt keep my covenant, thou and thy seed after thee, in their generations.
Und Gott sprach zu Abraham: "Du aber halte meinen Bund, du und dein Stamm nach dir, in allen den Geschlechtern!
10 This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and between you, and between thy seed after thee: Every man-child among you shall be circumcised.
Das ist mein Bund, den ihr einhalten sollt, der zwischen mir und euch und deinem Stamm nach dir besteht: Bei euch soll alles Männliche beschnitten werden!
11 And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and this shall serve as the token of the covenant between me and you.
Und zwar sollt ihr an eurer Vorhaut Fleisch beschnitten sein! Dies ist das Bundeszeichen zwischen mir und euch.
12 And at eight days old shall every man-child in your generations be circumcised among you, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, who is not of thy seed.
Bei euch soll mit acht Tagen alles Männliche beschnitten werden, Geschlecht für Geschlecht, auch selbst der Haussklave und der von irgendeinem Fremden Angekaufte, der nimmer deines Stammes ist.
13 He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised; and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.
Beschnitten werde dein Haussklave und der von dir mit Geld Erkaufte! So sei mein Bund an eurem Fleisch zum ewigen Bunde!
14 And any uncircumcised male, who circumciseth not the flesh of his foreskin, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.
Doch wer gesund und dennoch unbeschnitten ist, wer nicht an seiner Vorhaut Fleisch beschnitten, ein solches Wesen wird aus seinem Volke ausgestrichen. Zerrissen hat es meinen Bund."
15 And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be.
Und Gott sprach zu Abraham: "Du sollst dein Weib Sarai nicht länger Sarai nennen! Nein! Sara soll ihr Name sein!
16 And I will bless her, and give thee also a son of her; yea I will bless her, and she shall become a mother of nations; kings of people shall spring from her.
Ich segne sie und schenke dir durch sie noch einen Sohn. Ich segne sie; dann wird sie eine Völkermutter, und Völkerkönige entsprießen ihr."
17 Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed; and he said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is a hundred years old? and shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear?
Da fiel Abraham auf sein Antlitz, lachte und sprach bei sich: "Sollte einem Hundertjährigen noch ein Kind geboren werden, oder sollte Sara, die neunzigjährige, noch gebären können?"
18 And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee!
Und Abraham sprach zu Gott: "Möchte nur Ismael auf dein Geheiß am Leben bleiben!"
19 And God said, Truly, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son; and thou shalt call his name Isaac; and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, for his seed after him.
Da sprach Gott: "Trotzdem wird Sara, dies dein Weib, dir einen Sohn gebären; den sollst du Isaak heißen! Mit ihm errichte ich dann meinen Bund zum ewigen Bund für seinen Stamm nach ihm.
20 And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make of him a great nation.
Auch Ismaels wegen will ich dich erhören; ich segne ihn und lasse Frucht ihn tragen und mehre ihn gar mächtiglich. Zwölf Fürsten wird er zeugen, und also mache ich auch ihn zu einem großen Volke.
21 But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.
Doch meinen Bund will ich mit Isaak schließen, den dir um diese Zeit im künftigen Jahre Sara schenkt."
22 And when he had left off talking with him, God went up from Abraham.
Und er beendete seine Unterredung mit ihm. Und Gott fuhr vor Abraham auf.
23 And Abraham now took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham's house; and he circumcised the flesh of their foreskin on the selfsame day, as God had spoken unto him.
Da nahm Abraham seinen Sohn Ismael und alle seine Haussklaven, sowie alle mit Geld von ihm Erkauften, jedes Männliche unter den Leuten in Abrahams Haus, und beschnitt das Fleisch ihrer Vorhaut an eben diesem Tage, gleich nachdem Gott mit ihm gesprochen hatte.
24 And Abraham was ninety and nine years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
Abraham aber war 99 Jahre alt, als er am Fleische seiner Vorhaut beschnitten ward.
25 And Ishmael his son, was thirteen years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
Und 13 Jahre alt war sein Sohn Ismael, als er am Fleische seiner Vorhaut beschnitten ward.
26 On the self-same day was Abraham circumcised, with Ishmael his son.
Am gleichen Tage war Abraham beschnitten worden wie sein Sohn Ismael.
27 And all the men of his house, born in the house, and bought with money of the stranger, were circumcised with him.
Und alle seine Hausgenossen, sowohl die Haussklaven als auch die mit Geld von Fremden Gekauften, waren mit ihm beschnitten worden.
