Genesis 16
1 Now Sarai, Abram's wife, bore him no children; and she had an Egyptian handmaid, whose name was Hagar.
USarayi umkaAbrama wayengamzaleli-ke abantwana; wayelencekukazi umGibhithekazi, lebizo layo linguHagari.
2 And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, the Lord hath restrained me from bearing: go in, I pray thee, unto my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai.
USarayi wasesithi kuAbrama: Khangela-ke, iNkosi ingivalile ukuze ngingazali; ake ungene encekukazini yami, mhlawumbe ngingakhiwa ngayo. UAbrama waselalela ilizwi likaSarayi.
3 And Sarai, Abram's wife, took Hagar, the Egyptian, her maid, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife.
Ngakho uSarayi umkaAbrama wamthatha uHagari umGibhithe, incekukazi yakhe, ekupheleni kweminyaka elitshumi uAbrama esehlale elizweni leKhanani, wasemnika uAbrama indoda yakhe ukuthi abe ngumkakhe.
4 And he went in unto Hagar, and she conceived; and when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress became of little esteem in her eyes.
Wasengena kuHagari, wasethatha isisu. Esebonile ukuthi uzithwele, inkosikazi yakhe yasideleleka emehlweni akhe.
5 And Sarai said unto Abram, I suffer wrong through thee; I have placed my maid into thy bosom; and when she saw that she had conceived, I became of little esteem in her eyes; may the Lord judge between me and thee.
USarayi wasesithi kuAbrama: Ububi bami buphezu kwakho. Mina nginike incekukazi yami esifubeni sakho, ithe isibonile ukuthi izithwele, ngiyadeleleka emehlweni ayo. INkosi kayahlulele phakathi kwami lawe.
6 But Abram said unto Sarai, Behold, thy maid is in thy hand; do to her as it pleaseth thee. And when Sarai dealt hardly with her, she fled from her face.
UAbrama wasesithi kuSarayi: Khangela, incekukazi yakho isesandleni sakho. Yenza kuyo lokho okuhle emehlweni akho. USarayi waseyiphatha kubi, yasibaleka ebusweni bakhe.
7 And an angel of the Lord found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain on the way to Shur.
Ingilosi yeNkosi yasiyifica emthonjeni wamanzi enkangala, emthonjeni endleleni eya eShuri.
8 And he said, Hagar, Sarai's maid, whence camest thou? and whither wilt thou go? And she said, From the face of my mistress Sarai I am fleeing.
Yasisithi: Hagari, ncekukazi kaSarayi, uvela ngaphi, uya ngaphi? Yasisithi: Ngibalekela ubuso bukaSarayi inkosikazi yami.
9 And the angel of the Lord said unto her, Return to thy mistress, and submit thyself under her hands.
Ingilosi yeNkosi yasisithi kuyo: Buyela enkosikazini yakho, ubusuzehlisela ngaphansi kwezandla zayo.
10 And the angel of the Lord said unto her, I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude.
Ingilosi yeNkosi yathi kuyo futhi: Ngizakwandisa kakhulu inzalo yakho ukuze ingabalwa ngenxa yobunengi.
11 And the angel of the Lord said unto her, Behold, thou art with child, and wilt bear a son, and thou shalt call his name Ishmael; because the Lord hath heard thy affliction.
Ingilosi yeNkosi yasisithi kuyo: Khangela, uzithwele, futhi uzazala indodana, njalo uzayitha ibizo layo uthi nguIshmayeli, ngoba iNkosi izwile ukuhlupheka kwakho.
12 And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and in the presence of all his brethren shall he dwell.
Yona-ke izakuba ngumuntu ongubabhemi ongathambanga, isandla sayo simelane labo bonke, lesandla sabo bonke simelane layo; izahlala phambi kobuso babafowabo bonke.
13 And she called the name of the Lord that spoke unto her, Thou art an all-seeing God; for she said, Have I not also seen here a vision after he appeared to me?
Waseyitha iNkosi eyakhuluma laye ibizo lokuthi: Wena Nkulunkulu wokubona. Ngoba wathi: Lapha lami ngimkhangele yini ongibonayo?
14 Wherefore the well was called Beerlachai-roi: behold, it is between Kadesh and Bared.
Ngakho umthombo wabizwa ngokuthi iBeri-Lahayi-Royi; khangela, uphakathi kweKadeshi leBeredi.
15 And Hagar bore Abram a son; and Abram called the name of his son, whom Hagar bore, Ishmael.
UHagari wasemzalela uAbrama indodana; uAbrama wasesitha ibizo lendodana yakhe, uHagari ayizalayo, wathi nguIshmayeli.
16 And Abram was eighty and six years old, when Hagar bore Ishmael to Abram.
Njalo uAbrama wayeleminyaka engamatshumi ayisificaminwembili lesithupha mhla uHagari emzalela uAbrama uIshmayeli.
