< Ezekiel 1 >
1 And it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I was in the midst of the exiles by the river Kebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw divine visions.
Ko eni, ʻi heʻene hoko ki hono tolungofulu ʻoe taʻu, mo hono fā ʻoe māhina, pea ʻi hono nima ʻoe ʻaho ʻoe māhina ʻo ʻeku ʻi he kakai pōpula ʻi he veʻe vaitafe ʻo Kipa, naʻe fakaava ʻae ngaahi langi pea naʻaku mamata ki he ngaahi meʻa hā mai mei he ʻOtua.
2 On the fifth day of the month, which was the fifth year of the exile of king Jehoyachin,
ʻI hono nima ʻoe ʻaho ʻoe māhina ʻi hono nima taʻu ʻoe fakapōpulaʻi ʻae tuʻi ko Sihoiakimi.
3 Came the word of the Lord expressly unto Ezekiel the son of Buzi, the priest, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Kebar; and there came upon him there the inspiration of the Lord.
Naʻe hoko totonu mai ʻae folofola ʻa Sihova kia ʻIsikieli ko e taulaʻeiki, ko e foha ʻo Posi, ʻi he fonua, ʻoe kau Kalitia, ʻi he potu vaitafe ko Kipa; pea naʻe ʻiate ia ʻae nima ʻo Sihova ʻi ai.
4 And I saw, and behold, a storm-wind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a flaming fire, and a brightness was on it round about; and out of the midst of it was like the glitter of amber, out of the midst of the fire.
Pea naʻaku sio, pea vakai, naʻe haʻu ʻae ʻahiohio mei he tokelau ko e fuʻu ʻao lahi, mo e afi naʻe femamioʻaki, pea naʻe takatakai ia ʻe he maama, pea kikila mai mei hono potu ʻi loto ʻo hangē ko e ʻamipa, mei he loto afi.
5 And out of the midst thereof [I saw] the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: They had the likeness of a man.
Pea naʻe haʻu foki mei he loto meʻa ʻae tatau ʻoe meʻa moʻui ʻe fā. Pea ko e anga eni ʻo ʻenau hā mai. Naʻa nau mata tatau mo e tangata.
6 And every one had four faces, and every one of them had four wings.
Pea naʻa nau taki taha ʻae mata ʻe fā, pea nau taki taha ʻae kapakau ʻe fā.
7 And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot: and they sparkled like the glitter of burnished copper.
Pea ko honau vaʻe ko e vaʻe totonu: pea tatau ʻa honau ʻaofivaʻe mo e ʻaofivaʻe ʻoe ʻuhikiʻi pulu: pea naʻe ulo ʻo hangē ko e ulo ʻoe palasa kuo fakangingila.
8 And hands of man [were visible] from beneath their wings on their four sides: and their faces and their wings [were alike] on all these four.
Pea naʻa nau nima ʻo hangē ko e tangata ʻi honau lalo kapakau ʻi honau potu ʻe fā; pea naʻe ʻi honau potu ʻe fā ʻae mata mo e kapakau.
9 Their wings were joined one to the other: they turned not about in their going; they went every one in the direction of one of their faces.
Naʻe feuutaki honau kapakau; pea naʻe ʻikai fetafokiʻaki ʻenau ʻalu; ka naʻe taki taha ʻalu fakahangatonu atu.
10 And the likeness of their faces was the face of a man; and the face of a lion, on the right side for all four of them; and the face of an ox on the left side for all four of them; and the face of an eagle for all four of them.
Pea ko e meʻa ki honau mata, naʻe maʻu ʻe he toko fā ni ʻae mata ʻoe tangata, mo e mata ʻoe laione ki he toʻomataʻu: pea maʻu ʻe he toko fā ni ʻae mata ʻoe pulu ki he toʻohema, pea maʻu foki ʻe he toko fā ni ʻae mata ʻoe ʻikale.
11 Thus were their faces: and their wings were spread out upward; every one had two joined one to another, and two covered their bodies.
12 And they went every one in the direction of one of his faces: whither the spirit was directed to go, they went; they turned not about in their going.
Pea naʻe taki taha ʻalu fakahangatonu atu pe: ko ia ne ʻalu ki ai ʻae laumālie, ko ia ia naʻa nau ʻalu ki ai, pea naʻe ʻikai te nau tafoki ʻi heʻenau ʻalu.
13 As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like coals of fire, burning as with the appearance of torches; this [fire] it was which passed along between the living creatures: and a brightness was about the fire, and out of the fire went forth lightning.
Pea ko e tatau ʻoe meʻa moʻui ʻe fā, naʻe hangē ko e ulo ʻae fefie ʻi he afi, pea ko e ulo ʻae tuʻunga maama naʻe ʻalu hake ia mo ʻalu hifo ʻi he haʻohaʻonga ʻoe ngaahi meʻa moʻui; pea naʻe ulo lahi ʻae afi pea ʻasi mai ʻae ʻuhila mei he afi.
14 And the living creatures ran backward and forward like the appearance of a flash of lightning.
Pea naʻe lele mo toe foki mai ʻae ngaahi meʻa moʻui ʻo hangē ko e ulo ʻoe ʻuhila.
15 And I looked on the living creatures, and, behold, there was one wheel upon the earth close by the living creatures, by their four front faces.
Pea ko eni, lolotonga ʻeku sio ki he ngaahi meʻa moʻui, vakai, ko e teka ʻe taha naʻe tuʻu ki he kelekele ʻi he tafaʻaki ʻoe ngaahi meʻa moʻui, pea mo hono mata ʻe fā.
16 The appearance of the wheels and their work was like the color of a chrysolite; and all four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was as though it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel.
Pea ko e anga ʻoe ngaahi teka mo hono ngaohi naʻe hangē ko e lanu ʻoe pelili: pea naʻe tatau ʻae meʻa ni ʻe fā: pea naʻe hā mai hono ngaohi naʻe hangē kuo ʻai ʻae teka ʻe taha ʻi he loto teka ʻe taha.
17 Toward their four sides they went in their going: they turned not round in their going.
ʻI heʻenau ʻalu naʻa nau ʻalu ʻi honau tafaʻaki ʻe fā: pea naʻe ʻikai ke tafoki ʻi heʻenau ʻalu.
18 As for their circumferences, they were so high that they excited fear: and their felloes were full of eyes round about on all these four.
Pea ko honau ngaahi meʻa tākai naʻe fakaʻulia ko e meʻa ʻi hono māʻolunga lahi; pea naʻe pito ʻa honau meʻa tākai ʻi he mata ʻo takatakai ʻi he meʻa ni ʻe fā.
19 And when the living creatures went, the wheels went near to them: and when the living creatures lifted themselves up from the earth, the wheels lifted themselves up.
ʻI heʻene ʻalu ʻae ngaahi meʻa moʻui, naʻe ʻalu ai pe mo e ngaahi teka, pea ka hiki hake ʻae ngaahi meʻa moʻui mei he kelekele, naʻe hiki ai pe mo e ngaahi teka.
20 Whithersoever the spirit was to go, they went; [for] thither was [their] spirit to go: and the wheels lifted themselves up at the same time with them; for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.
Ko e potu kotoa pē naʻe ʻalu ki ai ʻae laumālie, naʻa nau ʻalu ai, ko ia ia ʻe ʻalu ki ai honau laumālie; pea naʻe hiki hake ʻo fakahangatonu mai ʻae ngaahi teka kiate kinautolu: he ko e laumālie ʻoe meʻa moʻui naʻe ʻi he ngaahi teka.
21 When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those lifted themselves up from the earth, the wheels lifted themselves up at the same time with them; for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.
ʻI heʻene ʻalu ʻena, naʻe ʻalu eni; pea ʻi heʻene tuʻumaʻu ʻena, naʻe tuʻu eni; pea ʻi heʻene hiki hake ʻena mei he kelekele, naʻe hiki hake ai ʻae ngaahi teka ʻo fakahangatonu mai kiate kinautolu: he naʻe ʻi he ngaahi teka ʻae laumālie ʻoe meʻa moʻui.
22 And the likeness of a vault was over the head of the living creatures, [shining] like the glitter of the purest crystal, stretched forth over their heads above.
Pea naʻe tatau hono fakamalumalu mei ʻolunga ʻi he ngaahi meʻa moʻui, mo e lanu ʻoe kalisitala fakamanavahē, ʻoku mafola atu ki ʻolunga ʻi honau ʻulu.
23 And under the vault their wings were straight, the one toward the other: every one had two, which covered them, and every one had two, which covered them, —[namely, ] their bodies.
Pea naʻe mafola totonu hake ʻi lalo ʻi hono fakamalumalu ʻa honau kapakau, pea ne fepikitaki ia: naʻe taki taha honau kapakau ʻe ua naʻe ʻufiʻufi ʻaki honau sino ʻi he tafaʻaki ko eni, pea mo e ua naʻe ʻufiʻufi ʻaki mei hena.
24 And I heard the sound of their wings, like the sound of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty, when they went, the sound of [their] speech, as the noise of an army: when they stood still, they let down their wings.
Pea ʻi heʻenau ʻalu naʻaku fanongo ki he longoaʻa ʻo honau kapakau, naʻe hangē ko e ʻuʻulu ʻoe ngaahi vai lahi, hangē ko e leʻo ʻoe māfimafi, mo e ongo mai ʻae lea, mo e longoaʻa ʻo ha fuʻu tokolahi: pea ʻi heʻenau tuʻu naʻa nau fāū honau kapakau.
25 And there was a voice from the vault that was over their head: when they stood still, they let down their wings.
Pea ʻi heʻenau tuʻu mo fāū honau kapakau naʻe ongo mai ʻae leʻo mei he langi, ki ʻolunga ʻi honau ʻulu.
26 And above the vault that was over their head was like the appearance of a sapphire-stone, the likeness of a throne: and upon the likeness of the throne was a likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.
Pea naʻe hā mai ʻae tatau ʻoe nofoʻa fakatuʻi mei ʻolunga ʻi he potu langi naʻe feangai hifo mo honau ʻulu, pea naʻe hangē ia ko e maka ko e safaia, pea hā mai mei he tatau ʻoe nofoʻa fakatuʻi ʻae mata ʻo hangē ko e hā mai ʻo ha tangata mei ʻolunga ʻi ai.
27 And I saw as if it were the glitter of amber, as the appearance of fire within it round about, from the appearance of his loins upward; and from the appearance of his loins downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about.
28 Like the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud on the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about: this was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard the voice of one that spoke.
ʻO hangē ko e ʻūmata ʻoku ʻi he ʻao ʻi he ʻaho ʻoe ʻuha, naʻe pehē ʻae ulo takatakai ʻi ai. Ko e hā mai eni ʻae tatau ʻoe nāunau ʻo Sihova. Pea ʻi heʻeku mamata ki ai, naʻaku tōmapeʻe ki hoku mata, pea naʻaku fanongo ki he leʻo ʻo ha taha naʻe lea mai.
