Ezekiel 35
1 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
E la parola dell’Eterno mi fu rivolta in questi termini:
2 Son of man, set thy face against the mountain of Se'ir, and prophecy against it,
“Figliuol d’uomo, volgi la tua faccia verso il monte di Seir, e profetizza contro di esso,
3 And say unto it, Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Behold, I will be against thee, O mountain of Se'ir, and I will stretch out my hand over thee, and I will render thee desolate and wasted.
e digli: Così parla il Signore, l’Eterno: Eccomi a te, o monte di Seir! Io stenderò la mia mano contro di te, e ti renderò una solitudine, un deserto.
4 Thy cities will I lay in ruins, and thou thyself shalt be desolate, and thou shalt know that I am the Lord.
Io ridurrò le tue città in rovine, tu diventerai una solitudine, e conoscerai che io sono l’Eterno.
5 Because thou hast had an undying hatred, and didst surrender the children of Israel to the power of the sword, at the time of their calamity, at the time of the iniquity of the end:
Poiché tu hai avuto una inimicizia eterna e hai abbandonato i figliuoli d’Israele in balìa della spada nel giorno della loro calamità, nel giorno che l’iniquità era giunta al colmo,
6 Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord Eternal, I will surely let thy blood flow, and blood shall pursue thee; since thou didst not hate blood-shedding, so shall blood pursue thee.
com’è vero ch’io vivo, dice il Signore, l’Eterno, io ti metterò a sangue, e il sangue t’inseguirà; giacché non hai avuto in odio il sangue, il sangue t’inseguirà.
7 Thus will I change the mountain of Se'ir into a desolate land and a waste, and I will cut off from it him that travelleth forward and backward.
E ridurrò il monte di Seir in una solitudine, in un deserto, e ne sterminerò chi va e chi viene.
8 And I will fill his mountains with his slain: as regardeth thy hills, and thy valleys, and all thy ravines, in them shall fall those that are slain by the sword.
Io riempirò i suoi monti dei suoi uccisi; sopra i tuoi colli, nelle tue valli, in tutti i tuoi burroni cadranno gli uccisi dalla spada.
9 Into perpetual desolations will I change thee, and thy cities shall not be restored: and ye shall know that I am the Lord.
Io ti ridurrò in una desolazione perpetua, e le tue città non saranno più abitate; e voi conoscerete che io sono l’Eterno.
10 Because thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries shall indeed be mine, and we will take possession thereof; whereas the Lord was there:
Siccome tu hai detto: Quelle due nazioni e que’ due paesi saranno miei, e noi ne prenderemo possesso (e l’Eterno era quivi!),
11 Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord God, I will even do according to thy anger, and according to thy envy which thou didst use out of thy hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I judge thee.
com’è vero ch’io vivo, dice il Signore, l’Eterno, io agirò con l’ira e con la gelosia, che tu hai mostrate nel tuo odio contro di loro; e mi farò conoscere in mezzo a loro, quando ti giudicherò.
12 And thou shalt know that I am the Lord: I have heard all thy blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given unto us to consume them.
Tu conoscerai che io, l’Eterno, ho udito tutti gli oltraggi che hai proferiti contro i monti d’Israele, dicendo: Essi son desolati; son dati a noi, perché ne facciam nostra preda.
13 And ye boasted greatly against me with your mouth, and have multiplied against me your words: I have indeed heard them.
Voi, con la vostra bocca, vi siete inorgogliti contro di me, e avete moltiplicato contro di me i vostri discorsi. Io l’ho udito!
14 Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, When the whole earth rejoiceth, I will make thee desolate.
Così parla il Signore, l’Eterno: Quando tutta la terra si rallegrerà, io ti ridurrò in una desolazione.
15 As thou didst rejoice over the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was made desolate: so will I do unto thee; desolate shalt thou be, O mountain of Se'ir, and all Idumea—altogether; and they shall know that I am the Lord.
Siccome tu ti sei rallegrato perché l’eredità della casa d’Israele era devastata, io farò lo stesso di te: tu diventerai una desolazione, o monte di Seir: tu, e Edom tutto quanto; e si conoscerà che io sono l’Eterno.
