Ezekiel 21
1 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
主の言葉がわたしに臨んだ、
2 Son of man, direct thy face toward Jerusalem, and preach toward the holy places, and prophesy against the land of Israel,
「人の子よ、あなたの顔をエルサレムに向け、あなたの言葉を聖所に向けてのべ、イスラエルの地に向かって預言し、
3 And say to the land of Israel, Thus hath said the Lord, Behold, I will be against thee, and will draw forth my sword out of its sheath; and I will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked.
イスラエルの地に言え。主はこう言われる、見よ、わたしはあなたを攻め、わたしのつるぎをさやから抜き、あなたのうちから、正しい者も悪しき者をも断ってしまう。
4 But because I shall have cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked: therefore shall my sword go forth out of its sheath against all flesh from the south to the north;
わたしがあなたのうちから、正しい者も悪しき者をも断つゆえに、わたしのつるぎはさやから抜け出て、南から北までのすべての肉なる者を攻める。
5 That all flesh may know that I the Lord have drawn forth my sword out of its sheath; it shall not return any more.
すべて肉なる者は、主なるわたしが、そのつるぎをさやから抜き放ったことを知る。このつるぎは再びさやに納められない。
6 But thou, son of man, do thou sigh: as though with broken loins, and with bitterness [of grief] shalt thou sigh before their eyes.
それゆえ、人の子よ、嘆け、心砕けるまでに嘆き、彼らの目の前でいたく嘆け。
7 And it shall be, when they say unto thee, Wherefore sighest thou? that thou shalt say, For the report, because it cometh, when every heart shall melt, and all hands shall be made feeble, and every spirit shall become faint, and all knees shall be changed into water: behold, it cometh, and shall be brought to pass, saith the Lord Eternal.
人があなたに向かって、『なぜ嘆くのか』と言うなら、『この知らせのためである。それが来れば人の心はみな溶け、手はみななえ、霊はみな弱り、ひざはみな水のようになる。見よ、それは来る、必ず成就する』と言え」と主なる神は言われる。
8 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
主の言葉がわたしに臨んだ、
9 Son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus hath said the Lord, Say, The sword, the sword is sharpened, and also polished;
「人の子よ、預言して言え、主はこう言われる、つるぎがある、とぎ、かつ、みがいたつるぎがある。
10 In order to make a thorough slaughter is it sharpened; in order that it may glitter is it polished: how can we now rejoice, [when] the rod which reacheth my son excelleth in hardness every tree?
殺すためにといであり、いなずまのようにきらめくためにみがいてある。わたしたちは喜ぶことができるか。わが子よ、あなたはつえと、すべて木で作ったものとを軽んじた。
11 And he hath given it to be polished, to make it fit to grasp it in the hand: it is the sword which is sharpened, and it is polished, to place it into the hand of the slayer.
このつるぎは手にとるために、とがれ、殺す者の手に渡すために、とがれみがかれるのである。
12 Cry aloud and wail, O son of man; for it cometh against my people, it cometh against all the princes of Israel; brought together for the sword are they with my people: therefore strike [thy hand] upon thy thigh.
人の子よ、叫び嘆け、このことはわが民に臨み、イスラエルのすべての君たちに臨むからである。彼らはわが民と共につるぎにわたされる。それゆえ、あなたのももを打て。
13 For a purification taketh place: and what if the irresistible rod will also come? [my son] would not be able to exist, saith the Lord Eternal.
これはためしにすることではない。もしあなたが、つえをあざけったら、どういうことになろうか」と主なる神は言われる。
14 But thou, son of man, prophesy, and strike thy hands together, and let “The sword” be repeated the third time, the sword of the slain: it is the sword of the great that are slain, which lieth in wait for them everywhere.
「それゆえ、人の子よ、あなたは預言し、手を打ちならせ。つるぎを二度も三度も臨ませよ。これは人を殺すつるぎ、大いに殺すつるぎであって、彼らを囲むものである。
15 In order to make timid the heart, and to multiply the stumbling-blocks, do I bring the howling of the sword against all their gates: ah! it is made bright, it is made thin-edged for the slaughter.
これがために彼らの心は溶け、多くの者がすべての門に倒れる。わたしはひらめくつるぎを彼らに送る。ああ、これはいなずまのようになり、人を殺すためにみがかれている。
16 Gather up thy strength, go to the right hand, direct thyself, go to the left, whithersoever thy edge is turned.
あなたの刃の向かうところで、右に左になぎ倒せ。
17 And I also, —I will strike my hands together, and I will cause my fury to be assuaged: I the Lord have spoken it.
わたしもまた、わたしの手を打ちならし、わたしの怒りをしずめると、主なるわたしは言った」。
18 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
主の言葉がまたわたしに臨んだ、
19 But thou, O son of man, appoint thee two ways, that the sword of the king of Babylon may come; out of one land shall both of them come forth: and select a place; at the head of the way to a city do thou select it.
「人の子よ、バビロンの王のつるぎが来るために、二つの道を備えよ。この二つの道は一つの国から出ている。あなたは道しるべを作り、これを町に向かう道のはじめに置け。
20 A way shalt thou appoint, that the sword may come against Rabbah of the children of 'Ammon, and [the other] against Judah [dwelling] in Jerusalem the fortified.
あなたはまたアンモンの人々のラバと、ユダと、堅固な城の町エルサレムとにつるぎの来る道を設けよ。
21 For the king of Babylon hath halted at the parting of the way, at the commencement of the two ways, to use divination: he shaketh the arrows, he consulteth with images, he looketh at the liver.
バビロンの王は道の分れ目、二つの道のはじめに立って占いをし、矢をふり、テラピムに問い、肝を見る。
22 At his right hand was the divination for Jerusalem, to erect battering-rams, to open the mouth with the [cry for] murder, to lift up the voice with shouting, to place battering-rams against the gates, to cast up a mound, and to build works of attack.
彼の右にエルサレムのために占いが出る。すなわち口を開いて叫び、声をあげ、ときを作り、門に向かって城くずしを設け、塁を築き、雲悌を建てよと言う。
23 And it will appear unto them as a false divination in their eyes, to those that had sworn oaths; but he will bring to remembrance their iniquity, that they may be caught.
しかしこれは彼らの目には偽りの占いと思われ、彼らは堅き誓いをなした。しかし彼は、彼らを捕えることによって、罪を思い出させる。
24 Therefore thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Because ye have brought your iniquity to remembrance, as your transgressions are discovered, so that your sins do appear in all your doings: because ye are thus brought to remembrance, ye shall be caught by [his] hand.
それゆえ、主なる神はこう言われる、あなたがたの罪は覚えられ、その反逆は現れ、その罪はすべてのわざに現れる。このようにあなたがたは、すでに覚えられているから、彼らの手に捕えられる。
25 And thou, death-deserving wicked one, prince of Israel, whose day is come, at the time of the iniquity of the end, —
汚れた悪人であるイスラエルの君よ、あなたの終りの刑罰の時であるその日が来る。
26 Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Remove the mitre, and take off the crown: this shall not be always so; exalt him that is low, and make him low that is high.
主なる神はこう言われる、かぶり物を脱ぎ、冠を取り離せ。すべてのものは、そのままには残らない。卑しい者は高くされ、高い者は卑しくされる。
27 Overthrown, overthrown, overthrown will I render it: also this shall not belong [to any one], until he come whose right it is, and I will give it him.
ああ破滅、破滅、破滅、わたしはこれをこさせる。わたしが与える権威をもつ者が来る時まで、その跡形さえも残らない。
28 And thou, son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus hath said the Lord Eternal concerning the children of 'Ammon, and concerning their reproach: even say thou, The sword, the sword is drawn; for the slaughter is it polished, to destroy, that it may continue to glitter;
人の子よ、預言して言え。主なる神はアンモンの人々と、そのあざけりについて、こう言われる、つるぎがある。このつるぎは殺すために抜かれ、いなずまのようにひかりきらめくようにとがれている。
29 While they foresee unto thee falsehood, while they divine unto thee lies, to lay thee by the necks of the slain wicked, whose day is come, at the time of the iniquity of the end.
彼らがあなたに偽りの幻を示し、偽りを占ったゆえ、これは殺さるべき悪しき者の首の上に置かれる。彼らの終りの刑罰の時であるその日がきている。
30 Put back [the sword] into its sheath! in the place where thou wast created, in the land of thy origin, will I judge thee.
これをさやに納めよ、わたしはあなたの造られた所、あなたの生れた地であなたをさばく。
31 And I will pour out over thee my indignation, with the fire of my wrath will I blow against thee, and I will give thee up into the hand of brutish men, skilful in destroying.
わたしの怒りをあなたに注ぎ、わたしの憤りの火をあなたに向けて燃やし、滅ぼすことに巧みな残忍な人の手にあなたを渡す。
32 To the fire shalt thou be given to be devoured; thy blood shall be in the midst of the land: thou shalt not be remembered [any more]; for I the Lord have spoken it.
あなたは火のための、たきぎとなり、あなたの血は国の中に流され、覚えられることはない、主なるわたしが言う」。
