< Ezekiel 17 >
1 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
Ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa tọ̀ ní wá wí pé:
2 Son of man, put forth a riddle, and propound a parable unto the house of Israel;
“Ọmọ ènìyàn pa àlọ́ kan, sì pa òwe kan fún ilé Israẹli.
3 And say, Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, The great eagle with large wings, long winged, full of feathers, who is rich in many colors, came unto the Lebanon, and took the highest branch of the cedar:
Sọ fún wọn pé, ‘Báyìí ni Olúwa Olódùmarè wí, idì ńlá kan tó ní apá títóbi àti ìyẹ́ gígùn tó kún fún àwọ̀ oríṣìíríṣìí wa si Lebanoni, ó sì mu ẹ̀ka igi kedari tó ga jùlọ,
4 The topmost of its young twigs did he crop off, and carry it into the traders' land; and he set it in a city of merchants.
ó gé ọ̀mùnú orí ẹ̀ka yìí kúrò, ó mú un lọ sí ilẹ̀ oníṣòwò, ó sì gbìn ín sí ìlú àwọn oníṣòwò.
5 And he took some of the seed of the land, and planted it in a fruitful field: he placed it by great waters, he transplanted it among the willow-trees.
“‘Ó mú lára irúgbìn ilẹ̀ náà, ó gbìn ín sí ilẹ̀ ọlọ́ràá, lẹ́gbẹ̀ẹ́ ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ omi, ó gbìn ín bí igi wílóò.
6 And it grew, and became a trailing vine of low stature, the tendrils of which should turn toward him, and the roots of which should be under him: so it became a vine, and brought forth branches, and sent out shoots.
Ó dàgbà, ó sì di àjàrà tó kúrú ṣùgbọ́n to bolẹ̀. Àwọn ẹ̀ka rẹ̀ kọjú sí i, gbòǹgbò rẹ̀ sì dúró lábẹ́ rẹ̀, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ó di àjàrà, ó sì mu ẹ̀ka àti ewé jáde.
7 There was also another great eagle with large wings and many feathers: and, behold, this vine did bend its roots famishing toward him, and shot forth its tendrils toward him, that he might water it, from the beds where it was planted;
“‘Ṣùgbọ́n ẹyẹ idì ńlá mìíràn tún wá, tó ní apá títóbi pẹ̀lú ìyẹ́ púpọ̀. Gbòǹgbò àjàrà náà sì ta lọ sọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀ láti orí ilẹ̀ tí wọn gbìn ín sí, ó wá pẹ̀ka lọ sọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀ kí ó le fún un ni omi.
8 [Although] it was planted in a good field by great waters, that it might produce boughs, and that it might bear fruit, that it might become an elegant vine.
Orí ilẹ̀ tó dára lẹ́gbẹ̀ẹ́ ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ omi ni a gbìn ín sí, kí ó bá à le pẹ̀ka, kò sì so èso, ó sì wá di igi àjàrà tó lọ́lá púpọ̀.’
9 Say now, Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Shall it prosper? Behold the other will pull up its roots, and its fruit will he cut away, that it may dry up; every one of its growing leaves shall dry up; and not with great power and numerous people [will he have to come] to tear it away from its roots.
“Sọ fún wọn pé, ‘Ohun tí Olúwa Olódùmarè wí nìyí, yóò wá gbilẹ̀ bí? A kò wá ní i wú gbòǹgbò rẹ̀, ki a si gé èso rẹ̀ kúrò kí ó bá à le rọ? Gbogbo ewé rẹ̀ tó ṣẹ̀ṣẹ̀ yọ ni yóò rẹ̀. Kò sì nígbà agbára tàbí ènìyàn púpọ̀ láti fà gbòǹgbò rẹ̀ tu.
10 Yea, behold, although it is planted, shall it prosper? Lo, as soon as the east wind toucheth it, shall it be utterly dried up: in the beds where it groweth shall it dry up.
Bí a tilẹ̀ tún un gbìn, yóò wa gbilẹ̀ bí? Kò wá ní i rọ pátápátá nígbà ti afẹ́fẹ́ láti ìlà-oòrùn bá kọlù ú. Gbogbo ewé rẹ̀ yóò rẹ̀ lórí ilẹ̀ tó ti dàgbà?’”
11 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
Nígbà náà, ni ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa tọ̀ mi wá pé:
12 Do now say to the rebellious family, Know ye not what these things mean? Say, Behold, the king of Babylon came to Jerusalem, and took away its king and its princes, and he brought them unto himself to Babylon;
“Sọ fún ọlọ̀tẹ̀ ilé yìí, ‘Ǹjẹ́ ẹ mọ ìtumọ̀ àwọn nǹkan wọ̀nyí?’ Sọ fún wọn: ‘Ọba Babeli wá sí Jerusalẹmu, ó sì kó ọba àti àwọn ìjòyè ọmọ-aládé ibẹ̀ lọ sí Babeli lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀.
13 And he took one of the royal seed, and made a covenant with him, and bound him with an oath; but the mighty of the land did he take away;
Lẹ́yìn èyí, ó bá ọ̀kan nínú ọmọ ọba dá májẹ̀mú, ó mú un ìbúra, ó tún kó àwọn alágbára ilẹ̀ náà lọ.
14 That the kingdom should be debased, so as not to lift itself up; that it should keep his covenant that it might continue to exist.
Kí ìjọba ilẹ̀ náà le rẹ ilẹ̀, kí ó má lè gbé ara rẹ̀ sókè, kí ó lè dúró nípa pípa májẹ̀mú rẹ̀ mọ́.
15 But he rebelled against him by sending his messengers into Egypt, that they might give him horses and numerous people. Shall he prosper? shall he escape that doth such things? yea, he hath broken the covenant, and shall he escape?
Ṣùgbọ́n ọba ṣọ̀tẹ̀ sí i nípa ríran àwọn ikọ̀ rẹ̀ lọ sí Ejibiti, kí wọn bá à lè fún un ni ẹṣin àti àwọn ọmọ-ogun púpọ̀. Yóò ha ṣe àṣeyọrí? Ṣe ẹni tó ṣe irú nǹkan yìí yóò sì bọ́ níbẹ̀? Yóò ha dalẹ̀ tán kí ó sì bọ́ níbẹ̀ bí?
16 As I live, saith the Lord Eternal, surely in the residence of the king that hath made him king, whose oath he hath despised, and whose covenant he hath broken, even near him in the midst of Babylon shall he die.
“‘Bí mo ti wà láààyè ni Olúwa Olódùmarè wí, òun yóò kú ní Babeli, ní ilẹ̀ ọba tó fi sórí oyè, ìbúra ẹni tí ó kẹ́gàn àti májẹ̀mú ẹni tí ó dà.
17 And not with a mighty army and a large assembly shall Pharaoh labor for him in the war, when [the other] casteth up mounds, and buildeth works of attack, to cut off many souls.
Farao pẹ̀lú àwọn ọmọ-ogun àti àjọ ńlá rẹ̀ kò ní lè ṣe ìrànwọ́ fún un lójú ogun. Nígbà tí wọ́n bá pa bùdó ogun tì í, tí wọ́n sì mọ odi láti pa ọ̀pọ̀ ènìyàn.
18 Yea, he that hath despised the oath by breaking the covenant, when, lo, he had given his hand, and hath done all these things, shall not escape.
Nítorí pé ó kẹ́gàn ìbúra nípa dída májẹ̀mú, àti pé ó juwọ́ sílẹ̀ nínú ṣíṣe ìlérí, kì yóò bọ níbẹ̀ pẹ̀lú gbogbo àwọn nǹkan tí ó ṣe yìí.
19 Therefore thus hath said the Lord Eternal, As I live, surely my oath that he hath despised, and my covenant that he hath broken, —even this will I bring upon his own head.
“‘Nítorí náà Olúwa Olódùmarè wí pé, bí mo ti wà láààyè, Èmi yóò mú ẹ̀san ẹ̀jẹ́ mi tó kẹ́gàn àti májẹ̀mú mi tó dà wa sórí rẹ̀.
20 And I will spread my net over him, and he shall be caught in my snare, and I will bring him to Babylon, and will hold judgment with him there for his trespass which he hath committed against me.
Èmi yóò ta àwọ̀n mi sórí rẹ̀, yóò sì bọ sínú okùn mi, Èmi yóò mú ọ lọ Babeli láti ṣe ìdájọ́ ìwà ọ̀dàlẹ̀ tó hù sí mi.
21 And all his fugitives with all the wings of his army shall fall by the sword, and those that remain shall be dispersed toward all winds: and ye shall know that I the Lord have spoken it.
Gbogbo ìgbèkùn àti ọ̀wọ́ ọmọ-ogun rẹ̀ ni yóò kú pẹ̀lú idà, èmi yóò sì fọn àwọn ìyókù ká sínú afẹ́fẹ́ káàkiri. Nígbà náà ni yóò mọ̀ pé, “Èmi Olúwa ni ó ti sọ̀rọ̀.”
22 Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, But I myself will take [a part] of the highest branch of the high cedar, and will preserve it; from the topmost of its young twigs will I crop off a tender one, and I myself will plant it firmly upon a high and eminent mountain:
“‘Báyìí ní Olúwa Olódùmarè wí, Èmi fúnra mi yóò mú ọ̀kan lára ẹ̀ka tí ó ga jùlọ lórí igi kedari gíga, tí èmi yóò sì gbìn ín, èmi yóò sì gé ọ̀mùnú tí ó ṣẹ̀ṣẹ̀ yọ láti òkè, èmi yóò sì gbìn ín sórí òkè tó ga tó sì lókìkí.
23 On the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it firmly; and it shall produce boughs, and bear fruit, and become an elegant cedar; and there shall dwell under it all fowls, every thing that hath wing; in the shadow of its light branches shall they dwell.
Ní ibi gíga òkè Israẹli ni èmi yóò gbìn ín sí; yóò pẹ̀ka, yóò sì so èso, yóò wa di igi kedari tí ó lọ́lá. Oríṣìíríṣìí ẹyẹ yóò sì fi òjìji abẹ ẹ̀ka rẹ ṣe ibùgbé; wọn yóò ṣe ibùgbé si abẹ́ òjìji ẹ̀ka rẹ̀.
24 And all the trees of the field shall know that I the Lord have made low the high tree, have made high the lowly tree, that I have dried up the green tree, and have caused to flourish the dry tree: I the Lord have spoken and have done it.
Gbogbo igi inú oko yóò mọ̀ pé, Èmi Olúwa ni ó mú igi gíga walẹ̀, tí mo sì mú kúkúrú ga sókè, tí mo mu igi tútù gbẹ, tí mo sì mú igi gbígbẹ rúwé. “‘Èmi Olúwa ni ó sọ bẹ́ẹ̀, Èmi yóò sì ṣe e.’”
