Ezekiel 10
1 Then I saw, and, behold, on the vault that was above the head of the cherubim, there appeared over them something like a sapphire stone, something similar in appearance to the likeness of a throne.
Et je vis, et voilà que dans le firmament qui était sur la tête des chérubins, parut comme une pierre de saphir, comme une espèce de ressemblance de trône au-dessus d’eux.
2 And he said unto the man clothed in linen, and said, Go in between the wheels, under the cherub, and fill thy hands with coals of fire from between the cherubim, and throw [them] over the city. And he went in before my eyes.
Et le Seigneur dit à l’homme qui était vêtu de lin: Entre au milieu des roues qui sont sous les chérubins, et remplis tes mains de charbons ardents de feu qui sont entre les chérubins, et répands-les sur la cité. Et il entra en ma présence;
3 Now the cherubim were standing on the right side of the house, when the man went in: and the cloud filled the inner court.
Mais les chérubins se tenaient à la droite de la maison, lorsque l’homme entra, et la nuée remplit le parvis intérieur.
4 Then the glory of the Lord rose upward from the cherub, toward the threshold of the house: and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of the Lord's glory.
Et la gloire du Seigneur s’éleva de dessus les chérubins vers le seuil de sa maison; et la maison fut remplie de la nuée, et le parvis fut rempli de l’éclat de la gloire du Seigneur.
5 And the sound of the wings of the cherubim was heard as far as the outer court, like the voice of the Almighty God when he speaketh.
Et l’on entendait le bruit des ailes des chérubins jusqu’au parvis extérieur, comme la voix du Dieu tout-puissant lorsqu’il parle.
6 And it came to pass, when he commanded the man clothed in linen, saying, Take fire from between the wheels, from between the cherubim, that he went in, and stood beside the wheel.
Et lorsque le Seigneur eut commandé à l’homme qui était vêtu de lin, en disant: Prends du feu du milieu des roues qui sont entre les chérubins, celui-ci entra et se tint près de la roue.
7 And the one cherub stretched forth his hand from between the cherubim unto the fire that was between the cherubim, and lifted it up, and placed it into the hands of the one clothed in linen; who took it, and went out.
Et le chérubin étendit sa main, du milieu des chérubins, vers le feu qui était entre les chérubins; et il en prit, et il le mit dans les mains de celui qui était vêtu de lin; lequel l’ayant reçu, sortit.
8 And there became visible on the cherubim the form of a man's hand beneath their wings.
Et il parut dans les chérubins, la ressemblance d’une main d’homme sous leurs ailes.
9 And I saw, and, behold, there were four wheels by the cherubim, one wheel by the one cherub, and another wheel by the other cherub: and the appearance of the wheels was like the glitter of a chrysolite stone.
Et je vis, et voilà quatre roues près des chérubins; une roue près d’un chérubin, et une autre roue près d’un autre chérubin; mais l’apparence des quatre roues était comme celle d’une pierre de chrysolithe;
10 And as for their appearances, the whole four had one likeness, as if a wheel were in the midst of another wheel.
Et d’après leur apparence, toutes les quatre avaient la même forme; comme serait une roue au milieu d’une autre roue.
11 In their going, they went toward their four sides, they turned not round in their going; but to the place whither the head was turned they followed it, they turned not round in their going.
Et lorsqu’elles marchaient, elles allaient de quatre côtés et ne se retournaient pas en marchant; mais quand la première allait d’un côté, les autres suivaient et ne se détournaient point.
12 And their whole body, and their back, and their hands, and their wings, as also the wheels, were full of eyes round about, [even] the wheels that belonged to all four of them.
Et tout le corps de ces quatre roues, et les cous, et les mains, et les ailes et les cercles étaient pleins d’yeux tout autour.
13 As for the wheels, they were called Galgal before my ears.
Et ces roues furent appelées, moi l’entendant, les roulantes.
14 And every one had four faces: the one face was the face of a cherub, and the second face was the face of a man, and the third face was the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.
Chacun de ces animaux avait quatre faces; la première face était la face du chérubin, la seconde face une face d’homme, le troisième animal avait une face de lion, et le quatrième une face d’aigle.
15 And the cherubim lifted themselves up. This is the living creature that I saw by the river Kebar.
Et les chérubins s’élevèrent, c’est ranimai même que j’avais vu près du fleuve de Chobar.
16 And when the cherubim went forward, the wheels went close by them; and when the cherubim lifted up their wings to mount up from the earth, the wheels also did not turn away from beside them.
Et lorsque les chérubins marchaient, allaient pareillement aussi les roues près d’eux; et lorsque les chérubins haussaient leurs ailes, afin de s’élever de terre, les roues n’y restaient pas, mais elles étaient près d’eux.
17 When those halted, these halted; and when those lifted themselves up, these lifted themselves up with them; for the spirit of the living creature was in them.
Eux s’arrêtant, elles s’arrêtaient, et quand ils s’élevaient, elles s’élevaient, parce que l’esprit de vie était en elles.
18 And the glory of the Lord went forth from off the threshold of the house, and halted over the cherubim.
Et la gloire du Seigneur sortit du seuil du temple, elle se reposa sur les chérubins.
19 And the cherubim lifted up their wings, and mounted up from the earth before my eyes as they went forth, and the wheels at the same time with them, and halted at the entrance of the east gate of the house of the Lord: and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.
Et les chérubins, haussant leurs ailes, s’élevèrent de terre devant moi; et eux sortant, les roues aussi les suivirent; et ils s’arrêtèrent à l’entrée de la porte orientale de la maison du Seigneur; et la gloire du Dieu d’Israël était sur eux,
20 This is the living creature that I saw under the God of Israel by the river Kebar; and I understood that they were cherubim.
C’est l’animal même que je vis au-dessous du Dieu d’Israël près du fleuve de Chobar; et je reconnus que c’étaient des chérubins.
21 Every one had four faces apiece, and every one had four wings; and the likeness of the hands of a man was under their wings.
Chacun avait quatre faces, et chacun quatre ailes; et la ressemblance d’une main d’homme sous leurs ailes.
22 And the likeness of their faces was the same as the faces which I had seen by the river Kebar, their appearances and themselves: they went every one in the direction of his face.
Et la ressemblance de leurs visages, c’étaient les visages mêmes que j’avais vus près du fleuve de Chobar, et aussi leur aspect, et l’impétuosité de chacun à marcher devant sa face.
