Exodus 5
1 And after that Moses and Aaron went in, and said unto Pharaoh, Thus hath said the Everlasting One, the God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness.
Μετά δε ταύτα, εισελθόντες ο Μωϋσής και ο Ααρών, είπαν προς τον Φαραώ, Ούτω λέγει Κύριος ο Θεός του Ισραήλ· Εξαπόστειλον τον λαόν μου, διά να εορτάσωσιν εις εμέ εν τη ερήμω.
2 And Pharaoh said, Who is the Everlasting, whose voice I am to obey, to let Israel go? I know not the Everlasting, nor will I let Israel go.
Ο δε Φαραώ είπε, Τις είναι ο Κύριος, εις του οποίου την φωνήν θέλω υπακούσει, ώστε να εξαποστείλω τον Ισραήλ; δεν γνωρίζω τον Κύριον και ουδέ τον Ισραήλ θέλω εξαποστείλει.
3 And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, a three days' journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto the Lord our God; lest he fall upon us with the pestilence, or with the sword.
Οι δε είπον, Ο Θεός των Εβραίων συνήντησεν ημάς· άφες λοιπόν να υπάγωμεν οδόν τριών ημερών εις την έρημον, διά να προσφέρωμεν θυσίαν εις Κύριον τον Θεόν ημών, μήποτε έλθη καθ' ημών με θανατικόν ή με μάχαιραν.
4 And the king of Egypt said unto them, Wherefore do ye, Moses and Aaron, hinder the people from their works? get you unto your own affairs.
Και είπε προς αυτούς ο βασιλεύς της Αιγύπτου, Διά τι, Μωϋσή και Ααρών, αποκόπτετε τον λαόν από των εργασιών αυτού; υπάγετε εις τα έργα σας.
5 And Pharaoh said, Behold, the people of the land now are many, and ye disturb them in the pursuit of their labors.
Και είπεν ο Φαραώ, Ιδού, ο λαός του τόπου είναι τώρα πολυπληθής και σεις κάμνετε αυτούς να παύωσιν από των έργων αυτών.
6 And Pharaoh commanded on the same day the taskmasters of the people, and its officers, saying,
Και την αυτήν ημέραν προσέταξεν ο Φαραώ τους εργοδιώκτας τον λαού και τους επιτρόπους αυτών, λέγων,
7 Ye shall no more give the people straw to make the bricks, as yesterday and the day before; they themselves shall go and gather themselves straw.
Δεν θέλετε δώσει πλέον εις τον λαόν τούτον άχυρον καθώς χθές και προχθές, διά να κάμνωσι τας πλίνθους· ας υπάγωσιν αυτοί και ας συνάγωσιν εις εαυτούς άχυρον·
8 And the number of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall impose upon them, ye shall not diminish aught thereof; for they are idle: therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God.
θέλετε όμως επιβάλει εις αυτούς το ποσόν των πλίνθων, το οποίον έκαμνον πρότερον· παντελώς δεν θέλετε ελαττώσει αυτό· διότι μένουσιν αργοί και διά τούτο φωνάζουσι, λέγοντες, Άφες να υπάγωμεν, διά να προσφέρωμεν θυσίαν εις τον Θεόν ημών·
9 Let the work be made to lie heavily upon the men, that they may have enough to do therein; and that they may not pay attention to false words.
ας επιβαρυνθώσιν αι εργασίαι των ανθρώπων τούτων, διά να ήναι ενησχολημένοι εις αυτάς και να μη προσέχωσιν εις λόγια μάταια.
10 And the taskmasters of the people and its officers went out, and they said to the people, saying, Thus saith Pharaoh, I will not give you any straw.
Εξήλθον λοιπόν οι εργοδιώκται του λαού και οι επίτροποι αυτού και ελάλησαν προς τον λαόν, λέγοντες, Ούτως είπεν ο Φαραώ· Δεν σας δίδω άχυρον·
11 Go ye, get yourselves straw from wherever ye can find it; yet not the least shall be taken off from your work.
σεις αυτοί υπάγετε, συνάγετε άχυρον, όπου δύνασθε να εύρητε· πλην δεν θέλει ελαττωθή εκ των εργασιών σας ουδέν.
12 And the people scattered themselves abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble instead of straw.
Και διεσπάρη ο λαός καθ' όλην την γην της Αιγύπτου, διά να συνάγη καλάμην αντί αχύρου.
13 And the taskmasters were urgent, saying, Fulfill your works, every day its due portion, just as when there was straw.
Οι δε εργοδιώκται εβίαζον αυτούς, λέγοντες, Τελειόνετε τας εργασίας σας, το διωρισμένον καθ' ημέραν, καθώς ότε εδίδετο το άχυρον.
14 And the officers of the children of Israel, whom the taskmasters of Pharaoh had set over them, were beaten, as these said, Wherefore have ye not fulfilled your task in making brick as heretofore, both yesterday and today?
Και εμαστιγώθησαν οι επίτροποι των υιών Ισραήλ, οι διωρισμένοι επ' αυτούς υπό των εργοδιωκτών του Φαραώ, λεγόντων, Διά τι δεν ετελειώσατε χθές και σήμερον το διωρισμένον εις εσάς ποσόν των πλίνθων, καθώς πρότερον;
15 And the officers of the children of Israel came and cried unto Pharaoh, saying, Wherefore dealest thou thus with thy servants?
Εισελθόντες δε οι επίτροποι των υιών Ισραήλ, κατεβόησαν προς τον Φαραώ, λέγοντες, Διά τι κάμνεις ούτως εις τους δούλους σου;
16 Straw is not given unto thy servants, and, Make bricks, say they to us: and, behold, thy servants are beaten, and thy people are treated as sinners.
άχυρον δεν δίδεται εις τους δούλους σου και λέγουσιν εις ημάς, Κάμνετε πλίνθους· και ιδού, εμαστιγώθησαν οι δούλοί σου· το δε σφάλμα είναι του λαού σου.
17 But he said, Idle are ye, idle; therefore say ye, Let us go and sacrifice to the Lord.
Ο δε απεκρίθη, Οκνηροί είσθε, οκνηροί· διά τούτο λέγετε, Άφες να υπάγωμεν να προσφέρωμεν θυσίαν προς τον Κύριον·
18 And now go, work, and straw shall not be given you; yet the required number of bricks shall ye deliver.
υπάγετε λοιπόν τώρα, δουλεύετε· διότι άχυρον δεν θέλει σας δοθή· θέλετε όμως αποδίδει το ποσόν των πλίνθων.
19 And the officers of the children of Israel saw themselves in the evil necessity to say, Ye shall not diminish aught from your bricks, every day of its task.
Και έβλεπον εαυτούς οι επίτροποι των υιών Ισραήλ εν κακή περιστάσει, αφού ερρέθη προς αυτούς, Δεν θέλει ελαττωθή ουδέν από του καθημερινού ποσού των πλίνθων.
20 And they met Moses and Aaron, standing in their way, as they came forth from Pharaoh.
Εξερχόμενοι δε από του Φαραώ, συνήντησαν τον Μωϋσήν και τον Ααρών, ερχομένους εις συνάντησιν αυτών·
21 And they said unto them, May the Lord look upon you, and judge; because ye have made our savor to be abhorred in the eyes of Pharaoh, and the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to slay us.
και είπον προς αυτούς, Ο Κύριος να σας ίδη και να κρίνη· διότι σεις εκάμετε βδελυκτήν την οσμήν ημών έμπροσθεν του Φαραώ και έμπροσθεν των δούλων αυτού, ώστε να δώσητε εις τας χείρας αυτών μάχαιραν διά να θανατώσωσιν ημάς.
22 And Moses returned unto the Lord, and said, Lord, wherefore hast thou let so much evil come upon this people? why is it that thou hast sent me?
Και επέστρεψεν ο Μωϋσής προς τον Κύριον και είπε, Κύριε, διά τι κατέθλιψας τον λαόν τούτον; και διά τι με απέστειλας;
23 For, since I came unto Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he hath done more evil to this people; but thou hast in nowise delivered thy people.
διότι, αφού ήλθον προς τον Φαραώ να ομιλήσω εν ονόματί σου, κατέθλιψε τον λαόν τούτον· και συ ποσώς δεν ηλευθέρωσας τον λαόν σου.
