Ecclesiastes 8
1 Who is like the wise? and who knoweth [as well] the explanation of a thing? a man's wisdom enlighteneth his face, and the boldness of his face will be lessened.
Kinsa man ang maalamon nga tawo? Kinsa man ang nasayod sa pasabot sa mga panghitabo sa kinabuhi? Ang kaalam nga anaa sa tawo makapadan-ag sa iyang dagway, ug ang kaisog sa iyang panagway mausab.
2 I [counsel thee], Keep the king's command, and that which regardeth the oath [to him taken] by God.
Tambagan ko ikaw nga magtuman sa mando sa hari tungod sa panumpa sa Dios sa pagpanalipod kaniya.
3 Be not hasty to go out of his presence; engage not in an evil thing; for whatsoever pleaseth him, can he do;
Ayaw pagdali sa paghawa sa iyang presensya, ug ayaw pagbarog sa pagtabang sa sayop nga mga butang, kay buhaton sa hari kung unsa ang iyang mga gitinguha.
4 Because the word of a king is powerful; and who may say unto him, What doest thou?—
Ang pulong sa hari maoy matuman, busa kinsa man ang mosulti ngadto kaniya, “Unsa man ang imong gibuhat?”
5 Whoso keepeth the commandment will experience no evil thing: and a wise man's heart knoweth both time and the just consequence.
Si bisan kinsa ang magtipig sa mga mando sa hari makalikay sa kadaot. Ang kasingkasing sa maalamon nga tawo makaila sa husto nga hukom ug panahon sa pagbuhat.
6 Because for every pursuit there is a time and a just consequence; for the evil of man [resteth] heavily upon him.
Kay ang matag butang adunay hustong tubag ug panahon aron sa pagtubag, tungod kay hilabihan ang mga kasamok sa tawo.
7 For he knoweth not that which will be; for who can tell him how it will be?
Walay usa nga nasayod kung unsa ang mahitabo sa sunod. Kinsa man ang makasulti kaniya kung unsa ang moabot?
8 No man hath control over the spirit to detain the spirit; and there is no control over the day of death; and there is no representation in that war; and wickedness will not deliver those that practise it.
Walay usa nga magdumala sa iyang gininhawa ingon nga makapahunong siya sa gininhawa, ug walay usa nga adunay gahum sa iyang kamatayon. Walay usa sa kasundalohan nga mahimulag atol sa gubat, ug ang pagkadautan dili makaluwas niadtong iyang mga giulipon.
9 All this have I seen, and directed my heart unto every work that is done under the sun: there is a time when one man ruleth over another to his own injury.
Nakaamgo ako niining tanan; Kinasingkasing kong gituman ang tanang matang sa buhat nga gipabuhat matag adlaw. Adunay panahon diin ang usa ka tawo adunay gahom sa pagdaugdaug sa laing tawo aron sa pagpasakit niini.
10 Then also did I see the wicked buried, who had gone to their rest; but those who had acted correctly had to go away from the holy place, and were forgotten in the city. Also this is vanity.
Busa nakita ko ang daotan nga gilubong diha sa kadaghanan. Gikuha sila gikan sa balaang dapit ug gilubong ug gidayeg sa mga tawo sa siyudad diin nagbuhat sila sa ilang daotan nga mga binuhatan. Kini usab walay kapuslanan.
11 Because the punishment against evil deeds is not executed speedily, therefore is the heart of the sons of men filled up in them to do evil.
Kung ang hukom batok sa daotang binuhatan wala gipatuman dayon, makapadani kini sa mga kasingkasing sa katawhan mga magbuhat ug daotan.
12 But let a sinner do evil a hundred times, and [God] withhold long his punishment from him; still do I truly know for certain that it will be well with those that fear God, because they are afraid of him;
Bisan pa kung ang makasasala magbuhat ug daotan sa gatosan ka higayon ug padayon nga mabuhi sa taas nga panahon, apan nasayod ako nga maayo ang mahitabo niadtong nagtahod sa Dios, nga nagpasidungog sa iyang presensya uban kanila.
13 And that it will not be well with the wicked, and that he will not endure many days, like the shadow; because he is not afraid of God.
Apan dili mahimong maayo ang mahitabo sa daotang tawo; ang iyang kinabuhi dili malugwayan. Ang iyang mga adlaw sama sa naglupad nga anino tungod kay wala siya nagpasidungog sa Dios.
14 There is a vanity which is done upon the earth, that there are righteous men, unto whom it happeneth in accordance with the deeds of the wicked; again, there are wicked men, to whom it happeneth in accordance with the deeds of the righteous. I said that this also is vanity.
Adunay lain pang walay pulos nga aso—usa ka butang nga nahimo sa kalibotan. Mga butang nga mahitabo ngadto sa matarong nga mga tawo sama nga mahitabo ngadto sa daotan nga mga tawo, ug mga butang nga mahitabo ngadto sa daotan nga mga tawo sama nga mahitabo kini ngadto sa matarong nga mga tawo. Magsulti ako nga kini usab walay pulos sama sa aso.
15 Therefore do I praise joyfulness, that there is nothing better for man under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be joyful; for this will adhere to him in his toil, during the days of his life which God hath given him under the sun.—
Busa nagsugyot ako ug kalipay, tungod kay ang tawo wala nay maayong buhaton ilalom sa adlaw gawas sa pagkaon ug pag-inom ug pagmalipayon. Kalipay kini nga magduyog kaniya sa iyang pagpaningkamot sa tanang mga adlaw sa iyang kinabuhi nga gihatag sa Dios kaniya ilalom sa adlaw.
16 When I applied my heart to know wisdom, and to see the employment that is done upon the earth, how even neither by day nor by night sleep is seen in the eyes of some men:
Sa dihang gigamit nako ang akong kasingkasing aron sa pagpakigsayod ug sa pagsabot sa buhat nga nahitabo sa kalibotan, mga buhat nga kanunay nahimo nga walay tulog sa kagabhion o sa adlaw,
17 Then did I see [in] the whole work of God, that a man is not able to find out the work that is done under the sun; inasmuch as though a man were to toil to seek for it, he would yet not find it; and even if the wise were to think to know it, he would yet not be able to find it.
unya akong gihunahuna ang tanang mga buhat sa Dios, ug nga ang tawo dili makasabot sa buhat nga nahimo ilalom sa adlaw. Bisan unsaon sa pagpaningkamot sa tawo aron makakaplag ug katubagan, dili niya kini makaplagan. Bisan pa ug ang maalamon nga tawo nagtuo nga nasayod siya, apan wala gayod siya nasayod.
