Ecclesiastes 5
1 Watch thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be near to hearken [to his will], more than to give the sacrifice of fools; for they consider not that they do evil [to themselves].
௧நீ தேவாலயத்திற்குப் போகும்போது உன்னுடைய நடையைக் காத்துக்கொள்; மூடர் பலியிடுவதுபோலப் பலியிடுவதைவிட கேட்டறிவதே நலம். தாங்கள் செய்கிறது தீமையென்று அறியாமல் இருக்கிறார்கள்.
2 Suffer not thy mouth to be rash, and let thy heart not be hasty to utter any word before God; for God is in the heavens, and thou art upon the earth: therefore let thy words be few.
௨தேவ சமுகத்தில் நீ துணிகரமாக உன்னுடைய வாயினால் பேசாமலும், மனம்பதறி ஒரு வார்த்தையையும் சொல்லாமலும் இரு; தேவன் வானத்தில் இருக்கிறார்; நீ பூமியில் இருக்கிறாய், ஆதலால் உன்னுடைய வார்த்தைகள் சுருக்கமாக இருப்பதாக.
3 For a dream cometh through being much employed [with something], and the voice of a fool cometh with a multitude of words.
௩தொல்லையின் மிகுதியினால் சொப்பனம் பிறக்கிறதுபோல, வார்த்தைகளின் மிகுதியினால் மூடனுடைய சத்தம் பிறக்கும்.
4 When thou makest a vow unto God, do not delay to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in such fools: that which thou hast vowed must thou pay.
௪நீ தேவனுக்கு ஒரு பொருத்தனை செய்துகொண்டால், அதைச் செலுத்தத் தாமதிக்காதே; அவர் மூடரில் பிரியப்படுகிறதில்லை; நீ நேர்ந்துகொண்டதைச் செய்.
5 It is better that thou shouldst not vow, than that thou shouldst vow and not pay.
௫நீ நேர்ந்துகொண்டதைச் செய்யாமற்போவதைவிட, நேர்ந்துகொள்ளாமல் இருப்பதே நலம்.
6 Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy body to sin; and say thou not before the messenger, that it was an error: wherefore should God be angry because of thy voice, and destroy the work of thy hands?
௬உன்னுடைய சரீரத்தைப் பாவத்திற்குள்ளாக்க உன்னுடைய வாய்க்கு இடம்கொடுக்காதே; அது புத்திமாறி செய்தது என்று தூதனுக்குமுன்பு சொல்லாதே; தேவன் உன்னுடைய வார்த்தைகளினாலே கோபம் கொண்டு, உன்னுடைய கைகளின் செயல்களை ஏன் அழித்துக்கொள்ளவேண்டும்?
7 For in the multitude of dreams and vanities there are also many words; but rather fear thou God.
௭அநேக சொப்பனங்கள் மாயையாக இருப்பதுபோல அநேக வார்த்தைகளும் மாயையாக இருக்கும்; ஆகையால் நீ தேவனுக்குப் பயந்திரு.
8 If thou see the oppression of the poor, and violence done to justice and righteousness in a province, do not feel astounded at the matter; for one that is high watcheth over the high; and over them, the highest Power.
௮ஒரு தேசத்தில் ஏழைகள் ஒடுக்கப்படுகிறதையும், நியாயமும் நீதியும் புரட்டப்படுகிறதையும் நீ கண்டால், அதைக்குறித்து ஆச்சரியப்படாதே; உயர்ந்தவன்மேல் உயர்ந்தவன் காவலாளியாக இருக்கிறான்; அவர்கள்மேல் உயர்ந்தவரும் ஒருவருண்டு.
9 But the advantage of a land in all things is, a king who is subject to the country.
௯பூமியில் விளையும் பலன் எல்லோருக்கும் உரியது; ராஜாவும் வயலின் பலனால் ஆதரிக்கப்படுகிறான்.
10 He that loveth money will never be satisfied with money; nor he that loveth abundance, with any increase. Also this is vanity.
௧0பணப்பிரியன் பணத்தினால் திருப்தியடைவதில்லை; செல்வப்பிரியன் செல்வப்பெருக்கினால் திருப்தியடைவதில்லை; இதுவும் மாயையே.
11 When prosperity increaseth, those that consume it [likewise] increase: and what advantage is there to its owner, saving to see [it] with his eyes?
௧௧பொருள் பெருகினால் அதை சாப்பிடுகிறவர்களும் பெருகுகிறார்கள்; அதை உடையவர்கள் தங்களுடைய கண்களினால் அதைக் காண்பதைத் தவிர அவர்களுக்கு பலன் என்ன?
12 Sweet is the sleep of the laboring man, whether he eat little or much; but the overabundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep.
௧௨வேலைசெய்கிறவன் கொஞ்சமாக சாப்பிட்டாலும், அதிகமாக சாப்பிட்டாலும் அவனுடைய தூக்கம் இன்பமாக இருக்கும்; செல்வந்தனுடைய பெருக்கோ அவனைத் தூங்கவிடாது.
13 There is a sore evil which I have seen under the sun, [namely, ] riches reserved for their owner to his own hurt.
௧௩சூரியனுக்குக் கீழே நான் கண்ட வேறொரு கொடிய தீங்குமுண்டு; அதாவது, ஐசுவரியமானது அதை உடையவர்களுக்கே கேடு உண்டாகும்படி சேகரித்து வைக்கப்படுவதாம்.
14 And these riches are lost through an unfortunate event; and he begetteth a son, and hath not the least in his hand:
௧௪அந்த ஐசுவரியம் துரதிர்ஷ்டத்தினால் அழிந்துபோகிறது; அவன் ஒரு மகனைப் பெறுகிறான்; அவனுடைய கையில் ஒன்றும் இல்லை.
15 As he came forth out of his mother's womb, naked will he return to go as he came; and not the least will he carry off for his toil, which he might take away with him.
௧௫தன்னுடைய தாயின் கர்ப்பத்திலிருந்து நிர்வாணியாக வந்தான்; வந்ததுபோலவே நிர்வாணியாகத் திரும்பப் போவான்; அவன் தன்னுடைய பிரயாசத்தினால் உண்டான பலனொன்றையும் தன்னுடைய கையிலே எடுத்துக் கொண்டுபோவதில்லை.
16 And also this is a sore evil, that in all points as he came, so must he go: and what profit hath he that hath toiled for the wind?
௧௬அவன் வந்தபடியே போகிறான், இதுவும் கொடுமையான தீங்கு; அவன் காற்றுக்காக உழைத்ததால் அவனுக்கு லாபம் என்ன?
17 All his days also had he to eat in darkness, and hath had much vexation and wrath with his sickness.
௧௭அவன் தன்னுடைய நாட்களிலெல்லாம் இருளிலே சாப்பிட்டு, மிகவும் சலித்து, நோயும் துன்பமும் அடைகிறான்.
18 Behold, what I have truly seen as a good thing, that it is fitting to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all one's toil that he taketh under the sun the number of the days of his life, which God hath given him; for this is his portion.
௧௮இதோ, உயிரோடிருக்கும்படி தேவன் அருளிச்செய்த நாட்களெல்லாம் மனிதன் சாப்பிட்டுக் குடித்து, சூரியனுக்குக் கீழே தான் உழைத்த அனைத்தின் பலனையும் அனுபவிப்பதே நலமும் உத்தமுமான காரியமென்று நான் கண்டேன், இதுவே அவன் பங்கு.
19 Also every man to whom God hath given riches and property, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his toil— this is the gift of God.
௧௯தேவன் ஐசுவரியத்தையும் செல்வத்தையும் எவனுக்குக் கொடுத்திருக்கிறாரோ, அவன் அதிலே சாப்பிடவும், தன்னுடைய பங்கைப் பெறவும், தன்னுடைய பிரயாசத்திலே மகிழ்ச்சியாக இருக்கவும் அவனுக்கு அதிகாரம் அளிப்பது தேவனுடைய வெகுமதி.
20 Let him then remember, that the days of his life are not many, that God hath answered him with the joy of his heart.
௨0அவனுடைய இருதயத்திலே மகிழும்படி தேவன் அவனுக்கு தயவு செய்கிறபடியினால், அவன் தன்னுடைய உயிருள்ள நாட்களை அதிகமாக நினைக்கமாட்டான்.
