< Ecclesiastes 11 >

1 Cast thy bread upon the face of the waters; for after many days wilt thou find it again.
Tui nuiah takaw to va ah, ni akra parai pacoengah na hnu let tih.
2 Give a portion to seven, and also to eight: for thou knowest not what evil may come upon the earth.—
Kami sarihto khae khue ah na ai, tazetto hanah doeh paek ah; long nuiah kawbaktih sethaih maw pha tih, tiah na panoek ai.
3 If the clouds be full of rain, they will empty it out upon the earth; and if the tree fall toward the south, or toward the north, on the place where the tree falleth, there will it remain.
Tamai loe khotui hoiah koi naah ni, long ah kho angzoh; thing loe aluek bangah maw, to tih ai boeh loe aloih bangah maw, amtim cadoeh, amtimhaih ahmuen ah ni oh.
4 He that watcheth the wind will not sow; and he that gazeth on the clouds will not reap.
Takhi khen kami loe patii mak ai, tamai khen kami doeh aat mak ai.
5 As thou knowest not which is the way of the wind, as little as what is enclosed in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou canst not know the works of God who maketh all.
Takhi caehhaih loklam to na panoek ai, amno zokthung ah nawkta ih ahuh kawbangmaw qoeng tahang, tito na panoek ai; to baktih toengah hmuen boih Sahkung Sithaw toksakhaih to na panoek ai.
6 In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening let not thy hand rest; for thou knowest not which will succeed, whether this or that, or whether both of them will be alike good.
Khawnthaw ah cangtii tuh ah, duembang ah doeh na ban to pakhuem duem hmah; kawbaktih maw atho om tih, kawbaktih maw atho om mak ai, to tih ai boeh loe atho om hoi hmaek tih maw, tito na panoek ai.
7 Truly the light is sweet, and it is a pleasant thing for the eyes to see the sun;
Tangtang ni ni aengh loe luep, ni aengh hnuk naah mik hanah anghoehaih to oh.
8 For if a man live [even] many years, let him rejoice in them all; and let him remember the days of darkness; for they will be many; all that cometh is vanity.
Kami loe saning sawk ah hing moe, hmuen boih ah anghoehaih tawn cadoeh, vinghaih aninawk to poek nasoe; to aninawk loe sawk parai tih. Angzo han koi hmuennawk boih loe azom pui ni.
9 Rejoice, O young man, in thy childhood; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youthful vigor, and walk firmly in the ways of thy heart, and in [the direction which] thy eyes see: but know thou, that concerning all these things God will bring thee into judgment.
Aw thendoeng, tha oh nathuem ah anghoe ah; tha oh thuem naah na palung to anghoe nasoe, na palung mah koeh ih loklam baktih, na mik mah hnuk ih loklam baktiah caeh ah; toe hae hmuennawk boih pongah Sithaw mah lok na caek tih, tito panoek ah.
10 And remove vexation from thy heart, and cause evil to pass away from thy body; for childhood and the time when the head is black are vanity.
To pongah palung na sethaih to takhoe ah loe, na takpum pong ih sethaih to va ah; saning nawkhaih hoi qoeng thuemhaih doeh azom pui ah ni oh.
