Deuteronomy 9
1 Hear, O Israel: Thou art to pass this day over the Jordan, to go in to drive out nations greater and mightier than thou, [to conquer] cities great and fortified up to heaven,
੧ਹੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ, ਸੁਣੋ, ਅੱਜ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਯਰਦਨ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਣਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਬਲਵੰਤ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੰਧਾਂ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਤੱਕ ਹਨ, ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਲਓ।
2 A people great and tall, the children of the 'Anakim, whom thou knowest, and of whom thou hast heard say, Who can stand before the children of 'Anak!
੨ਉਹ ਕੌਮ ਵੱਡੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਉੱਚੇ-ਲੰਮੇ ਹਨ, ਅਰਥਾਤ ਅਨਾਕੀ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹੋ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਖੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਨਾਕੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਕੌਣ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
3 Understand therefore this day, that the Lord thy God it is who goeth over before thee, he is a consuming fire; he will destroy them, and he will subdue them before thy face; and thou wilt drive them out, and destroy them quickly, as the Lord hath spoken unto thee.
੩ਤੁਸੀਂ ਅੱਜ ਜਾਣ ਲਓ ਕਿ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਅੱਗੇ-ਅੱਗੇ ਭਸਮ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਅੱਗ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਲੰਘਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਨੀਵਾਂ ਕਰੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਢ ਦਿਓਗੇ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ।
4 Thou must not say in thy heart, when the Lord thy God doth cast them out from before thee, as followeth, For my righteousness hath the Lord brought me in to possess this land; and that for the wickedness of these nations the Lord doth drive them out from before thee.
੪ਜਦ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਅੱਗਿਓਂ ਕੱਢ ਦੇਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਨਾ ਆਖਿਓ ਕਿ ਸਾਡੇ ਧਰਮ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਦੇਸ਼ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਬਜ਼ਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਲਿਆਇਆ ਹੈ। ਨਹੀਂ, ਸਗੋਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਅੱਗਿਓਂ ਕੱਢ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
5 Not for thy righteousness, nor for the uprightness of thy heart, dost thou go in to possess their land; but for the wickedness of these nations doth the Lord thy God drive them out from before thee, and in order that he may fulfill the word which the Lord hath sworn unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
੫ਨਾ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਧਰਮ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ, ਨਾ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਸਿਧਿਆਈ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਬਜ਼ਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹੋ, ਸਗੋਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਅੱਗਿਓਂ ਕੱਢਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਬਚਨ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਇਮ ਰੱਖੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ, ਇਸਹਾਕ ਅਤੇ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨਾਲ ਸਹੁੰ ਖਾ ਕੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ।
6 And thou shalt know, that not for thy righteousness doth the Lord thy God give unto thee this good land to possess it; for thou art a stiff-necked people.
੬ਤੁਸੀਂ ਜਾਣ ਲਓ ਕਿ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਧਰਮ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਇਹ ਚੰਗਾ ਦੇਸ਼ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੰਦਾ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਹਠੀਲੇ ਲੋਕ ਹੋ।
7 Remember, do not forget, how thou didst provoke the Lord thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou wentest out of the land of Egypt, until ye came unto this place, have ye been rebellious against the Lord.
੭ਯਾਦ ਰੱਖੋ ਅਤੇ ਭੁੱਲ ਨਾ ਜਾਇਓ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਉਜਾੜ ਵਿੱਚ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਜਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਤੋਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮਿਸਰ ਦੇਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਨਿੱਕਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਜਦ ਤੱਕ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਸਥਾਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਏ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਵਿਦਰੋਹ ਹੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
8 Also at Horeb ye provoked the Lord to wrath, so that the Lord was angry with you to destroy you.
੮ਹੋਰੇਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਵਾਨ ਹੋਇਆ।
9 When I was gone up into the mount to receive the tables of stone, the tables of the covenant which the Lord had made with you, and I abode on the mount forty days and forty nights, bread did I not eat, and water did I not drink.
੯ਜਦ ਮੈਂ ਪਰਬਤ ਉੱਤੇ ਪੱਥਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਫੱਟੀਆਂ ਲੈਣ ਨੂੰ ਚੜ੍ਹਿਆ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਉਸ ਨੇਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਫੱਟੀਆਂ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਬੰਨ੍ਹਿਆ ਸੀ, ਤਦ ਮੈਂ ਪਰਬਤ ਉੱਤੇ ਚਾਲ੍ਹੀ ਦਿਨ ਅਤੇ ਚਾਲ੍ਹੀ ਰਾਤ ਰਿਹਾ। ਮੈਂ ਨਾ ਰੋਟੀ ਖਾਧੀ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਪੀਤਾ।
10 And the Lord gave unto me the two tables of stone inscribed by the finger of God; and on them [was written] according to all the words, which the Lord had spoken with you on the mount out of the midst of the fire on the day of the assembly.
੧੦ਤਦ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪੱਥਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਦੋ ਫੱਟੀਆਂ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ, ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੀਂ ਲਿਖੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਬਤ ਉੱਤੇ ਅੱਗ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸਭਾ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਬੋਲੇ ਸਨ।
11 And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that the Lord gave unto me the two tables of stone, the tables of the covenant.
੧੧ਚਾਲ੍ਹੀ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਚਾਲ੍ਹੀ ਰਾਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਪੱਥਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਫੱਟੀਆਂ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਨੇਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਫੱਟੀਆਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ।
12 And the Lord said unto me, Arise, get thee down quickly from here; for thy people which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt have become corrupted; they have quickly turned aside out of the way which I have commanded them; they have made themselves a molten image.
੧੨ਤਦ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਉੱਠ ਅਤੇ ਛੇਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਥੋਂ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਉਤਰ ਜਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਲੋਕ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਮਿਸਰ ਤੋਂ ਕੱਢ ਲਿਆਇਆ ਹੈਂ, ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਭਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਕਰ ਬੈਠੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਛੇਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਰਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਮੁੜ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਢਾਲੀ ਹੋਈ ਮੂਰਤ ਆਪਣੇ ਲਈ ਬਣਾ ਲਈ ਹੈ।”
13 And the Lord said unto me, thus, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiff-necked people:
੧੩ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਪਰਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਵੇਖੋ, ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਹਠੀਲੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਹੈ।
14 Let me alone, and I will destroy them, and blot out their name from under the heavens; and I will make of thee a nation mightier and more numerous than they.
੧੪ਮੈਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦੇ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਦੇ ਹੇਠੋਂ ਮਿਟਾ ਦਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਕੌਮ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਲਵੰਤ ਅਤੇ ਵੱਡੀ ਬਣਾਵਾਂਗਾ।”
15 And I turned and came down from the mount, and the mount was burning with fire; and the two tables of the covenant were upon my two hands.
੧੫ਤਦ ਮੈਂ ਪਰਬਤ ਤੋਂ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਆਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਪਰਬਤ ਅੱਗ ਨਾਲ ਬਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਨੇਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਦੋਨੋਂ ਫੱਟੀਆਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਨ।
16 And I looked, and, behold, ye had sinned against the Lord your God, ye had made yourselves a molten calf; ye had turned aside quickly out of the way which the Lord had commanded you.
੧੬ਤਦ ਮੈਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਵੇਖੋ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਪਾਪ ਕੀਤਾ ਜੋ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਛਾ ਢਾਲ਼ ਕੇ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ ਸੀ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਛੇਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਰਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਮੁੜ ਗਏ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ।
17 And I took hold of the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and I broke them before your eyes.
੧੭ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਦੋਨੋਂ ਫੱਟੀਆਂ ਫੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸੁੱਟ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵੇਖਦਿਆਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੰਨ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ।
18 And I threw myself down before the Lord, as at the first, forty days and forty nights; bread did I not eat, and water did I not drink; on account of all your sins which ye had committed, in doing what is evil in the eyes of the Lord, to provoke him to anger.
੧੮ਤਦ ਮੈਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਚਾਲ੍ਹੀ ਦਿਨ ਅਤੇ ਚਾਲ੍ਹੀ ਰਾਤਾਂ ਪਿਆ ਰਿਹਾ। ਨਾ ਮੈਂ ਰੋਟੀ ਖਾਧੀ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਮੈਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਪੀਤਾ, ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਦ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ।
19 For I was afraid of the anger and the indignation, wherewith the Lord was wroth against you to destroy you; but the Lord hearkened unto me also at that time.
੧੯ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕਹਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਡਰ ਗਿਆ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੀ ਸੀ। ਫੇਰ ਵੀ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੁਣ ਲਈ।
20 And with Aaron was the Lord very angry to destroy him; and I prayed also for Aaron at the same time.
੨੦ਫੇਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਹਾਰੂਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਹਾਰੂਨ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ।
21 And your work of sin, which ye had made, the calf, I took and burnt it in fire, and stamped it, grinding it very small, until it was as fine as dust: and I cast the dust thereof into the brook that descendeth from the mount.
੨੧ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਪਾਪ ਨੂੰ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਉਸ ਵੱਛੇ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਸੀ, ਲੈ ਕੇ ਅੱਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾੜ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੁੱਟ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਪੀਹ ਕੇ ਐਨਾ ਮਹੀਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਧੂੜ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਧੂੜ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੱਕ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁੱਟ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪਰਬਤ ਤੋਂ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਸੀ।
22 And at Taberah, and at Massah and at Kibroth-hattaavah, have ye been provoking the Lord to wrath.
੨੨ਤਬਏਰਾਹ ਮੱਸਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਬਰੋਥ-ਹੱਤਾਵਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ।
23 And when the Lord sent you from Kadesh-barnea', saying, Go up and take possession of the land which I have given you: then rebelled ye against the order of the Lord your God, and ye believed not in him, and ye hearkened not to his voice.
੨੩ਜਦ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਕਾਦੇਸ਼-ਬਰਨੇਆ ਤੋਂ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਜਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇਸ਼ ਉੱਤੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਲਓ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਵਿਦਰੋਹ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਰਤੀਤ ਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਿਆ।
24 Rebellious have ye been against the Lord, from the day that I have known you.
੨੪ਜਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਿਆ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਵਿਦਰੋਹੀ ਹੀ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ।
25 And I threw myself down before the Lord those forty days and forty nights, which I threw myself down; because the Lord had said that he would destroy you.
੨੫ਤਦ ਮੈਂ ਚਾਲ੍ਹੀ ਦਿਨ ਅਤੇ ਚਾਲ੍ਹੀ ਰਾਤਾਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਭਾਰ ਡਿੱਗ ਕੇ ਪਿਆ ਰਿਹਾ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਪਿਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ।”
26 And I prayed unto the Lord, and said, O Lord Eternal, destroy not thy people and thy heritage, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand.
੨੬ਤਦ ਮੈਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਅੱਗੇ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ, “ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਆਪਣੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਿੱਜ-ਭਾਗ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਨਾ ਕਰ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਹਾਨਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਛੁਟਕਾਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਬਲਵੰਤ ਹੱਥ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਸਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਲੈ ਆਇਆ ਹੈਂ।
27 Think of thy servants, of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob; turn not unto the stubbornness of this people, nor to its wickedness, nor to its sin:
੨੭ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ, ਇਸਹਾਕ ਅਤੇ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਪਰਜਾ ਦੇ ਢੀਠਪੁਣੇ, ਦੁਸ਼ਟਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਪ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਵੇਖ,
28 Lest [the inhabitants of] the land whence thou hast brought us out say, Out of want of ability in the Lord to bring them into the land which he had promised them, and out of his hatred to them, hath he brought them out to slay them in the wilderness.
੨੮ਕਿਤੇ ਉਸ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਜਿੱਥੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਕੱਢ ਲਿਆਇਆ ਹੈਂ ਆਖਣ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾ ਪਹੁੰਚਾ ਸਕਿਆ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੈਰ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢ ਲਿਆਇਆ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਜਾੜ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰੇ।
29 Whereas they are thy people and thy heritage, whom thou hast brought out by thy mighty power and by thy outstretched arm.
੨੯ਉਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਿੱਜ-ਭਾਗ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਵੱਡੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਵਧਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਬਾਂਹ ਨਾਲ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢ ਲਿਆਇਆ ਹੈਂ।”
