Deuteronomy 8
1 All the commandment which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do; in order that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and take possession of the land which the Lord hath sworn unto your fathers.
Cuidareis de pôr por obra todo mandamento que eu vos ordeno hoje, para que vivais, e sejais multiplicados, e entreis, e possuais a terra, da qual jurou o SENHOR a vossos pais.
2 And thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God hath led thee these forty years in the wilderness, in order to afflict thee, to prove thee, to know what is in thy heart, whether thou wouldst keep his commandments, or not.
E te lembrarás de todo o caminho por onde te trouxe o SENHOR teu Deus estes quarenta anos no deserto, para afligir-te, para provar-te, para saber o que estava em teu coração, se havias de guardar ou não seus mandamentos.
3 And he afflicted thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and he gave thee manna to eat, which thou knewest not, and which thy fathers had not known; in order that he might make thee know that not by bread alone man doth live, but by every thing that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live.
E te afligiu, e te fez ter fome, e te sustentou com maná, comida que não conhecias tu, nem teus pais a conheciam; para fazer-te saber que o homem não viverá de só pão, mas de tudo o que sai da boca do SENHOR viverá o homem.
4 Thy garment did not fall worn out from thee, and thy foot did not swell, these forty years.
Tua roupa nunca se envelheceu sobre ti, nem o pé se te inchou por estes quarenta anos.
5 And thou shalt consider in thy heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so doth the Lord thy God chasten thee.
Reconhece assim em teu coração, que como castiga o homem a seu filho, assim o SENHOR teu Deus te castiga.
6 And thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him.
Guardarás, pois, os mandamentos do SENHOR teu Deus, andando em seus caminhos, e temendo-o.
7 For the Lord thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and mountains;
Porque o SENHOR teu Deus te introduz na boa terra, terra de ribeiros, de águas, de fontes, de mananciais que brotam por planícies e montes;
8 A land of wheat, and barley, and of the vine, and the fig-tree, and the pomegranate; a land of the oil-olive, and of honey;
Terra de trigo e cevada, e de videiras, e figueiras, e romeiras; terra de olivas, de azeite, e de mel;
9 A land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, wherein thou shalt not lack anything; a land the stones whereof are iron, and out of the mountains of which thou canst hew copper.
Terra na qual não comerás o pão com escassez, não te faltará nada nela; terra que suas pedras são ferro, e de seus montes cortarás bronze.
10 And when thou hast eaten and art satisfied, then shalt thou bless the Lord thy God for the good land which he hath given thee.
E comerás e te fartarás, e bendirás ao SENHOR teu Deus pela boa terra que te haverá dado.
11 Take heed unto thyself that thou forget not the Lord thy God, so as not to keep his commandments, and his ordinances, and his statutes, which I command thee this day;
Guarda-te, que não te esqueças do SENHOR teu Deus, para não observar seus mandamentos, e seus regulamentos, e seus estatutos, que eu te ordeno hoje:
12 That when thou hast eaten and art satisfied, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein;
Para que não aconteça talvez que comas e te fartes, e edifiques boas casas em que mores,
13 And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold are multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied:
E tuas vacas e tuas ovelhas se aumentem, e a prata e o ouro se te multiplique, e tudo o que tiveres se te aumente,
14 Thy heart be then not lifted up, and thou forget the Lord thy God, who hath brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery;
E se eleve logo teu coração, e te esqueças do SENHOR teu Deus, que te tirou da terra do Egito, de casa de servos;
15 Who hath led thee through the great and terrible wilderness, wherein are snakes, poisonous serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there is no water; who hath brought forth for thee water out of the flinty rock;
Que te fez caminhar por um deserto grande e espantoso, de serpentes ardentes, e de escorpiões, e de sede, onde nenhuma água havia, e ele te tirou água da rocha de pederneiras;
16 Who hath fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not; in order to afflict thee, and in order to prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end;
Que te sustentou com maná no deserto, comida que teus pais não conheciam, afligindo-te e provando-te, para ao fim fazer-te bem;
17 And thou say in thy heart, My power and the strength of my hand have gotten me this wealth.
E digas em teu coração: Meu poder e a força de minha mão me trouxeram esta riqueza.
18 But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God; for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth; in order that he might fulfill his covenant which he hath sworn unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
Antes lembra-te do SENHOR teu Deus: porque ele te dá o poder para fazer as riquezas, a fim de confirmar seu pacto que jurou a teus pais, como neste dia.
19 And it shall come to pass, that, if thou shouldst forget the Lord thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and bow thyself down to them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish;
Mas será, se chegares a esquecer-te do SENHOR teu Deus, e andares atrás de deuses alheios, e lhes servires, e a eles te encurvares, atesto-o hoje contra vós, que certamente perecereis.
20 Like the nations which the Lord destroyeth from before you, so shall ye perish; in recompense of that ye would not hearken unto the voice of the Lord your God.
Como as nações que o SENHOR destruirá diante de vós, assim perecereis; porquanto não havereis atendido à voz do SENHOR vosso Deus.
