Deuteronomy 7
1 When the Lord thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Emorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations, greater in number and mightier than thou;
௧“நீ சொந்தமாக்கிக்கொள்ளப்போகிற தேசத்தில் உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா உன்னை நுழையச்செய்து, உன்னைவிட எண்ணிக்கையிலும் பெலத்திலும் மிகுந்த மக்களாகிய ஏத்தியர்கள், கிர்காசியர்கள், எமோரியர்கள், கானானியர்கள், பெரிசியர்கள், ஏவியர்கள், எபூசியர்கள் என்னும் ஏழு பலத்த தேசங்களை உனக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்தி,
2 And when the Lord thy God shall give them up before thee, and thou dost smite them: thou shalt utterly destroy them; thou shalt not make any covenant with them, nor show mercy unto them.
௨உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா அவர்களை உன்னிடத்தில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கும்போது, அவர்களைத் தாக்கி, முற்றிலும் அழித்துவிடவேண்டும்; அவர்களுடன் உடன்படிக்கைசெய்யவும் அவர்களுக்கு மனமிரங்கவும் வேண்டாம்.
3 Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughters shalt thou not give unto his son, and his daughter shalt thou not take unto thy son.
௩அவர்களுடன் சம்பந்தம் ஏற்படுத்தக்கூடாது; உன் மகள்களை அவர்கள் மகன்களுக்குக் கொடுக்காமலும், அவர்களுடைய மகள்களை உன் மகன்களுக்குக் கொள்ளாமலும் இருப்பாயாக.
4 For he would turn away thy son from following me, so that they might serve other gods; and the anger of the Lord would be kindled against you, and he would destroy thee speedily.
௪என்னைப் பின்பற்றாமல், அந்நிய தெய்வங்களை வணங்கும்படி அவர்கள் உன்னுடைய மகன்களை விலகச்செய்வார்கள்; அப்பொழுது யெகோவாவுடைய கோபம் உங்கள்மேல் மூண்டு, உங்களைச் சீக்கிரத்தில் அழிக்கும்.
5 But thus shall ye do unto them: their altars shall ye pull down, and their statues shall ye break, and their groves shall ye cut down, and their graven images shall ye burn with fire.
௫நீங்கள் அவர்களுக்குச் செய்யவேண்டியது என்னவென்றால்: அவர்களுடைய பலிபீடங்களை இடித்து, சிலைகளை உடைத்து, தோப்புகளை வெட்டி, சிலைகளை அக்கினியிலே எரித்துவிடவேண்டும்.
6 For thou art a holy people unto the Lord thy God; of thee the Lord thy God hath made choice to be unto himself a special people, above all the nations that are upon the face of the earth.
௬நீ உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா வுக்குப் பரிசுத்த மக்கள், பூமியிலுள்ள எல்லா மக்களிலும் உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா உன்னைத் தமக்குச் சொந்தமாயிருப்பதற்காகத் தெரிந்துகொண்டார்.
7 Not because ye are more in number than all the nations, did the Lord desire you and make choice of you; for ye are the fewest of all the nations;
௭சகல மக்களிலும் நீங்கள் எண்ணிக்கையில் அதிகமான மக்களென்று யெகோவா உங்கள்மேல் அன்புவைத்து உங்களைத் தெரிந்துகொள்ளவில்லை; நீங்கள் எல்லா மக்களிலும் சிறிய கூட்டமாயிருந்தீர்கள்.
8 But on account of the love of the Lord for you, and because he keepeth the oath which he hath sworn unto your fathers, hath the Lord brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bond-men, out of the hand of Pharaoh the king of Egypt.
௮யெகோவா உங்களில் அன்புசெலுத்தியதாலும், உங்கள் முற்பிதாக்களுக்குக் கொடுத்த வாக்கை நிறைவேற்றவேண்டும் என்பதினாலும்; யெகோவா பலத்த கையினால் உங்களைப் புறப்படச்செய்து, அடிமைத்தன வீடாகிய எகிப்திலிருந்தும், அதின் ராஜாவான பார்வோனின் கையிலிருந்தும் உங்களை மீட்டுக்கொண்டார்.
9 Know then that the Eternal thy God, is the God, the faithful God, who keepeth the covenant and the mercy with those that love him and with those that keep his commandments to the thousandth generation;
௯ஆகையால் உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவே தேவன் என்றும், தம்மில் அன்புவைத்து, தமது கற்பனைகளைக் கைக்கொள்ளுகிறவர்களுக்கு அவர் ஆயிரம் தலைமுறைவரை உடன்படிக்கையையும் தயவையும் காக்கிற உண்மையுள்ள தேவன் என்றும்,
10 And repayeth those that hate him to their face, to destroy them; he will not delay to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face.
௧0தம்மைப் பகைக்கிறவர்களுக்கு வெளிப்படையாகப் பதிலளித்து அவர்களை அழிப்பார் என்றும், தம்மைப் பகைக்கிறவனுக்கு அவர் தாமதியாமல் வெளிப்படையாகப் பதிலளிப்பார் என்றும் நீ அறிவாயாக.
11 Therefore shalt thou keep the commandment, and the statutes, and the ordinances, which I command thee this day, to do them.
௧௧ஆகையால் நீ செய்யும்படி நான் இன்று உனக்குக் கட்டளையிடுகிற கற்பனைகளையும், கட்டளைகளையும், நியாயங்களையும் கைக்கொள்வாயாக.
12 And it shall come to pass in reward for that ye will hearken to these ordinances, and keep, and do them, that the Lord thy God will keep unto thee the covenant and the kindness which he hath sworn unto thy fathers:
௧௨“இந்த நியாயங்களை நீங்கள் கேட்டு, கைக்கொண்டு, அவைகளின்படி செய்வீர்களானால், அப்பொழுது உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா உன் முற்பிதாக்களுக்கு வாக்களித்துக் கொடுத்த உடன்படிக்கையையும் கிருபையையும் உனக்காகக் காத்து,
13 And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee; and he will bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thy oil, the increase of thy cattle, and the young of thy flocks, in the land which he hath sworn unto thy fathers to give unto thee.
௧௩உன்மேல் அன்பு வைத்து, உன்னை ஆசீர்வதித்து, உனக்குக் கொடுப்பேன் என்று உன் முற்பிதாக்களுக்கு வாக்களித்து, கொடுத்த தேசத்தில் உன்னைப் பெருகச்செய்து, உன் கர்ப்பப்பிறப்புகளையும், உன் நிலத்தின் பலன்களாகிய தானியத்தையும், திராட்சைரசத்தையும், எண்ணெயையும், உன் மாடுகளின் பலனையும், ஆட்டுமந்தைகளையும் ஆசீர்வதிப்பார்.
14 Blessed shalt thou be above all the nations; there shall not be a barren male or female among thee, nor among thy cattle.
௧௪சகல மக்களைவிட நீ ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டிருப்பாய்; உங்களுக்குள்ளும் உங்கள் கால்நடைகளுக்குள்ளும் ஆணிலாகிலும் பெண்ணிலாகிலும் மலடு இருப்பதில்லை.
15 And the Lord will take away from thee all sickness; and all the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, will he not put upon thee; but he will lay them upon all those that hate thee.
௧௫யெகோவா சகல நோய்களையும் உன்னை விட்டு விலக்குவார்; உனக்குத் தெரிந்திருக்கிற எகிப்தியர்களின் கொடிய வியாதிகளில் ஒன்றும் உன்மேல் வரச்செய்யாமல், உன்னைப் பகைக்கிற அனைவரின்மேலும் அவைகளை வரச்செய்வார்.
16 And thou shalt consume all the nations which the Lord thy God giveth unto thee; thy eye shall not look with pity upon them: and thou shalt not serve their gods; for that would be a snare unto thee.
௧௬உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா உன்னிடத்தில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கும் சகல மக்களையும் நிர்மூலமாக்கக்கடவாய்; உன் கண் அவர்களுக்கு இரக்கம்காட்டாமல் இருப்பதாக; அவர்கள் தெய்வங்களை நீ வழிபடாமல் இருப்பாயாக; அது உனக்குக் கண்ணியாக இருக்கும்.
17 If thou shouldst say in thy heart, These nations are more numerous than I: how shall I be able to dispossess them?
௧௭“அந்த மக்கள்கூட்டத்தினர் என்னைவிட எண்ணிக்கையில் அதிகமுள்ளவர்கள், நான் அவர்களைத் துரத்திவிடுவது எப்படி என்று உன் இருதயத்தில் சொல்லிக்கொள்வாயானால்,
18 Thou shalt not be afraid of them; [but] thou shalt well remember what the Lord thy God did unto Pharaoh, and unto all Egypt;
௧௮உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா பார்வோனுக்கும் எகிப்தியர்கள் அனைவருக்கும் செய்ததையும்,
19 The great proofs which thy eyes have seen, and the signs, and the wonders, and the mighty hand, and the outstretched arm, whereby the Lord thy God brought thee out: in this wise will the Lord thy God do unto all the people of whom thou art afraid.
௧௯உன்னுடைய கண்கள் கண்ட பெரிய சோதனைகளையும், அடையாளங்களையும், அற்புதங்களையும், உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா உன்னைப் புறப்படச்செய்து காண்பித்த பலத்த கையையும் ஓங்கிய புயத்தையும் நன்றாக நினைத்து, அவர்களுக்குப் பயப்படாதிரு; நீ யாரைப்பார்த்துப் பயப்படுகிறாயோ அவர்களுக்கும் உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா அப்படியே செய்வார்.
20 Moreover the hornet will the Lord thy God send out against them, until they that are left, and hide themselves from thee, be destroyed.
௨0மீதியாயிருந்து உன் கண்களுக்குத்தப்பி ஒளிந்துகொள்ளுகிறவர்களும் அழிந்துபோகும்வரை உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா அவர்களுக்குள்ளே குளவிகளை அனுப்புவார்.
21 Thou shalt not be affrighted at them; for the Lord thy God is in the midst of thee, a mighty and terrible God.
௨௧அவர்களைப் பார்த்து பயப்படவேண்டாம்; உங்கள் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா உங்களுக்குள்ளே இருக்கிறார், அவர் வல்லமையும் பயங்கரமுமான தேவன்.
22 And the Lord thy God will chase out these nations before thee, little by little: thou shalt not be able to make an end of them speedily, lest the beasts of the field increase upon thee.
௨௨அந்த மக்களை உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா கொஞ்சம் கொஞ்சமாக உன்னைவிட்டுத் துரத்திவிடுவார்; நீ அவர்களை ஒரே சமயத்தில் அழிக்கவேண்டாம்; அழித்தால் காட்டுமிருகங்கள் உன்னிடத்தில் பெருகிப்போகும்.
23 And the Lord thy God will give them up before thee, and he will bring among them a mighty confusion, until they be destroyed.
௨௩உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா அவர்களை உன்னிடத்தில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்து, அவர்கள் அழியும்வரை அவர்களை மிகவும் கலங்கடிப்பார்.
24 And he will give their kings into thy hand, and thou shalt destroy their name from under the heavens: no man shall be able to stand up before thee, until thou have destroyed them.
௨௪அவர்களுடைய ராஜாக்களை உன் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பார்; அவர்களுடைய பெயர் வானத்தின்கீழ் இராதபடி அவர்களை அழிக்கக்கடவாய்; நீ அவர்களை அழித்துமுடியும்வரை ஒருவரும் உனக்கு எதிர்த்து நிற்கமாட்டார்கள்.
25 The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not covet the silver or gold that is on them, so that thou wouldst take it unto thyself, lest thou be ensnared thereby; for it is an abomination to the Lord thy God.
௨௫அவர்களுடைய தெய்வங்களின் சிலைகளை அக்கினியினால் சுட்டெரிக்கக்கடவாய்; நீ அவைகளால் சிக்கிக்கொள்ளாதபடி, அவைகளில் இருக்கிற வெள்ளியையும், பொன்னையும் ஆசைப்படாமலும், அதை எடுத்துக்கொள்ளாமலும் இருப்பாயாக; அவைகள் உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவுக்கு அருவருப்பானவைகள்.
26 And thou shalt not bring an abomination into thy house, lest thou become accursed like it: thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is accursed.
௨௬அவைகளைப்போல நீ சாபத்திற்குள்ளாகாதபடி அருவருப்பானதை உன் வீட்டிற்குக் கொண்டுபோகாதே; அதைச் சீ என்று வெறுத்து முற்றிலும் அருவருப்பாயாக, அது சாபத்திற்குள்ளானது.
