Deuteronomy 6
1 And this is the commandment, with the statutes, and the ordinances, which the Lord your God hath commanded to teach you, to do them in the land whither ye are passing over to possess it:
Estos son los mandamientos, los estatutos y los decretos que Yahvé, tu Dios, te ha mandado enseñar, para que los pongas en práctica en la tierra que vas a poseer;
2 In order that you mayest fear the Lord thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and in order that thy days may be prolonged.
para que temas a Yahvé, tu Dios, y guardes todos sus estatutos y sus mandamientos, que yo te mando a ti, a tu hijo y al hijo de tu hijo, todos los días de tu vida, y para que tus días se prolonguen.
3 Hear, therefore, O Israel, and observe to do them; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase greatly, as the Lord the God of thy fathers hath spoken to thee, [in] the land flowing with milk and honey.
Escucha, pues, Israel, y procura ponerlo por obra, para que te vaya bien y te multipliques, como Yahvé, el Dios de tus padres, te ha prometido, en una tierra que mana leche y miel.
4 Hear, O Israel! The Lord, our God, is the One Eternal Being.
Escucha, Israel: Yahvé es nuestro Dios. Yahvé es uno.
5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
Amarás a Yahvé vuestro Dios con todo tu corazón, con toda tu alma y con todas tus fuerzas.
6 And these words which I command thee this day, shall be in thy heart:
Estas palabras que hoy te ordeno estarán en tu corazón;
7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and thou shalt speak of them when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
y las enseñarás con diligencia a tus hijos, y hablarás de ellas cuando te sientes en tu casa, cuando andes por el camino, cuando te acuestes y cuando te levantes.
8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thy hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thy eyes.
Las atarás como señal en tu mano, y serán como frontales entre tus ojos.
9 And thou shalt write them upon the door-posts of thy house, and upon thy gates.
Las escribirás en los postes de tu casa y en tus puertas.
10 And it shall be, when the Lord thy God shall bring thee into the land which he hath sworn unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give unto thee, great and goodly cities, which thou didst not build,
Cuando Yahvé, tu Dios, te lleve a la tierra que juró a tus padres, a Abraham, a Isaac y a Jacob, que te daría, ciudades grandes y buenas que no construiste,
11 And houses full of all good things, which thou didst not fill, and wells hewed out which thou didst not hew, vineyards and olive-trees, which thou didst not plant; and thou hast eaten and art satisfied:
y casas llenas de todo lo bueno que no llenaste, y cisternas excavadas que no cavaste, viñas y olivos que no plantaste, comerás y te saciarás;
12 Then beware that thou do not forget the Lord, who hath brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery.
entonces ten cuidado de no olvidarte de Yahvé, que te sacó de la tierra de Egipto, de la casa de servidumbre.
13 The Lord thy God shalt thou fear, and him shalt thou serve, and by his name shalt thou swear.
Temerás a Yahvé, tu Dios, y le servirás, y jurarás por su nombre.
14 Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the nations which are round about you;
No irás en pos de otros dioses, de los dioses de los pueblos que te rodean,
15 For the Lord thy God is a watchful God among you: so that the anger of the Lord thy God may not be kindled against thee, and he destroy thee from off the face of the earth.
porque Yahvé vuestro Dios en medio de ti es un Dios celoso, no sea que la ira de Yahvé vuestro Dios se encienda contra ti y te destruya de la faz de la tierra.
16 Ye shall not tempt the Lord your God, as ye tempted him in Massah.
No tentarás a Yahvé vuestro Dios, como lo tentaste en Masá.
17 Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee.
Guardarás con diligencia los mandamientos de Yahvé vuestro Dios, sus testimonios y sus estatutos, que él te ha ordenado.
18 And thou shalt do that which is right and good in the eyes of the Lord; in order that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest go in and take possession of the good land which the Lord hath sworn unto thy fathers,
Harás lo que es justo y bueno a los ojos de Yahvé, para que te vaya bien y entres a poseer la buena tierra que Yahvé juró a tus padres,
19 To cast out all thy enemies from before thee; as the Lord hath spoken.
para echar a todos tus enemigos de delante de ti, como Yahvé ha dicho.
20 When thy son should ask thee in time to come, saying, What mean the testimonies, and the statutes, and the ordinances, which the Lord our God hath commanded you?
Cuando tu hijo te pregunte en el futuro, diciendo: “¿Qué significan los testimonios, los estatutos y las ordenanzas que el Señor, nuestro Dios, te ha ordenado?”
21 Then shalt thou say unto thy son, We were bondmen unto Pharaoh in Egypt; and the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand;
entonces le dirás a tu hijo: “Fuimos esclavos del Faraón en Egipto. Yahvé nos sacó de Egipto con mano poderosa;
22 And the Lord let come signs and wonders, great and sore, on Egypt, on Pharaoh, and on all his household, before our eyes;
y Yahvé hizo grandes y asombrosas señales y prodigios sobre Egipto, sobre el Faraón y sobre toda su casa, ante nuestros ojos;
23 And us he brought out from there; in order to bring us in, to give us the land which he had sworn unto our fathers.
y nos sacó de allí para introducirnos en ella, para darnos la tierra que juró a nuestros padres.
24 And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God; that it might be well with us at all times, and that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.
Yahvé nos mandó hacer todos estos estatutos, para temer a Yahvé nuestro Dios, para nuestro bien siempre, para que nos conserve la vida, como hoy.
25 And it shall be accounted righteousness unto us, if we observe to do all this commandment before the Lord our God, as he hath commanded us.
Será justo para nosotros, si observamos poner en práctica todos estos mandamientos delante de Yahvé nuestro Dios, como él nos ha mandado.”
