Deuteronomy 3
1 And we turned, and went up the way to Bashan; and 'Og the king of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, to the battle at Edre'i.
അതിനുശേഷം നാം തിരിഞ്ഞ് ബാശാനിലേക്കുള്ള വഴിയേ കയറിപ്പോയി. അപ്പോൾ ബാശാൻരാജാവായ ഓഗും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സർവസൈന്യവും നമ്മുടെനേരേവന്ന് എദ്രെയിൽവെച്ചു യുദ്ധംചെയ്തു.
2 And the Lord said unto me, Fear him not; for into thy hand have I given him, and all his people, and his land; and thou shalt do unto him as thou hast done unto Sichon, the king of the Emorites, who dwelt at Cheshbon.
അപ്പോൾ യഹോവ എന്നോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചു: “അവനെ ഭയപ്പെടരുത്; ഞാൻ അവനെ അവന്റെ സർവസൈന്യത്തോടും അവന്റെ ദേശത്തോടുംകൂടി നിന്റെ കൈയിൽ ഏൽപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ഹെശ്ബോനിൽ വാണിരുന്ന അമോര്യരാജാവായ സീഹോനോടു ചെയ്തതുതന്നെ നീ അവനോടും ചെയ്യുക.”
3 And the Lord our God gave into our hands also 'Og the king of Bashan, and all his people; and we smote him until none was left to him who escaped.
ഇപ്രകാരം നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ബാശാൻരാജാവായ ഓഗിനെയും അവന്റെ സകലസൈന്യത്തെയും നമ്മുടെ കൈയിൽ ഏൽപ്പിച്ചുതന്നു. ആരും ശേഷിക്കാതവണ്ണം നാം അവരെ സംഹരിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
4 And we conquered all his cities at that time, there was not a city which we took not from them, sixty cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of 'Og in Bashan.
അന്നു നാം അവന്റെ സകലപട്ടണങ്ങളും പിടിച്ചെടുത്തു; ബാശാനിലെ ഓഗിന്റെ രാജ്യത്തിലുള്ള അറുപതു പട്ടണങ്ങൾ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന അർഗോബ് മുഴുവൻ പിടിച്ചെടുത്തു. നാം അവരിൽനിന്നു പിടിച്ചെടുക്കാത്ത ഒരു പട്ടണവും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല.
5 all these were fortified cities, with high walls, gates, and bars; besides the unwalled towns, which were a great many.
ആ പട്ടണങ്ങൾ എല്ലാം ഉയരമുള്ള മതിലുകളും കവാടങ്ങളും ഓടാമ്പലുകളുംകൊണ്ട് ഉറപ്പാക്കിയിരുന്നു. ഇവകൂടാതെ മതിലില്ലാത്ത നിരവധി ഗ്രാമങ്ങളും അവിടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
6 And we devoted them, as we had done unto Sichon the king of Cheshbon, devoting every inhabited city, the women, and the little ones.
ഹെശ്ബോൻരാജാവായ സീഹോനോടു ചെയ്തതുപോലെ നാം ബാശാന്റെ രാജ്യം പട്ടണങ്ങൾതോറും—പുരുഷന്മാരെയും സ്ത്രീകളെയും കുട്ടികളെയും—നിശ്ശേഷം നശിപ്പിച്ചു.
7 But all the cattle, and the spoil of the cities, we took as booty to ourselves.
എന്നാൽ എല്ലാ പട്ടണങ്ങളിൽനിന്നുമുള്ള വളർത്തുമൃഗങ്ങൾ, കൊള്ളമുതൽ എന്നിവ നാം കൈവശപ്പെടുത്തി.
8 And we took at that time out of the hand of the two kings of the Emorites the land which is on this side of the Jordan, from the river of Arnon unto mount Chermon;
ഇങ്ങനെ നാം അമോര്യരുടെ രണ്ടു രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെയും കൈയിൽനിന്ന് യോർദാൻനദിക്ക് കിഴക്ക് അർന്നോൻതാഴ്വരമുതൽ ഹെർമോൻപർവതംവരെയുള്ള ഭൂപ്രദേശം അന്നു പിടിച്ചടക്കി.
9 (The Sidonians call Chermon Siryon; and the Emorites call it Senir; )
സീദോന്യർ ഹെർമോനെ ശിര്യോൻ എന്നും അമോര്യർ സെനീർ എന്നും വിളിച്ചുവന്നു.
10 All the cities of the plain, and all Gil'ad, and all Bashan, unto Salchah and Edrei, the cities of the kingdom of 'Og in Bashan.
പീഠഭൂമിയിലെ സകലപട്ടണങ്ങളും ഗിലെയാദ് മുഴുവനും ബാശാനിലെ ഓഗിന്റെ രാജ്യത്തിലുള്ള സൽക്കാ, എദ്രെയി എന്നീ പട്ടണങ്ങൾ ഉൾപ്പെടെ ബാശാൻ രാജ്യംമുഴുവനും നാം പിടിച്ചെടുത്തു.
11 For only 'Og the king of Bashan had been left of the remnant of the Rephaim; behold, his bedstead was a bedstead of iron; lo! it is in Rabbah of the children of 'Ammon: nine cubits is its length, and four cubits its breadth, after the arm of a man.
മല്ലന്മാരിൽ ശേഷിച്ചത് ബാശാൻരാജാവായ ഓഗുമാത്രമായിരുന്നു. അമ്മോന്യനഗരമായ രബ്ബയിൽ ഇരുമ്പുകൊണ്ട് പൊതിഞ്ഞ അവന്റെ കല്ലറയുണ്ട്. അതിന്റെ നീളം പുരുഷന്റെ കൈക്ക് ഒൻപതുമുഴവും വീതി നാലുമുഴവും ആയിരുന്നു.
12 And of this land, of which we took possession at that time, from 'Aro'er, which is by the river Arnon, and half mount Gil'ad, and the cities thereof, I gave unto the Reubenites and to the Gadites.
അന്ന് ഈ രാജ്യം നാം സ്വന്തമാക്കിയപ്പോൾ അർന്നോൻ താഴ്വരയുടെ സമീപത്തുള്ള അരോയേർമുതൽ മലനാടായ ഗിലെയാദിന്റെ പകുതിയും അവിടെയുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങളും ഞാൻ രൂബേന്യർക്കും ഗാദ്യർക്കുമായി കൊടുത്തു.
13 And the rest of Gil'ad, and all Bashan, the kingdom of 'Og, I gave unto the half tribe of Menasseh: all the region of Argob, with all Bashan, this is called the land of Rephaim.
ഓഗിന്റെ ഭരണത്തിൻകീഴിലായിരുന്ന ബാശാൻമുഴുവനും ഗിലെയാദിൽ ശേഷിച്ചഭാഗവും മനശ്ശെയുടെ പാതിഗോത്രത്തിനു ഞാൻ കൊടുത്തു. ബാശാനിലെ അർഗോബുദേശം മുഴുവനും മല്ലന്മാരുടെ നാട് എന്നാണ് അറിയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നത്.
14 Yair the son of Menasseh took all the region of Argob up to the border of the Geshurites and the Ma-'achathites; and he called them the [land of] Bashan, after his own name, the villages of Yair, unto this day.
മനശ്ശെഗോത്രത്തിൽനിന്നുള്ള യായീർ ഗെശൂര്യരുടെയും മാഖാത്യരുടെയും അതിരുവരെയുള്ള അർഗോബ് ദേശംമുഴുവനും പിടിച്ചെടുത്തു, അതിന് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പേരിനനുസരിച്ച് ഹാവോത്ത്-യായീർ എന്നു പേരുനൽകി; അതുകൊണ്ട് ബാശാന് ഇന്നുവരെ ആ പേര് വിളിച്ചുവരുന്നു.
15 And unto Machir I gave Gil'ad.
ഞാൻ മാഖീർകുലത്തിന് ഗിലെയാദ് കൊടുത്തു.
16 And unto the Reubenites and unto the Gadites I gave from Gil'ad even unto the brook Arnon, the land within the river and that adjoining, even unto the brook Yabbok, the border of the children of 'Ammon;
ഗിലെയാദുമുതൽ അർന്നോൻ താഴ്വരയുടെ മധ്യഭാഗംവരെ അതിരായും അമ്മോന്യരുടെ അതിർത്തിയായ യാബ്ബോക്കുനദിവരെയും
17 The plain also, and the Jordan, and the adjoining land, from Kinnereth even unto the sea of the plain, the Salt Sea, under the declivities of Pisgah, eastward.
കിന്നെരെത്തുമുതൽ കിഴക്കുഭാഗത്ത് പിസ്ഗായുടെ ചെരിവിൽ അരാബയിലെ ഉപ്പുകടൽ എന്ന അരാബാക്കടലും പടിഞ്ഞാറേ അതിർത്തിയായി യോർദാൻനദിയും ഞാൻ രൂബേന്യർക്കും ഗാദ്യർക്കും അവകാശമായി കൊടുത്തു.
18 And I commanded you at that time, saying, The Lord your God hath given you this land to possess it: armed shall ye pass over before your brethren the children of Israel, all that are fit to bear arms.
അക്കാലത്തു ഞാൻ യോർദാൻനദിക്ക് കിഴക്ക് താമസിക്കുന്നവരായ നിങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഈ ദേശം നിങ്ങൾക്ക് അവകാശമായി നൽകിയിരിക്കുന്നു. നിങ്ങളുടെയിടയിൽ യുദ്ധപ്രാപ്തരായ എല്ലാവരും ഇസ്രായേല്യരായ നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെമുമ്പിൽ യുദ്ധംചെയ്യാൻ സന്നദ്ധരായി അണിനിരക്കണം.
19 But your wives, and your little ones, and your cattle, (I know that ye have much cattle, ) shall abide in your cities which I have given you;
നിങ്ങളുടെ ഭാര്യമാരും കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളും ആടുമാടുകളും ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു നൽകിയിട്ടുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങളിൽ താമസിച്ചുകൊള്ളട്ടെ. നിങ്ങൾക്കു വളരെ ആടുമാടുകൾ ഉണ്ടെന്ന് എനിക്കറിയാം.
20 Until that the Lord have given rest unto your brethren, as well as unto you, and they also have taken possession of the land which the Lord your God giveth them beyond the Jordan: then shall ye return every man unto his possession which I have given you.
യഹോവ നിങ്ങൾക്കു സ്വസ്ഥത നൽകിയതുപോലെ യഹോവയായ ദൈവം യോർദാനക്കരെ നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്മാർക്കും അവകാശമായി കൊടുക്കുന്ന ദേശം കൈവശപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതുവരെയാണിത്. അതിനുശേഷം നിങ്ങൾക്കു നിങ്ങളുടെ അവകാശത്തിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകാം.”
21 And Joshua also I commanded at that time, saying, Thy own eyes have seen all that the Lord your God hath done unto these two kings: thus will the Lord do unto all the kingdoms whither thou passest.
അക്കാലത്തു ഞാൻ യോശുവയോട് ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞു: “നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ആ രണ്ടു രാജാക്കന്മാരോടു ചെയ്തതെല്ലാം നീ വ്യക്തമായി കണ്ടല്ലോ. നീ കൈവശമാക്കാൻചെല്ലുന്ന സകലരാജ്യങ്ങളോടും യഹോവ അങ്ങനെതന്നെ ചെയ്യും.
22 Ye shall not fear them; for the Lord your God it is who fighteth for you.
നിങ്ങൾ അവരെ ഭയപ്പെടരുത്. നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവതന്നെ നിങ്ങൾക്കുവേണ്ടി യുദ്ധംചെയ്യും.”
23 And I besought the Lord at that time, saying,
ആ സമയത്ത് ഞാൻ യഹോവയോട് ഇപ്രകാരം പ്രാർഥിച്ചു:
24 O Lord Eternal, thou hast begun to show thy servant thy greatness, and thy mighty hand; for what God is there in heaven or on earth, that can do aught like thy works, and like thy mighty deeds?
“കർത്താവായ യഹോവേ, അവിടത്തെ മഹിമയും ഭുജബലവും അടിയനെ കാണിച്ചുതുടങ്ങിയല്ലോ. അങ്ങയുടെ പ്രവൃത്തികൾപോലെയും അങ്ങയുടെ അത്ഭുതങ്ങൾപോലെയും ചെയ്യാൻ കഴിയുന്ന ദേവൻ സ്വർഗത്തിലും ഭൂമിയിലും വേറെ ഇല്ലല്ലോ.
25 Let me go over, I pray thee, that I may see the good land which is on the other side of the Jordan, this goodly mountain, and the Lebanon.
യോർദാന് അക്കരെയുള്ള നല്ല പ്രദേശങ്ങളും മനോഹരമായ പർവതവും ലെബാനോനും ഞാൻ പോയി കണ്ടുകൊള്ളട്ടെ!”
26 But the Lord was wroth with me for your sakes, and he would not hear me: and the Lord said unto me, Let it suffice thee; do not continue to speak unto me any more of this matter.
എന്നാൽ യഹോവ നിങ്ങൾനിമിത്തം എന്നോടു കോപിച്ചിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ട് എന്റെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടില്ല. യഹോവ എന്നോട്, “മതി, ഈ കാര്യം ഇനിയും എന്നോടു സംസാരിക്കരുത്.
27 Get thee up unto the top of Pisgah, and lift up thy eyes, westward, and northward, and southward, and eastward, and behold it with thy eyes; for thou shalt not pass over this Jordan.
പിസ്ഗായുടെ മുകളിൽ കയറിനിന്ന് പടിഞ്ഞാറോട്ടും വടക്കോട്ടും തെക്കോട്ടും കിഴക്കോട്ടും നിന്റെ സ്വന്തം കണ്ണുകൊണ്ടുതന്നെ നോക്കിക്കൊൾക, എന്നാൽ ഈ യോർദാൻനദി നീ കടക്കുകയില്ല.
28 And do thou charge Joshua, and strengthen him, and encourage him; for he shall go over before this people, and he shall divide out to them the land which thou shalt see.
പകരം യോശുവയ്ക്ക് അധികാരംനൽകി അവനെ പ്രോത്സാഹിപ്പിച്ച് ഉറപ്പുള്ളവനാക്കുക; അവന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിലായിരിക്കും ഈ ജനത അക്കരെ എത്തുക. നീ കാണുന്ന ഈ ദേശം അവൻ അവർക്ക് അവകാശമായി പങ്കിട്ടുകൊടുക്കും” എന്ന് യഹോവ എന്നോട് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
29 And we abode in the valley opposite Beth-peor.
അങ്ങനെ നാം ബേത്-പെയോരിന് എതിർവശത്തുള്ള താഴ്വരയിൽ താമസിച്ചു.
