Deuteronomy 3

1 And we turned, and went up the way to Bashan; and 'Og the king of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, to the battle at Edre'i.

Als wir uns aber wandten und den Weg nach Basan hinaufzogen, rückte Og, der König zu Basan, uns entgegen mit seinem ganzen Volk, um bei Edrei zu streiten.

2 And the Lord said unto me, Fear him not; for into thy hand have I given him, and all his people, and his land; and thou shalt do unto him as thou hast done unto Sichon, the king of the Emorites, who dwelt at Cheshbon.

Da sprach der HERR zu mir: Fürchte dich nicht vor ihm, denn ich habe ihn und sein ganzes Volk samt seinem Lande in deine Hand gegeben, und du sollst mit ihm tun, wie du mit Sihon, dem König der Amoriter, getan hast, der zu Hesbon wohnte.

3 And the Lord our God gave into our hands also 'Og the king of Bashan, and all his people; and we smote him until none was left to him who escaped.

Also gab der HERR, unser Gott, auch den König Og zu Basan in unsere Hand, samt seinem ganzen Volk; so schlugen wir ihn, daß keiner entrann und übrigblieb.

4 And we conquered all his cities at that time, there was not a city which we took not from them, sixty cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of 'Og in Bashan.

Und wir gewannen zu jener Zeit alle seine Städte, die ganze Gegend Argob, das Königreich Ogs zu Basan.

5 all these were fortified cities, with high walls, gates, and bars; besides the unwalled towns, which were a great many.

Alle diese Städte waren fest, mit hohen Mauern, Toren und Riegeln versehen; außerdem hatte es sehr viele andere Flecken ohne Mauern.

6 And we devoted them, as we had done unto Sichon the king of Cheshbon, devoting every inhabited city, the women, and the little ones.

Und wir vollstreckten an ihnen den Bann, wie wir es mit Sihon, dem König zu Hesbon, gemacht hatten; an allen Städten vollstreckten wir den Bann, dazu an allen Männern, Weibern und Kindern.

7 But all the cattle, and the spoil of the cities, we took as booty to ourselves.

Aber alles Vieh und die Beute aller Städte raubten wir für uns.

8 And we took at that time out of the hand of the two kings of the Emorites the land which is on this side of the Jordan, from the river of Arnon unto mount Chermon;

Also nahmen wir zu der Zeit das Land aus der Hand der zwei Könige der Amoriter, diesseits des Jordan, vom Arnon bis an den Berg Hermon

9 (The Sidonians call Chermon Siryon; and the Emorites call it Senir; )

(die Zidonier hießen den Hermon Sirjon, aber die Amoriter hießen ihn Senir),

10 All the cities of the plain, and all Gil'ad, and all Bashan, unto Salchah and Edrei, the cities of the kingdom of 'Og in Bashan.

alle Städte auf Ebene und ganz Gilead und ganz Basan, bis gen Salcha und Edrei, die Städte des Königreichs Ogs zu Basan.

11 For only 'Og the king of Bashan had been left of the remnant of the Rephaim; behold, his bedstead was a bedstead of iron; lo! it is in Rabbah of the children of 'Ammon: nine cubits is its length, and four cubits its breadth, after the arm of a man.

(Denn der König Og zu Basan war allein noch übrig von den Rephaitern. Siehe, sein Bett, ein eisernes Bett, ist es nicht zu Rabbat der Kinder Ammon? Es ist neun Ellen lang und vier Ellen breit, nach der Elle eines Mannes.)

12 And of this land, of which we took possession at that time, from 'Aro'er, which is by the river Arnon, and half mount Gil'ad, and the cities thereof, I gave unto the Reubenites and to the Gadites.

Dieses Land nahmen wir zu der Zeit ein von Aroer an, die am Arnon liegt. Und ich gab das halbe Gebirge Gilead samt seinen Städten den Rubenitern und Gaditern.

13 And the rest of Gil'ad, and all Bashan, the kingdom of 'Og, I gave unto the half tribe of Menasseh: all the region of Argob, with all Bashan, this is called the land of Rephaim.

Aber das übrige Gilead und ganz Basan, das Königreich Ogs, gab ich dem halben Stamm Manasse, die ganze Gegend Argob; das ganze Basan hieß das Land der Rephaiter.

14 Yair the son of Menasseh took all the region of Argob up to the border of the Geshurites and the Ma-'achathites; and he called them the [land of] Bashan, after his own name, the villages of Yair, unto this day.

(Jair, der Sohn Manasses, nahm die ganze Gegend Argob ein, bis an die Marke der Gesuriter und der Maachatiter, und nannte Basan nach seinem Namen «Jairs-Dörfer», wie sie bis auf den heutigen Tag heißen.)

15 And unto Machir I gave Gil'ad.

Dem Machir aber gab ich Gilead.

16 And unto the Reubenites and unto the Gadites I gave from Gil'ad even unto the brook Arnon, the land within the river and that adjoining, even unto the brook Yabbok, the border of the children of 'Ammon;

Und den Rubenitern und Gaditern gab ich [das Land] von Gilead bis an den Bach Arnon, der mitten im Tal die Grenze bildet, und bis an den Jabbok, den Grenzfluß der Kinder Ammon,

17 The plain also, and the Jordan, and the adjoining land, from Kinnereth even unto the sea of the plain, the Salt Sea, under the declivities of Pisgah, eastward.

dazu die Ebene und den Jordan, welcher die Grenze bildet vom [See] Genezareth bis an das Meer der Ebene, nämlich das Salzmeer, unterhalb der Abhänge des Pisga, welcher östlich davon liegt.

18 And I commanded you at that time, saying, The Lord your God hath given you this land to possess it: armed shall ye pass over before your brethren the children of Israel, all that are fit to bear arms.

Und ich gebot euch zu der Zeit und sprach: Der HERR, euer Gott, hat euch dieses Land zum Besitztum gegeben; so zieht nun gerüstet vor euren Brüdern, den Kindern Israel her, alle streitbaren Männer.

19 But your wives, and your little ones, and your cattle, (I know that ye have much cattle, ) shall abide in your cities which I have given you;

Aber eure Weiber und Kinder und euer Vieh (denn ich weiß, daß ihr viel Vieh habt) lasset in den Städten bleiben, die ich euch gegeben habe,

20 Until that the Lord have given rest unto your brethren, as well as unto you, and they also have taken possession of the land which the Lord your God giveth them beyond the Jordan: then shall ye return every man unto his possession which I have given you.

bis der HERR auch eure Brüder zur Ruhe bringt, wie euch, bis auch sie das Land einnehmen, das ihnen der HERR, euer Gott, jenseits des Jordan gibt; und alsdann sollt ihr wiederkehren, ein jeder zu seinem Besitztum, das ich euch gegeben habe.

21 And Joshua also I commanded at that time, saying, Thy own eyes have seen all that the Lord your God hath done unto these two kings: thus will the Lord do unto all the kingdoms whither thou passest.

Und dem Josua gebot ich zu jener Zeit und sprach: Deine Augen haben alles gesehen, was der HERR, euer Gott, diesen beiden Königen getan hat; also wird der HERR allen Königreichen tun, wohin du hinüberziehen wirst.

22 Ye shall not fear them; for the Lord your God it is who fighteth for you.

Fürchtet euch nicht vor ihnen; denn der HERR, euer Gott, streitet für euch!

23 And I besought the Lord at that time, saying,

Und ich flehte zum HERRN um Gnade zu jener Zeit und sprach:

24 O Lord Eternal, thou hast begun to show thy servant thy greatness, and thy mighty hand; for what God is there in heaven or on earth, that can do aught like thy works, and like thy mighty deeds?

Ach, HERR, HERR, du hast angefangen, deinem Knechte zu zeigen deine Majestät und deine starke Hand; denn wo ist ein Gott im Himmel und auf Erden, der es deinen Werken und deiner Macht gleichtun könnte?

25 Let me go over, I pray thee, that I may see the good land which is on the other side of the Jordan, this goodly mountain, and the Lebanon.

Laß mich doch hinübergehen und das gute Land sehen jenseits des Jordan, dieses gute Gebirge und den Libanon!

26 But the Lord was wroth with me for your sakes, and he would not hear me: and the Lord said unto me, Let it suffice thee; do not continue to speak unto me any more of this matter.

Aber der HERR war zornig über mich um euretwillen und erhörte mich nicht, sondern der HERR sprach zu mir: Laß es genug sein! Sage mir kein Wort mehr in dieser Sache!

27 Get thee up unto the top of Pisgah, and lift up thy eyes, westward, and northward, and southward, and eastward, and behold it with thy eyes; for thou shalt not pass over this Jordan.

Steig auf den Gipfel des Pisga und hebe deine Augen auf gegen Abend und gegen Mitternacht und gegen Mittag und gegen Morgen, und beschaue es mit deinen Augen; denn du wirst nicht über diesen Jordan gehen.

28 And do thou charge Joshua, and strengthen him, and encourage him; for he shall go over before this people, and he shall divide out to them the land which thou shalt see.

Und gebiete dem Josua, stärke ihn und schärfe ihm ein, daß er hinüberziehe vor dem Volk und ihnen das Land, das du sehen wirst, zum Erbe austeile.

29 And we abode in the valley opposite Beth-peor.

Also blieben wir im Tal, Beth-Peor gegenüber.
