Deuteronomy 27

1 And Moses with the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, Keep the whole commandment which I command you this day.

Musa dan para pemimpin Israel berkata kepada seluruh umat, “Taatilah semua perintah yang saya berikan kepada kalian hari ini.

2 And it shall be on the day when ye pass over the Jordan unto the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, that thou shalt set up for thyself great stones, and cover them with plaster;

Sesuai dengan janji TUHAN Allah kepada nenek moyang kita, sebentar lagi kalian akan menyeberangi sungai Yordan dan memasuki negeri yang TUHAN serahkan kepada kalian. Sesudah kalian masuk ke negeri yang kaya dan subur itu, dirikanlah beberapa batu besar di gunung Ebal, lapisilah dengan labur, dan tuliskan semua hukum ini pada batu-batu itu.

3 And thou shalt write upon them all the words of this law, so soon as thou art passed over; in order that thou mayest go in unto the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, a land flowing with milk and honey; as the Lord, the God of thy fathers, hath spoken unto thee.

4 And it shall be so soon as ye are gone over the Jordan, that ye shall set up these stones, which I command you this day, on mount 'Ebal; and thou shalt cover them with plaster.

5 And thou shalt build there an altar unto the Lord thy God, an altar of stones: thou shalt not lift up any iron tool upon them.

Di sana, buatlah juga mezbah dari batu bagi TUHAN. Jangan memahat batu-batu itu dengan alat-alat besi.

6 Of whole stones shalt thou build the altar of the Lord thy God; and thou shalt offer thereupon burnt-offerings unto the Lord thy God;

Mezbah itu harus dibuat dari batu-batu yang utuh. Lalu gunakanlah mezbah itu untuk mempersembahkan banyak kurban yang dibakar habis dan kurban tanda damai kepada TUHAN. Adakanlah perjamuan dari persembahan kurban itu, dan bersukacitalah di hadapan TUHAN Allah kita.

7 And thou shalt slay peace-offerings, and eat [them] there; and thou shalt rejoice before the Lord thy God.

8 And thou shalt write upon the statues all the words of this law, very plainly.

Jangan lupa, tulislah semua hukum ini di atas batu-batu itu dengan sejelas-jelasnya.”

9 And Moses with the priests, the Levites, spoke unto all Israel, saying, Be attentive, and hearken, O Israel! this day art thou become a people unto the Lord thy God.

Kemudian Musa memberikan pesan-pesan berikut ini kepada para imam untuk mengumumkan kepada seluruh umat Israel, “Hai umat Israel, diamlah dan dengarkan: Hari ini kalian sudah menjadi umat milik TUHAN Allah,

10 Thou shalt therefore hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and do his commandments and his statutes, which I command thee this day.

maka kalian harus menaati Dia dengan melakukan semua peraturan dan ketetapan-Nya yang hari ini saya sampaikan kepada kalian.”

11 And Moses commanded the people on the same day, saying,

Pada hari itu Musa menyuruh umat Israel,

12 These shall stand upon mount Gerizzim to bless the people, when ye are come over the Jordan: Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin.

“Sesudah kalian menyeberangi sungai Yordan, lakukanlah upacara ini: Suku Simeon, Lewi, Yehuda, Isakar, Yusuf, dan Benyamin akan berdiri di atas gunung Gerizim dan menyerukan berbagai berkat atas bangsa Israel apabila menaati TUHAN.

13 And these shall stand for the sake of the curse upon mount 'Ebal: Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.

Sementara suku Ruben, Gad, Asyer, Zebulon, Dan, dan Naftali akan berdiri di atas gunung Ebal dan menanggapi kutukan atas bangsa Israel apabila tidak menaati TUHAN.

14 And the Levites shall commence, and say unto all the men of Israel with a loud voice,

“Pada waktu itu, orang Lewi harus meneriakkan kata-kata ini dengan lantang kepada seluruh umat Israel,

15 Cursed be the man who maketh a graven or molten image, the abomination of the Lord, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and putteth it in a secret place; and all the people shall answer, and say, Amen.

‘Terkutuklah orang yang membuat patung berhala dari batu, kayu, atau logam, dan diam-diam memasangnya serta memujanya. TUHAN membenci berhala.’ Dan seluruh umat akan menjawab, ‘Amin.’

16 Cursed be he that holdeth in light esteem his father or his mother; and all the people shall say, Amen.

‘Terkutuklah orang yang memperlakukan ayah atau ibunya dengan tidak hormat.’ Dan seluruh umat akan menjawab, ‘Amin.’

17 Cursed be he that removeth the landmark of his neighbor; and all the people shall say, Amen.

‘Terkutuklah orang yang mencuri tanah tetangganya dengan memindahkan tanda batas tanahnya.’ Dan seluruh umat akan menjawab, ‘Amin.’

18 Cursed be he that causeth the blind to wander out of the way; and all the people shall say, Amen.

‘Terkutuklah orang yang mengarahkan orang buta ke jalan yang salah.’ Dan seluruh umat akan menjawab, ‘Amin.’

19 Cursed be he that perverteth the cause of the stranger, of the fatherless, and of the widow; and all the people shall say, Amen.

‘Terkutuklah orang yang merampas hak pendatang, anak yatim, atau janda.’ Dan seluruh umat akan menjawab, ‘Amin.’

20 Cursed be he that lieth with his father's wife; because he uncovereth his father's skirt; and all the people shall say, Amen.

‘Terkutuklah laki-laki yang menghina ayahnya dengan cara bersetubuh dengan salah satu istri ayahnya.’ Dan seluruh umat akan menjawab, ‘Amin.’

21 Cursed be he that lieth with any manner of beast; and all the people shall say, Amen.

‘Terkutuklah orang yang bersetubuh dengan binatang.’ Dan seluruh umat akan menjawab, ‘Amin.’

22 Cursed be he that lieth with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother; and all the people shall say, Amen.

‘Terkutuklah orang yang bersetubuh dengan saudara perempuannya, baik saudara kandung maupun saudara tirinya.’ Dan seluruh umat akan menjawab, ‘Amin.’

23 Cursed be he that lieth with his mother-in-law; and all the people shall say, Amen.

‘Terkutuklah orang yang bersetubuh dengan ibu mertuanya.’ Dan seluruh umat akan menjawab, ‘Amin.’

24 Cursed be he that smiteth his neighbor secretly; and all the people shall say, Amen.

‘Terkutuklah orang yang dengan diam-diam membunuh sesamanya.’ Dan seluruh umat akan menjawab, ‘Amin.’

25 Cursed be he that taketh a bribe to slay a person, an innocent blood; and all the people shall say, Amen.

‘Terkutuklah orang yang menerima uang suap untuk membunuh orang yang tidak bersalah.’ Dan seluruh umat akan menjawab, ‘Amin.’

26 Cursed be he that executeth not the words of this law to do them; and all the people shall say, Amen.

‘Terkutuklah orang yang tidak menjunjung tinggi dan tidak taat kepada seluruh hukum ini.’ Dan seluruh umat akan menjawab, ‘Amin.’”
