Deuteronomy 2
1 Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red Sea, as the Lord had spoken unto me: and we traveled around mount Seir many days.
“और जैसा ख़ुदावन्द ने मुझे हुक्म दिया था, उसके मुताबिक़ हम लौटे और बहर — ए — कु़लजु़म की राह से वीराने में आए और बहुत दिनों तक कोह — ए — श'ईर के बाहर — बाहर चलते रहे।
2 And the Lord said unto me, as followeth,
तब ख़ुदावन्द ने मुझसे कहा, कि:
3 Ye have traveled long enough around this mountain; turn yourselves northward.
तुम इस पहाड़ के बाहर — बाहर बहुत चल चुके; उत्तर की तरफ़ मुड़ जाओ,
4 And the people command thou, saying, Ye are passing by the border of your brethren the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir; and they will be afraid of you; therefore take ye good heed unto yourselves;
और तू इन लोगों को ताकीद कर दे कि तुमको बनी 'ऐसौ, तुम्हारे भाई जो श'ईर में रहते हैं उनकी सरहद के पास से होकर जाना है, और वह तुमसे हिरासान होंगे। इसलिए तुम ख़ूब एहतियात रखना,
5 Do not contend with them; for I will not give unto you of their land, even so much as a foot's breadth; because unto Esau have I given mount Seir for an inheritance.
और उनको मत छेड़ना; क्यूँकि मैं उनकी ज़मीन में से पाँव धरने तक की जगह भी तुमको नहीं दूँगा, इसलिए कि मैंने कोह — ए — श'ईर 'ऐसौ को मीरास में दिया है।
6 Food shall ye buy of them for money, that ye may eat; and water also shall ye buy of them for money, that ye may drink.
तुम रुपये देकर अपने खाने के लिए उनसे ख़ुराक ख़रीदना, और पीने के लिए पानी भी रुपया देकर उनसे मोल लेना।
7 For the Lord thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand; he hath provided for thy wandering through this great wilderness: these forty years the Lord thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.
क्यूँकि ख़ुदावन्द तुम्हारा ख़ुदा तेरे हाथ की कमाई में बरकत देता रहा है, और इस बड़े वीराने में जो तुम्हारा चलना फिरना है वह उसे जानता है। इन चालीस बरसों में ख़ुदावन्द तेरा ख़ुदा बराबर तुम्हारे साथ रहा और तुझको किसी चीज़ की कमी नहीं हुई।
8 And we passed away from our brethren the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir, from the way through the plain, from Elath, and from 'Ezyon-gaber. And we turned and passed the way of the wilderness of Moab.
इसलिए हम अपने भाइयों बनी 'ऐसौ के पास से जो श'ईर में रहते हैं, कतरा कर मैदान की राह से ऐलात और 'अस्यून जाबर होते हुए गुज़रे।” फिर हम मुड़े और मोआब के वीराने के रास्ते से चले।
9 And the Lord said unto me, Do not attack the Moabites, nor contend with them in battle; for I will not give thee from their land any inheritance, because unto the children of Lot have I given 'Ar for an inheritance.
फिर ख़ुदावन्द ने मुझसे कहा, कि मोआबियों को न तो सताना और न उनसे जंग करना; इसलिए कि मैं तुझको उनकी ज़मीन का कोई हिस्सा मिल्कियत के तौर पर नहीं दूँगा, क्यूँकि मैंने 'आर को बनी लूत की मीरास कर दिया है।
10 The Emim in times past dwelt therein, a people great, and numerous, and tall as the 'Anakim;
वहाँ पहले ऐमीम बसे हुए थे जो 'अनाक़ीम की तरह बड़े — बड़े और लम्बे — लम्बे और शुमार में बहुत थे।
11 As Rephaim were also they accounted, equally with the 'Anakim; and the Moabites called the[[m]] Emim.
और 'अनाक़ीम ही की तरह वह भी रिफ़ाईम में गिने जाते थे, लेकिन मोआबी उनको ऐमीम कहते हैं।
12 And in Seir dwelt the Chorim in times past; but the children of Esau drove them out, and they destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead; as Israel hath done unto the land of his inheritance, which the Lord hath given unto them.
और पहले श'ईर में होरी क़ौम के लोग बसे हुए थे, लेकिन बनी 'ऐसौ ने उनको निकाल दिया और उनको अपने सामने से बर्बाद करके आप उनकी जगह बस गए, जैसे इस्राईल ने अपनी मीरास के मुल्क में किया जिसे ख़ुदावन्द ने उनको दिया।
13 Now rise up, and get you over the brook Zered; and we passed over the brook Zered.
अब उठो और वादी — ए — ज़रद के पार जाओ। चुनाँचे हम वादी — ए — ज़रद से पार हुए।
14 And the time which we came from Kadesh-barnea', until we had passed over the brook Zered, was thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were spent from out the midst of the camp, as the Lord had sworn unto them.
और हमारे क़ादिस बर्नी'अ से रवाना होने से लेकर वादी — ए — ज़रद के पार होने तक अठतीस बरस का 'अरसा गुज़रा। इस असना में ख़ुदावन्द की क़सम के मुताबिक़ उस नसल के सब जंगी मर्द लश्कर में से मर खप गए।
15 And also the hand of the Lord was against them, to destroy them from the midst of the camp; until they were spent.
और जब तक वह नाबूद न हो गए तब तक ख़ुदावन्द का हाथ उनको लश्कर में से हलाक करने को उनके ख़िलाफ़ बढ़ा ही रहा।
16 So it came to pass, when all the men of war were spent by, dying from the midst of the people,
जब सब जंगी मर्द मर गए और क़ौम में से फ़ना हो गए
17 That the Lord spoke unto me, saying,
तो ख़ुदावन्द ने मुझसे कहा,
18 Thou art passing this day by the border of Moab, by 'Ar,
आज तुझे 'आर शहर से होकर जो मोआब की सरहद है गुज़रना है।
19 And thou comest nigh opposite the children of 'Ammon: do not attack them, nor contend with them; for I will not give unto thee of the land of the children of 'Ammon any inheritance; because unto the children of Lot have I given it for an inheritance.
और जब तू बनी 'अम्मोन के क़रीब जा पहुँचे, तो उन को मत सताना और न उनको छेड़ना, क्यूँकि मैं बनी 'अम्मोन की ज़मीन का कोई हिस्सा तुझे मीरास के तौर पर नहीं दूँगा इसलिए कि उसे मैंने बनी लूत को मीरास में दिया है।
20 As the land of Rephaim was it also accounted: Rephaim dwelt therein in times past; and the 'Ammonites called them Zamzummim;
वह मुल्क भी रिफ़ाईम का गिना जाता था, क्यूँकि पहले रफ़ाईम जिनको 'अम्मोनी लोग ज़मज़मीम कहते थे वहाँ बसे हुए थे।
21 A people great, and numerous, and tall, as the 'Anakim; but the Lord destroyed them before them; and they drove them out, and dwelt in their stead:
यह लोग भी 'अनाक़ीम की तरह बड़े — बड़े और लम्बे — लम्बे और शुमार में बहुत थे, लेकिन ख़ुदावन्द ने उनको 'अम्मोनियों के सामने से हलाक किया, और वह उनको निकाल कर उनकी जगह आप बस गए।
22 As he hath done to the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir, from before whom he destroyed the Chorim; and they drove them out and dwelt in their stead, even unto this day.
ठीक वैसे ही जैसे उसने बनी 'ऐसौ के सामने से जो श'ईर में रहते थे होरियों को हलाक किया, और वह उनको निकाल कर आज तक उन ही की जगह बसे हुए हैं।
23 And the 'Avvim, who dwelt in open towns, as far as unto Gazzah, —the Caphtorim, who came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.
ऐसे ही 'अवियों को जो अपनी बस्तियों में ग़ज़्ज़ा तक बसे हुए थे, कफ़तूरियों ने जो कफ़तूरा से निकले थे हलाक किया और उनकी जगह आप बस गए
24 Rise ye up, set forward, and pass over the brook Arnon; behold I have given into thy hand Sichon the king of Cheshbon, the Emorite, and his land: begin to drive him out, and contend with him in battle.
इसलिए उठो, और वादी — ए — अरनून के पार जाओ। देखो, मैंने हस्बोन के बादशाह सीहोन को, जो अमोरी है उसके मुल्क समेत तुम्हारे हाथ में कर दिया है; इसलिए उस पर क़ब्ज़ा करना शुरू' करो और उससे जंग छेड़ दो।
25 This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the nations that are under the whole heaven; whoever will hear the report of thee, shall tremble, and shall quake because of thee.
मैं आज ही से तुम्हारा ख़ौफ़ और रौब उन क़ौमों के दिल में डालना शुरू' करूँगा जो इस ज़मीन पर रहती हैं, वह तुम्हारी ख़बर सुनेंगी और काँपेंगी, और तुम्हारी वजह से बेताब हो जाएँगी।
26 And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth unto Sichon, the king of Cheshbon, with words of peace, saying,
“और मैंने दश्त — ए — क़दीमात से हस्बोन के बादशाह सीहोन के पास सुलह के पैग़ाम के साथ क़ासिद रवाना किए और कहला भेजा, कि
27 Let me pass through thy land: always by the highway will I go along; I will not turn unto the right hand or unto the left.
मुझे अपने मुल्क से गुज़र जाने दे; मैं शाहराह से होकर चलूँगा और दहने और बाएँ हाथ नहीं मुड़ूँगा
28 Food shalt thou sell me for money, that I may eat; and water for money shalt thou give me, that I may drink: only let me pass through on foot;
तू रुपये लेकर मेरे हाथ मेरे खाने के लिए ख़ुराक बेचना, और मेरे पीने के लिए पानी भी मुझे रुपया लेकर देना; सिर्फ़ मुझे पाँव — पाँव निकल जाने दे,
29 (As the children of Esau who dwell in Seir, and the Moabites who dwell in 'Ar, have done unto me: ) until that I shall pass over the Jordan into the land which the Lord our God giveth us.
जैसे बनी 'ऐसौ ने जो श'ईर में रहते हैं, और मोआबियों ने जो 'आर शहर में बसते हैं। मेरे साथ किया; जब तक कि मैं यरदन को उबूर करके उस मुल्क में पहुँच न जाऊँ जो ख़ुदावन्द हमारा ख़ुदा हमको देता है।
30 But Sichon, the king of Cheshbon, would not suffer our passing by him; for the Lord thy God had hardened his spirit, and had made obstinate his heart, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as [hath happened] this day.
लेकिन हस्बोन के बादशाह सीहोन ने हमको अपने हाँ से गुज़रने न दिया; क्यूँकि ख़ुदावन्द तेरे ख़ुदा ने उसका मिज़ाज कड़ा और उसका दिल सख़्त कर दिया ताकि उसे तेरे हाथ में हवाले कर दे, जैसा आज ज़ाहिर है।
31 And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have begun to give up Sichon and his land before thee: begin to drive him out, that thou mayest inherit his land.
और ख़ुदावन्द ने मुझसे कहा, देख, मैं सीहोन और उसके मुल्क को तेरे हाथ में हवाले करने को हूँ, इसलिए तू उस पर क़ब्ज़ा करना शुरू' कर, ताकि वह तेरी मीरास ठहरे।
32 And Sichon came out against us, he and all his people, to the battle at Yahaz.
तब सीहोन अपने सब आदमियों को लेकर हमारे मुक़ाबले में निकला और जंग करने के लिए यहज़ में आया।
33 And the Lord our God gave him up before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.
और ख़ुदावन्द हमारे ख़ुदा ने उसे हमारे हवाले कर दिया; और हमने उसे, और उसके बेटों को, और उसके सब आदमियों को मार लिया।
34 And we conquered all his cities at that time, and devoted every inhabited city, and the women, and the little ones; we left none that escaped.
और हमने उसी वक़्त उसके सब शहरों को ले लिया, और हर आबाद शहर को 'औरतों और बच्चों समेत बिल्कुल नाबूद कर दिया और किसी को बाक़ी न छोड़ा;
35 Only the cattle we took as booty unto ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we had captured.
लेकिन चौपायों को और शहरों के माल को जो हमारे हाथ लगा लूट कर हमने अपने लिए रख लिया।
36 From 'Aro'er, which is by the bank of the brook of Arnon, and the city that is in the brook, even unto Gil'ad, there was not one city which was too strong for us; the whole did the Lord our God give up before us.
और 'अरो'ईर से जो वादी — ए — अरनोन के किनारे है, और उस शहर से जो वादी में है, जिल'आद तक ऐसा कोई शहर न था जिसको सर करना हमारे लिए मुश्किल हुआ; ख़ुदावन्द हमारे ख़ुदा ने सबको हमारे क़ब्ज़े में कर दिया।
37 Only unto the land of the children of 'Ammon didst thou not come nigh, unto the whole margin of the brook Yabbok, and the cities in the mountain, and unto whatsoever the Lord our God had forbidden us.
लेकिन बनी 'अम्मोन के मुल्क के नज़दीक और दरिया — ए — यबोक़ का 'इलाक़ा और कोहिस्तान के शहरों में और जहाँ — जहाँ ख़ुदावन्द हमारे ख़ुदा ने हमको मना' किया था तो नहीं गया।
