Deuteronomy 2
1 Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red Sea, as the Lord had spoken unto me: and we traveled around mount Seir many days.
Apoi ne-am întors şi am călătorit în pustiu, pe calea Mării Roşii, precum mi-a vorbit DOMNUL şi am înconjurat muntele Seir multe zile.
2 And the Lord said unto me, as followeth,
Şi DOMNUL mi-a vorbit, spunând:
3 Ye have traveled long enough around this mountain; turn yourselves northward.
Destul aţi înconjurat acest munte; întoarceţi-vă spre nord.
4 And the people command thou, saying, Ye are passing by the border of your brethren the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir; and they will be afraid of you; therefore take ye good heed unto yourselves;
Şi porunceşte poporului, spunând: Să treceţi prin ţinutul fraţilor voştri, copiii lui Esau, care locuiesc în Seir; şi ei se vor teme de voi, de aceea aveţi grijă de voi;
5 Do not contend with them; for I will not give unto you of their land, even so much as a foot's breadth; because unto Esau have I given mount Seir for an inheritance.
Nu vă amesticați cu ei; deoarece nu vă voi da din ţara lor, nu, nici cât lăţimea piciorului, deoarece muntele Seir l-am dat în stăpânire lui Esau.
6 Food shall ye buy of them for money, that ye may eat; and water also shall ye buy of them for money, that ye may drink.
Să cumpăraţi de la ei hrană cu bani, ca să mâncaţi; şi de asemenea să cumpăraţi de la ei apă cu bani, ca să beţi.
7 For the Lord thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand; he hath provided for thy wandering through this great wilderness: these forty years the Lord thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.
Fiindcă DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău te-a binecuvântat în toate lucrările mâinii tale, el cunoaşte mersul tău prin acest mare pustiu; în aceşti patruzeci de ani DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău a fost cu tine, nu ţi-a lipsit nimic.
8 And we passed away from our brethren the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir, from the way through the plain, from Elath, and from 'Ezyon-gaber. And we turned and passed the way of the wilderness of Moab.
Şi când am trecut pe alături de fraţii noştri, copiii lui Esau, care locuiau în Seir, prin calea câmpiei, de la Elat şi de la Eţion-Gheber, ne-am întors şi am trecut pe calea pustiului Moabului.
9 And the Lord said unto me, Do not attack the Moabites, nor contend with them in battle; for I will not give thee from their land any inheritance, because unto the children of Lot have I given 'Ar for an inheritance.
Şi DOMNUL mi-a spus: Nu chinuiţi pe moabiţi; nici nu vă luptaţi cu ei în bătălie, pentru că nu îţi voi da din ţara lor ca stăpânire, căci am dat Arul copiilor lui Lot ca stăpânire.
10 The Emim in times past dwelt therein, a people great, and numerous, and tall as the 'Anakim;
Emimii locuiau acolo în trecut, un popor mare şi numeros şi înalt, ca anachimii;
11 As Rephaim were also they accounted, equally with the 'Anakim; and the Moabites called the[[m]] Emim.
Care au fost socotiţi şi ei uriaşi, ca anachimii, dar moabiţii îi numesc emimi.
12 And in Seir dwelt the Chorim in times past; but the children of Esau drove them out, and they destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead; as Israel hath done unto the land of his inheritance, which the Lord hath given unto them.
Horiţii de asemenea locuiau înainte în Seir; dar copiii lui Esau i-au alungat, când i-au nimicit dinaintea lor şi au locuit în locul lor, precum a făcut Israel în ţara stăpânirii lui, pe care DOMNUL le-a dat-o.
13 Now rise up, and get you over the brook Zered; and we passed over the brook Zered.
Acum ridicaţi-vă şi treceţi pârâul Zered. Şi am trecut pârâul Zered.
14 And the time which we came from Kadesh-barnea', until we had passed over the brook Zered, was thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were spent from out the midst of the camp, as the Lord had sworn unto them.
Şi timpul în care am venit de la Cades-Barnea până am trecut pârâul Zered, a fost de treizeci şi opt de ani, până a pierit toată generaţia bărbaţilor de război din mijlocul oştirii, precum DOMNUL le jurase.
15 And also the hand of the Lord was against them, to destroy them from the midst of the camp; until they were spent.
Fiindcă într-adevăr mâna DOMNULUI a fost împotriva lor, ca să îi nimicească din mijlocul oştirii, până când au fost mistuiţi.
16 So it came to pass, when all the men of war were spent by, dying from the midst of the people,
Astfel s-a întâmplat, când toţi bărbaţii de război au fost mistuiţi şi au murit din popor,
17 That the Lord spoke unto me, saying,
Că DOMNUL mi-a vorbit, spunând:
18 Thou art passing this day by the border of Moab, by 'Ar,
Să treci astăzi prin Ar, ţinutul Moabului,
19 And thou comest nigh opposite the children of 'Ammon: do not attack them, nor contend with them; for I will not give unto thee of the land of the children of 'Ammon any inheritance; because unto the children of Lot have I given it for an inheritance.
Şi când te apropii de copiii lui Amon, să nu îi chinui nici să nu te amesteci cu ei, pentru că nu îţi voi da din ţara copiilor lui Amon în stăpânire; deoarece am dat-o copiilor lui Lot ca stăpânire.
20 As the land of Rephaim was it also accounted: Rephaim dwelt therein in times past; and the 'Ammonites called them Zamzummim;
(Aceasta de asemenea era socotită o ţară de uriaşi; uriaşii locuiau în ea în vechime; şi amoniţii îi numesc zamzumimi;
21 A people great, and numerous, and tall, as the 'Anakim; but the Lord destroyed them before them; and they drove them out, and dwelt in their stead:
Un popor mare şi numeros şi înalt, ca anachimii; dar DOMNUL i-a nimicit dinaintea lor şi ei i-au alungat şi au locuit în locul lor,
22 As he hath done to the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir, from before whom he destroyed the Chorim; and they drove them out and dwelt in their stead, even unto this day.
Precum a făcut copiilor lui Esau, care locuiau în Seir, când i-a nimicit pe horiţi dinaintea lor; şi i-au alungat şi au locuit în locul lor până în ziua aceasta;
23 And the 'Avvim, who dwelt in open towns, as far as unto Gazzah, —the Caphtorim, who came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.
Şi pe aviţii care locuiau în Haţerim, până la Gaza, i-au nimicit caftoriţii, care au ieşit din Caftor, şi au locuit în locul lor.)
24 Rise ye up, set forward, and pass over the brook Arnon; behold I have given into thy hand Sichon the king of Cheshbon, the Emorite, and his land: begin to drive him out, and contend with him in battle.
Ridicaţi-vă, călătoriţi şi treceţi râul Arnon, iată, am dat în mâna ta pe Sihon amoritul, împăratul Hesbonului şi ţara lui; începe să o iei în stăpânire şi luptă-te cu el în bătălie.
25 This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the nations that are under the whole heaven; whoever will hear the report of thee, shall tremble, and shall quake because of thee.
Astăzi voi începe să pun groaza de tine şi teama de tine peste toate naţiunile de sub tot cerul, care vor auzi mărturie despre tine şi se vor cutremura şi se vor chinui din cauza ta.
26 And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth unto Sichon, the king of Cheshbon, with words of peace, saying,
Şi am trimis mesageri din pustiul Chedemot la Sihon, împăratul Hesbonului, cu cuvinte de pace, spunând:
27 Let me pass through thy land: always by the highway will I go along; I will not turn unto the right hand or unto the left.
Lasă-mă să trec prin ţara ta, voi merge numai pe drumul mare; nu mă voi abate nici la dreapta nici la stânga.
28 Food shalt thou sell me for money, that I may eat; and water for money shalt thou give me, that I may drink: only let me pass through on foot;
Să îmi vinzi hrană pe bani, ca să mănânc; şi să îmi dai apă pe bani, ca să beau; voi trece numai cu picioarele mele;
29 (As the children of Esau who dwell in Seir, and the Moabites who dwell in 'Ar, have done unto me: ) until that I shall pass over the Jordan into the land which the Lord our God giveth us.
(Precum mi-au făcut copiii lui Esau care locuiesc în Seir şi moabiţii care locuiesc în Ar), până voi trece Iordanul în ţara pe care ne-o dă DOMNUL Dumnezeul nostru.
30 But Sichon, the king of Cheshbon, would not suffer our passing by him; for the Lord thy God had hardened his spirit, and had made obstinate his heart, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as [hath happened] this day.
Dar Sihon, împăratul Hesbonului, nu a voit să ne lase să trecem pe la el; fiindcă DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău i-a împietrit duhul şi i-a înăsprit inima, ca să îl dea în mâna ta, ca în ziua aceasta.
31 And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have begun to give up Sichon and his land before thee: begin to drive him out, that thou mayest inherit his land.
Şi DOMNUL mi-a spus: Iată, am început să dau pe Sihon şi ţara lui înaintea ta; începe să iei în stăpânire, ca să moşteneşti ţara lui.
32 And Sichon came out against us, he and all his people, to the battle at Yahaz.
Atunci Sihon a ieşit împotriva noastră, el şi tot poporul său, să lupte la Iahaţ.
33 And the Lord our God gave him up before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.
Şi DOMNUL Dumnezeul nostru l-a predat înaintea noastră; şi l-am lovit, pe el şi pe copiii săi şi pe tot poporul său.
34 And we conquered all his cities at that time, and devoted every inhabited city, and the women, and the little ones; we left none that escaped.
Şi în timpul acela am luat toate cetăţile lui, am nimicit în întregime pe bărbaţi şi pe femei şi pe micuţi, din fiecare cetate; nu am lăsat pe nimeni să rămână;
35 Only the cattle we took as booty unto ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we had captured.
Numai vitele le-am luat ca pradă pentru noi şi prada cetăţilor pe care le-am cucerit.
36 From 'Aro'er, which is by the bank of the brook of Arnon, and the city that is in the brook, even unto Gil'ad, there was not one city which was too strong for us; the whole did the Lord our God give up before us.
De la Aroer, care este pe malul râului Arnon, şi de la cetatea care este lângă râu, până la Galaad, nu a fost nicio cetate prea tare pentru noi; DOMNUL Dumnezeul nostru ni le-a dat pe toate.
37 Only unto the land of the children of 'Ammon didst thou not come nigh, unto the whole margin of the brook Yabbok, and the cities in the mountain, and unto whatsoever the Lord our God had forbidden us.
Numai de ţara copiilor lui Amon nu te-ai apropiat, nici de vreun loc al râului Iaboc, nici de cetăţile din munţi, nici de tot ce ne-a spus DOMNUL Dumnezeul nostru.
