Deuteronomy 2
1 Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red Sea, as the Lord had spoken unto me: and we traveled around mount Seir many days.
E voltamos, e partimo-nos ao deserto caminho do mar Vermelho, como o SENHOR me havia dito; e rodeamos o monte de Seir por muitos dias.
2 And the Lord said unto me, as followeth,
E o SENHOR me falou, dizendo:
3 Ye have traveled long enough around this mountain; turn yourselves northward.
Demais rodeastes este monte; voltai-vos ao norte.
4 And the people command thou, saying, Ye are passing by the border of your brethren the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir; and they will be afraid of you; therefore take ye good heed unto yourselves;
E manda ao povo, dizendo: Passando vós pelo termo de vossos irmãos os filhos de Esaú, que habitam em Seir, eles terão medo de vós; mas vós guardai-vos muito:
5 Do not contend with them; for I will not give unto you of their land, even so much as a foot's breadth; because unto Esau have I given mount Seir for an inheritance.
Não vos metais com eles; que não vos darei de sua terra nem ainda a pisadura da planta de um pé; porque eu dei por herança a Esaú o monte de Seir.
6 Food shall ye buy of them for money, that ye may eat; and water also shall ye buy of them for money, that ye may drink.
Comprareis deles por dinheiro os alimentos, e comereis; e também comprareis deles a água, e bebereis:
7 For the Lord thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand; he hath provided for thy wandering through this great wilderness: these forty years the Lord thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.
Pois o SENHOR teu Deus te abençoou em toda obra de tuas mãos: ele sabe que andas por este grande deserto: estes quarenta anos o SENHOR teu Deus foi contigo; e nenhuma coisa te faltou.
8 And we passed away from our brethren the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir, from the way through the plain, from Elath, and from 'Ezyon-gaber. And we turned and passed the way of the wilderness of Moab.
E passamos por nossos irmãos os filhos de Esaú, que habitavam em Seir, pelo caminho da planície de Elate e de Eziom-Geber. E voltamos, e passamos caminho do deserto de Moabe.
9 And the Lord said unto me, Do not attack the Moabites, nor contend with them in battle; for I will not give thee from their land any inheritance, because unto the children of Lot have I given 'Ar for an inheritance.
E o SENHOR me disse: Não perturbeis a Moabe, nem te empenhes com eles em guerra, que não te darei possessão de sua terra; porque eu dei a Ar por herança aos filhos de Ló.
10 The Emim in times past dwelt therein, a people great, and numerous, and tall as the 'Anakim;
(Os emins habitaram nela antes, povo grande, e numeroso, e alto como gigantes:
11 As Rephaim were also they accounted, equally with the 'Anakim; and the Moabites called the[[m]] Emim.
Por gigantes eram eles também contados, como os anaquins; e os moabitas os chamam emins.
12 And in Seir dwelt the Chorim in times past; but the children of Esau drove them out, and they destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead; as Israel hath done unto the land of his inheritance, which the Lord hath given unto them.
E em Seir habitaram antes os horeus, aos quais os filhos de Esaú expulsaram; e os destruíram de diante de si, e moraram em lugar deles; como fez Israel na terra de sua possessão que lhes deu o SENHOR.)
13 Now rise up, and get you over the brook Zered; and we passed over the brook Zered.
Levantai-vos agora, e passai o ribeiro de Zerede. E passamos o ribeiro de Zerede.
14 And the time which we came from Kadesh-barnea', until we had passed over the brook Zered, was thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were spent from out the midst of the camp, as the Lord had sworn unto them.
E os dias que andamos de Cades-Barneia até que passamos o ribeiro de Zerede, foram trinta e oito anos; até que se acabou toda a geração dos homens de guerra do meio do acampamento, como o SENHOR lhes havia jurado.
15 And also the hand of the Lord was against them, to destroy them from the midst of the camp; until they were spent.
E também a mão do SENHOR foi sobre eles para destruí-los do meio do campo, até acabá-los.
16 So it came to pass, when all the men of war were spent by, dying from the midst of the people,
E aconteceu que quando se acabaram de morrer todos os homens de guerra dentre o povo,
17 That the Lord spoke unto me, saying,
O SENHOR me falou, dizendo:
18 Thou art passing this day by the border of Moab, by 'Ar,
Tu passarás hoje o termo de Moabe, a Ar,
19 And thou comest nigh opposite the children of 'Ammon: do not attack them, nor contend with them; for I will not give unto thee of the land of the children of 'Ammon any inheritance; because unto the children of Lot have I given it for an inheritance.
E te aproximarás diante dos filhos de Amom: não os perturbeis, nem te metas com eles; porque não te tenho de dar possessão da terra dos filhos de Amom; que aos filhos de Ló a dei por herança.
20 As the land of Rephaim was it also accounted: Rephaim dwelt therein in times past; and the 'Ammonites called them Zamzummim;
(Por terra de gigantes foi também ela tida: habitaram nela gigantes em outro tempo, aos quais os amonitas chamavam zanzumins;
21 A people great, and numerous, and tall, as the 'Anakim; but the Lord destroyed them before them; and they drove them out, and dwelt in their stead:
Povo grande, e numeroso, e alto, como os anaquins; aos quais o SENHOR destruiu de diante dos amonitas, os quais lhes sucederam, e habitaram em seu lugar:
22 As he hath done to the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir, from before whom he destroyed the Chorim; and they drove them out and dwelt in their stead, even unto this day.
Como fez com os filhos de Esaú, que habitavam em Seir, de diante dos quais destruiu aos horeus; e eles lhes sucederam, e habitaram em seu lugar até hoje.
23 And the 'Avvim, who dwelt in open towns, as far as unto Gazzah, —the Caphtorim, who came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.
E aos aveus que habitavam em vilas até Gaza, os caftoreus que saíram de Caftor os destruíram, e habitaram em seu lugar.)
24 Rise ye up, set forward, and pass over the brook Arnon; behold I have given into thy hand Sichon the king of Cheshbon, the Emorite, and his land: begin to drive him out, and contend with him in battle.
Levantai-vos, parti, e passai o ribeiro de Arnom: eis que dei em tua mão a Seom rei de Hesbom, amorreu, e a sua terra: começa a tomar possessão, e empenha-te com ele em guerra.
25 This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the nations that are under the whole heaven; whoever will hear the report of thee, shall tremble, and shall quake because of thee.
Hoje começarei a pôr teu medo e teu espanto sobre os povos debaixo de todo o céu, os quais ouvirão tua fama, e tremerão, e se angustiarão diante de ti.
26 And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth unto Sichon, the king of Cheshbon, with words of peace, saying,
E enviei mensageiros desde o deserto de Quedemote a Seom rei de Hesbom, com palavras de paz, dizendo:
27 Let me pass through thy land: always by the highway will I go along; I will not turn unto the right hand or unto the left.
Passarei por tua terra pelo caminho: pelo caminho irei, sem apartar-me à direita nem à esquerda:
28 Food shalt thou sell me for money, that I may eat; and water for money shalt thou give me, that I may drink: only let me pass through on foot;
A comida me venderás por dinheiro e comerei: a água também me darás por dinheiro, e beberei: somente passarei a pé;
29 (As the children of Esau who dwell in Seir, and the Moabites who dwell in 'Ar, have done unto me: ) until that I shall pass over the Jordan into the land which the Lord our God giveth us.
Como o fizeram comigo os filhos de Esaú que habitavam em Seir, e os moabitas que habitavam em Ar; até que passe o Jordão à terra que nos dá o SENHOR nosso Deus.
30 But Sichon, the king of Cheshbon, would not suffer our passing by him; for the Lord thy God had hardened his spirit, and had made obstinate his heart, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as [hath happened] this day.
Mas Seom rei de Hesbom não quis que passássemos pelo território seu; porque o SENHOR teu Deus havia endurecido seu espírito, e obstinado seu coração para entregá-lo em tua mão, como hoje.
31 And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have begun to give up Sichon and his land before thee: begin to drive him out, that thou mayest inherit his land.
E disse-me o SENHOR: Eis que eu comecei a dar diante de ti a Seom e a sua terra; começa a tomar possessão, para que herdes sua terra.
32 And Sichon came out against us, he and all his people, to the battle at Yahaz.
E saiu-nos Seom ao encontro, ele e todo seu povo, para lutar em Jaza.
33 And the Lord our God gave him up before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.
Mas o SENHOR nosso Deus o entregou diante de nós; e ferimos a ele e a seus filhos, e a todo seu povo.
34 And we conquered all his cities at that time, and devoted every inhabited city, and the women, and the little ones; we left none that escaped.
E tomamos então todas suas cidades, e destruímos todas as cidades, homens, e mulheres, e crianças; não deixamos ninguém:
35 Only the cattle we took as booty unto ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we had captured.
Somente tomamos para nós os animais, e os despojos das cidades que havíamos tomado.
36 From 'Aro'er, which is by the bank of the brook of Arnon, and the city that is in the brook, even unto Gil'ad, there was not one city which was too strong for us; the whole did the Lord our God give up before us.
Desde Aroer, que está junto à beira do ribeiro de Arnom, e a cidade que está no ribeiro, até Gileade, não houve cidade que escapasse de nós: todas as entregou o SENHOR nosso Deus em nosso poder.
37 Only unto the land of the children of 'Ammon didst thou not come nigh, unto the whole margin of the brook Yabbok, and the cities in the mountain, and unto whatsoever the Lord our God had forbidden us.
Somente à terra dos filhos de Amom não chegaste, nem a tudo o que está à beira do ribeiro de Jaboque nem às cidades do monte, nem a lugar algum que o SENHOR nosso Deus havia proibido.
